Blair Murphy is a tenacious journalist who’s on the trail of a corrupt local politician when she meets a hot and hunky stranger who makes her forget about her undercover investigation…at least for a little while. Drew Reid is everything she’s ever wanted in a man: charming, sexy, has a sense of humor that makes her laugh, and he’s protective. What’s not to like about the man? Despite their blistering physical attraction, Blair finds it difficult to trust a man who refuses to disclose the identity of the woman who keeps calling his cell phone.
Drew Reid is a demon-slayer and he’s on the ragged edge of burn-out, which is what gets him a forced two-week vacation. He’s not happy being away from his family and friends until he spies sexy Blair Murphy tailing a small group of men. With his job, he doesn’t need an inquisitive woman in his life; when she leaves, he thinks it’s for the best, except he can’t stop thinking about her. When they meet again at a co-worker’s party, he’s shocked to learn the woman of his dreams is the younger sister of his best friend, Brax. He doesn’t need the complication, but he can’t stay away from her either.
Storm Warning is Ms. Somers’ third release in her ongoing Shadow Destroyers series, and should be read in order to get the greatest understanding of the characters and ongoing plotline. Like the other books in the series, Storm Warning is well-written, fast-paced and filled with interesting and intriguing characters determined to save the world from the clutches of the demon horde bent on destruction and domination.
The wonderful job of world-building, which Ms. Somers started in Unbreakable and Stripped Away, has been continued in this exciting third story, allowing the reader to step into its pages not as an observer, but as a participant. Her characters of Blair and Drew are likeable and sexy, and when they come together, the only word to describe their blistering passion is…wow! I loved the integration of important characters from the previous two books, and the new ones added here, especially Drew’s young daughter, Molly. Add in a few demons, corrupt politicians, and an unexpected enemy, and you have all the components needed for a great suspenseful, romantic, paranormal read.
This well-plotted original story and its extended, detailed plotline give me great hope for more equally intriguing books following the Shadow Destroyers in the future. This book is another keeper book in a keeper series.
