A Very Marius Christmas

Author: Joyee Flynn
Publisher: Siren Bookstrand
ISBN/BIN: 9781622422593
Genre: {M/M}, Paranormal, Seasonal, Series
Rating: 4.5 Nymphs
Literary Nymph Reviewer: Critter Nymph

The Christmas holiday is fast approaching and what should be a wonderful time for the Marius family is anything but.   With all the attacks the warriors have had to fight lately, their families are starting to feel the pinch and the various couples are wondering if they should even stay together.

A Very Marius Christmas is the sixth story in the Marius Brothers series.  This story is different from other holiday stories, but will still keep the reader’s attention.  From the time the book starts, the reader is able to tell that they’re in for a change.  When each couple’s original story ended, you found yourself believing that their story would always be a happy one, yet the various conflicts each couple is facing makes you wonder just what the author has planned.

Since the whole Marius family is present, and the book is written in the first person, the author titles each section keeping the reader from getting confused.  I was unsure if I would like this alternating first person format, especially with all the characters involved, yet soon found myself enjoying hearing from each of the men, as well as their parents.  Wait until you get to the scene where Desmond and his sons go shopping; the way he gives advice will leave you laughing.

One of the things I enjoyed about this story was that the author made each of the couple’s issues seems believable, therefore making the story more real.  She also does not whitewash their issues; instead most of them end up seeing their version of a marriage counselor, Ayden.  When the couples find themselves at peace, be prepared for the pages to heat up.

Even though he has yet to find his mate, Virgil also shows up throughout the book.  Be prepared for a little shocker at the end of the story.

Fans of this series are sure to love A Very Marius Christmas.  If you love this genre, or are reading this series, don’t miss this story.

A Changeling For All Seasons

Title: A Changeling For All Seasons

A Christmas Pageant by Sahara Kelly - 4 Nymphs
A music teacher, moonlighting as a cocktail waitress in a strip club, and a Drill Sergeant get snowed in and have the night of their lives. While I enjoyed this story, it seemed a little out of place in this anthology as I could not find the “changeling”.

Jingle Balls by Judy Mays - 5 Nymphs
In this fun story, Santa and his wife set up a friend’s son with Ms. Claus’ sister. Kudos to the author for the way she went about getting the two together. The chemistry between Richard and Jessica was hot.

Changeling by Shelby Morgen - 4.5 Nymphs
Arien decides she has to mate with a human, but she can only have a relationship with him on St. Patrick’s Day, unless he guesses her real name. But he has to kiss her first. The way Ms. Morgen wove her story together was interesting, especially with the size difference between Arien and Mich.

Elven Enchantment by Willa Okati - 5 Nymphs
This was an interesting male/male and ménage story between two elves trying to find their third. Ciara, Ardal, and Seanan meet in a bar on St. Patrick’s Day. Be aware the chemistry between these three is so hot, you will need ice cubes on hand.

For the most part, these ten stories were fun to read. The authors did wonderful things with some of the imagery in their stories. There were a few that I wish had continued, as I would have liked to find out more about their relationships and more about some resolutions at the end of them. From horses turning to elves, trolls, and fairies, A Changeling For All Seasons has something for everyone. Some of the situations were so true to life that you jumped right into the story. I could not stop laughing when I read the last story.

Christmas Goes Camo

Title: Christmas Goes Camo
Author: Desiree Holt, Allie Standifer, Brenna Zinn
Publisher: Total-e-Bound
Publisher URL: http://www.total-e-bound.com/
ISBN: 978-0-85715-366-1
Genre: {M/F}, Fantasy, Seasonal-Christmas
Rating: 4.5 Nymphs

Trapped by Ice by Allie Standifer - 4.5 Nymphs

After being parachuted off course, Teague doesn’t think that the new experimental drug the military is testing is worth the side effect of a constant hard on. Kendil is resentful that she has to be at the South Pole scouting out a new location for a toy factory and having to watch out for humans. This was a fun story to read and I could feel the ice melt when Teague and Kendil got together. Kendil’s reaction to Cupid’s arrows was priceless, as we all sometimes wonder if we are being loved for ourselves and not some artificial reason.

Tempered by Ice by Brenna Zinn – 4.5 Nymphs

Six months ago, Tasha found Axel almost frozen as he was testing the new drug he had been working on. Axel thought he had been hallucinating and after he got back to base, he tried to improve Thermavan. While testing the drug at the South Pole, he runs into Tasha again and realizes he can’t live without her. This story was a little different even though there was a common theme. I was disappointed by that, as I was waiting to see Axel’s reaction to one of Cupid’s arrows. Axel and Tasha definitely had the chemistry going between them.
Melting the Ice by Desiree Holt – 4.5 Nymphs

Sonia is the elf in charge of the mission to find a new location for the new toy factory. She ends up getting trapped in her tent by Cupid’s Vinions. Jaguar Martin ends up in her tent attempting to get shelter from the storm and hating the side effects of the drug he is testing. This story did not include a reaction about getting hit by Cupid’s arrows, either. The chemistry between these two will melt ice, but their relationship was peppered with constant interruptions from the assault by the Vinions and suspicions each have.

Christmas Goes Camo was a very fun read. I have to give kudos to all three authors for the imaginative use of the elf names and the whole concept surrounding the war between Santa and Cupid. I do wish the last two stories stayed with the concept of getting hit by Cupid’s arrows though.

The fact about military drug testing was realistic and I appreciated the fact that all three men knew they were testing this drug; while in real life, this is not always the case. I was laughing about the reactions the elves had to the men and the men’s reaction to the whole concept of battle elves. I will be reading this one again, and may make this an annual holiday read.

Waiting In Vain

Mick has been attracted to Nancy for three years. The problem? Her smartness makes him insecure.

Nancy thinks Mick is gorgeous and has drooled over him at every family Christmas gathering. The problem? He’s way too good looking for a Plain Jane like her.

Waiting In Vain is full of surprises, humor and hot sex. I found myself extremely amused at the action and wittiness that is packed into this short novella. I laughed out loud on more than one occasion over the awkward moments Mick intentionally caused for Nancy, and fanning myself a little over some of Nancy’s unexpected reactions.

Waiting In Vain is a sweet but spicy story that has no problem holding your interest to the very end. My advice is to not pick this one up until you have time to read it all, because you won’t want to put it down.

It was not unusual for Arabel Marx to wake up in a strange place. Working for the clan, performing blessings through dance, kept her constantly on the go. However, this was the first time Arabel had woken up on the lap of a dark and wild stranger.

After five minutes, Zenner knew that he wanted Arabel as his woman. She was doing a horrible job of taking care of herself, and the dragon in him wanted to protect her forever. Would he be able to convince Arable to leave her clan before her job killed her?

Arabel devotes all her time to working for the clan. She isn’t even allowed to date. And the magic that she releases at each blessing is slowly sucking the life from her. When Zenner gives her the chance for a simple family life, Arabel is happy but hesitant. She knows her family is not going to let her go without a fight and Arabel doesn’t want harm to come to Zenner. There are scenes where Zenner is so tender and loving with Arabel that I sighed out loud. This dragon really knows how to pamper his woman. Readers will enjoy Yule Be Mine as much as I did.
