Brandon King is addicted to coffee and candy and was recently promoted to Detective in Burglary Division. He’s in a sexual relationship with a man ten years his senior, Phil Gates who also happens to be his partner. Phil may not be the most romantic lover, but Brandon finds himself willing to make excuses for him to avoid being alone. They’ve been planning on taking vacation together on a trip to Key West, that is until Phil cancels so he can go on a cruise with his fiancée, Susan and spend some time with his future father in-law. While conducting an investigation Brandon is made a very unusual proposition, one he finds he can’t refuse, to find a statue that’s said to grant one’s heart’s desire.
Christian Carter is an archaeologist, a part time antique shop keeper and sometime procurer of items for collectors. When Brandon walks into his shop offering the chance of a new adventure, he also finds himself strongly attracted to Brandon and Brandon reluctantly finds himself attracted to Christian. After spending only three days together, preparing and traveling to India, Brandon realizes he knows Christian better than he ever knew Phil and he can’t stop himself from fantasizing about the hunky archaeologist. In Madhya Pradesh they can no longer deny their attraction for each other and give in to their passions!
Once in the rain forest, the jungle heat, the humidity and his growing feelings for Christian are almost too much for Brandon, who’s nerves are already on edge without his caffeine and sugar. Danger soon arrives in the form of an Asian tiger and a centuries old churel (aka vampire) who also happens to be the guardian of Karttikeya! When Brandon is attacked he realizes, maybe too late, that he’s already found his heart’s desire in Christian. Will he survive? Will Christian survive? Will they find the statue?
The Lost Temple of Karttikeya is a mysterious and steamy adventure well worth reading! Ms. Baumbach has created a fascinating world with two very likable characters in Brandon and Christian. The heat between these two men gets so hot; you almost expect them to spontaneously combust! The jungle, the heat, the danger, the sex, the love all combine to make The Lost Temple of Karttikeya a fun and satisfying read, one not to miss!
