Quinn is very good at what she does…slaying the demons that changed her life. Yet something isn’t right, and she starts having mind-numbing nightmares that she can’t explain or ignore. And then her life starts to come apart, and the one man whom she once depended on is avoiding her, and she doesn’t know why. When her twin sister disappears at the hand of a storm demon, the hunt for her and her abductor is on, and it’s Brax she leans on for support, understanding and assistance. The question is whether she can overlook and forgive the secret he’s been hiding or let it destroy their growing personal relationship forever.

Braxton has been attracted to Quinn for over two years and during that time, he managed to abide by the non-fraternization rule of their mutual employer. That is until the night she was infected by a lust demon and couldn’t keep her hands off him. It’s a night of weakness spent in her arms…and she doesn’t even remember it the next morning. Instead of confessing what happened, he keeps quiet and avoids her for weeks, which only makes the tension between them worse. It’s not until her nightmares start and the lives of both she and her twin are threatened that he throws caution, and rules, to the wind and rushes to defend the woman who has stolen his heart.

Stripped Away is the second book by Ms. Somers in her new Shadow Destroyers Series. The overall plotline is obviously well thought out and intricately plotted in order to keep the numerous details straight and the descriptions vivid and fresh. It’s filled with suspense, tension, uncertainty, betrayal, action and a fast pace that keeps you racing to the end. The sexual tension between Quinn and Brax can only be described at sizzling hot and fiery and when these two get together, watch out for a meltdown. The integration of old, and the addition of new, characters throughout its length only adds depth to the story, and give this reader great hopes for additional stories in the series with some of these sexy and determined individuals. And let’s not forget the bad guys in this plotline…demons escaped from an ancient imprisonment bent on global destruction.

This well plotted, original book is another great tale in a keeper series, and this reader is eagerly awaiting the release of the next story in this inventive plotline with Storm Warning.
