Strictly Business is the Courtland Chronicles series prequel to The Arrangement. Eric is a young man still reeling from the pain of his mother’s death and his father’s lack of love. He has friends who support him but that severed relationship has tainted Eric into believing he doesn’t deserve true love. Eric, at times, is his own worst enemy. His story made me feel fortunate to have a family who believes in me. Eric proves that no amount of possessions could equate to the wealth gained from unconditional love. Bran teaches Eric many lessons, and while some will be difficult to learn, they all point him in the direction of his destiny. Cat Grant’s setting, plot and characters are wonderfully written. There are sadomasochistic acts included in this story, but the characters seemed to have grown from the experience. Those acts actually disturbed me less than Eric’s actions towards Nick, his lover of three years, and I definitely have a few issues with his unscrupulous behavior. At times, the story took over some of my emotions and overall I found Strictly Business an enjoyable story to read.
