In a war ravaged town, Dae does what he can to run a diner and keep his sister and her ward safe from the Regulators. Dae has allowed one such Regulator, McBane, to use him and abuse his body in exchange for not touching Dae’s sister. When Coby and his men ride into town it’s almost too much to hope that this man with a gentle touch would want to prevent McBane from ever laying another finger on Dae’s already scarred body.

Coby, like most Regulators, takes over a strip and everything within that area. McBane’s bragging is what leads Coby to Dae, but it’s Dae himself that influences his choice to stay. When things heat up he has no intention of backing down from what he wants and Coby will do whatever needs to be done in order to keep it.

Scarred is an emotional tale from Dae’s difficult past at the hands of McBane, to the tenderness he is shown by a man like Coby. The sexual tension is present throughout the story as both men want what the other can give them both physically and emotionally. J. M. Snyder is a talented writer who in a wonderfully detailed manner gives the characters a dismal life that surprisingly turns into something beautiful. A tense, touching and absorbing story that readers won’t want to set down.
