Jealousy and fear has caused a rife between the Land of Earth and Fire and the Land of Air and Water. Centuries have passed for the prophecy to be fulfilled and for the balance to be restored.

Kaji, the king of Duiem, knows his duty and prepares to bond to a person he doesn’t love. Aniol is unsure of how he arrived in this dry land, but is sure he must escape the men intent on selling him into slavery.

One quick dash to freedom changes into an opportunity to fulfill a prophecy and discover destined mates. Are Kaji and Aniol strong enough to restore the balance, or is their bonding doomed from the very start?

Gatekeeper is a highly imaginative story created about two parallel worlds that rely on a delicate tie to prosper. The severed ties cause decades of misery and suffering on each world.

Rayne Auster may allow Kaji and Aniol to have an instant attraction but after that, the relationship slows and builds over time. Kaji isn’t ready for his role as a king until he meets Aniol and begins to see the errors of his ways. His normally fiery temper cools some and he begins to think through his actions, more thanks to his connection with Aniol. Aniol is shy and reclusive. After reading his background, it’s no wonder he’s not trusting or openly affectionate. The fire in Kaji is just what Aniol needs to begin to enjoy passion and to understand the importance of friendship.

Gatekeeper is a fascinating story with a well-developed storyline. The supporting characters add just the right elements throughout the story. There are at least two characters I would enjoy seeing appear in their own stories. Those who enjoy fantasy male/male romances with a paranormal twist will find this story well worth a read.
