From being born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth to being engaged to handsome Geoff Quigley, Olivia ‘Liv’ Leigh had everything any woman could dream about. Her crystal world shatters when she finds out that her high society fiancé is two-timing her. While on a mission to find out the truth, Liv runs smack dab into auto mechanic Mike Peck’s hunky chest. Things are totally confusing but the wealthy socialite learns that there is more to life beyond her existence.

I loved Liv’s investigative approach and couldn't help but wonder what she's going to do next. Her outlandish attempts at stalking with a bit of change in her appearance were hilarious. Mike is a genuinely kind person, a sucker for sob stories and gone cases. He appears to be the only normal one amongst a bunch of wonderfully quirky and slightly bent characters. Their relationship develops softly and the romance has a certain depth that makes it endearing and enjoyable. The sharp contrast between Geoff and Mike and in Liv’s life before and after she meets Mike is handled very deftly by the author. Larry, the wizened old cabbie, is the voice of true experience here. I just loved them all.

The plot is interesting and moves along well, defining and redefining Liv’s character. All the secondary characters including mastiff Spike and ferret Rett are plain and simple fun. Frank is the charming neighbor who adds character to the story with his world record breaking attempts.

One Love for Liv is the kind of book that you never tire of reading and re-reading. This fast-paced and witty read actually made me laugh ‘til I cried in several parts. I can guarantee that I can’t even think about pizzas without my eyes misting over after I read the story. Ms. Arkins’ fresh and interesting writing style will attract fans of offbeat romantic romps. One Love for Liv can easily become your much needed break from life's harried pace. Ms. Arkins is definitely an author to look out for!
