Being rich and handsome doesn’t guarantee life will be carefree and fun, which is something that Christian Ryder is all too aware. That’s because he’s a pyromancer, a man who controls fire, and he’s learned the hard way that if he gets too close to people, they end up dead. Throughout his life he’s discovered the ability to control the flames, but during periods of intense emotions, his powers often flare out of control and things around him burst into flames. But late one night, he can’t stand the loneliness any longer, and he calls and arranges for the serves of a male escort for Male Companions.

Tanner O’Bannon is young, cute and in desperate financial straits after the death of his firefighter father. Unable to pay off his mountain of debts and college, he turns to selling himself for money just to make ends meet. He hates his job and the pathetic groping of the men who pay him, and then he meets Christian who gives him the best blowjob of his life without taking his own pleasure.

I love well written stories where the author seamlessly integrates the normal and paranormal portions of a characters life into a cohesive whole, and Ms. Young does that very nicely in her newest book, Pyromancer. Her descriptions of Christian’s uncertainty and fear of hurting someone is very well depicted, allowing the reader to almost feel his pain and loneliness. The same goes for the well-described feelings that Tanner experiences after the death of his father and the unpalatable life he’s been forced into for survival. Yet her best part of this story is the growling relationship between these two men and how hard they fight each other to find the love they are both looking for, each afraid to expect or hope for too much. But watch out once they get together…fire, heat, and blistering hot passion that draw them like moths to a flame.
