Nerves almost got the best of her when Laura looked out into the crowd and into the blue eyes of the man she still wanted.

Instead of dancing for Mark, Laura is forced to dance with him. Laura finds it hard to mask the feelings she has for Mark and she’s confused by the signals she’s getting from him. How could Mark respond to her with such passion while his wife was standing by watching? He was married now, so that meant Mark was off limits. Wasn’t he?

Laura and Mark hadn’t seen each other in years until fate brings them together, much like it had in the past. Things are hot and heavy between the two of them from the moment they meet in the club. Mark challenges Laura to the ultimate game of Truth Or Dare and Laura finally tells the truth. Up until this point in the story, I had no idea what was going on in Mark’s head. I knew he’d gotten married, but honestly I didn’t care at all. With the kind of history he and Laura had, there was no way they weren’t meant to have a future together. It would have been a shame to see their bond broken because of a misunderstanding. Readers will appreciate this short story because it’s a wonderful reminder of what can happen when we let down our shields and take a chance.

Perfect Timing is a fascinating action packed comical romance of two unlikely paranormals mated. However, the plot illustrates the increased survival benefits of their union. Valentin has been poisoned from drinking tainted blood, unable to feed; Valentin is slowly starving to death. Valentin soon discovered he can tolerate Shawn’s blood plus gain loss strength. Valentin still retains some of his powers which are a benefit during several deadly attacks on them both. Valentin has lost some of his ability to scent different species; Shawn is a great scent tracker. Valentin is a bit of a romantic as well as easily hurt by negative words. Shawn has a touch of a snarky attitude mostly due to his bewilderment of being mated to a male vampire. Shawn was never attracted to men prior to meeting Valentin. There are a couple of brief intimate scenes, although the main focus of the plot is dramatic action rather than detailed lovemaking.

Aimée Brissay’s Perfect Timing is a thrilling and enjoyable happy-for-now saga with enough of an open ending to continue Valentin and Shawn’s exciting adventures.

Curtis’s Dads is the 23rd story in the ongoing Brac Pack series. While the majority of the characters are ones we already know, their quirkiness keeps the stories entertaining and the readers coming back for more. Curtis’s Dads is about two of those characters. When we first meet Curtis, he was a 15 year old boy coming to terms with the changes in his father’s life, as well as the growing knowledge that, like his father, he was also gay. In this book, Curtis is 20 and ready to experience the sexual side of being gay. The problem is his fathers and his uncertainty of what to do once he realizes one of the Lakeland bears is his mate. Both issues are sure to leave the readers laughing but I would advise you not to drink during the scenes where Curtis decides to ask the mates about sex, as these scenes are truly over the top and had me laughing out loud more than once. Chauncey is all bear, but of the gentle variety, until it comes to protecting his mate. The connection between these two men shines through clearly for all to see. The gentleness Chauncey shows his mate is heart-warming but the sex between them is just as hot as any of the other couples. When Curtis’s past comes out, Chauncey, as well as his brother Chance, truly show their wild side.

There is the usual mention of the problems faced by the pack and other paranormals. Just when I think I know what’s going on and who the bad guys are, the author throws in a few new twists and turns, which of course leaves me eagerly waiting for the next book to come out. This book is one I will be reading again and should not be missed.

Bone Idol is the first release in Paige Turner’s new M/M historical series, Past Perfect. Generally historical books aren’t my thing but knowing it was set during the thrilling time when scientists and fortune hunters were scouring the world for dinosaur bones caught my interest. I knew I had to read it and wasn’t disappointed. The descriptions of the reserved public demeanor of the characters are spot on, as is the imagery of the weather, clothing and various means of transportation, indicating considerable research.

Then there’s Henry and Albert, both interesting and vastly different individuals. I like them and their willingness to be together despite the possible repercussions. The dinosaur hunting and the underhanded activity associated with it is nicely handled and historically accurate…well done Ms. Turner. Here’s where the bad guy comes in…and the author has created a real nut job with this guy and after reading the epilogue, they’ll have to continue to deal with him in the next book, too.

There’s a lot going on in this short length, passion, desire, deceit, betrayal and plenty of twists and turns to keep your attention. There are also numerous interesting secondary characters involved in the hunt, some family, scientists or others out for money. My only niggle is that there’s a few spots where it feels like it jumps from one scene to another too quickly, pulling me out of the story.

However, upon reflection Virgil realizes how empty his life was before meeting Johnny. Virgil refuses to abandon his home life for the sake of his career. Johnny realizes he has the life he always wanted, a loving partner and children.

JM Cartwright’s Winning in a Landslide is an enjoyable, as well as an especially heartwarming story.

He gets the nanny job and loves it…and it’s just what Jeff and the kids needs…but with all the changes in their lives, are they ready to think of making a family together?

Daddy, Daddy and Me is a fun, sweet and entertaining release by Sean Michael. I love the opening. After a brief introduction to Donny, the story jumps right into the craziness of Jeff’s new life with the kids…think bleeding dad, screaming infant and a toddler running around naked, covered with marker. It made me chuckle and the vivid imagery is just one example of how the author brought the story to life. The children, adorable Robbie and baby Kimberly, are great little scene stealers and I really appreciate that they stayed a vital part of the plot instead of being relegated to the background.

Then there’s Donny and Jeff. These two are great, likeable characters. Donny is loving, cute and is nuts about kids, and then there’s Jeff, a talented chef who’s determined to take care of his babies while reeling from the defection of his lover. The two make a wonderful couple and while they might get together a little quickly, it makes sense as plotted and is handled realistically. Be aware that unlike many of Sean Michael’s books, there are a limited number of sex scenes, instead concentrating on the emotional side of their relationship, and turning the four of them into a family.

It’s heartwarming, tender and just made me feel good. Yes, it’s sweet, and Jeff’s ex-Mitch might have been a little over the top as a bad guy but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. In fact, I’ll be reading Daddy, Daddy and Me again sometime in the future. Good going, Sean Michael.

Maggie married Phillip, not realizing that both Phillip and Jonathan wanted to be her husbands in a relationship. During the time that Maggie comes to terms with what both men want, several things happen that make her question her decision about the future.

The second installment of the Brothers In Arms series is intense and brings some of the characters from the first book, as well as some new secondary characters that add to the story. Love Under Siege continues the threat from a man all are familiar with, due to his actions in a dual and his revenge against this group of men. The series also encompasses a lot of men that served together under one commander during wartime. Part of the salvation of the men was that, as pairs, they shared a woman and were also lovers.

Some of Maggie’s angst is how she feels about the society she is a part of. She knows that her reputation will be in shreds among the ton if she chooses to do as Phillip and Jonathan wants. I can understand some of Maggie’s feelings as she has grown up in a very rigid society with very stringent rules of behavior. Any deviation could ruin a reputation or family.

I will warn you right now that the scenes between the three are so hot, they scorch the page. Keep ice and fans on hand as you will need them while reading this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I will also be reading this again.

Gravity is the newest release in Sean Michael’s Hammer series and my new favorite. It’s not a fun, easy or lighthearted story but begins on a serious note as Hunter deals with the pain of his ex-lover coming back to town. The subject matter only gets more intense as the story progresses and he’s forced to deal with seeing Forrest hurt and the guilt of feeling it was his fault. In this case, it’s not just a minor beating but a severe gay bashing where Forrest almost dies and it results in life changing emotional and physical scars.

The story is well plotted and written; the personal history between Forrest and Hunter is complicated and it’s filled with pain, fear and uncertainty as they get Forrest through rehab and deal with his permanent disability. We also get plenty of chances to see Hammer regulars Jack and Oliver, along with some of the others.

Like I said, Gravity’s not an easy book to read but I found the story fascinating and pretty much read it straight through. The BDSM aspect is light, dealing instead with Hunter making amends and the men learning to trust each other again as Forrest heals. So if you’re expecting lots of sex, as is typical in a Hammer story, you’ll be disappointed. But if you want a story of love, patience, redemption and healing, then this Master standing by the sub he loves story will find a warm place in your heart.

The plot features the murder mystery, a touch of drama when Adrian is attacked, sensual lovemaking plus the disposal of the mentally infected killer.

Amber Kell’s Talan’s Treasure is an impressive, as well as exceptionally enjoyable, romantic suspense.

A beautiful BDSM story where patience wins the heart of a brave woman.

Highland Tryst by Eliza Knight - 4.5 Nymphs

Kari trips over Fin after he is transported to the present by a witch on the battlefield where he almost lost his life.

This was a fun story with a lot of misunderstandings.

Tattoo Witch by Kathy Kulig - 3.5 Nymphs

Sam and Anita end up getting tattoos that come with good things and curses.

I was actually a little disappointed with this story. There were some places it seemed a little redundant and others confusing.

The Addiction by Jaid Black - 5 Nymphs

Shelli is fired after another disastrous performance, but has caught the eye of John Calder.

I enjoyed the humor in this story and had to laugh at a lot of Shelli’s antics. A good love story, this is the sequel to The Possession.

Some of the stories in Something Wicked This Way Comes don’t really seem to belong in a book with this title. Most seem to be straight forward love stories, with a few minutes of angst. Only one seemed to really embody the title. I’ll admit this did throw me a little because it ended up being a totally different mindset as I read. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy most of the stories and a few I would have liked to know more about the characters. The chemistry between the couples was intense and you could see some of the emotions coming through. There are a few stories I will read again in this book.

Christmas Homecoming is release 12.1 in Sean Michael’s Hammer series. It’s another fun and entertaining short, just what I’ve come to expect from an annual holiday story. That this one involves a returning serviceman who happens to be a sub in an established relationship just makes this release all the more poignant. It also allows them to delve immediately into the problems Joey has on returning…issues only Grady, as his Dom, can help with.

The author did a wonderful job showing Grady’s loneliness for Joey, affecting his entire life. This also allows the entrance of Jack and Oliver, bringing in the beloved Hammer characters, grounding the story and pulling Grady into the auction action. I love the surprise twist at the auction and the reaction of both Grady and Joey on seeing each other. As you can imagine there’s lots of blistering hot sex in this story of love reunited but that doesn’t mean that sub Joey doesn’t get the discipline he wants and needs. So, if you’re in the mood for a BDSM story filled with love between established partners, give this well written holiday gem a try.

A Summit City Christmas is a holiday short and part of the Sno Ho series. The story, narrated by Boone briefly highlights the personalities of friends, family as well as the difference in Wade and Boone’s backgrounds. Boone is somewhat of a pampered princess with an opinion on everything including the décor of Wade’s traditional Christmas tree. Wade is attempting to hold on to his small town values, but he is slowly losing the battle because of his love for and from Boone. In order to fully savor A Summit City Christmas, I suggest reading the beginning story Sno Ho followed by Life in Fusion. The characters are outrageously funny as well as incredibly enjoyable, especially Boone.

Merry Kinkmas was a fun story to read. I had to laugh at some of the antics Phoebe did to try to get Matt’s attention. The emotions and chemistry between the two are very intense.

Phoebe gets a crash course in BDSM when the elevator gets stuck. Several things happened that could have been bad but in this case, it was fantastic for Phoebe. One of the security issues about elevators was covered by the author. This is a story I am going to read again especially at this time of the year in the future.

Nash is a risk but one Brody’s willing to take and before long, the two are deeply in love. But soon tragedy strikes again when a hit-and-run accident returns Nash’s memory.

The real Nash is a ruthless businessman. When he wakes in a hospital bed after the hit-and-run, he doesn’t remember the last six months, so has no idea a killer is after him. Brody is desperate and accidentally ends up as Nash’s bodyguard. The two clash from the beginning and when Brody catches glimpses of his lover inside the ‘real’ Nash, he has hope. The question is whether he can keep Nash safe from a killer long enough for him to remember their love.

Unshakeable Faith is the latest release by Lisa Worrall. It’s a well written, entertaining and heartwarming book. It’s filled with interesting characters, has a smooth flow, a unique premise and is a wonderful romance. Brody’s a great guy and the development of his personality is nicely done. He’s physically imposing and is a kind, caring and protective man, so it’s no wonder he opens his heart and home to Nash.

The background Ms. Worrall created to explain Nash’s circumstances are heart-wrenching. Instead of dwelling heavily on his amnesia, she instead allows Nash to move on with his life, developing a committed loving relationship with Brody. And while it’s sweet and touching, it isn’t rushed. The big change comes when Nash regains his memory...he isn’t a very nice person…he’s an unmitigated jerk… and nothing like the Nash of the first half. The personality Ms. Worrall gave him is so different; it’s difficult to like him at all.

There are plenty of secondary characters spread throughout the story, some at Brody’s bar and others at Nash’s home. I particularly like Wyatt, Brody’s childhood friend and Hannah, who’s known Nash since he was a kid. They both really added some fun and spice to their scenes. And let’s not forget the villain trying to kill Nash. By the end, his identity might not have been a big surprise but the reasons behind his actions are.

I do have a niggle on the speed at which Brody forgave Nash. After what happed, it seems unrealistic. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying the overall story. So, if you like reading a well plotted romance with two fascinating guys in a story of love and loss and love given a second chance, then give this one a try.

The Birches is an intriguing plot of obtaining goals and happiness. Leo is obsessed with proving himself worthy of the faith his supporting parents had in his ability to be a great chef. Leo’s technique is the best in his class. However, Leo’s visually appealing dishes lacked taste appeal. Dock has no formal training, yet his dishes are in demand, proof by the always packed restaurant. Dock is very attracted to the uptight Leo and decides to romance him with cooking lessons. Dock teaches Leo the true technique for preparing a savory dish is the passionate blending of the ingredients creating an orgy in a bowl the same way a man would caress his lover.

Cal Masterson is a werewolf who might have infected Liv when he bit her. She doesn’t seem to believe his story though. There isn’t much time to convince Liv, but Cal keeps trying. Hopefully when she learns the entire truth, Liv will forgive him.

All it took to change Liv’s life forever was Just One Bite. Something about Cal felt right, so Liv just couldn’t resist him. He turns out to be the missing piece to a puzzle in Liv’s life. This story unfolds in a most amusing and unexpected manner and I think readers will appreciate that. There are some kooky moments that made me grin as well, like their first meeting. Barbara Elsborg has packed a lot into this quick read, so readers should definitely pick it up.

In the fifth book of the Welcome to Sanctuary series, Thanksgiving in Sanctuary unites the Ryans with their children and their respective spouses. The author did a good job portraying Anna’s feelings and insecurities. One thing that came through is how much the brothers loved Anna.

There was a surprise within the story that I am not sure what to make of it. Does this mean there will be another story about Winter? In some ways this seemed out of place, though the outcome of this mini drama was great. I also had to laugh at some of the antics.

I like the idea of a wedding on Thanksgiving, even though it makes for a lot of work. The fact that there is a special ceremony for the triad relationship is wonderful. One thing the author did gloss over was some of the problems that Anna, Martin and Robert will possibly encounter since they won’t be living in Sanctuary. I do think this book brought the series full circle and I will be reading this series again. Readers should read the rest of the series before reading Thanksgiving in Sanctuary.

The couple wasn’t shy, especially when it came to Page 93. Raelynn was a curious mix because on one hand, she seemed reserved but on the other hand, that woman had some brass balls. I was shocked by her honesty more than once. Alec had no idea what he was in for when he moved next door to Raelynn. He was such a good sport about the neighbors. After learning how his wife died, my heart went out to him.

In such a short time, they truly got to know each other. Maggie Montgomery reminded me of the pros and cons of living in a small town. Her description of the neighbors brought me fond memories and I actually visualized some of the scenes. My favorite scene happened when Alec and Raelynn walked to the store and had a tense moment with a neighbor, Mary Jo. Page 93 has an adorable down home feeling that readers are sure to like. If you love Southern charm, you will appreciate this short romance.

Collin’s Awakening is the first release in the new series by Lynn Hagen and Stormy Glenn, Phoenix Rising. When I read the blurb and realized Collin was a phoenix, I was intrigued. It’s a rare shifter in a paranormal story and I was anxious to see what these two talented authors would do with this special race and I wasn’t disappointed. They’ve created an enjoyable and entertaining story with two unique and interesting characters in Collin and Riojos.

The opening with Collin waking up in the morgue wasn’t expected and his horror was nicely expressed. The same goes for Riojos and his drunken reaction to losing his lover. Physically, the men are typical of other shifters they write…smaller/ weaker versus larger/stronger but both have big personalities that they’ve convincingly brought to life with vivid personal details. But the story has more. It’s filled with passion, desire, love, fear and uncertainty as they try to stay alive.

There are numerous secondary characters scattered throughout the story and I admit I loved the inclusion of Collin’s parents and Riojos’s brother. These three really grounded the story in family…and then there’s fellow cop Tony, who we’ll see more of in the next release, Kyle's Return. And let’s not forget the bad guys out to capture Collin. They’re just part of the plot threads left dangling at the end of the story. I assume more details regarding them and the mystery surrounding the phoenix will be revealed later.

Devin owns Devin Hill Dance Studio and he exhibits discipline in his dancing, as well as his personal life. Devin’s relationship with Caleb encouraged him to relax his tight control enough to start enjoying the simple things in life. Their budding relationship is going well until the night Caleb rescues a woman from a serial rapist, that’s when the sex demon jumps from the dying rapist’s body into Caleb. Unable to control his sexual urges, Caleb ends the relationship with Devin. With the help of friends and family, Caleb’s true personality is restored.

Kimberly had been kidnapped and was up for sale, again, after stabbing her last Master. Raoul had taken it upon himself to try to find her for some friends and letting the FBI monitor what he was doing.

To Command and Collar is the latest in the Masters of the Shadowlands series and I think the author has outdone herself with this one. The intensity of the emotions between the main characters kept you on your toes and I did not want to put this book down. Kimberly overcomes a lot of her fears about a Dom/sub relationship under Raoul’s tender training. Any woman that had gone through what Kimberly had would need someone like Raoul, but still may not be able to handle a lot of real day to day living.

The author brought the very harsh conditions of the slave trade to light and there were times I wanted to kill some of the slavers. The problems of trying to stop these types of people are very real and the author obviously did a lot of research for this book. The Masters at Shadowlands consciously go out of their way to make sure that Kimberly and the others are safe and feel safe, which is a huge thing in this lifestyle. I really liked the creative way the author gave the women safe words that would protect them, despite the situation some of them were in.

A lot of the previous couples show up in this book as secondary characters. Even though you don’t have to read the previous books, per se, you do need to read Make Me, Sir before reading To Command and Collar. I also recommend you keep tissue on hand as some scenes are tearjerkers. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Master Sam.

At a mere 4K, the set-up details are limited but those used give a good idea of what Aiden is feeling. And did I mention the blistering hot sex. These two guys…these bonded mates are smoking hot together. Since reading the first novel, I’ve been hoping for the sequel. What about it, Ms. Baumbach…a sequel…please???

Len feels angry and guilty by his growing feelings for the newly hired Chris, feelings that are understandable given the fact that his husband has recently died. Chris is attracted to Len but can’t understand why the rancher hates him so much, which makes Chris wonder about sticking around.

It was fun getting the chance to finally see the beginning of this relationship. The connection between the men is one that had to be worked on, rather than the usual intense instant attraction that readers may be used to. Geoff and Eli make an appearance, helping Len and Chris find their way in their changing relationship.

Love Means…Healing is a fast paced novella that will hit the spot as you wait for the author’s next release.

The Love He Squirreled Away is release three in Scarlet Hyacinth’s unique and imaginative Mate or Meal series. It’s another fun and entertaining addition to the series and probably the most unlikely couple so far. I have to admit that when I initially read the blurb, I had doubts about Soren and Daniel as a mated pair but Ms. Hyacinth pulled it off, creatively and realistically getting and keeping them together.

One of the biggest problems is that Soren’s the pack Alpha and needs cubs, but that hurdle was handled nicely and was a non-issue, bringing a wonderful female wolf into the story. It also starts a series of twists and turns leading to deceit, danger and action-packed scenes as Soren and Daniel strive to protect each other and the cubs. Here we also get reintroduced to Skylar and meet ruthless shark shifter, Byron. This series is filled with interesting personalities and I know that these two will be important in the future and can’t wait to learn more about them. But that’s not all. There are a few others in the villain category, butting into Soren and Daniel’s life, trying to destroy or bend it to his will.

Back to Daniel and Soren. I love these guys, especially Daniel and how some of his squirrel tendencies come out while in human form, while Soren is protective, dominant and stubborn. If you like reading shifter stories with love, passion, action, danger and wolf cubs, you’ll likely appreciate and enjoy this one. Watch for The Lynx Who Claimed the Sun coming next.

Brian is the only person who can calm Derek’s temper. Although the whole story is entertaining, I especially enjoy Derek in his wolf form.

Grayson’s Gamble is release five in Marie Harte’s Dawn Endeavor series and it’s another fun, well written and entertaining addition to the family of books. Please be aware that the lives of the characters are highly intertwined, so the books would be best read in order.

There’s just something about the circs and the world they live in that I find fascinating, and I can’t seem to get enough to them. It’s filled with action from beginning to end and watching Gray and Bas fuss at and annoy each other is great fun. And you can’t forget the simmering sexual attraction or blistering hot sex either, which only gets hotter when Ali arrives on the scene. The bantering dialogue is fun and nicely done, the characters well rounded and interesting, and the plot flows smoothly from scene to scene.

The villains and his minions are at work, which means danger, thrills and suspense while Gray, Bas and Ali try to stay alive. All this happens while integrating the romance into the story and Ms. Harte does it successfully, and still gives our trio a happily-ever-after.

Angels on Top is an amazing upbeat story. From the beginning, I was impressed by the hilarious banter. Yet humor is not the sum total of the plot. The storyline exhibits admirable examples of emotional turmoil, in addition to mental abuse. Angelo’s parents, especially his father, are fanatical control freaks. Angelo was not allowed to have his own opinions or make his own choices. Sadly this is a reality for many people. Being raised in a homophobic environment, Angelo has problems recognizing his feelings for Marlowe as love beyond friendship. Angelo had the painful task of retraining his mind to observe himself and others without gender labels, also to accept that love is love, no matter what their sexual characteristics are. Openly gay Marlowe desperately tries to present a smiling face to the world while hiding his unreciprocated love for Angelo. Marlowe’s fantasy is to find someone who can love him for who he is.

N.J. Nielsen’s Angels on Top is a beautiful happily-ever-after saga. The splendid characters are thoroughly enjoyable, inspiring a warm and comfy sensation around the region of the heart.

Kurt’s life get’s more uncertain when his growing attraction to Davy causes him to question his sexual identity and then a brief sexual encounter between them only complicates his life further. One thing is clear, if he wants to be with Davy that means Kurt coming out of the closet, endangering his job and the relationship with his family and friends. Can he risk everything on the chance to be with a still grieving man?

Cop Out is the first book by K.C. Burn I’ve read but it won’t be the last. “Gay for you” books can be tough to write but this author did a good job, starting Kurt and Davy off as friends and allowing their relationship to build, slowing changing it to something deeper and stronger. It’s truly a case of love born out of tragedy and instead of appearing tacky, Ms. Burn handled it with creativity and taste.

It begins with the action packed scenes leading to injury and death that set up the entire plot. It’s not a usual start but it’s dramatic and caught my attention, pulling me into the story. The personalities of both Kurt and Davy are well developed, as are those of the other characters. I particularly enjoyed Simon (Kurt’s new partner) and his easy acceptance and friendship. And then there’s Kurt’s huge family. I loved their inclusion in the story and Kurt’s fear of losing them over his coming out of the closet is expressed well.

There’s plenty of misunderstandings and pain to work through for Kurt and Davy as they deal with their individual problems. So be prepared for lots of angst and unhappiness but never fear, it does work out in the end. I’d love to see a story featuring Kurt’s brother Ian, who also confessed that he is gay during the book.

Suspense is an apt description for Take Me Home. There is the trepidation of waiting for the journal to reveal its secrets, as well as the anticipation of an elevation in Kyle and Evan’s relationship. The well written plot feeds the reader a small experience at a time before the venue shifts, such as Kyle and Evan stand close enough to kiss but then the spell is broken and they move away from each other. It is edgy scenes like this that had me wishing I could bump their heads together. However, as the story unfolds, there are several breathtaking displays of exquisite lovemaking.

Kyle and Evan are similar in many ways. They share a childhood past, both are writers though in different careers, both are secretly in love with each other and neither man wants to do anything that will jeopardize their friendship. What is different is that Kyle prefers one night stands, where as Evan wants a long term relationship. Kyle and Evan both suffer with feelings of insecurity, which is the source of their numerous outbursts of anger with each other. There are several dramatic events regarding the journal, adding more anxiety to Kyle and Evan’s already strained friendship. Discovering the journal’s secrets grasp the reader until the very end.

Sloan Parker has created a marvelous saga that I found absolutely enjoyable. Take Me Home is an emotionally engaging arousing romance blended with mystery, a touch of humor as well as a wealth of excitement.

This is not a warm and fuzzy type trilogy/book…it’s dark, moody and somber, involving a terrible conspiracy that deepens as the story progresses into this second book. That means a good deal of world-building and I have to say the authors have done a very nice job, developing the details that bring this story alive. The plot is terribly complex and filled with information as it moves everyone involved toward the final confrontation with the bad guys in the upcoming final release.

I like Sam. I think anyone can understand how horrible it would be to not remember anything about your life. The author’s expression of his fear, nervousness, unease and uncertainty is very nicely done. And then there’s Doug. Mr. Uber Alpha Wolf. He’s a little harder to like. The personality created for him is hard around the edges but at heart, he’s protective and caring. It just takes time to get over his attitude problems.

Add these things together with sizzling hot sex, interesting secondary characters and good dialogue and you have everything needed for an entertaining paranormal read. Look for Splintered Lies, coming in March 2012.

First Contact is the second release in Mark Alders’ series Starship Cadet Missions. Mr. Alders again does a nice job with his world-building, starting on their ship, the Mandrake, and moving out to the original alien ship. There are several attention-grabbing twists and turns here but where it really gets interesting is when the guys meet up with a second alien race, the Cyatheales…a race of trees. I have to say this really surprised me and I thought the concept and details are particularly well done. It’s here that the story really took off and the vivid details of this new world made it come alive, all while our four young officers got themselves into trouble.

I like Ely, Emerson, Braden and Kale. They’re young, sexy, in love and energetic about everything they do but at times during the story, the author allows them to act too immature and unthinking for officers on important missions. I know it fits with the plotline but it jerks me out of the story a bit and truthfully, makes me grit my teeth.

After the events on the original alien ship, the new twists that involve representatives of the Cyatheales near the end are a shock. That sets the series up for the next release, Starship Cadet: Emissary, coming in June 2012.

Dallas agrees to pretend that Grace is his girlfriend to keep the public from finding out he is looking for his birth parents. Once he sees Grace, Dallas rethinks the pretending part and makes her his girlfriend for real.

Field of Play is the second book that the author has written about the Griffins football team. The story has some angst throughout, but be aware there is a lot of football in it too. I happen to like football and really enjoyed reading the descriptions and thought I was actually at some of the games, it was so descriptive.

Grace is tall, like an Amazon, and had been teased a lot at school growing up. Some of those feelings show up, especially when she finds out her main nemesis used to date Dallas. The author showed how childhood hurts and some past relationships can have a big bearing on current ones, especially when exes are vindictive.

Keep ice on hand as you read the scenes between Grace and Dallas because they are hot. Some of the secondary characters are from the first book, Quarterback Blitz, though you can read each alone, but you will get much more enjoyment if you read it first. I am looking forward to reading about some of these characters in future books, but do wish the author had tied them together as an actual series.

Eresse has created an absolutely amazing, thoroughly enjoyable romance. The incredible dual-gendered characters in By Chance Met are enormously heartwarming. I look forward to the next installment of this superb series.

Splash and Elegance by Gabrielle Evans is release thirteen in the Midnight Matings series. It’s well written, with an interesting, suspense filled plot but not my favorite of the group. Yes there’s almost instant sex and mating between Jude and Whitley but that doesn’t mean love and trust come easy for them. For a big portion of the story, it focuses on the secrets they’re both dealing with…especially Jude, and his arrogant attitude and disregard for Whitley feelings, taking away some of my enjoyment.

Eventually we discover the reason behind Jude’s actions and it kind of redeems him but only to a point, since he could have accomplished his task by another method. But by then I couldn’t find an emotional attachment to him, knowing how badly he’d treated his mate. That’s not the case with Whitley, who Ms. Evan gave a much more winning personality. He’s a real sweetie who deserved a better life and I enjoy how he managed to learn to stand up for himself in the end. He wasn’t a doormat any longer.

If you like suspense, drama, lots of sizzling sex, and plenty of misunderstandings all in a paranormal story, then give this one a try. Look for Monsters and Mayhem, coming next.

Surrounded by Pleasure picks up after the first book, Surrounded by Woods, ended in the Woods Family series. Because of the situation with the Woods family, Mikaela decides to become a matchmaker.

There are a lot of insecurities on everyone’s part as relationships progress, especially when Toby tries to resist being with Krista. I am not sure that I approve of the “that person’s taken but go ahead and have a sexual relationship with someone else” mentality. I understand why the author is going that route, but it takes me out of my comfort zone. That being said, the story is an interesting and emotional one. Be aware the author threw a monkey wrench in the mix in the epilogue.

Both stories can be read alone, but please read the series in order. Things make much better sense as you read, though explanations are in both books. Even though some information is a repeat, the author gives it a fresh feel in Surrounded by Pleasure. I can’t wait to see how things are going to be resolved in the next book. I will be reading this series again.

Stellan wanted Benji from the moment they met but when he didn’t have a mating scent, he agreed to mate with someone else. When he learns Benji’s in trouble, he can’t ignore it and sends enforcer Kody to check things out. What Kody learns is that Benji’s life is a mess and that he’s the mate of both him and the Alpha. If Benji is to survive the men intent on killing him, it will take both Kody and Stellan to keep him safe.

Cat’s Pride is the newest release by Stormy Glenn. I enjoy shifter books and while nothing about the premise is new, it still resonated with me. It’s an entertaining look into the lives of three men with enough problems to sink any relationship. Sweet Benji has had a rough existence and later been rejected by his bullheaded alpha mate, add in a second mate and you have story that sucked me right in. With him, Ms. Glenn created a man who suffered a type of abuse all his life, so it’s not surprising he didn’t seek help from the men beating him. I think she did a nice job showing the signs of his downtrodden personality without allowing the story to become maudlin.

Then Kody enters the picture. With him, Ms. Glenn shows two sides of his personality... big, dominant and unwilling to bend for anyone, versus his willingness to do anything for Benji. It was cute to see and nicely done, as was his hostility toward Alpha Stellan. The Alpha has a tough time mending fences with both his men but Ms. Glenn got him there, despite not deserving it.

The story is pretty straightforward. It’s about Benji and his fight to survive in a world that didn’t want him. Meaning there’s lots of pain, fear and feelings of rejection. But with Kody’s arrival, all of that changes and suddenly he feels hope, desire and passion. That doesn't mean that in order to get the happily-ever-after they want, the guys don't have to deal with the villains in a well scripted, action packed scene at the end. Yes, there are a few plot threads left dangling and some inconsistencies but that don’t mean it’s not enjoyable.

Reading J.P. Bowie’s exceptionally clever excerpt, my first impression is that this is a sinister tale and it is with heart stopping action, psycho killers and mayhem. However, interwoven into this nail biting thriller are extraordinary intimate scenes in glorious detail. He Ain't Heavy is a thoroughly enjoyable happy ever after murder mystery romance.

But no matter what, Bannon refuses to give up on Galen without a fight. And when the Council wants Galen on his next assignment, Bannon decides to use the time to win him over. Unfortunately, keeping Galen safe isn’t any easier than convincing him of what has been in front on him the entire time.

The new release in the Haven series is Back Roads. It’s a fun and entertaining book with some interesting dynamics between these two vastly dissimilar men. Bannon is a typical Alpha type male…big, dominant and protective and it drive him nuts that his mate won’t believe in their bond. Then there’s the much smaller and uncertain Galen. Ms. Evans did a nice job developing both their personalities and expressing why, after the terrible life he’s lead, Galen couldn’t accept his mate bond with Bannon. There’s also a nice sense of family with all the returning characters met in the previous releases.

The search Bannon and Galen go on is pretty intense and involves some interesting dream walking type scenes that I really enjoyed. There’s plenty of action and I liked that Galen got the chance to come to the rescue, which was a big surprise. At the end, there are a few threads left dangling and I still have a few questions that I assume will be answered in a future release. Watch for Invincible coming next.

Deep down, she knows something must be wrong for her to have these wanton reactions, but she is desperate to keep the strange blue dreams that have been haunting her ever since the lightning strike at bay. Hot, hard and frequent sex with two gorgeous, more than willing men seems to do the trick. Joe and Jack are willing to see where things will lead with their little minx, but can they accept all that Crystalline has to offer?

The characters in Transference are all genuine and likable, and interact very well together. The author’s style of writing suits this genre, making for an enjoyable read. It was refreshing to follow a plot that was a little out of the ordinary. It seemed to dare me to just let go and imagine how good it would be to give in to my more basic desires. The sex scenes were very animalistic and satisfying, but the overall storyline did seem a bit anti-climactic and lacked substance. However, the author did a good job of showing Crystalline’s inner turmoil as she tried to figure out what the changes she was going through would mean for her future and the way the world would view her behavior. Joe and Jack were nice enough guys, treating Crystalline very well, but I would have liked to see a bit more character development for them.

But before Dane and Zephen could become fully involved, Dane met tri-mate Theron and knew immediately that Theron was Zephen’s mate but what Dane did not realize is that he is the third.

Devin Grant wasn’t usually a first class jerk but today had been the day from hell. He hadn’t intended to be mean to the tall waitress who made his blood pressure soar, but he’d treated her horribly. If she didn’t spit in his food, it would be a miracle. And the cherry on top was that she thought Devin was gay.

The gun toting waitress Ronnie Fey had way too much going on to be distracted by the good looking man with the bad attitude. Finding a new internship, paying for law school, and studying for exams were keeping her more than busy. If Devin thought he could negate his bad behavior by making her his charity case, then he had another think coming.

Ronnie doesn’t understand why Devin wants her, especially after she tells him the awful truth about her family. Ronnie never thought she’d want any man, because the thought of being touched made her physically ill but Devin made her feel things she never expected. And Devon fell in love with Ronnie almost from the moment they met. Their happy ending is disrupted by Ronnie’s dysfunctional family as danger grows for Ronnie and Devin.

Devin may be the second story of The Grant Brothers series, but by no means does this story take a back seat to the first installment. Kathy S. Barton has made me fall in love with everyone in the Grant clan all over again. Devin Grant is a great lawyer and an honorable man. However, when he took his frustrations out on Ronnie, I wanted to kick him. I was so happy when Ronnie stood up to him, because Devin needed that. I love it when the woman makes the man work for her affections. Ronnie certainly did that. Ronnie is a hard working woman who overcame more than any one person should have to deal with. After learning some specific details about Ronnie’s childhood, I felt her shame and disgust as if it were my own. Picturing her as a little girl thinking about death as an escape truly upset me. I suggest keeping a tissue close by, because you just might need it. Sometimes, the worst situations produce the strongest people. I know that was the case for Ronnie. Her surrogate fathers were adorable and they added some levity that Ronnie needed. I was jealous of the love they showered Ronnie with. The dark twist and turns, I never saw coming, left me wondering if Devin will have emotional scars down the road. If you’re looking for a story to warm your heart, Devin is for you.

The Model is the newest release in Serena Yates series Workplace Encounters and it’s another fun and entertaining read to add to the family of books. It’s well written, has a good flow, nicely developed characters that seem like real people and an emotionally satisfying ending. I like these men. Fabio is especially interesting. Instead of being a stuck up snob, he’s down to earth…a nice guy that wants a lover who appreciates him for something other than his looks. Yes, his and Edwin’s relationship get off to a rocky start but so do lots of relationships and the author shows their uncertain feelings nicely. But I like Edwin too and he has serious trust issues to work through.

Even when their relationship gets on solid ground, there’s outside forces at work to break them up…a stalker, which mean fear, danger, intrigue and betrayal. Yes, I know a stalker isn’t a surprise with a celebrity character but it does work and make sense with Fabio’s fame. My only real problem with the stalker portion of the story is near the end when Fabio, his limo and driver go missing. It all fits into the plot but the way the police work his missing persons case…after all he’s rich and famous…didn’t seem realistic. Also the stalker is resolved abruptly. But despite these niggles, I still enjoyed the story and look forward to the next release The Cellar Hand coming soon.

It’s a well written and plotted tale that begins with a prologue from Bethany’s viewpoint. I have to tell you that I’m not usually a big fan of these but it gets the story off to a fast paced, action filled start and truthfully seems more like a chapter to me. But anyway. Ms. Walters has created a great female lead in Bethany. On one hand she’s a little shy, uncertain and beat up but underneath has a core of solid steel, which is needed to deal with all the dramatic changes in her life. Then there’s Quinn. His personality is equally well developed and I still want to know more about him. The author did a nice job expressing his and Bethany’s passion and desire, while at the same time dealing with their uncertainly and frustration, as they work through their problems.

There are plenty of secondary characters…some previously introduced and others new. Our villains are some of the new and the twist of one being a rich doctor/scientist was unexpected. This and Chrissten being found are just two threads left hanging for the future release. There are also a few hints of other possibilities along the way too. And I still want to know more about Quinn’s brother, Craig and the vampire, Damek…he’s a real mystery. Watch for Finding Chrissten, coming later in 2012.

In the third book of the Seduced by a Demon series, Playing For Keeps brings up unresolved feelings for both the main and secondary characters. The author takes a look at Teresa’s past and makes the point that people can change if they truly want to, though sometimes it comes about under duress. Damien has to come to terms with his feelings of resentment at his situation with Teresa.

The chemistry between the two is explosive, but I thought some of the storyline in the beginning was a little slow in revealing some of the issues with Teresa. The author did throw in a little twist that I did not see coming at the end, but it did resolves some issues that ran through the series. While you can read this book alone and get the gist of what happened in previous books, you will enjoy it much more if you read the books in order.

Also featured in the story is how extreme homophobia camouflages the true symptoms of the warped mentalities in Micah’s family. Wes and Micah struggle to find balance with family, as well as each other. The one thing Wes and Micah are sure of is that they belong together, especially after a dramatic life and death incident involving the both of them. Unlike Shakespeare, Romero and Julian is a heartwarming enjoyable saga with sensual lovemaking, as well as a happy-ever-after finale.

To Die For continues some of the theme from Deadly Crimson about vampire blood and a power struggle within the paranormal community and it’s Counsel. Confusion over feelings and perceived prejudices is the norm for one of the main characters.

Attacks that seem to come from nowhere and intrigue are the order of the day while Kaelen comes to terms with his feelings for Amy. The chemistry between the two is hot, but they are constantly interrupted while they come to terms with their emotions toward each other.

To Die For had a twist toward the end that you might get a hint of earlier in the book, but I was still a little surprised by it. While you can read this book alone, you will get much more enjoyment out of these books if you read them in order. I will be reading these again.

The story picks up with Allen and his brother needing to return to their pack for a brief period of time. Needing a protector, the Alpha of the Canis pack sends Bandit with the brothers. It’s not long before the connection between Bandit and Allen shows itself. These two work well together as their strengths and weaknesses balance each other out. The love between them is easy to see and I liked that the relationship flows so smoothly.

Love’s Baggage is not only about the men’s relationship. This story reveals the reason behind Grimm’s madness. It also discloses the whereabouts of Jess, as well as the future problems facing the Canis pack and others. This novella holds many key points that are important to the plot woven through this series and should not be missed.

This has been one of my favorite series since the release of Long Hard Ride and I’ve looked forward to Ben’s story for some time. I’ve always found him appealing and then to learn the author had given him the twist of being involved in the BDSM lifestyle was an unexpected shocker. I certainly didn’t see that one coming, but it fit in perfectly with the dominant but warm and caring personality that she developed for him. Way to go, Ms. James.

Okay, I admit it. There’s just something about the sprawling McKay family that I find enthralling. The huge number is amazing and the way the family members interact with each other is fascinating. Then add in how different each one is and the interesting women they get involved with and you can’t help but enjoy each and every book. Anisley is a perfect example. She’s independent, dynamic and totally professional on the outside but on the inside, she fits into the life of a western rancher perfectly. Ms. James has taken these two vastly different individuals, wrapped them in a well written, paced and plotted story and come up with a tale of passion, desire, love, acceptance and the importance of family. Sully is the latest release in the Zeus’s Pack series. Like the other stories, this book has a group of main characters that pull you right into their world. Sully is one of Zeus’s soldiers; he’s strong and tough, except when it comes to his mates. Austin is human and has no idea about the paranormal world that surrounds him. He is also a gentle soul, who tries very hard to protect himself with a hard exterior. Julien is something special but past history has taught him to keep to himself, even when others are trying to help him. The connection these three have comes through right away, but Sully has his work cut out for him. Once they get together, watch out as the passion these three have for each other is hot.

One of the things I enjoy about Ms. Hagen’s ongoing series is the fact that each has its own subplot, while at the same time continues to further the connecting plot that each series has. With the aide of wonderful secondary characters, some crossing over from the multitude of series the author has going, each new book continues to feel fresh and holds the readers attention until the last page. While the previous stories in the Zeus’s Pack series can be considered stand alones, the information that each story contains would help the reader better understand the history of each new book.

Dane has the ability to instigate laughter from anyone in his company. Between Dane’s exceptional lovemaking skills and his sparkling personality, Court’s tortured mind began to heal.

Finn Marlowe has created an outstanding saga exhibited in an upbeat scenario. The realistic main characters display an absolutely superb interaction as well as an amazing chemistry inside and out of the bedroom.

Kidnapping Anok seemed like a good idea, since Crank was just trying to keep him safe, but he’s so angry, Crank’s not so sure. With Anok refusing to be mated, Crank’s mating heat is almost out of control and he’ll go feral within days and need to be put down. For the safety of everyone on the Lady Blue, the only answer is for Crank to be sedated until they can decide what to do with him.

Since he’s never wanted a mate, his feelings for Crank confuse and unsettle Anok and he doesn’t know what to do. Then he learns Crank’s been sedated and everyone on board ship blames him and he doesn’t understand why. There’s only one person who can explain what being mated to the cougar shifter will mean and he’s unconscious in sick bay. Is Anok brave enough to have Crank awakened? And what will it mean for his life?

The latest release in the Lady Blue Crew series is Crank’s Craving and because the plot and characters continue from one book to the next, they should, in my opinion, be read in order.

Despite it being a fun read, it still has its fair share of angst and pain as Crank tries to deal with a mate who doesn’t understand or want him. Most of his problems stem from not talking to Anok and explaining what’s going on. Truthfully I have trouble with basing a book premise on two characters not talking. It’s a weak ploy that could easily resolve their problem with one conversation.

Still I like both Crank and Anok. They’re interesting guys individually and once they get their act together, make a great couple, but it takes a good half of the book for that to happen. During this time emotions between them run high with lots of pain, unease and distress. The authors did a nice expressing all of these feelings and making Anok understand what being Crank’s mate means. The initial claiming scene where Crank is mentally mostly cougar is handled nicely.

From this point the story shifts from being relationship to action driven as the Lady Blue and her crew try to escape from the Elite Force creeps chasing them. This portion not only brings in the other couples but also new crew members Mo and Mykel, who we’ll see as the couple featured in the next release, What Once Was Lost.

Tater’s Bear is the 22^nd release in the long running Brac Pack series. Fans of this series will remember Tater from a previous story and will therefore understand his reluctance to get involved with Olsen. Unfortunately, Olsen has many obstacles to overcome before he can claim his mate but once he does, their passion will burn up the pages. Even though I knew these two would eventually end up together; more than once, I thought that Tater’s issues would cause Olsen to walk away.

The continuing problem of Liquid Wrath, of course, causes problems for the many characters in the book and, as a result, new information is revealed that will surprise the readers. New characters are also introduced during the course of the story, many of whom I hope will get stories of their own soon. Tater’s Bear is a great addition to Ms. Hagen’s series and should not be missed.

Kyran walked into the locker room while Anna was trying to get out of her costume for the Griffins football team. Kyran has been trying to get Anna to take him seriously when he asks her out, but Anna can’t believe he wants her since she is ten years older than him.

Quarterback Blitz will keep you on the edge of your seat. The suspense the author created around both Kyran and Anna is intense and, at times, will surprise you. Anna is self-conscious of her body and her age. Kyran couldn’t care less. I loved the way Kyran let Anna know he was serious.

Both characters, as well as the secondary ones, are strong and I definitely want to know more about some of them. The author showed the steps to take when you have a serious stalker that seems to find you, no matter what. Some of the stalking and incidents could have been taken out of the headlines.

The relationship between Anna and Kyran is intense. Keep ice on hand for some of their sex scenes. I liked that the author showed how some problems could come up with a professional football team when they were on the road, and some behind-the-scenes when there is a mascot involved.

This is one book I will be reading again and can’t wait to read about some of the other characters in the future.

It begins with an attention grabbing remark that immediately pulled me into the story, showing the frustration and desperation Jonas is experiencing with Nicholas. Initially, it’s all directed at the witch…who I didn’t expect to see in the opening pages. It’s a nice twist and gives a good sense of what Jonas is up against. Ms. Evans takes the unease of Jonas and Nicholas and uses it to propel the plotline forward. It’s here you get a good feel for the personality of both men and she continues to build on that, adding new layers as their situations changes throughout the story.

The flow is smooth and the plotting is good; pulling in characters from other releases. I especially enjoyed seeing more of Torren who was first mentioned in Faith, Trust, and Stardust, and who I expect to see more of in the future. There’s lots going on in Forgotten Sins, and oftentimes, there are numerous characters present in one scene to keep track of, so be on your toes. With Nicholas unable to remember his bond to Jonas, I had trouble seeing them as a couple, and it wasn’t until his memory came back and missing tidbits of information got filled it that I finally got it. But things aren’t smooth sailing even then. They still have plenty of danger, betrayal and deceit to work through from an unexpected quarter and if it doesn’t work out, one of them could wind up dead. Enjoy. Watch for the next book, Back Roads, just released.

Vessel is the sequel to author Mickie B. Ashling’s Cutting Cords. Anyone who has read the first story knows just how angst ridden it was, and Vessel is no different. After reading the blurb for this new book, I knew that the men would not have an easy time of it, but I was shocked by what they ended up going through.

The author makes a statement on her website that this is a book that readers will either love or hate, and she is not joking. I loved the first book. Sloan and Cole, for all their flaws, made me root for them the whole time. I was thrilled when they finally worked everything out and came together as a couple. When I saw that a sequel was coming out, I could not wait to see what the two had been up to. As in Cutting Cords, Cole and Sloan pull you right back into their world and it’s not long before the reader discovers things have not been going well. The situation the men find themselves in will keep you reading until the last page, yet not everyone will be happy when they get there. By the last page of Vessel, I could not help but feel cheated, not only by the way the story ended, but also because it ultimately ruined the first story for me as well.

Loving Someone Extraordinary, the title says it all in this fantastic hang-on-to-your-seats action packed plot, blended with humorous interaction between the characters. Kevin has a genius IQ, very creative with weaponry, likes things neat and tidy. His every thought revolves around keeping Alex safe. Because of STF’s policy against teammates becoming romantically involved, Kevin hides the fact that he is gay from Alex.

Alex is somewhat of a loveable slob. He employs teasing as a defense mechanism to ward off the temptation Kevin unconsciously presents. The storyline exhibits the special bond between Kevin and Alex however; actual intimacy is not displayed until the latter part of the story.

K. M. Mahoney has created an exhilarating saga that I was sad to see end. I hope there will be more of these superb characters in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed Loving Someone Extraordinary.

Convincing Landon is the latest release in Serena Yates’ Men of Riverside series. Due to the close association of characters, I recommend they be read in order.

I liked Landon from the beginning. Ms. Yates gave him a personality that showed his concern and feeling of responsibility for his younger brother, putting his own desires on hold. He is a worthy type of guy, which explains the social worker he became later. Then she gives him a big twist when he dumped Kendall ruthlessly. It added unhappiness and angst to the story, but the cold manner in which it is done didn’t win him any points with me because sweet Kendall deserved better. There is a good show of Kendall’s anger, disappointment and frustration at being unceremoniously discarded. I am surprised at how easily, years later, Kendall forgives Landon. It seems unrealistic that they instantly resume a relationship. I would have liked to see Landon work for it a little more.

It is nice seeing many of the men from the previous releases. They add a good sense of continuity… of family and friendship that both Landon and Kendall need. These two men go through a lot of emotions…pain, anger, desire, passion and fear…before they reach the happiness they’ve been looking for. When they find it, I was left with a feeling of satisfaction. Watch for the next release Helping Harry, coming in January.

After being away for a year, Lorcan and Jess are heading back to Pegasus. When the news reaches Quinn, he’s not sure if he’s ready for the return of Lorcan, the one man he can never forget.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with Quinn’s Need, the second story in the A Whispering Pines Ranch series. The first story was so full of angst that I was unsure if I was ready to go there again. Yet I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The author was able to carry over the same intensity from the first story, while making the characters more likeable at the same time. This does not mean that Lorcan and Quinn no longer have their dark sides; in fact Lorcan seems to have mellowed while Quinn has become more intense.

Feeling as if part of his life was spiraling out of control, Quinn turns to the world of BDSM, where he is on the path of becoming the type of Dom that gives those in the BDSM world a bad name. The feelings Quinn went through after Lorcan left are understandable, yet his treatment of the subs he uses at The Push almost borders on abuse and, in the beginning, it was hard for me to like him. It is only after he meets Ty that Quinn begins to understand that being a Dom means more that dealing out pain.

For Lorcan, the time away has given him time to mature, and while his relationship with Jess is still going strong, Lorcan knows he will never love anyone other than Quinn. With the deep feelings Lorcan has for Quinn, I thought it was crazy for Lorcan and Jess to return to Pegasus. I could not help wondering how the author planned on moving the story along, especially as it seemed as if Quinn was starting to move forward by starting a relationship with Ty. I must say I was surprised by the steps that the author took but can’t wait to see what will now happen in future books.

I enjoyed Quinn’s Need and loved the way it moved the series along. Readers will need to read Lorcan’s Desire first, however, as this is one series that needs to be read in order.

I love Jack and Riley and getting to know more about their lives in Texas Winter is a treat, but make sure you read The Heart of Texas first or you’re going to be hopelessly lost.

Getting together wasn’t easy for these two and the next phase of their life isn’t much smoother. Ms. Scott’s thrown in twists and turns guaranteed to keep your attention and the pages turning as you read on to see if Jack and Riley have gone nuts or been driven apart. That means the emotional drama is through the roof as they deal with shady business dealing, the FBI, a new found daughter and returning family members. There are also plenty of secrets, conflicts and unrest mixed in with their love, passion and desire.

The information about Riley’s ex-girlfriend and why she didn’t tell him about Hayley is very well developed and realistic. The same goes for Hayley. She’s a little cutie and steals every scene she’s in. The story is sweet and entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint revolves around the FBI portion of the story and the swiftness that Riley’s problems with them are worked out. It seems a bit rushed to me…almost like an afterthought.

Love Me Twice is the third book in the Lothario series, and while it gives a little information about the boat, it is more about the relationship that Sean and Drew have with Celeste. The emotions that come out in this book are very intense. The author shows how jealousy and friendship can affect relationships among friends and partners. The author threw in a monkey wrench with Celeste’s partner, Bree.

One lesson the author brought out very well was that you really can’t run away from your problems, they tend to come back. Things had come to a head when the three had been captured and made a decision that backfired when they were rescued instead of dying. All the characters are very strong, and I hope we learn a lot about Bree in the future.

The plot that carries throughout the series has reared its ugly head in this one with a little surprise. This make you realize that there has to be much more going on and I am looking forward to its resolution in the future. I will be reading this series again.

Dakota Rebel has created an incredible happy ever after romance illustrating characters that are heartwarming, as well as superbly expressive lovers. I enjoyed Vamplet immensely.

Getting together with Priest seems like the perfect answer, until their steamy affair turns serious and they find themselves on the run. Being together means getting closer and when Priest blurts out a confession, it changes everything. Can Luke deal with the truth or will he run?

Confessions is release twenty-five in Carol Lynne’s popular Cattle Valley series and it would be best to read them in order, but at least read Shooting Star first. After meeting Priest in the previous book, I knew that learning more about him would lead to some interesting tidbits about his mysterious past and Ms. Lynne didn’t disappoint. This part of the story is pretty well developed but the personal side of Priest is still a little thin on details. There is a good feel for his job frustration/danger and how unsettled his feels with his new emotions attachment for Luke. And the same goes for Luke. He likes Priest. He wants Priest but doesn’t know it he can trust the man to stick around.

The beginning and middle of the story is pretty well plotted and it moves forward at a steady pace as the relationship between Luke and Priest builds. But…from here the action speeds up and the remaining story seems rushed. Yes, this section has danger, emotional pain and drama but there’s still a quick resolution, getting Luke and Priest to their happily-ever-after.

Four of Hearts is a story about friends slowly gravitating toward a polyamorous relationship. In the fourth installment of the Lothario series, the reader takes an interesting and intense journey as Fallon, Candace, Ryan and Richard learn to let go and explore their feelings for each other. The angst that the four go through as they struggle to finally define their relationship is so true. I loved the ceremony at the end of the book so much that I actually started to cry. The description by the author made you think you were actually there watching.

There is a subplot that is carried throughout each book, but still isn’t quite resolved by the end of this one. I’m hoping that the next book will be about Drew and Bree, as well as resolving the mystery of who is trying to ruin Ryan and Richard. We know who wants to buy the Lothario, but it is very unclear if he is actually behind everything, which keeps the reader on their toes. I still like the concept that the author created with the ship’s theme. This comes through very well in each story. Each book adds to your knowledge of what is on the ship that is available to passengers and crew alike.

I recommend that you read the entire series if you want to get the full effect of Ryan and Candace’s relationship as well as Richard and Fallon’s relationship.

Dennis is a coyote that has been beat down by life. Between betraying his friend Payce, losing his sister and being the natural enemy of Adrian, the lion pride’s Alpha mate, Dennis feels unworthy to live among the other shifters. Mating with KC now gives Dennis a positive outlook for the future.

Amber Kell has created an impressive, as well as, enjoyable saga. I especially like the image of KC in fox form.

Tank knows Zachary’s his mate but doesn’t understand why he won’t allow himself to be claimed. It’s a difficult situation and Tank’s trying to be patient but the pressure of waiting…the denial of their mating bond is getting increasingly hard to handle. With the Elite Force hot on their trail, the Lady Blue is thrust through a wormhole, crash landing on old Earth and suddenly, keeping Zachary safe is more important than claiming him. Things just keep getting worse. The ship needs repairs, danger surrounds them and Tank learns they have to get back to their own time period and perform a sacred ritual of Zachary’s people before they can be joined. What more can go wrong? Don’t ask.

Tank’s Tweak is release five in Lynn Hagen and Stormy Glenn’s series Lady Blue Crew and they should be read in order.

It’s another entertaining book to add to the series and having the Lady Blue fly through a wormhole and end up on Earth is a fun added bonus, giving the crew a new intensity of need to work through. It’s also a nice ploy for Tank and Zachary to worry about since their mating can never take place without the proper ceremony. Talk about an incentive to find a way home…as fast a possible. The authors outdid themselves in the frustration levels Tank and Zachary have to work through…such teases…to get the guys ready for their final mating. The build-up to the mating is intense and when it finally happens, it’s forceful and passionate.

As with the other books, there’s plenty of action. You didn’t think getting off old Earth would be easy, did you? Meaning all the crew gets to play important returning roles and during this portion of the story, we’re introduced to Monty, aka Mo, a computer analyst, who joins the crew, leaving his old life and time behind.

There are a few plot threads still dangling. I suppose those will be dealt with in the next or future releases. We certainly haven’t gotten a good handle on the Elite Force and how to stop them from hunting the Lady Blue, so I’m wondering how long the series in planned to continued and how many more crew members will be picked up along with way. Watch for the next book, Crank’s Craving, which is available now.

Simone Anderson’s Midsummer's Dreaming entices the readers to sit back and envision the happy feelings of first love, as well as the magic of warm summer moonlit nights. I thoroughly enjoyed this marvelous saga plus I hope to see more of these enchanting characters in the future.
