Liam and Aidan have been together for a little over two years now, and in all that time neither have really talked much about their families.  All that changes when distant relatives of Aidan’s call for help.  When the men find themselves back in the States nothing turns out the way they thought it would.

The Noblest Vengeance is the newest addition to the Have Body, Will Guard series by author Neil Plakcy.  This is the type of series in which all the books must be read in order, so if you have not read the previous books you may not want to go any further in this review.

Liam and Aidan are still in France settling down into their new lives.  Everything seems to be going along fine, until Aidan gets a call from his family.  Liam does not seem to understand why Aidan is getting so involved and it is not long before tension arises between the two men.

There are two things I really love about this book.  One is the fact that these two men, regardless of how different they are from each other, are totally in love.  The second thing is that although they have been together for as long as they have, they are still learning about each other.  The author showcases both these things during the course of The Noblest Vengeance

The passion between Liam and Aidan is intense and they have the tendency to heat up the pages when they come together.   When the topic of family comes up, Aidan does not understand why Liam is not more forthcoming.  While in New Jersey for business Liam decided to drop in on his family after a call from his sister Jeannie.  When Aidan, and the readers, learn more about the things Liam went through, everything becomes clearer.  I could not believe Liam’s family!  His mother and sisters are a real piece of work, and as bad as it may sound I could not blame Aidan for backhanding Liam’s sister, Jeannie.

As usual with stories in this series there is also a mystery woven throughout the book.  Actually in this one there are two.  There are many twists and turns which will keep you guessing as to what is going on, however, one of the things that is clear is that everything would have gone smoother, had the Aidan’s family not kept so many secrets.
