Jordan is working on her Doctorate and is looking at BDSM and comparing the consensual nature with an abusive relationship since she works at a women’s shelter for abused women.  Noah is one of the owners of Hilltops and is helping her understand some of the appeal of the lifestyle.

Destiny is the first book in the Hilltops series.  Hilltops is a high end BDSM private club with some very strict guidelines.  Three brothers own it, but as it is now successful, at least one of the owners wants to stay in the office instead of participating as a profession Dom.

There is a twist at the end that shows Noah exactly what his feelings are towards Jordan but until that happens, Noah isn’t sure what he wants beyond having Jordan.  Jordan is attracted to Noah, but is insecure about their relationship. The chemistry between them is explosive and it is noticed by Noah’s family.

I had to laugh at Noah’s family because of the way they reacted to Jordan.  Noah is very surprised by his uncle’s assessment as his uncle transitions to retirement.  The relationship Jordan has with her best friend’s father is complicated.  He is her advisor, but their relationship becomes contentious especially after Casey ends up in the hospital.

The author kept my interest and I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.  Though it started slow, the story itself is very compelling.  The author did a good job showing both points of view in the way she changed the voice.  I will be reading this one again.

Shana has dreams and fantasies about being dominated, especially since she owns her own business and is always in charge.  After a friend runs across a website for an adventure, she signs up.  What she doesn’t know is that the Dom she is paired with also has one of the same fantasies.

Taking Her Down is the third book in the Carnal Secrets series.  Ms. Harper keeps the intensity of the previous books in this one.  Readers should be aware that there are also a few triggers as well.  The author also does a play on the acronym BDSM in the name of the business in the story.

Jim is an attorney who used to go to the island as the Dom paired with a client in order to satisfy his need to dominate.  He sometimes thinks he is living his fantasy and takes Shana with him.  As far as he is concerned, this is not a game and he thinks Shana is a natural submissive that he is going to keep. The two have chemistry, and Jim has a knack of keeping Shana on edge without thinking of using her safe word.

The two secondary characters make their appearance in the first part of the book, but the rest is everything that Jim does to make Shana’s experience what he thinks she needs.

This story has been revised for being released by Totally Bound as it has been previously published.  I thought Taking Her Down was the best of the three stories in this series.

Kaci is trying to survive and rebuild her life with jobs she chooses. Reno sees her and ends up kidnapping her.

Her Submission is the second book in the Carnal Secrets series.  Be aware there will be triggers in this book for some readers.  Reno was injured and is not currently a trainer for Carnal.  He also hasn’t decided if he is going to keep Kaci for himself even though he takes her to his home, not the Carnal training facility.

Kaci has fantasies of being forced to submit, but she doesn’t trust easily as she grew up hard.  After being betrayed by her then boyfriend and spending two years in juvie, she is trying to rebuild her life, when Reno enters it.

Both Kaci and Reno end up facing some hard facts as Reno trains her.  Several times he deviates from the normal training program he used at Carnal.  As they both learn more about each other, they discover feelings for each other.

Reno does talk to a friend that is a former trainer as well.  He is confused because Kaci doesn’t react like the ‘normal’ captive he is used to dealing with. Reno must make some decisions as he starts getting feelings for Kaci about what is he going to do with her. Will he also decide to go back to Carnal or join his friend’s business?

The books in Carnal Secrets are very intense and will invoke strong emotions.  I am intrigued enough to want to know what the next story will be.  Readers should be aware that this book has been previously published by a different publisher and been revised for release by Totally Bound.

Lindsey and her parents went into hiding once her sister became the Kalquorian Empress. They are barely surviving after the nuclear holocaust when Bacoj, Japohn and Vax crash on the planet.

Alien Salvation is the fourth book in the Clans of Kalquor series and picks up several months after the leaders on Earth decided to explode nuclear bombs as Earth was invaded.  The survivors are barely hanging on.  The author is very descriptive about what is going on as people try to survive.

Lindsey approaches the Kalquorians to make a trade for food because she and her parents are barely surviving.  After a deal is struck, Lindsey gets to know them and the four decide to become a clan.  Because of who Lindsey is, the men make a decision that could have some extreme consequences.

The author did a good job showing the emotional impact that decision had on the whole family.  I had to laugh about Empress Jessica’s reactions when she found out about it, as it seems she has quite a temper.  While there were some secondary characters, the story revolved around Lindsey, Bacoj, Japohn and Vax, as well as Lindsey’s parents.  I loved the mother’s reactions about the deference she was given as Jessica’s mother.

I really enjoy reading this series and will be reading it again, as well as the next book.  This book has been revised and re-released after being published before by a different publisher.  The purchase link is for Amazon as the book is not available through the publisher in the United States, but is available through them outside.

Marina is a jockey but has gotten on a couple of the owner’s bad side because they don’t think a woman should be one.  They decide to remove her from the equation by hiring a group called Carnal to kidnap her.

Naked Nights is the first book in the Carnal Secrets series by Vonna Harper. This book has been revised from a previous release and publisher. Readers should be aware that this book is full of triggers and may also make some angry as well.  The basic premise is that Carnal kidnaps women, making them into sex slaves, which they sell.  It is also definitely outside the normal BDSM safeguards usually associated with the lifestyle.

Trey is a former professional football player who was injured and got involved with Carnal as an investor, but decides to become a trainer.  Marina is his first captive trainee.  Trey starts questioning himself as things progress, especially as he starts to know Marina.  The authorities aren’t too happy and are constantly questioning him about his methods, even sending another trainer to demonstrate some techniques, which doesn’t go over well.

Marina also questions herself, as she starts this journey she is forced on.  Several scenes are very intense and some can even be called torture.  Conversations confuse her feelings and the night before her auction, where the other women are as well, is bad.  The day of the auction is a surprise for Marina.

This book kept me guessing right up until the end.  Of course, there is a happy ending for Trey and Marina, but to get there is very intense.  There were times I had to put it down, just to keep perspective that this was just a story and not ripped out of headlines.  I don’t doubt the rest of this series will be as intense.

Jessie wins a raffle that entitles her to one free month at the Vivant Club.  Along with the membership, she gets to have a night with two of the Doms in the club.  What she gets is Mark and Greg.

The Prize is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I really enjoyed her knowledge of the subject matter.  This is a fast-paced intense story about the first night Jessie claims her prize. The Vivant Club is an exclusive BDSM club that caters to some very wealthy people and has some very stringent requirements. I loved the butler and Jessie’s reaction to him.

Jessie is very surprised when she first arrives at the club.  Once she finishes the paperwork, she meets Greg and Mark. The scenes and chemistry between the three are very intense.  Both Doms are very knowledgeable and no-nonsense about what they want from Jessie.

In the future, I would like to know more about the Vivant Club and possibly what happens to Jessie, Greg, and Mark after this first night.  I will be reading The Prize again in the future.

Readers should be aware that this book was part the His Domain anthology by Totally Bound.

Amelia has stayed away from home after humiliating herself at a party with her brother’s best friend, Nick.  Because of his loyalty to her brother, Nick has always regretted not telling Amelia how he felt.  Things will change this year at Christmas.

My Mistletoe Master is the first book in the Unexpected Changes series by Cameron Allie.  I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as this is the first book by this author I have read and not all authors can write about BDSM well.  I was pleasantly surprised, especially as Nick wasn’t an established Dom and the story indicated that he was doing research so he could meet Amelia’s expectations.

I had to laugh at both Amelia’s and Nick’s reactions when she thought she was alone and started watching a kinky video and Nick caught her.  That was the catalyst for the rest of the story.  I found it interesting that Amelia is the one that didn’t want people to know they were together after that.  There were also some very funny moments when her brother was trying to figure out what was going on as well as almost catching them.

Several of Amelia’s relatives are funny and I had to laugh at Amelia’s grandmother.  With trying to conceal their relationship, Amelia’s ex showing up at a party, and other friends trying to make a play for Nick, there were plenty of times that would make you cry, laugh, or want to slap someone in this book.

The author did a good job of showing how both people try to find their way when both were inexperienced, but one party already knew about their submissive side.  I’m glad the author made sure to mention safe words and that Nick made sure Amelia used them.

I want to see where the author takes this series. I sort of want to see what happens with Amelia’s brother.

Cassidy has been in a convent on Europa for three years.  As her grandfather comes to get her to go back to Earth, the convent is taken captive by the Kalquorians.  Cassidy becomes the chosen one for Captain Tranis and his clan.

Alien Conquest is the third book in the Clans of Kalquor series.  This book goes into more detail about how the Kalquorians try to re-educate the women, although the medic in the clan determines that it is the wrong approach to take.  I will warn readers that there is more sex in this book compared to the others I read previously, and there are some things that could cause some triggers.

One of the reasons the Captain was following Cassidy’s grandfather was because of his position in the military on Earth, as the Kalquorians want to end the war by an invasion. There is a major surprise for everyone in the Galaxy that I did not see coming.  This will affect all the rest of the stories in the series for sure.

I really liked Cassidy.  She was extremely smart and wanted to learn as much as she wanted, but her education had been cut short.  As Tranis, Lidon and Degorsk were trying to break her repressive training regarding pleasure, they discovered this fact and offered to provide tutors so she could study anything she wanted once they returned to Kalquor.  It was clear the chemistry between the four was hot, but Cassidy kept going back and forth about enjoying it, or thinking she was terrible for enjoying herself.  Things do work out in the end.

I have enjoyed reading this series so far and am looking forward to reading more. As with previous books in this series, Alien Conquest is available through this publisher if you reside outside the U.S., otherwise the book can be purchased at Amazon (hyperlink for title), which is where the author’s website sends readers in the U.S.  Readers also need to be aware that this series was published previously and has been revised for Totally Bound.

Ella doesn’t want to fall in love with someone that won’t be there for her.  When she ends up flirting with a man that has some issues with the word no, her best friend’s brother rescues her.  What she doesn’t count on is falling in love with him as she thinks he is so wrong for her since he is a military man.

Enticement is the second book in the Master Class series by Sierra Cartwright.  Those familiar with Ms. Cartwright’s work know she writes mostly within the BDSM genre.  I did have one issue with this book, and that was the choice of the safeword that Ella has.  It was discussed within the story as to why she had that particular word, but those familiar with the lifestyle will probably still have an issue with it as I do.  Other safety issues were addressed appropriately.

Ella is curious though she has dabbled in the past in BDSM.  Until Pierce comes along, she really hasn’t experienced the way an experienced Dom can make a sub feel.  Sometimes I did think Ella was trying too much to please Pierce, but soon realized she was into what she and Pierce were doing.  The two have some great chemistry, but the biggest problem is Ella’s mindset.

Pierce has his own issues that involve his family.  As the story progresses, friends step in to try to help and other issues come up.  I loved the way the story did end and enjoyed the way that Ella and Pierce reconciled.  There were a couple of surprises.

Though this stories has been previously published with another publisher, this series can be read as standalone stories so far.  I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Uzuri fears big men, especially Doms.  Master Z has allowed her two years to get her act together at Shadowlands, but her time is now up.  Uzuri is looking for one short Master for herself, but she ends up with the Drago cousins who are not short, by any means.

Mischief & the Masters is the twelfth book of the Masters of the Shadowlands series and is one of the best in the series.  Those that have followed this series know that Uzuri is a prankster and pulls pranks on those Masters that she trusts, thus earning a nickname of Mischief.  She is also very soft hearted and will do anything she can for her friends, but she doesn’t open up to others or ask for help.

Alastair and Max are looking for someone, but aren’t sure they want to take on Uzuri’s problems.  They agree to help at Master Z’s request.  Uzuri ends up staying with them after almost getting run down.  The chemistry between the three is scorching hot, but to voice their feeling as their relationship progresses will depend on what happens after Uzuri’s problems take a deadly turn.

The usual care about communication and safe words are threaded throughout the book as both Alastair and Max are the type of Doms most of us would want to have.  They really look out for Uzuri, and even though they find some of her pranks funny, they don’t let her get away with disobedience.  One incident also has consequences for a couple of her friends, though one thing Uzuri learned comes in handy at the end of the book.

The Masters and Shadowkittens from previous books all show up to help when needed.  The way the author tends to weave the problems the main characters have, along with the solutions, kept me on the edge of my seat.  Because of Uzuri’s penchant for pranks, there are also some very lighthearted moments and, at times, I was laughing aloud.  This is also a book I could not stop reading once I started.

I am looking forward to seeing what Ms. Sinclair has in store for Holt in the future.  Those that are fans will not be disappointed in this book at all.  The wait was well worth it.

Tasha is kidnapped along with her niece, Princess Noelle of Kalquor, to be used as a pawn in a civil war between the factions that want only purebloods on Kalquor.  Tasha is one of the Earth women that is supposed to mate with one of the clans to help with the repopulation of Kalquor.  Unexpected help comes from Clan Falinset.

Alien Hostage is the tenth book in the Clans of Kalquor series.  Kalquor has basically split into two factions, the purebloods that don’t mind being extinct within 300 years and those that want their people to survive by clanning with women from Earth.  I love the world the author has created as it is interesting, especially the reason for having clans.  Each clan consists of a Dramok or leader, the Imdiko or caretaker, and the Nobek or protector.

The Basma, leader of the pureblood group, has resorted to kidnapping and blackmail to get his way. Clan Falinset, whose Dramok is actually the biological son of the Basma, does everything he can to keep his father out of his life.  Unfortunately, it is difficult as the other two members, Nur and Wekniz, have been recipients of the Basma’s shenanigans.  Clan Falinset hides Tasha and the Noelle once they escape the camp they had been taken to.

As the four adults learn more about each other and start learning to trust each other, they wonder if Tasha will be able to clan with the men since Falinset, Nur and Wekniz will come under suspicion, once their family ties are revealed.  That doesn’t stop them from having some very intense sex scenes during their time together.

Several characters from the previous books show up as secondary characters, including Norpak. Norpak is fascinating, especially with the act she does, and ends up being a big part of getting Noelle back home.  The resolution of the civil war was still up in the air by the end of the story and I am looking forward to reading the next story in the Clans of Kalquor book.

As with Alien Embrace, Alien Hostage is available through this publisher if you reside outside the U.S., otherwise the book can be purchased at Amazon (hyperlink for title), which is where the author’s website sends readers in the U.S.  Readers also need to be aware that this series was published previously and has been revised for Totally Bound.

Earth is now run by a fanatical religious government that will do anything to keep its citizens “pure”.  Amelia is an invited resident artist on Plasius but comes to the attention of the Kalquorians. What happens when cultures collide?

Alien Embrace is the first book in the Clans of Kalquor.  This is the first book by author Tracy St. John I have read and really enjoyed this book.  A couple of things need to be said about purchasing this book though.  The book is available through this publisher if you reside outside the U.S., otherwise the book can be purchased at Smashwords*, which is where the author’s website sends readers in the U.S.  Readers also need to be aware that this series was published previously and has been revised for Totally Bound. I also caution readers that the abduction scenario can cause some triggers as there are some scenes that may be construed as dubious consent.  That being said, I really enjoyed reading this book as the author created an interesting world.

Because of the problems regarding the population of the Kalquor, they have come up with an interesting social structure of three men creating a clan or family unit, which needs to find their Matara.  Amelia’s clan consists of a Council member, a medical officer and a soldier.  The Kalquor have some unique physical characteristics that make for some very intense sex scenes.

Amelia has to overcome some major hang ups due to her upbringing on earth.  Most of her resistance to becoming the beloved of the clan is mental.  Even though Plasius’s people are very open about sex, even in public, Amelia has learned to ignore it as much as possible, even though her friends among them can’t quite understand.

Cultures clash when Amelia becomes pregnant and marries into the clan.  Despite the bad guys and the way Amelia is taken from her clan, things work out.  The author has a way of describing things that will take you right into the story and got my blood pressure up with some of the intensity of the story.  I had to laugh at the way the Plasius leader took charge in one scene toward the end of the book.

I am looking forward to reading more stories in this series.

Jennifer is interested in BDSM, but is very unsure about what she wants, so she tries an experiment with a Dom that leaves her wanting.  Logan sees her and is interested, but is not sure he wants to take on an inexperienced sub.  Choices are made after some mutual friends set them up.

Initiation is the first book in the Master Class series and the title is very apt as Jennifer learns about what she wants and what she can handle. Ms. Cartwright has done it again with her insight into the BDSM lifestyle.  Readers will note how references are made to Jennifer’s safe word and the word to say when she needs to slow down and discuss something to become more comfortable.

Logan has had some problems in the past with women not understanding his job as a private investigator and the hours sometimes involved.  Jennifer has also had problems with men not understanding her need to stand on her own and her dreams of owning her own business.  While there is a misunderstanding as Logan finishes up a case, an understanding between the two is reached.

The chemistry between Logan and Jennifer is hot. The scenes are very intense and the descriptions will make you squirm in a good way.

I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the Master Class series.  Those that are familiar with Ms. Cartwright’s books will not be disappointed with this one.  In my opinion, Ms. Cartwright is fast becoming one of the top authors within the BDSM genre.

Readers should be aware that this book has been revised and re-edited for this publisher.

Needing a Vampire’s Aggression

Parker is still grieving the death of his husband.  To the shifter, it does not matter that ten years have passed; the loss of his human husband is just as strong today as the day Donnie died.  When Parker comes across Nikolai at a poker game, he is not prepared to acknowledge his mate and leaves.

Needing a Vampire’s Aggression is the 35th book in the Wolves of Stone Ridge series by author Charlie Richards.  This new story brings a member of the Kuznetsov Vampire Coven to the forefront once again.  Nikolai is the coven’s second and acts as the group’s enforcer.  He is used to doing what is needed to keep his family safe, regardless of what it calls for.  Because of this, Nikolai is a little more intense and darker than other members of his family.  I liked that these same facts made the Kuznetsov family protective of Nikolai, especially when it came to Parker acknowledging the mate connection.

Parker is a wolf shifter and member of the Stone Ridge pack.  It is easy to feel for the shifter as he continues to pine for his late husband.  While I felt for Parker, I could not help but think how messy things could have been if Donnie had still been alive when Nikolai came into the picture.  The author does a good job showcasing the struggle Parker went through when it came to dealing with his grief, meeting Nikolai, acknowledging the mate connection and handling the feelings of disloyalty that he has because of his growing need for the vampire.

With the help of friends, these two are brought together in a situation that really heats up the pages.  Some readers may find what happens next a little off putting but the scene is well written and true to the characters.

Of course, fans of this series know that the books are never just about the romance between the main characters and Needing a Vampire’s Aggression is no different.  Nikolai, at Jared’s request, participates in a mission that is supposed to be well planned. However, more than one problem pops up and things get a little out of hand, which means Parker will be forced to come to terms with his feelings faster than he planned.  I can’t wait to see how the next stories play out, especially after the way the mission ended.

Fans of this series are sure to enjoy this story as it is one that should not be missed.

Teodor always believed he was a sinner and not a good man. Other than his music, he could not accept his nature.  Because of this, he ended up abandoning Eva, the love of his life.  What happens when he realizes he may lose her forever?

Harmony is the fourth book in the Masters of the Order series and this story is about Teodor and his struggle to accept himself.  One thing that is a little different from the previous stories is that this book goes from the past to the present and also looks at things from Eva’s, as well as Teodor’s, perspective.  In this respect, sometimes the story was a little hard to follow, but it makes perfect sense as you witness the full impact of Teodor’s struggle.  Harmony is a very intense and emotional book.

Part of Teodor’s problem was his addiction to drugs, which added to his sense of guilt and self-loathing.  He did not want to accept the things that Eva loved as right between the two and ended up leaving Eva.  Eva herself made some choices after that that had a big impact on her self-worth.  Readers should be aware there is one ménage scene that makes Eva realize she deserves better.

I loved that several of the Doms and their ladies helped both get to the point that they needed to be so they could eventually be together.  There are places that may be difficult for some, especially the suicide thoughts, and I was actually in tears reading some sections.  Another influence that added to Teodor’s view of himself was his brother’s input and his opinion that he freely shared with Toedor. The author has a lot of insight into the lifestyle and the responsibilities of a Master/Dom to his sub and the sub’s responsibility.  As always, open communication is stressed as the key to a successful BDSM relationship.

It was very clear from the beginning that Teodor and Eva had some intense chemistry together.  The author was also very sensitive to the fact that Eva was seventeen when the two met.

There are still a few Master’s that haven’t gotten their relationship yet and Teodor’s fellow band members are also interesting and hopefully will get stories as well, as they have had Teodor’s back from the beginning.

I am looking forward to reading more of the Masters of the Order series.

Ava arrives at the tryouts for a new reality show with her friend Emmett, who is helping her with her agenda against her step-father.  They don’t let anyone know just how inexperienced she really is about BDSM.  Ava ends up getting paired with Roman.

The Power Games is the first book in the Club Helix series, and is by an author I have never read before.  After reading The Power Games, I have to say that Ms. Bush is an author that has been added to my must look for list as she is very knowledgeable about the BDSM lifestyle.  While a lot of scenes in this book are very intense, she explains things Ava has questions about in a very understandable way that gets to the heart of things.

Roman knows that there is something slightly off, but is immediately captivated by Ava.  He has his own demons, but once Ava starts to trust him, she also realizes he can make her face some of her demons.  The chemistry between the two is very intense.  Readers should also know that the last major scene between them in the contest can cause some triggers as it is a very intense kidnap scene with the scene continuing into role-playing.

Things come to a head between Roman and Ava after a scene triggers Ava, so she has to come clean.  Ava learns the most important lesson in a relationship with a Dom is communication.  Roman and Ava renegotiate her contract and limit list once they clear the air.  I loved the last part of the book where they admit they love each other, though that was also the only part I didn’t like, as I would have liked to know a little more about what happened between them after that.

There are a few secondary characters that help the story along; it is a reality show after all.  The relationship between Ava and Emmett is explained as well as the full reasons Ava decided to do the contest.  I have to give the author kudos for the concept of doing this contest to coincide with the opening of Club Helix and the interest it generates.

I am looking forward to more stories in the Club Helix series, especially if they are as intense and well written as The Power Games.  This book is one to read again and should be on every BDSM lover’s bookshelf.

Sadie, as the last one to finish the pact she and her friends made, schedules her fantasy through Castle Dolce Vita.  She is surprised by Dax but knows it was a one-time deal.  Both are surprised after Dax is injured and needs home health care and Sadie ends up being his nurse.

Burn for You is the fourth and last book in the Pact of Seduction series.  Sadie is usually really reserved and it took a lot for her to uphold her end, even letting a friend take her turn while she worked up her courage.  Dax only wants the casual encounters done through the Castle and is surprised by Sadie.

The chemistry between Sadie and Dax is very intense and surprises them both.  Both have some issues that neither really want to look at and it is only with the help of Sadie’s friends and their men, that Sadie decides to go after what she really wants.  Dax has to make some choices as well, especially when the other men descend on him.

One thing I really liked about this series is that all the friends talked with each other and gently pointed out some things as real friends do.  The men, who are all Doms, also made a point of talking with each other to discuss why certain things became issues and pointing out their responsibility to their women.

The stories in the Pact of Seduction series are ones to be read again.

Todd and Nick are on the move, heading for Yellowknife and the chance to start over.  Along the way the two men come to the aid of others also looking for the chance of freedom.  Change is in the air for all of them and as long as Todd and Nick can stay together, the two know everything will turn out fine.

Ringed Love is the sixth and final book in the Sentries series by Elizabeth Noble. It is also the sequel to Tethered Pair.  The author starts the story in a way that readers will find refreshing; with Nick showing a group of young adults what it means to be a vet and sentry.  I had to laugh as the group was charged with helping a cow give birth.  One of the young men reminded me of my nephew when he walked in on the cat having kittens.  This, of course, had me laughing even more.  From there, the author takes the readers back, reminding them how the two met and some of the obstacle they faced along the way.

We get to see the continued strong connection Nick and Todd have.  The chemistry between them heats up the pages and the light BDSM that exists in their relationship is done in a way that flows with the story and does not seem forced.  Then there is the matter of their jobs as sentries.  The “things” the men go up against are fierce, yet Nick and Todd go out of their way protecting others from them.  But time passes and when the men’s lives change, it becomes clear that, while there is a need for sentries, it is a job for more than Nick and Todd, so the two begin training others.

Watching the men grow old is a change from what we normally see in stories.  It is normal for stories to leave things to the reader’s imagination, yet Ms. Noble takes the readers on a journey that hits on many points of Nick’s and Todd’s lives.  The ending is also different than what we normally see and I have a hard time deciding if it was an ending I liked, or if I would have been happier with things left to my imagination.

Sentries is a series that I have enjoyed reading.  Getting to know the characters and the world they lived in was fun and I hate to see the series come to an end.  Fans of this series are sure to love the way in which the author wraps everything up and those that have not yet tried these books should know that this is a series that must be read in order.
