Kiya White Cloud left his home in South Dakota to attend college in California. Hoping to mix a little pleasure with business, he doesn’t always make the right choices until he meets one of the sexy teaching assistants in his bio class. Although getting his degree is important to Kiya, he also hopes to find a strong lasting relationship.

Brian knows that dating a student is against school policy but where Kiya is concerned, he just can’t help himself. As a faewolf however, Brian has more important things to worry about. He is hoping to find out how to save the clans from extinction. Unfortunately, this has cut him off from his pack and Brian fears becoming a lone wolf.

The authors do a wonderful job portraying a cocky, insecure young man trying to find his way in the world. Kiya's struggle to break from an abusive ex, his insecurity in starting a new relationship and the deep love he feels for Brian are evident to the reader. With the character Brian, the authors give the reader a completely new look into the world of werewolves. His struggle to save the clans not only leaves him cut off from his pack, but also makes him an outsider with the humans around him, something the authors portray in such a way that it helps pull the reader right into the story.

Faewolf, the first book in a series by these two authors, is an exceptionally good story. Authors D.M. Atkins and Chris Taylor take a theme millions of readers are familiar with and turns it around with the introduction of faewolves - creatures who are part fae and part wolf. Their story of two young men, each searching for something, will take the reader on an interesting journey. Readers should be forewarned however, that there are scenes of dubious consent and sex in shifter form.
