Sitting in a nightclub, Theo Bourne spies Carlos Ramirez sitting at a table across the room. Theo is not looking for a relationship but he is definitely interested in a one night stand with Carlos. However, Theo’s one night quickly evolves into a twofold relationship when, on his first day on the job at the Columbus Police Department’s Preternatural Task Force, Theo discovers that Carlos is his work partner, and his bed partner, since Carlos refuses to sleep without Theo at his side.
The Hunting Moon has a fantastic gripping, action-suspense plot blended with hilarious dialog, along with steamy lovemaking. The setting is Columbus , Ohio . The characters are creditable. Theo is a detective, as well as a powerful phantom, that comes across as snarky and bad-tempered. However, underneath that persona, Theo really cares about saving people from the bad guys. Brutally rejected by his extremely religious parents for having supernatural powers, in addition to being gay, Theo was rescued by his aunt who has loved him as a son since his birth. Because of a cheating ex-boyfriend, Theo is determined to never have a long term relationship again, but Carlos slowly destroys all of Theo’s defenses until resistance becomes futile for Theo.
