It’s taken a long time for Brick to get where he is now.  Discharged under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Brick thought that was the worst that could ever happen to him.  When he loses his parents he spirals out of control, using alcohol to ease his problems.  But now, thanks to the help of Eli and Geoff, Brick is finally feeling human again.  When Eli asks him to help out with another former Marine suffering PTSD, Brick can’t say no.  Little does he know just what helping Cody will mean.

Love Means ….Patience is the latest release by author Andrew Grey and is part of the Love Means series.  This story is a little different from the others in this series as both men suffer from PTSD as a result of their time in the military.  While, for the most part, the author handles the issue of PTSD realistically, there are some times when it is obvious that poetic license has been used.  At first this threw the story off a little for me, but that quickly passed as the two men, Cody and Brick, pulled me into their story.

Brick has been living with PTSD for some time and thanks to those around him has learned to live with it.  Unfortunately for Cody he has not been so lucky, and when he finds out his lover has died in action, he is thrown into a flashback so deep, he no longer knows where reality starts.  The fact that Brick knows what the younger man is going through makes him the perfect one to help Cody.

I like the way the author handles this delicate subject.   Mr. Grey realistically showcases how easy the simplest thing can throw someone into a flashback.  He also has many of the other symptoms down pat as well.  While the matter of Cody only getting help from Brick is unrealistic, the author clears this up in the end.

The final scenes in this story are very well done.  I love the closure Brick was able to bring to his lover, and while there is no mention of it in the book, I hope that Brick was able to find that same closure.

Love Means …. Patience is a well done story and a great addition to this long running series.  I love seeing previous characters show up and hope there will be more stories to follow.  Those who have not yet given this author a try should do so.
