Benaiah Day has no skills when it comes to repairing cars. A mishap with his ’66 Jaguar has him turning to mechanic Jess Leonard for help. Jess’ skills allow him to keep his business afloat. The mutual attraction with Ben was unexpected. The full time dad has little time to make a love connection, but something about Ben makes Jess believe he has found a keeper.

Driven To Distraction takes us to a small town where we encounter Ben and Jess. The men don’t have to wonder if they are sexually compatible. That is more than evident every time they are within a foot of one another. But their different backgrounds, occupations and race could have become factors in putting a damper on their budding relationship. Anah Crow & Dianne Fox not only added elements in the story around these issues but were able to find resolution to them before they caused the couple too much heartache.

I would have enjoyed watching Ben interact with Jess’ children. I believe that one dynamic would have helped me decide if the relationship was merely just a happy-for-right-now verses a happily-ever-after story. Overall, I found the story a wonderful read. The characters have great chemistry, which made Driven To Distraction flow effortlessly. It’s a wonderful addition to the Working Stiffs series.

Jeff hates being beholden to demons but, since they helped save his daughter’s life, there is nothing he can do about them. When one of the worse demons shows up on his doorstep with a wounded angel, Jeff realizes his problems have just gotten a whole lot worse.

The background story for Angel: 1089, the first book in the Heaven Corp series, is both very complex and very simple. Earth has been destroyed by a series of natural disasters and mankind is struggling to survive. Over a period of time, heaven is formed and angels are needed to patrol the heavens. While reading this book, I found that I had some unanswered questions and hopefully, more of the background story will be explained in future books.

As far as the story and characters are concerned, both are strongly written and readers should know that this is not your usual angels and demon story, as both groups are made up of altered humans. The main characters, Jeff and Gabe, are drawn to each other. However, Jeff is reluctant to get involved with the angel and his reasons are very realistic. I was drawn the most to Gabe, who soon realizes that things are not always what they seem. Although the young angel is tossed into a situation he does not understand, he does hide from the new truths he is forced to accept. There are several interesting secondary characters that help move the story along and a few twists that help keep the story interesting. I am looking forward to more in this series and wonder just what the author has planned next.

Archaeologist Ian Grayson joins his lover Mackenzie Wallace on one of Mac’s cross-country trucking runs. Mac has the perfect camp site in the Mojave Desert planned for Ian. Ian finds a Native American Kiva in an ancient pueblo. That night, Ian noticed that Mac is acting out of character when Mac decides to wear the representation of an Anasazi deity necklace he found buried at the Kiva. With Mac’s display of belligerent behavior, Ian begins to suspect there was something evil hidden in the ancient religious meeting place.

The Kiva is book 4 in the Tomcat series. In this episode, the story features the internal battle of good versus evil when Mac is spiritually out of control. Ian’s knowledge concerning Native American Gods is limited, so he must seek the aid of a shaman. The plot is well written. The setting is Arizona, highlighting the natural wonders to be found there. The characters are realistic. Both men are exceptionally considerate. Ian and Mac normally express a great deal of love, along with respect, for each other. However, this installment exhibits the emotional impact outside forces can have on a person’s personality, as well as the well-being of a relationship, when violence, as well as trust, comes into question. Stevie Woods has created an interesting enjoyable addition to this adventure series.

Jared Leon doesn’t reminisce about his former career as an underwear model. The mechanic is still trying to get past his chaotic divorce. A trip is just what he needs to help him focus on his future, and who better to share it with than his best friend Aidan.

They travel to Alaska for some manly fun in the brisk weather, but Jared didn’t know just how manly the fun would get. Aidan believes he’s straight and that thought comes into question when Jared shows him just how good it could feel in his arms. But Jared isn’t ready to admit he’s gay.

With some help, Aidan and Jared soon decide to give their friendship a much needed overhaul.

A Big Hunk O' Love is part of the Working Stiffs series. Jared had me questioning just how deep his feelings for Aidan go a few times. His uncertainty pushed him to perform a few acts that seemed excessive and would have made a lesser man promptly book passage on the next thing smoking in a rush to get home.

Aidan isn’t a pushover and is willing to do whatever is necessary to get Jared to open his eyes and see him as more than just his best friend. Hunter Raines’ Alaskan setting is perfect for this story. It’s romantic and semi secluded. This short story was a nice read, and I’m looking forward to more of the tales in the series.

Having previously led a quiet geek life before as a librarian and archivist, Jack Hargreaves is now a jaguar shape-shifter, working for the US branch of STORM. His undercover work has him going to other areas of the world, often revisiting some of his old stomping grounds. Jack looks on his past relationships with women he thought he loved as failures and now wonders whether his current situation with sexy Shere will end the same.

Thinking about a lifestyle change, Emuishere (Shere) Baymoui knows that her days are numbered, due to her reluctance to continue doing assassinations for STORM UK. Shere is an Egyptian goddess and is able to seduce with just a look, with great beauty and a body built for sin. Shere now finds herself with another issue, in that she needs to choose between Jack and her current lover of convenience.

I have read a lot of shape-shifter stories but Emotion in Motion has a pleasant twist to it and I loved reading every page of it. This is because of the two main characters, which says they were more than just shape-shifters, and their history/heritage is brought out at the start of the relationship.

This is not my first time reading one of Ms. Connolly’s novels and it won’t be my last one either! She did a spectacular job with her well-plotted story, creating characters that were so believable that I found myself racing to the end to see how the story finished. Her villain turned out to be not who I suspected at all and they were quite the psychopath too.

I thought that Shere really thought too much about her attachments to people. In other words, she felt the need too strongly to separate herself because of death. Her job as an assassin spoke volumes about to me about her taking lives, and she eventually needed to disconnect to stay sane.

I really enjoyed reading Emotion in Motion because of the well-rounded way the story unfolded. Each of the characters played a large part, having different personalities, which added to the storyline. I thought the different species of Talents quite intriguing: a jaguar, an Egyptian goddess cat, a Sorceress and a vampire, all who worked well together. Although the villain didn’t have any special talent, their part in the story only kept the suspense for me. Overall this is a great book and one to be added to my collection.

Taza understands what is expected of him. As the sole male offspring of the Coushrin king, he is expected to mate well. The female sea horses are hot on his trail and Taza will do anything to squash their plans, including escaping to Baltimore.

The two crazy females are no match for the unstable human he encounters, who is intent on becoming immortal via wishes or cooked up flesh. The encounter has Taza running for his life and into the arms of his mate, Astika.

Astika, a Hindu Naga god, isn’t expecting to find his mate and is reluctant to accept his predicament. Soon, he sees the good Taza can add to his life. With so many after the seahorse, Astika will have to work fast to save his mate and stake claim to the one who has entrapped his heart.

Absolute Perfection is definitely not the paranormal stories I’ve grown used to. The characters are fabulously detailed. The primary and supporting characters each bring something to this story. Their quirks and imperfections displayed for all to see making them believable and likable.

Taza may bottom but he has no plans on remaining there. Even when he relinquishes some degree of control, he still dominates from the bottom. Astika is happy to have a mate who is unwilling to exploit him, while Taza is ecstatic to gain safety in Astika’s arms. They both have painful upbringings and recognize their kindred spirits. Astika’s desire of becoming a father morphs his perceptions of the situation. While he is ready to make the dream a reality, he still considers Taza instead of forcefully taking his heart’s desire.

Stephanie Burke throws in some action and suspense to balance out the humor and romance in this beautifully written story. Those looking for a paranormal story outside of the box need look no further.

The Beast (Collection) is comprised of five stories previously released as the Beast series: Taking Back Control, Eat Your Heart Out, Old Ways, New Days, Soul Tripping, and Rock the Line, as well as a bonus short story, The Beast Revisited. Each story introduces a new action packed dilemma, in addition to new secondary characters, which Nathan and Guillermo have direct contact with. The well written plots are set in Kansas City, Missouri. The characters are believable. Nathan was turned into a vampire against his will and has been trying to live a normal human life for three years. When Nathan sought help from Guillermo, the last thing Nathan ever expects is to fall in love with a man.

Guillermo is Kansas City’s oldest vampire and owner of a nightclub. He has desired Nathan since Nathan was turned by one of Guillermo’s submissives. Together Nathan and Guillermo must do battle with a jealous ex-lover, a 700-year-old Viking blood servant, a mother who interferes, an obsessive faction of ancient vampires along with a magical baby. In every episode, Nathan and Guillermo engage in electrifying sex, sometimes as a couple, other times in ménages. Because vampires are bisexual in these stories, male/male as well as male/female sexual activities are featured. Reneé George has created an impressive collection that I enjoyed greatly.

During her years as a reporter, Carrie Benton has been involved in some pretty weird stories. Usually, she considered her job fun but today, Carrie was not amused. Her car and phone died, leaving her stranded in the middle of a blizzard. At this rate, she could kiss her Bigfoot story goodbye.

There were no neighbors for at least forty miles, so the appearance of a red haired beauty was a pleasant surprise for Tim. He had no idea what she was doing, but Tim knew exactly where she was going…straight to his bed. When he discovers who Carrie works for, Tim hopes his lucky day doesn’t turn out to be a disaster.

Carrie doesn’t believe in Bigfoot, but after waking up in the arms of a sexy giant she might change her mind. Allowing visitors into his home always held the chance of exposing Tim’s secret, but there was no way he could turn Carrie away. These two didn’t waste any time in heating up the pages with their insatiable appetites and I enjoyed every moment of it. There is something about an immediate attraction between a man and woman, coupled with a paranormal twist that is irresistible.

Tim has a cousin and a friend who will definitely pique the interest of readers and leave them wanting more. It never dawned on me to add Bigfoot on my list of favorite shifters but after this story, I am rethinking my decision. I found the irony of this story just as compelling as the smoldering love scenes. Stephanie Julian’s wonderful story left me smiling and agreeing that Size Matters.

Since the manifestation of Ciara’s unusual gift while a teenager, she’s turned into a virtual recluse to avoid the excruciating pain that a simple human touch can bring. Because of her limitations, she rarely leaves the house but spends her time suspended in her pool where the water amplifies her powers. Her already odd life gets a little stranger when she’s assigned a new FBI handler, Nathan Smith, who doesn’t believe in Ciara’s psychic ability. Instead he thinks she’s is part of an elaborate robbery ring, refusing to believe anything he can’t see.

Assigned to permanent desk duty after suffering a severe gunshot wound, Nathan isn’t thrilled when he finds himself babysitting a fake psychic finder. Despite their attraction, he’s sure she’s working some scam and ends up dragging her to Atlantic City is search of a stolen ruby necklace belonging to Monaco’s royal family. It doesn’t take long for them to realize there’s more going on between them than just looking for a jewel, and if they’re not careful they could lose more than the ruby—they could lose their lives.

The Naked Detective is the 4th book in Vivi Andrews’ Karmic Consultants series and it’s slated for release on November 16, 2010. It’s another great addition to this fun and fast paced series and it had me chuckling on the very first page. I loved the premise of Ciara’s psychic gift and that she could only use it naked. It was totally unexpected and showed Ms. Andrews’s great creativity and comic flair for the unusual.

As individuals, Ciara and Nathan are great, but put them opposite each other and the irritation and sparks fly from the moment they met and truthfully, there isn’t anything about them I didn’t like. Ciara is sincere, passionate about what she does and determined to use her talent to the best of her ability. Nathan is all Alpha male—determined, dedicated and maybe a little too opinionated for his own good. They play well off of each other and made me laugh more than once. Their chemistry is instant, the passion intense and when it finally happens, the sex blistering hot.

The descriptions of Atlantic City and the people seen wandering the streets are nicely handled, as is the suspense element and the bad guy (enough said) at the end. If you’re looking for a fun read, this little story fits the bill perfectly.

Barry’s life improved the moment he arrived in Strange Hollow. The blind vampire has a sense of security being surrounded by friends and protected by his Seeing Eye dog Angelica, whose wicked sense of humor keeps things interesting. Barry doesn’t want interesting; he wants the carnal delights he hopes to gain in his neighbor’s arms.

Anthony has watched Barry and longed to spend time with the man he admires for his independence and strength. Asking Barry out is much easier than revealing the truth about why he has opted to live in Strange Hollow. When he divulges the truth will Barry accept him or will Anthony once again be alone?

Not Seeing is Believing the latest tale of the Strange Hollow series gives a nice spin on vampires. T. A. Chase has created characters with very human flaws that draw you into this story. Barry isn’t your typical vampire. If you remove the fact that he’s blind from the equation, his characteristics are different from those I’ve usually associated with vampires. He doesn’t use physical strength to overcome his everyday dilemmas; instead he uses his mind and ability to read people by listening to them intently. He uses his senses to understand what his vision can no longer discern.

Anthony’s story reminds me of some of the horrible stories I’ve recently read in the news. He seems willing to move forward and allow his neighbors to begin to know him. It’s clear the couple gains power through their union, which will help them to live a happy life in Strange Hollow. Those looking for a not so typical paranormal need look no further.

Needing stability in her life, Darcy MacLeod is building that with a friend by starting a nursery/gift shop in a small coastal town. Her childhood was spent as an Army brat, traveling the world and now as an adult, she has a bad track record with past relationships. In walks Griffin Moore and she knows that he will keep her off balanced when he’s around. She spends a lot of time promoting the business, but still finds time to figure out her feelings for him.

A famous concert pianist and Interpol informant, Griffin Moore needs to slow down and find some peace in his life. When he purchases a home and building for a recording studio in Monarch Bay, it’s the start of his friendship with Darcy. From the beginning, he demands honesty from her and gives it of himself, until his second secretive life interferes. Thus the adventure begins for them.

Defy the World Tomatoes kind of threw me with the title, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying reading about the stubborn determination of the owners of a nursery/gift shop. These two ladies are completely opposite in personalities and yet complement each other with their ability to succeed in business. The prologue set the stage for me to know what the storyline would be in the book and gave me a feel for the hero and heroine. I did expect more from the villain, since he was portrayed as a heartless bad guy, and he did show his true colors later in the story.

I love the way Ms. Conn used the setting of a small town but still managed to keep the overall picture of world travel in it. She created a believable plot of what a normal lifestyle, and how espionage can mess up every-day lives. There are so many vivid details in the description of the Zen garden, water fountain and beautifully landscaped yards, making the story more realistic for me. When he started out, most of the music Griffin played were from other composers but he eventually created his own and I wanted to hear every note he played.

Griffin Moore had too many underlying secrets that came to light for Darcy to overlook, and she gets a little spooked when she figures out what he is trying to hide. Griffin had a heart of gold, and to me it seemed like he needed Darcy for some stability in his life. Darcy is so expressive with her honest answers, when she gave them, and it is surprising how easily she sabotaged their relationship with negative talk. These two argued like most couples do, and yet I found them amusing with their ways of showing love.

The secondary characters contributed greatly to the story line, and helped me to better understand the plot. The ending of this book is filled with knowledge that Griffin and Darcy found disturbing, and I won’t give it away.

The war between demons and angels is valiantly fought while most humans are oblivious to the struggle. Parnell is a demon with a conscious. He performs small acts in an attempt to balance out the acts he is expected to perform.

His latest assignment has him paired once again with his lover Navarro. While Parnell’s feelings are deepening for the other demon, he refuses to acknowledge them. Navarro wants to align their powers, but Parnell rejects the idea of relinquishing them to anyone. That issue may become a moot point after encountering Chavez.

Chavez is a renegade angel-demon hybrid. He gained Parnell’s admiration for his acts of defying his leaders, but the physical attraction will have Parnell wondering if he and Navarro can find a permanent spot in their bed for the hybrid.

Trinity Trespass is a fascinating paranormal that takes us to the Southwest. When the dynamics of the organization were revealed, I could understand Parnell’s reluctance to give up control to another. Navarro wanted more than power. He was attempting to secure a partner, lover, and confidant. His patience was tested more than once, but he always figured out just what Parnell needed and was willing to give it to him. Chavez gives the relationship a balance that could not exist without him.

Val Kovalin’s Trinity Trespass is a fast-paced story with a sound plot that mixes action, suspense and heart-thumping erotic scenes geared to make a reader squirm. The unique complicated characters and newly formed triad left me hoping for a sequel.

Mella survives an attempt on her life and ends up becoming a thief in order to get back to Earth so she can take proof that her husband murdered three people in the attempt on her life. Unfortunately for her, Mella’s last victim happens to be the head of the Enforcers on Nexus and she ends up becoming his slave under the sentence given her.

I have to say that I was a little apprehensive about reading The Starlight Rite, as it is a major departure from the contemporary setting of Ms. Sinclair’s other books. I should not have worried as the author once again has a winner. The author has created a very rich society that gives us a different approach to crime and punishment. A reader will understand the explanations of Nexus laws very easily. Mella’s beliefs will cause a lot of emotional angst as she learns the difference between Earth’s expectations and Nexus laws.

The chemistry between Mella and Dain is explosive and I suggest that ice and fans be kept on hand. Mella has to learn to trust Dain, but almost becomes a victim again before she does. There is a little bit of a twist at the end when Mella attends The Starlight Rite with Dain and ends up getting more than she bargained for. This story is very fast paced and a reader will be hard pressed to put it down. This is one that will be read again and again and I hope there is more about Nexus in the future.

Cody Donner is not your average werewolf, nor does Cody fit into the thin boundaries of what the pack considers normal. Watching his mate, James Barker, from a distance is the only future Cody can hope for. However, Barker has a different future in mind for Cody. Barker has never agreed with the pack banishing Cody. Therefore, when Barker finds Cody sitting in a bar drinking alone, Barker vows to keep Cody at his side for the rest of their lives.

Marked is a well-paced action plot of two werewolves on the run. The characters are credible. The lovemaking is amazing. Cody and Barker have been mated for ten years. Both were members of a city pack called the Clan. Cody was driven away because of a deformity, though Barker regarded Cody’s difference as special, not a deformity. Cody tries to stay far away from Barker; nevertheless, watching Barker from a distance is the only thing that can ease Cody’s loneliness. Cody feels ashamed that Barker is mated to a defective wolf. Barker feels empty without Cody. Together Cody and Barker explore the possibilities of a cure, finally gaining the answers they seek. However, the Clan refuses to abandon their mission to destroy Cody.

The plot exhibits a realistic representation of social prejudice instigated by a constricted mentality leader, along with the support of his mindless followers. Sean Michael has created an emotionally impressive saga that I vastly enjoyed.

Aurora has grown up loved but has always known she was different from the other shifters in the village in which she lived. Her adoptive mother has told her many things about her mother but Aurora’s just as certain that there are just as many things being kept secret from her. She’s discovered several things on her own; the first being her affinity for any weapon that she puts a hand too and second, the love of two panther shifters—Domi and Nado.

On the morning following their mating, everything changes when the first of many secrets are revealed that will change all their lives. This starts the new triad on a journey of discovery they never expected. Who is Aurora? Why was she taken? What does Destiny have in store for them? When they get the answers, it will set them on a path they never imagined.

Warrior’s Dawn is the first release in Lacey Thorn’s new shape-shifter series Blood Magic. It has a definite slant toward fantasy with components of magic, prophecy, fate and a goddess ordained birthright. The prologue was nicely executed and is a great help in setting up the background of Aurora’s family history and what led to her current life, without its inclusion, the story would have been much more difficult to explain.

Aurora is an interesting young woman. She’s strong of body, will and determination, knows what she wants, and in the beginning of the story that means Domi and Nado. These three have danced around each other for years and when the time is right they come together with blistering hot passion, desire and love. Ms. Thorn has done a nice job juggling the dynamic and bossy personalities of three Alphas and done it so that the triad stays in balance. While the numerous sexual encounters between Aurora, Domi and Nado are well written, for a release of 87 pages, they overweigh the story.

There are several secondary characters and they play varying degrees of importance, but all help to round out the story and move it forward. The villain isn’t a surprise to anyone but his nephew King Aslan, but his personality is crafted perfectly to fit the position and his dastardly deeds are vile and well described. Many questions are left unanswered but as this is an ongoing plotline in a continuing series, it’s not a great surprise. I look forward to seeing what secrets are revealed in the next release Shifter’s Delight.

Drake is a genetically enhanced police officer. He likes his sex and his scotch straight up and his women voluptuous. He doesn’t do relationships, but that thinking changes after he spends time with Hunny Lapin. She is perfect for the big man. Her lush body and strawberry scent have Drake reaching for the cream, and ready to cream. When Hunny calls, Drake is more than willing to protect and serve up some erotic fun. Regardless of the trouble that helping her brings, Drake knows it’s worth the effort.

Hunny and Drake had me ready to continue my quest for a man with a badge. Their hot and steamy encounters had me squirming in my seat, wishing for a reason to be searched by the local hot cop. Badge Bunny is a very interesting story and a wonderful addition to the Protect and Serve series.

It’s so nice to have a character fully contemplate the enjoyment that can be received by a lush body. I liked Drake off the bat. He knows what he likes and refuses to accept less. Hunny is no wilting flower. She’s strong and determined, which is the combination needed to keep Drake on his toes.

Badge Bunny is has some action, suspense and a policeman with loaded weapons that he isn’t afraid to use. Pick up a copy and enjoy.
