Speech Pathologist Ryan Phillips enjoys working in the physical rehabilitation unit of University Medical Center, and his patience and professionalism make him a hit with patients and personnel alike. Discovering his former partner and co-worker isn’t good at monogamy leads Ryan to end their three year relationship. While it was the right decision, it was still a bitter pill to swallow. Ryan believes he’s not ready for a relationship, but that option becomes null and void when he lays eyes on his referral patient, André Thompson.
André woke up in the hospital after suffering a traumatic head injury to a man with kind eyes and the ability to sooth his fears. His stay and recovery are due to his will to fight and the company of Ryan. André and Ryan may be the link needed to find healing, and possibly a lover over the next few months. While their friendship will grow, is there room for love?
Terry O’Reilly has written a wonderful story about love, awakening passion, friendship, and the importance of closure. Ryan is a man after my heart. His kind spirit allows him to connect with André on a deeper level, and gives him a gentle nudge toward recovering. André has to face what he wants and decide how far he’s willing to commit. He has a giving spirit, and just needs someone willing to receive his love, regardless of his medical condition. I truly enjoyed these characters and this story. I know Ryan was having trouble dealing with his heart and what is ethical, and I believe he handled the situation as professionally as he could. I’m definitely putting Terry O’Reilly on my “must read” list from this point forward. If you enjoy M/M romance novels that have a real feel then you have to read Finding the Words.
