In a field within the borders of Castle Templestone, Sir Sebastian of Tabrinth and Sir Duncan of Marynville discover a battered young woman with no memory of her past and a lavender jewel dangling from her neck. Angered by the vicious abuse the young woman suffered and stricken by the beauty he saw beyond the numerous bruises, Sebastian makes a silent vow to protect the mystery woman with his life.
Rushing into the castle Sir Sebastian brings the young woman to Lady Arianna. Known throughout the castle for her healing abilities, Arianna rids the young woman Sebastian names Jewel of her scars and broken bones, but is unable to restore her memory. Taking notice of the lavender crystal around Jewel’s neck, Arianna senses there is hidden power within it, and suggests Sebastian keep an eye on their guest.
In the days that follow, Jewel catches the eye of many of the knights, but only Sebastian holds her undivided attention. When attraction turns to passion Jewel decides her apparently painful past is not worth remembering when a future with Sebastian is all she desires. However, when the mystery behind the lavender crystal is revealed by the dragon Mynos, Castle Templestone’s guardian, Jewel is asked to use the necklace to unlock her memory revealing her attacker as her fiancé, the evil and ambitious Lord Merric. When Merric learns of her whereabouts he doesn’t hesitate to do unspeakable things to get Jewel and the crystal back.
The Wolverine and the Jewel is an amazing follow up to The Wolverine and the Rose, with the introduction of a beautiful damsel with an unknown past that is probably best left that way. Yet with its unraveling creates a breathtaking tale of love challenged, lives lost, and a shift in power. Robin Goings succeeds in capturing her audience’s attention and doesn’t let go until its much anticipated conclusion.
