A runaway turned street hustler, Rio needs rent money so he accepts the guy’s offer. That guy turns out to be Kevin Sutter, a sadistic alpha werewolf. Rio is bitten and held captive by Sutter for weeks before he is rescued. The Committee for Supernatural Behavioral Enforcement had received reports of Sutter’s activities and sent enforcer and werewolf Mick Matranga to arrest Sutter. When Mick confronts Sutter, it ends with a fight to Sutter’s death. Mick then moves on to the other part of his mission of rescuing the used and abused Rio.

Altered Heart is an emotionally gripping well written plot with realistic circumstances that most people can relate to. Rio is a runaway who has suffered many abuses. Survival is his only motivation for being a hustler; there is no pleasure in the acts he must perform to live. He has lost his ability to trust strangers and separates his emotions from his body. Surviving all the abuse he has endured, Rio’s mental state is still capable of having reasonable judgment and the more time he spends with Mick, the more Rio realizes that Mick has no hidden agenda and is not the enemy; the desire to be with Mick begin to surface. Mick is an honorable and compassionate man who can be a bad ass when it comes to people breaking the law and abusing others. His wolf knows that Rio is his mate, but Mick denies his instincts rather than push Rio into something that he is not prepared to deal with. All of that changes when Rio is facing his first full moon change, Mick endeavors to ease the pain by giving Rio sexual pleasure, which also serves to bond the mates, making two wolves very happy at last. The extraordinary Kate Steele has the ability to engage your heart, mind and libido in this compelling story that exhibits the plight of runaways; some of the obstacles they face and the social awareness of a few caring individuals. The real life characters lured me into the saga and held me spellbound to the very end of this tantalizing, thought provoking and very sensual tale. Altered Heart is a keeper to be read more than once.

Dinun soon discovers he is not immune to Moon’s raw magnetism. The two men become companions and lovers while seeking those who have invaded their home world. They are working on borrowed time as they attempt to rescue kidnapped Angel children, prevent the threat from escalating, and maintain their budding relationship.

Dinun soon learns you don’t need wings to be a hero, just the heart of a warrior.

Dinun is a maverick if I’ve ever read about one. His choice to be openly gay has caused him to live without a lover in his community but he would have it no other way. Dinun is the product of two strong parents, and I doubt he could have ever denied his true desires. Moon is a respected member of his community and has had a life filled with love and support. Exposing Dinun to his people was a mixture of bitter and sweet. Dinun observes living freely without sexual hang-ups and longs to enjoy such a marvel, but he knows he will ultimately return to Getake. The setting is breathtaking, the characters perfectly detailed, and the story keeps you captivated until the end. The altered dialect of the Angels is just one more characteristic that allows you to visualize them more clearly. Ann Somerville has written a wonderful story about love, honor, commitment, and sacrifice in On Wings, Rising. Ms. Somerville has created a wonderful start to this series and I’m anxiously awaiting the next installment.

The problem is that Van and Roman have been keeping watch; they find her and the sexual appeal is so strong between the three that Sierra can not resist.

Kidnapped is an interesting vampire story with a modern twist. Sierra has a reasonable fear of vampires, but she found Van and Roman irresistible. Van and Roman love each other yet they both feel there is more needed to enhance their relationship and they both desire Sierra. Jade James has created a sensual and tantalizing story that I enjoyed.

Sylvus wants Gina to give their marriage a fair chance but knows she is reluctant to wed him. While he is capable of providing an alternative solution to alliance, he wants a future with Gina and refuses to let the opportunity pass through his fingers like running water. I enjoyed watching them interact. Their fervor and desire were undeniable and Sylvus recognized what lied underneath their lust. The love they wanted was within reach if only Gina would give their relationship a chance. Marie Treanor brings us action, romance, and a healthy dose of passion in Rogue Warriors 3: Queen.

I really enjoyed the story in this book. Another great twist on girl meets boy. The sex was classic and enjoyable. I have always enjoyed the paranormal twists on love stories and this is no exception. There were times throughout the book that I had to go back a re-read because I didn’t catch what had happened. Other times, things suddenly happened without explaining when or how they happened. Overall, not a bad book but with having to re-read paragraphs, took away from the story for me.

With appealing characters, a beautiful yet harsh setting, and easy flowing canter throughout the novel, Frozen in Time will captivate you, wreak havoc on your senses, and leave you wishing for more.

Burn Card is a tantalizing mystery of cops, murder and greed. Coty is smart and savvy, totally committed to his job and life with Gil. Gil is almost obsessed with protecting Coty, who comes first in Gil’s life. The incredible Laura Baumbach produced an excellent tale packed with intrigue, emotions and sensual characters in this well written plot that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Lynn Lorenz delivers a story about second chances at life and love in Second Moon. Sam put a great deal of faith in a man whose secrets ultimately hurt her deeply. While I understood her pain, sometimes you have to chalk relationship mishaps up and have faith that the next person won’t make the same mistakes. Duke was a good husband who missed his wife, but the big strapping man was not ready for the eternal rest he was facing. After watching him with family and neighbors, I knew he was loved and that it wasn’t time for him to die. Their attraction was instantaneous, and while Duke knew time was not on his side, I gained a great deal of respect for him when he didn’t pressure Sam to commit to a relationship. He recognized her for what she was, and had faith in her ability to come to terms with their relationship before he expired. I had hoped for a bit more interaction to compel Sam into taking on the commitment. And, while the story was enjoyable, the plot could have been a bit stronger. If you enjoy alpha wolves with a sweet side, witches, and outdoor fun under a full moon, then you will enjoy Second Moon.

Forced to leave her two remaining, wounded friends behind, Lauren takes Jackson on a wild race down a burning mountain to the police below, all the while being followed by one remaining killer who’s intent on retaking the wayward scientist captive. If they don’t get help, Emily will die for certain and millions of others could as well, if Jackson’s research falls into the wrong hands.

Under Fire is the first book by Ms. Cornelison that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and it won’t be my last. She’s skillfully constructed a fast-paced and intriguing romantic suspense that caught my attention on the first page and didn’t let up as I raced to the end. It’s filled with all the aspects that make for a great page turning story…danger, betrayal, revenge, pain, fear, hope, and a blistering hot desire between our hero and heroine, Jackson and Lauren. Under Fire is an emotionally charged read, only made more so every time one of the terrorists threaten young Emily. These scenes allow great insight into the interaction and feelings of the terrorists, especially Cara. The twists and turns just keep coming in this action packed story, often leaving me wondering what else could happen to Jackson and Lauren on their flight down the mountain, and the author never disappointed...not once!

Ms. Cornelison has done a wonderful job in expressing the stress between the players, whether between our ‘bad guys’, or Jackson and Lauren, allowing tension and unrest to almost seep from the pages. All the characters are well-written and believable and the plot revolving around nanotechnology highly plausible in today’s advanced world. It also gives pause for thought at what price we sometimes pay in the name of science. Will a discovery be used for good as it was intended, or warped and made reprehensible in the name of death and destruction? This portion of the story could have been ripped right off the page of any national newspaper, which is more than a little scary!

Events will lead the master to understand just how necessary Tam really is.

Thom Lane brings us fantasy, magic and new found love in Dark Heart. While Lucan has earned his reputation, he does have a softer side that briefly makes appearances. I believe discovering Tam’s lack of fear for his magical skill allowed him to find space in his life for the handsome slave. There are many who would have fled him and his touch, but Tam only wanted to embrace him that much more. Tam has years of training and knows how to act, work, and stay invisible until needed. He has a healthy amount of fear, but being in Lucan’s vicinity scrambled the poor lad’s brains at times. I will give him credit for his tenacity and quick mind. Lucan would have been a fool not to see the true value of Tam. While I felt Tam’s hurt and sadness over Lucan’s lack of aid at times, I could clearly see both sides of the coin and understood his reaction. If you enjoy a bit of adventure and erotic sex mixed with your magic, then you should enjoy Dark Heart.

This story was great! I have a few problems, when a word was missed in a sentence, but I barely noticed that. The book was capturing, keeping my attention through every page. The characters were perfect! I felt their emotions as if they were my own. Ms. MarQueen grabbed me and held me the entire time. Recommended read in this one.

Jade MarQueen wrote a good story. It was a little hard to follow, as I didn’t understand where certain elements of the story came from or even their importance to the plot. There were a few problems with the flow of the plot; however, it didn’t hinder the book too badly. I enjoyed this book, and would recommend it with caution.

And Luke suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after sixteen days of torture in Iraq. Luke believes he can no longer make love to a woman, although his feelings for his old sweetheart Melanie have always been strong.

Revenge is the motive for stalking Melanie. But the identity of the person responsible is carefully hidden until the end.

The mystery is satisfying, but some of the characters are puzzling. Does Tony’s family have mob connections? Or are they all just bullies? Does his icy mother really care? Who left the dead roses? What was so appealing about Tony to his mistress? Why did Melanie stay with Tony five years?

There’s a great intuitive German shepherd named Sarge and a stable of horses to tend for all you animal lovers out there. Author Gould provides some first-rate action scenes as well. Melanie’s growing strength is both welcome and believable, while Luke is definitely one of the more complex heroes I have met recently.

With just the three of them in the office, Chet, who is a Nil Raja prostitute, begs Dinesh, who is a Nil Raja warrior for his protection, and Dinesh gladly accepts.

Spaceport: Marked is a beautiful story of three men finding and loving each other. Ainsley is human and uses his position as Councilor to make life better for the inhabitants on spaceport. His focus has always been his work until Dinesh enters his life, now he can’t keep his mind on his job. Dinesh believes fate brought him together with the other two men, a strong capable warrior, he is perfectly happy to spend the rest of his life protecting and loving them. Chet is happiest when having sexual encounters with partners of his choosing. He felt an immediate bond with Ainsley and Dinesh, now his life has changed from prostitute to sensual lover. The three have joined into a committed relationship, loving and working together to improve the spaceport. The fabulous Jade Buchanan produced a fascinating and heartwarming plot with three sexy and very loveable men. The love scenes are intensely erotic. This is an outstanding story that I enjoyed immensely.

Logan Lambert runs the construction company that supervised the building destroyed by an earthquake. He swears his plan was up to code. Kayla judges him to be an honest man -- and an extremely attractive one.

The two team up to find who has betrayed Logan and the company. There are phony ledgers, red herrings, and an abundance of palpable dangers.

Author Quinn does an excellent job, pacing her clues and the development of the romance. Her main characters are liable and realistic. And the mystery itself is totally absorbing. While much of the story is presented through the mind of the culprit, we are kept in the dark as to his identity until the end.

Kayla learns to trust Logan, and he learns her very viable strengths in this absorbing novel. The author provides many interesting insights into the world of the blind. Author Quinn also demonstrates a well-grounded view into the construction industry.

I would have preferred a few more details about Kayla’s father and some of the other supporting characters, but all-in-all, this was a very enjoyable read.

Mr. Manly has once again created a story that pulls his readers into the tale at the beginning, throwing twists and turns to keep the pace of this story zipping along at a fast, well-plotted speed. Some readers don’t enjoy continuing tales of the same characters, but this reader doesn’t happen to one of them.

Watching these two lovers learn and grow from their mistakes was a heart-warming, and at times, painful experience. I was glad that this tale dealt more with Ryan, as it gave me a much firmer handle on who is was and what made him tick. What life experiences had molded him into the sexy, but sensitive man he’d become…a dedicated man who wanted to help others. He is a man who just wants someone to love and to be loved back, just as passionately. But it also made me more than a little sad for those individuals who don’t grow up in a loving, nurturing environment. It’s also an excellent example of why a couple needs to be honest and open with their significant other, who matter what their sex. Reading unspoken signals is a tricky business, and I don’t know about you, but I flunked mind reading 101, as I so often tell my dear husband.

I definitely had a better feel for Darcy’s character than I did with Ryan, which only made me wonder why he’d placed a personals ad in the first place. What had happened in his past that his counselor suggested such a step? Ryan seemed like a genuinely nice guy and I often wondered why he didn’t push Darcy a little further or harder as their relationship progressed. The flow of this well-written gay romance allows the reader to connect to Darcy’s feelings of love, pain, loss and fear on a personal level, leading the reader on an emotional roller-coaster of change and discovery. I look forward to the next installment of this delightful storyline.

This was a great read! The suspense was so great that I spent most of my time on edge trying to figure out the secrets. T. L. Gray has a great gift for keeping you on edge and wondering. Some of the questions I was asking myself were “What was Seth running from and why was he so desperate to get rid of Maria. What were the secrets of his men? Why was Maria so determined and so sure she could bring down the bad guy?” This was great. Even the romance that was building with Seth and Maria was a bit of a surprise. Wonderful!!!

McElfresh brings the subject of abuse to the forefront and shows us the courage Kevin exudes while reclaiming his life. His character is one you can’t help but to love. Kevin’s not in denial about who he is or what he wants but fear has him in an iron grip, and he is struggling to regain his normal carefree persona. Connor is a gem of a lover. Forget that the man is handsome and wealthy. Connor overlooks flaws to see the true beauty and essence hidden within. He has had his own painful time in life, but doesn’t run from love even when he knows it’s not a sweet and easy romance. Connor kept saying he wasn’t a patient man, and while I personally was ready to throw a shoe or two, he still held it together and handled whatever issues came his way. This is a wonderful story that I found myself drawn into it until the wee hours of the morning. Reclaiming Love is sure to leave the reader with a few valuable lessons about life and love.

I’ll give Daria credit, she tried to stay focused, but the war for domination was over before it began. Blindsided is a wonderful story that kept my attention from beginning to end. Fans and new comers alike will find this story interesting and entertaining.

Shannon Leigh has done a wonderful job of writing about werewolves. She has created so much love between her characters and their reasons for living.

These were bloodthirsty people who found a need to save their way of life and not be converted to Christianity. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the behavior of the men and women alike who continued to surprise me in each chapter. There was definitely a lot of hot sex going on between Grai` and Tapia, so much so that I am sure the whole castle heard them. Gabrina Garza has written a wonderful story that has the imagination working overtime with the characters, sword play and clothing that they were wearing.

Keeping a bull rider safe from an angry bull is a dangerous job, and Coke Pharris takes his job very seriously. He’s a dedicated and responsible kind of man, who is devastated when one of his favorite riders is horribly injured during a ride, which prompts him to help him ride again. It’s a big job, and they’re going to need help…and rodeo arena entertainer Dillon is just the man they need. Coke wants Dillon’s help, but he also wants Dillon. Aches and pains from his old injuries leave Coke feeling like he doesn’t have anything to offer Dillon. To make matters worse, some of the other younger men call him gramps just because he moves a little slow after so many back surgeries. What he doesn’t know is that good-looking Dillon doesn’t thinks he’s too old, scarred or beat up and wants more than just friendship; has wanted it for a long time. Can the relationship of these two independent men survive the dangers of their jobs, while trying to help their friend, or will a terrible misunderstanding keep them apart forever?

BA Tortuga has written another entertaining book centered on the world of professional bull riders, and the men who keep them safe with Roughstock: And a Smile. Considering how much I enjoy watching the PBR events on television, this new series has turned out to be a treasure. While I love seeing the actual riding, it was nice to see another side of the event, which Ms. Tortuga provided with her focus on the safety men and arena entertainers. Coke and Dillon are such likable guys that you can’t help but hope their relationship works out. And Coke…he’s a sweetheart who either doesn’t think he deserves a guy of his own, or that he can’t attract one because he’s so beat up from his own bull riding years, and the aches, pains and scars from past surgeries. This man makes your heart ache but Dillon is his breath of fresh air, and his hope for the future. It was fun watching these two dance around their mutual attraction, each afraid to ruin the friendship behind their desire. Once the truth was revealed though, these two open themselves to the possibilities of a future together. They just have to get around a little misunderstanding that could destroy their happiness first.

This reader is looking forward to the next release in this ongoing series. If you enjoy books with a western gay slant, take a chance on this one, you’ll like it.
