Artist Stephen Fischer and Detective Russell Hunter travel in totally different social circles, yet, when a murder brings these two men together, they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other.

With Between Darkness and Light, author P. A. Brown gives the reader an interesting variety of characters, as well as a story full of suspense. Her characters are not the usual cookie-cutter perfect characters you might see elsewhere; instead they are at times flawed and unlikeable, yet, those are the things that keep the reader interested. As she has done with characters Stephen and Russell, she is also very good at bringing the attraction her characters feel across in a way that is believable for the reader. To see these two men, who have little in common, find their way together kept the story interesting and at times, kept it from being too heavy.

While it was easy for me to guess who the ‘bad guy’ was, the reason for his actions was totally surprising and the way the author finishes up the story was more than satisfying. Although parts of the story may be a little predictable, that in no way detracts from what is a very good story.
