For Greek vampire Niko Pappas, Kansas City had a strange pull. That was the only reason he stuck to the city bravely dealing with Elijah Doorman’s crazy threats. Terri Smythe’s itchy feet made her move from New York to Missouri but the great step couldn’t cure the boredom bothering her. A mystical gift from a novelty shop called Madam Periwinkle’s Erotic Delights brings her face to face with a dead body that becomes her cure-all. Can she bring everything to order before her recent orgasms become a distant memory?

Terri can be any real life gal bogged down by boredom and looking for a chance to get out. Niko is a strong and magnificent vampire on a mission but I just couldn’t get that hero-like feel from him. His qualities never showed up enough for me to fall in love with him but he sure knew how to make Terri’s fantasies come to life. The pull was instant and the relationship starts after a stint of bone-melting sex. It is all up to the reader to find the romance between them and believe in it.

The sex happens at some seriously outrageous times and even though it was steamy enough to burn the pages, I found myself glancing behind for any chance of danger. The busy plot has the reader on the edge finding answers to the questions that bother Terri. There is so much going on in the short length of the story that I found myself re-reading parts just to keep on track. It does have a little twisted surprise at the end that made me admire the author’s imagination.

The Magic 8-Ball that Terri gets from the erotic shop, Madam Periwinkle’s Erotic Delights, is a character in itself. I really laughed at some of its predictions and longed for a device of my own. The bantering between Terri and her best girls, Maggie, Rena and Dana was pretty entertaining. All in all, I really liked the idea of constructing stories around a novelty erotic shop that has paranormal aspects connected to it and Outlook Orgasmic has left the field wide open for more fun reads like this.
