A Christmas in Paradise is the nineteenth book in the Paradise series.  This book is a little different from the previous ones, as there is not a shattering life event.  Instead this book is about three people reconnecting and figuring out what they really want and need.

Evie already knew about the two men being shifters and is hurt by the fact the two didn’t talk to her as she thought of them as her best friends.  Grant and Trey know she is their mate, but were afraid to share their secret in case of rejection and didn’t think she could handle a poly relationship.  It is easy to tell that they have chemistry.

A few characters from previous books make a very brief appearance. I was a little puzzled about how Evie became friends online with Gemma though. 

I hope there will be more in this series and that readers will learn more about the Rangers who became shifters and their future mates.

Uzuri fears big men, especially Doms.  Master Z has allowed her two years to get her act together at Shadowlands, but her time is now up.  Uzuri is looking for one short Master for herself, but she ends up with the Drago cousins who are not short, by any means.

Mischief & the Masters is the twelfth book of the Masters of the Shadowlands series and is one of the best in the series.  Those that have followed this series know that Uzuri is a prankster and pulls pranks on those Masters that she trusts, thus earning a nickname of Mischief.  She is also very soft hearted and will do anything she can for her friends, but she doesn’t open up to others or ask for help.

Alastair and Max are looking for someone, but aren’t sure they want to take on Uzuri’s problems.  They agree to help at Master Z’s request.  Uzuri ends up staying with them after almost getting run down.  The chemistry between the three is scorching hot, but to voice their feeling as their relationship progresses will depend on what happens after Uzuri’s problems take a deadly turn.

The usual care about communication and safe words are threaded throughout the book as both Alastair and Max are the type of Doms most of us would want to have.  They really look out for Uzuri, and even though they find some of her pranks funny, they don’t let her get away with disobedience.  One incident also has consequences for a couple of her friends, though one thing Uzuri learned comes in handy at the end of the book.

The Masters and Shadowkittens from previous books all show up to help when needed.  The way the author tends to weave the problems the main characters have, along with the solutions, kept me on the edge of my seat.  Because of Uzuri’s penchant for pranks, there are also some very lighthearted moments and, at times, I was laughing aloud.  This is also a book I could not stop reading once I started. 

I am looking forward to seeing what Ms. Sinclair has in store for Holt in the future.  Those that are fans will not be disappointed in this book at all.  The wait was well worth it.

Three best friends became lovers, but due to a misunderstanding on Everett’s part, the three went their separate ways.  Amanda thought she would be with Cooper and Everett together, but refuses to be with Cooper without Everett.

Cadence Falls is now a stand-alone story that used to be part of the Boots, Chaps and Cowboy Hats anthology. This is a fast paced story that brings Amanda, Cooper, and Everett back together when a dangerous felon escapes.  Everett is now a tracker with an elite government unit and is on loan to the U.S. Marshalls’ office. The chemistry between the three is good, though I was surprised at how quickly they picked up their relationship once they talked things out, and after Cooper decks Everett. 

This book gets real emotional as the three try to get answers from the others. Some of Cooper’s friends were a little harsh in their opinion of Amanda, but admitted they could accept her if it would make a difference in his attitude.  I had to laugh at the way Amanda finally admitted she loved the two men.  I will say I had chills while reading part of Cadence Falls as there were some familiar situations that brought back some headlines in the news recently.

Using the Castle Dolce Vita site, which is a BDSM club with some strict rules regarding membership, three of the friends meet their matches. Each book has some very intense scenes in them and the chemistry between all the couples and the ménage burn the pages.   

I loved reading these books, and liked how the author was careful to explain things and make sure safe words were created for the two stories that were BDSM-related.  The fact that Reed and Kole also watched out for Kyra when she had her turn was heartwarming. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and will be reading these stories again.

Julianne can’t believe she won the apprenticeship with Nicolai.  Her life has been so restricted by her father that she has a difficult time when she realizes that Nicolai could mean so much more to her than just being her teacher.  What happens when she realizes she can have everything she wants after Nicolai finally acknowledges he wants her as his is wondrous.

Masterpiece is the first book in the Masters of the Order series.  For readers that love a good BDSM story, this is one for the shelves.  It was wonderful to watch Julianne blossom as she discovered her own sexuality, as well as being what is known as a natural submissive.  Nicolai struggled to balance his own dark desires as he discovered what Julianne can handle. 

The Order is a group of men and women that are in the extreme upper echelon of society in France.  There is a code of honor that they follow including helping each other when one falls in love and finds ‘their one’.  Things are a little more complicated with Julianne since before she was born, her mother had been the love of the Order’s leader’s life.  As friends help Nicolai protect Julianne, Xavier is plotting.

This story has so many twists and turns that kept my interest.  I did not want to put this book down.  Readers should be aware that this book is intense.  The relationship that Nicolai and Julianne have is explosive especially when cousins, best friends and mentors sometimes are invited to participate.  I liked that this story stressed communication and expressing yourself when limits are reached.  Even though safe words were discussed, they weren’t used.  The story also stressed that the difference between abuse and consensual activities. 

Readers should be aware that this book was previously released by another publisher, but it has been revised and re-edited according to Loose Id. I have to say that after reading this book, that Jillian Verne has been added to my must read authors of BDSM based on this story.  I am looking forward to reading more in the Masters of the Order.  Masterpiece is a book that should be on every BDSM lover’s bookshelf.

ARC 1-19-2016

Nicole is getting ready to transfer to a new job, when she meets Joseph and James.  Her life is about to take a major turn when she enters into a relationship with both men.

Darker Cravings is the second book in the Mythical Knights series by Candice Gilmer.  The Templars continue to make an appearance, though this story is about a vampire triad.

James and Joseph have an interesting past which makes them very cautious when they think Nicole might be their third. Things come to a head after an accident when James, Joseph and Nicole are together one night that accelerates Nicole turning.  Because of this situation, the Templars get involved when Nicole requests a favor from one of the Knights.  Several characters from the previous book show up and the bad guy is finally named, though catching him is far from resolved.

James’ and Joseph’s past come back to haunt them and results in a cliffhanger that I hope is resolved in a future story. The relationship between James, Joseph and Nicole finally settles and the chemistry is hot between them.

I recommend readers read the series in order to get the most out of it, especially regarding the thread that continues in each book.  I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.  

Readers should be aware this book was originally released by Lyrical Press under the title A Darker Trinity.

Tales of Moonspell are previously published novellas about Moonspell and the lives of humans and paranormals within the town.  As each story unfolds, more is learned about the various factions in town.  I loved reading about the werewolves and their mates.

Serenity’s Wish and Their Sinful Seduction have some surprising twists toward the end of the stories that make the men evaluate their feelings toward their mates.  All the couples and ménages have some great chemistry and some very hot scenes.  I look forward to reading more about Moonspell in the future.

Kaiya becomes the Men of Hell’s accountant after her cousin makes a bargain with their grandfather.  What she doesn’t expect is to have a relationship like her cousin’s after meeting Gabby and Boone.

Madness Ends is the sequel to Mad Delights and is also tied to the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club series.  Madness Ends brings to a close some of the threads left hanging from the previous story.  Kaiya tries to find out what the previous accountant had done with the club’s money and ends up finding out a little more after she is accosted by him while she, Gabby, and Boone go on a trip for supplies.  It was interesting seeing Kaiya try to let the men know she was open for a relationship with both of them.  Of course there is lots of room for misunderstandings as Boone learns to sign and Gabby tries to hide his past.

The chemistry between the three is hot, but Kaiya has some very understandable feelings of being rejected by Gabby at times.  I liked that Kaiya stood up for herself as she tried to explain why she doesn’t like to be ordered around, as she was a virtual prisoner growing up and after she was rescued at her grandfather’s compound.  Eventually they realize they all have to talk about the past so they can forge a true lasting relationship.

Several twists involve another motorcycle club with ties to Vicious and the accountant shows up with a plan to retrieve the stolen money after aligning himself with Vicious.  The tension between all the various parties, once they arrive at the same place, are so true.  The author did a good job tying everything together at the end. 

Both of these books need to be read in order to understand what happens and why things happen in Madness Ends.  While readers don’t need to read the series these stories are linked to, it adds to the understanding of the first book.

Chloe is stalking Romeo, because he rescued her cousin and becomes obsessed with him.  She meets Dax when he confronts her about stalking Romeo.  Chloe finds she is attracted to both men, but what happens when she offers to help them in exchange for themselves?

Mad Delights, a spin-off of the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club, is aptly named as most of those around Chloe, including her family, thinks she has a screw loose.  Her actions would seem to bear that out.  I did have to laugh at some of her antics.  Chloe is an interesting character and the reasons why she behaves the way she does is explained in detail, along with her family ties.  I loved the way Chloe bargained with her grandfather. 

Romeo never thought he would end up in a ménage relationship, though his brother is in one, and decides he will call his brother for advice.  Dax figures it will happen since Chloe has made it clear she wants both men.  The chemistry between the three is hot.

The men end up under attack and several things happen that put all the men and their families in danger.  The club has lost several members and it is playing havoc with moral. There are some twists that cause a few tense moments with rivals. As the reason why becomes clear, things get resolved, except for one major thread which hopefully will get resolved in the next book. 

Reader Advisory:  There is a scene of dubious consent and some racist language.

Lily gets help, from another girl, escaping from the Master.  She is rescued in an alleyway by Branch and Charlie, who are searching for the leader of the trafficking organization they thought had been shut down.

Lily Roar is the fourth book in the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club and picks up the next part of the story about the trafficking organization in Wyoming.  Branch, the enforcer for the Red Wolves, and Charlie, a deputy in Destiny, team up to find the head of the organization.  Their journey takes them on a trip to Missouri where they help Lily, not realizing she is the key to identifying the man they are looking for.

I love Lily because she was a fighter and realized if she didn’t get out, she would die.  She wanted so much to help once she realized what Branch and Charlie wanted to do. Branch and Charlie were great about letting her know what happened wasn’t her fault and she was strong and a survivor.  Once Lily learns to trust the two men, she realizes she is attracted to them.  I had to laugh at the point where Charlie and Branch realized they were in a ménage relationship even though they were nowhere near Destiny.

A couple of new characters are added, along with another motorcycle club.  The way the story ends, I have to wonder if there will be more in this series or a spin-off with the other club.  The Men of Hell play an unwitting part in how Lily Roar ends, though the bad guy wasn’t quite the surprise it might have been.  Even though the author kept true to how some law enforcement agencies follow the law, I wasn’t too happy with the FBI and their actions. 

I hope there is more about the Red Wolves but if not, I’m looking forward to reading more of this author in the future.  I have really enjoyed this series, and readers do need to read this one in order.

When Dove Cries

Draven is forced to help the FBI find the trafficking organization in Destiny.  Cade knows Draven has a problem with him due to history with Draven’s family.  Both men join forces when they find Dove after she escaped her captivity and they realize she was one of the victims.

When Dove Cries is the third book in the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club series and picks up where True North ends.  Draven didn’t want to make a run to Las Vegas for a drug dealer, but knows the Red Wolves need the money for hospital bills.  Cade knows the club hasn’t been doing anything illegal for a while, but due to an ongoing investigation into the drug dealer, this is the perfect opportunity to go undercover using the Red Wolves.  Rescuing Dove works out great as far as Cade is concerned.

I liked the way the author didn’t sugar coat the relationship between Draven and Cade, even to the point the men were jealous of each other for a while.  Draven knows a ménage relationship can work as he has friends in them, but hates the idea because of who the other man is.  An incident with Draven’s brother and what happened while Draven was there is a major issue between the men.

I was a little surprised by part of the resolution of who the bad guy was and some of the other twists.  I had to laugh at North’s reaction when Cade admitted he was an FBI agent.

There is at least one more book in this series and I am wondering how it is going to connect with the overall theme of the series, other than the Red Wolves, since it seems like those loose ends have been resolved.  I am looking forward to finding out.

North and Givon are spending time fishing, when they hear a shot fired close by. As they race to the location, they see Allison lying on the ground bleeding.  As North tries to stop the bleeding, Givon, as sheriff, goes after the man.  Allison knows she is lucky to be alive.

The second book in the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club series, True North, has two lifelong friends facing a life-changing incident.  Givon is the sheriff in Destiny and North is the president of the Red Wolves.  Even though they took different paths, they still rely on each other to protect their backs. Readers learn a lot about both Givon and North, including how clubs are like families to members.

There were several surprises and two distinct threads revolving around Allison, one which dominated and put North and Gavon in danger.  Givon’s decision about North and Allison wasn’t too much of a surprise.  Both men were surprised that they didn’t feel jealous about sharing Allison but realized they had a resource to talk to with their friends, Braden, Leo and Merrie.

I loved the way Givon and North never let their lives ruin their friendship, though they were very careful to walk a thin line.  There are several clashes with lots of secondary characters and one decision that will be sure to haunt the Red Wolves in the future.  The author did a good job with the resolution of the major thread involving Allison, though I was surprised by who handled it at the end. 

The Red Wolves Motorcycle Club series is best read in order to get the full impact of the stories.  I am looking forward to the next story.

Along Came Merrie

Merrie is looking to change her life but ends up on the run after seeing something she shouldn’t after she stopped to use a pay phone.  After escaping, she ends up on a ranch where both Braden and Leo live.

Along Came Merrie is the first book in the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club and gives readers a glimpse into the world of outlaw motorcycle gangs.  While the Demon Devils’ are the group Merrie is running from, she meets the leader of the Red Wolves later in the story.  The author did a good job showing how one incident can color a person’s actions when something triggers memories later.

As Merrie heals, she tries to sort out her feelings, she is safe and grateful but is her attraction to Braden and Leo real or because they are her rescuers.  The conflict she has, along with realizing she could have a poly relationship, is very real.  In addition, Braden has some issues that have to be dealt with, especially as it causes a few issues between him and Merrie. An incident makes both men realize they can’t live without Merrie and want her to stay.  The three have some hot chemistry.

Several of the secondary characters are interesting, and there are several surprises. The leader of the Red Wolves and the sheriff turn out to be best friends, though they try to keep that fact hidden.  The suspense will grab you as it keeps building.  The author created an interesting solution to the entire problem. 

Along Came Merrie is the first book about outlaw motorcycle clubs that I have read and it did not disappoint me. In fact, I’m looking forward to reading more about this series as the author had an interesting epilogue to this story.

Isabelle grew up in Draconia after she and her mother fled their homeland.  After her mother’s death, she had been having a very hard time, until two Dragon Knights show up.  Robert and Bear hope she is their mate.

Hidden Dragons is the eighth book in the Dragon Knights series and brings some new elements in the ever-expanding universe of Draconia.  The author has created a beautiful world on the brink of a major war that can tear Draconia and their neighbors apart.  The lives of the knights, their mates and the dragons are so intertwined that they have become one family.

Each new character with a surprise background keeps adding to the richness of the stories.  Hidden Dragons is no exception.  While readers won’t find out exactly who Isabelle is until the end, her courage warmed my heart.  She is a little shy around the two men, though eventually she realizes they really want her for herself.  The chemistry between Robert, Bear and Isabelle is hot.  I had to laugh at some of the things that happened as they all got to know each other.

Lots of characters from previous books show up to help the trio, in the battle and helping Isabelle adjust to life in the Lair.  Of course, there is the bad guy that eventually falls. 

Readers need to read this series in order, as each book builds on the other as Draconia gets closer to the final battle.  I can’t wait for the next story of the Dragon Knights, as the ending of this one will keep you wanting to know more about who Isabelle really is and how she will have an impact on the future.  This series is one for the keeper shelf.

Lucia runs to Kaden to let him know his dragon, Reynor, is not healing and along the way runs into Marcus and his dragon as well.  Both men are attracted to her and try to convince Lucia that it is the way of the Dragon Knights to share a wife.

Wings of Change is a novella of the Dragon Knights series that needs to be read between Prince of Spies and FireDrake (book 4 and 5 in series).  Wings of Change was released by itself after being published in the I Dream of Dragons Volume 1 Anthology.  The novella is also published by a new publisher to be purchased at either Amazon, Smashwords or Barnes & Noble.

The book introduces the Gryphons to Draconia and the readers of this series. Lucia is a priestess in her country. Running for her life, she ends up in Draconia.  She won’t stand by while Reynor is hurting and in need of healing.  Lucia ends healing Reynor after she realizes that nothing else is working, which causes an interesting scene involving a Gryphon feather.

Lucia is attracted to both Marcus and Kaden, but isn’t sure how things would work as she always thought she would only have one husband.  I enjoyed the way the knights, involving several of their friends, introduced Lucia to the idea of a relationship with them. The chemistry between them is hot.

After the Gryphon that Lucia was raised with shows up in Draconia, everyone learns the history behind the Gryphons and Dragons, as well as their common enemy.  Along with the Gryphons, several members of the royal family help the story along.  Even though there is a crisis going on in the royal family, all agree that Lucia’s, Marcus’ and Kaden’s wedding should go forward.  

I really enjoyed Wings of Change as it brings characters from various backgrounds to Draconia.  There are several threads that will be showing up in the future. This series needs to be read in order to get the most out of it.

I’m a fan of plots that feature dragons, but pairing one with a demon isn’t something I think I’ve come across before. It’s unusual but then Eve isn’t a normal type of demon either. She’s much more like her human mother than her demon father.  I guess that’s why I like her. She didn’t think or act like a demon. As you can guess from what I’ve written, the author did a good job developing her personality and making her likable, despite her situation. Then there’s Ranton. His position as dragon commander shows his power and position and his physical description is also vivid. We’re told some of his past but I don’t really have a feel for him aside from being bossy and arrogant.

The pace of this story is fast. I mean everything from the beginning to the end seems to happen quickly and there isn’t time for any kind of relationship development between the characters. It’s all heat and chemistry.  The sex scenes are well written but for a novella of this length… there are too many, overbalancing the rest of the plot. I did enjoy the secondary characters, whether dragon, demon or angel and it should be interesting to see what happens to this diverse group in the next book. It’s also an interesting twist to add Ranton’s newly hatched brother to the mix…spoiler alert. His character bears watching in the other books, as I don’t have a clue where it’s going even with the hints.

Lorelei is rescued by Adam and Lucian after an attempt on her life that leaves her with memory loss about the incident. 

The first book of the Men of Sanctuary series, A Strength of Arms, introduces Sanctuary to readers where military and law enforcement personnel can go for peace, as well as training.  Adam and Lucian are retired Marines that have created their own peace by creating Sanctuary, as both are combat veterans.  While Lorelei is there, the two men realize what they had been missing, but have to come to terms with the fact they both want her and will do everything in their power to protect her.  I loved that Lorelei was such a strong woman and did not sit back and let Adam and Lucian run over her.

Lorelei eventually accepts that she is attracted to both men. The chemistry is intense between the three.  Their relationship has a lot of ups and downs as they learn about each other and what they need.  The men finally accept that Lorelei is just as much a warrior as they are.

The secondary characters are interesting and I loved the way the author had Lorelei use her talents to trap the villain.  Sheriff McBride is an interesting man and has a big part in this story. This book also showcases some of the issues that arise in classified jobs and result in a lot of mistrust that show through in some of the situations that come about in this story. 

Readers should be aware that this story was previously published with a different publisher, and it has been revised a little bit.  I am looking forward to the next story in The Men of Sanctuary series, as there were a few threads unresolved.

Nadya is one of three friends wanting to leave the carnival she works in.  She is very surprised that Luc and Gabe are attracted to her as she is over 40 and not what you would exactly call skinny. 

The latest story in the Paradise series, Promise of Paradise, picks up where the last story ends as Nadya wants to make a life of her own.  Nadya is having a hard time accepting that two men are so attracted to her, despite what her friends tell her.

Nadya is surprised how much she wants Luc and Gabe to be truly hers.  It takes a while for Luc and Gabe to convince her, but once they do, things definitely look up.  Unfortunately, she doesn’t realize how much danger she is in.  

I loved the solution the author came up with to end Perry’s reign of terror.  I had to laugh when I realized what was done.  The author has a knack for devising suspenseful situations for the men to rescue their lady.  I also love the fact that the heroines are not always the typical women found in romances.  I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Mike and Cody end up hiring Shana after she shows up for an interview with their entire lives in a file, including some very private information, that she used her hacking skills to get.  Her goal is to work with their pro-bono cases as well as exacting justice for her past.

Intimate Details had a lot of details about some of the hacking that can be done by a good hacker.  The only thing I was a little worried about is just how much can actually be hidden by a hacker without leaving some kind of trace.  As the story progresses, readers will learn a lot about Shana and the reasons she started hacking.  I was glad the author had the men convince Shana that there were ways to go about things legally instead of risking jail time.

Mike and Cody are best friends and are instantly attracted to Shana.  Eventually the three act on their attraction, though Shana resists letting them know about her past.  The scenes are hot, and eventually Shana lets them know more about her, which makes the men do their best to help and protect her. 

I was a little disappointed with the ending, as I felt the author jumped to the epilogue a little too soon.  I would have liked to know more about how they arrived at the solutions they did.  All in all, this was a good story that kept my interest.

I really enjoyed the Naughty Nights (Box Set) by Kate Hill.  Ms. Hill happens to be one of my must read authors, though this is the first time I have read these particular stories.  She has created an interesting world on Shandra with ideas and customs regarding women that will drive independent women crazy.  Because of the lack of women on Shandra, one woman marries two men.  Some of these male couples could also be lovers, or in the case of Passion, she marries two brothers.

The contrast between the three stories regarding the circumstances of the marriages is interesting. One common theme is that all the men think Earth women are wild.  The women end up making some strides within the sectors, regarding the rights of women. 

Each story has a conflict that must be overcome, which allows all to give voice to their feelings.  The chemistry between each triad is intense.  Each of these stories were previously published as separate novellas.
