Kellan Largent, a grad student at Harvard, is waiting at the bus stop when a handsome stranger approaches and strikes up a conversation with Kellan. The stranger is Baz, a man that seems very interested in Kellan’s research into the Earth Warrior cult. However, Baz is not the only one interested in Kellan’s finds; there is an evil man who will do anything for the immorality spell, including kill Kellan for the temple’s secret location.

Bastet is the first book in the Earth Warriors series. The well-written plot has suspense, action and a dash of cultural history, interwoven with steamy romance, as well as moments of humor. The characters are believable with great interaction between them. Baz is one of seven chosen to be an earth warrior by the Egyptian deity Isis who granted them immorality, along with the ability to shift forms. Their objective is to protect the Earth from destruction and keep the secrets of the Earth Warriors from mortals.

Kellan is shy unless he is talking about his passion for knowledge, then Kellan turns into a chatterbox. Although his intellectual mind finds it hard to believe Baz can shift forms, Kellan feels safe with Baz. Their growing love for each other is articulated with sultry touches, as well as incredible intimate scenes.

Baz was sent to keep Kellan from finding out the truth about the cult, but also to keep Kellan alive. Kellan’s research discoveries on ancient Egyptian religious cults have placed his life in jeopardy. While performing his duty as protector, Baz fell in love with Kellan. Baz is a romantic who treats Kellan with loving respect.

T. A. Chase has created an extremely enjoyable saga. I look forward to the next installment in the Earth Warriors series.

Though she has overcome many obstacles, Molly Rice still struggles every single day.  Being born to horrible parents started the empty existence she deals with.  Life is better, but far from perfect.  If there was any way Molly could become wallpaper and blend into the background, that would be her wish.  But what she gets is the unexpected chance to save someone else. 

Connor Ellison just can’t do it anymore.  The money and upscale lifestyle doesn’t give Connor what he truly needs.  Between his job and his parents, all the happiness has been drained from his life and nobody seems to understand that.  At the lowest point of his life, Connor meets a pretty brunette who stops him from doing something stupid.

Molly butts into Connor’s life just in time to help him turn things around.  He’s surprised that a complete stranger could have such compassion for him, considering his parents didn’t seem to give a damn.  She was the only one he felt comfortable with, and Connor didn’t want to give that up.  Because of her past, dating wasn’t something Molly thought about much.  Dealing with her addiction was more than enough to monopolize Molly’s attention, but still there was the emptiness.  Being with Connor made some of her demons disappear and gave Molly the hope for love.

The couple’s bliss is constantly being interrupted by people who do their best to bring them down.  Molly and Connor become distant when too many negative people and events crop up and things take a turn for the worse.  Molly is involved in an accident that nearly kills her and some people are holding Connor responsible.  Without Molly by his side, Connor gives in to his father’s demands.  At this point, it seems the couple will never sort things out, but after a lot of time and soul searching they do.

If you are having a pity party, then I challenge you to read Unbreak Me.  I was so outraged and devastated by the lives of Molly and Connor, that it made my bad days seem like a picnic in the park.  The physical and mental abuse Molly suffered was difficult to read about.  I am amazed that she could be so positive and helpful with Connor.  I loved her opening words to him when they met.  Molly’s humor and honesty turned the entire situation around and I loved that about her.  Connor now makes me believe that maybe the best things in life are free.  He had plenty of money, a high profile job and lifestyle, but his family was awful.  He and Molly will always be broken, but because they found each other, now they have closure and hope

When Belle is forced to move to New York and work for Magnus, Belle’s loyalty begins to change. Belle is very much attracted to Magnus, but feels guilty about turning his back on family.

Magnus continues to wear his scars as a reminder of his past, he does not believe he is worthy of love until Belle breaks through Magnus’s shield. Magnus does everything within his power to help others yet he denies his own desires for happiness.

  

Tara Lain has created a marvelously uplifting saga that I immensely enjoyed. The main characters are a perfect example of what it means to love thy neighbor. Even though Belle’s family seems to be callous, the reason for their actions is comprehensible.

Charles made his money the old fashion way.  He inherited it.  Much to his shock, he also inherited his three small cousins.  Knowing children won’t fit into his playboy life, Charles hires a nanny to care for the children.  Jon knows what it is like to be an orphan and has no trouble bonding with the kids; it’s the uncle he is worried about.

Finding Family is an interesting new book by author Connie Bailey.  It follows a well-used theme, yet there are some refreshing aspects to it as well.  Charles is a rich man who lived his life for himself until the day his parents died and he is named head of the family business.  Shortly after the death of his parents, his uncle and aunt pass and he finds himself the guardian of his three much younger cousins.  Charles now finds himself with a lot on his plate, yet he is not ready for all the responsibilities thrown at him.  I have to say that I spent a majority of the book not liking Charles.  He lost his family members, due to alcohol, and is following in their footsteps.  He also had no concern for his cousins and, more than once, I wanted to smack him and tell him to step up.

Charles’ assistant knows he needs a nanny and after the children have gone through several women, many of whom thought it would give them a chance with Charles, he hires a man.  Jon grew up in an orphanage, staying even after he ages out.  He knows that it is time to go out into the real world and when the offer to become a nanny comes up, he takes it.  Jon has no idea what to expect and he is shocked when he sees the life he has stepped into.  I liked Jon, especially the way he handles the children.  More than once, he had me laughing as he dealt with the kids and started to show them the love they had been missing. 

There is a relationship building between Jon and Charles, but while the relationship is in its infancy, the two men are faced with issues that cause problems in more than their relationship.  Money is missing from Charles’ company and Charles has been made the fall guy.  There is one point in this story, while Charles was working, when I thought “You idiot, that’s going to come back and kick you in the butt.”  While it was easy to see the problems come Charles’ way, the why and who behind them was surprising.  

The various little twists and turns keep the story moving nicely and I really liked a couple of the secondary characters. I think it would be interesting to see them get stories of their own.  The author did a great job wrapping Finding Family up and I think fans of this author are really going to like this new book.

Overall, THIRDS – Beyond the Books, Flash Fiction Vol. 1 is somewhat tedious to read, several of the numerous prompts are repetitive. The THIRDS series details Action, Comedy and Romance with an in depth character descriptions and background. Readers who have not read the series may have a hard time engaging with the characters. I did enjoy the stories featuring the agents in their animal forms.

Anna discovers that she has royal Nyal blood when she starts having some strange symptoms.  After talking with her family, she decides to become a bride to escape having what happened to her grandmother happen to her.

Quiver is the 34^th book in the Terran Times Second Wave series.  Because Anna is Terran, she is offered, by the Nyal Prince, to one of the Guardians first instead of going through a bride auction.  Quake takes her after doing some research and offers a rather large bride price, partly to irritate his mother.  The chemistry between Anna and Quake is hot.

This story gives more information about the Nyal Imperium, specifically regarding getting a bride.  One thing that is key is that the bride is having her first heat.  It is expected that by the end of the couples bonding, she will be pregnant.  I loved Quake’s mother.  Her whole attitude from when she first met Anna and the change once she determined she would be a grandmother was funny.  Then she took Anna under her wing to the point that Anna was a little overwhelmed.

One great thing about the Terran Times Second Wave series is that the author has created some very interesting worlds and people that populate them.  While there are some mini-series within this one, most are standalone stories that transport the reader to that world.  

I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

The Trouble with Mirrors is the fifth book in The Vamp for Me series. The series is a romantic comedy with a touch of drama and steamy intimacy. The vampires are a group of misfits, forming a coven led by Claude, who started a dating site to attract willing human mates. Without mates, the only other feeding options is blood bank deliveries or go on a hunt for dinner and risk sunburn if you lose track of the time.

Paolo is on a fact gathering mission when he encounters his future mate Dakota, but Dakota is in big trouble. His brother is forcing him to join the Dark Slayers, the very group Paolo is spying on. Things get tense when an attempted escape is discovered and survival is not looking to be in Paolo’s favor.

Bailey Bradford has created an exceptionally intriguing and enjoyable episode that poses several questions in the reader’s mind, as well as builds the desire for the next book in hopes of finding the answers to the mysteries revealed.

Sadie, as the last one to finish the pact she and her friends made, schedules her fantasy through Castle Dolce Vita.  She is surprised by Dax but knows it was a one-time deal.  Both are surprised after Dax is injured and needs home health care and Sadie ends up being his nurse.

Burn for You is the fourth and last book in the Pact of Seduction series.  Sadie is usually really reserved and it took a lot for her to uphold her end, even letting a friend take her turn while she worked up her courage.  Dax only wants the casual encounters done through the Castle and is surprised by Sadie. 

The chemistry between Sadie and Dax is very intense and surprises them both.  Both have some issues that neither really want to look at and it is only with the help of Sadie’s friends and their men, that Sadie decides to go after what she really wants.  Dax has to make some choices as well, especially when the other men descend on him.

One thing I really liked about this series is that all the friends talked with each other and gently pointed out some things as real friends do.  The men, who are all Doms, also made a point of talking with each other to discuss why certain things became issues and pointing out their responsibility to their women. 

The stories in the Pact of Seduction series are ones to be read again.

Todd and Nick are on the move, heading for Yellowknife and the chance to start over.  Along the way the two men come to the aid of others also looking for the chance of freedom.  Change is in the air for all of them and as long as Todd and Nick can stay together, the two know everything will turn out fine.

Ringed Love is the sixth and final book in the Sentries series by Elizabeth Noble. It is also the sequel to Tethered Pair.  The author starts the story in a way that readers will find refreshing; with Nick showing a group of young adults what it means to be a vet and sentry.  I had to laugh as the group was charged with helping a cow give birth.  One of the young men reminded me of my nephew when he walked in on the cat having kittens.  This, of course, had me laughing even more.  From there, the author takes the readers back, reminding them how the two met and some of the obstacle they faced along the way. 

We get to see the continued strong connection Nick and Todd have.  The chemistry between them heats up the pages and the light BDSM that exists in their relationship is done in a way that flows with the story and does not seem forced.  Then there is the matter of their jobs as sentries.  The “things” the men go up against are fierce, yet Nick and Todd go out of their way protecting others from them.  But time passes and when the men’s lives change, it becomes clear that, while there is a need for sentries, it is a job for more than Nick and Todd, so the two begin training others. 

Watching the men grow old is a change from what we normally see in stories.  It is normal for stories to leave things to the reader’s imagination, yet Ms. Noble takes the readers on a journey that hits on many points of Nick’s and Todd’s lives.  The ending is also different than what we normally see and I have a hard time deciding if it was an ending I liked, or if I would have been happier with things left to my imagination.   

Sentries is a series that I have enjoyed reading.  Getting to know the characters and the world they lived in was fun and I hate to see the series come to an end.  Fans of this series are sure to love the way in which the author wraps everything up and those that have not yet tried these books should know that this is a series that must be read in order.

Kyra has always fantasized about being with two men at the same time.  She thinks that she will spend the evening with Smith and Brock, then walk away.  The men have a very different idea, and have to convince Kyra they belong together.

The Pact of Seduction Boxed Set contains the first three books in the Pact of Seduction series and was issued as a boxed set to celebrate the release of the fourth and last book in the series.  On Marley’s birthday, four friends enter into a pact to pursue a fantasy they have, drawing straws to determine the order in which they will do it.   

Using the Castle Dolce Vita site, which is a BDSM club with some strict rules regarding membership, three of the friends meet their matches. Each book has some very intense scenes in them and the chemistry between all the couples and the ménage burn the pages.   

I loved reading these books, and liked how the author was careful to explain things and make sure safe words were created for the two stories that were BDSM-related.  The fact that Reed and Kole also watched out for Kyra when she had her turn was heartwarming. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and will be reading these stories again.

Life has always been like a rollercoaster ride that never ends for bar owner Natalea Jones.  Bad parenting started her off on the wrong foot from birth and still haunts her.  It’s a miracle Natalea turned out so well rounded, and it’s all because of one man.  Drake is the best friend Natalea’s ever had and the only man who is off limits to her.  Was a romp in the hay really worth losing the feeling of having a real family life?

Drake Harte’s career is to put out fires, but the one flame he can’t extinguish is the one he carries for Natalea.  For what seemed like forever, Drake has been trying to stake his claim on Natalea, but she isn’t hearing it.  He knows things between them would be perfect, but Natalea has the wrong idea about Drake.  She refuses to take him seriously.  Convincing her otherwise is going to be sweet torture.

When Natalea’s trifling mother reappears, Drake gets his chance to lay all his cards on the table, so his friend status disappears in the blink of an eye.  These two were always meant to be more than buddies, and now they are both on the same page.  Their story is short, but packed with so much emotion and back story. Part of me wanted more of a glimpse into Natalea’s past, but another part wanted to turn a blind eye when I thought of all the horrible things she experienced because of her mother.  That woman is the reason some people should be sterile.  

The Misbehaved left me feeling the comfortable side of romance, when lovers are actually friends too.  Jessica Jayne did a great job of sharing Natalea’s problems, but not making me feel sorry for her.  In fact, I felt empowered by her strength and inspired by the obstacles she overcame.

Query is the 32^nd book in the Terran Times Second Wave series.  Other than a few mishaps, this story is different in that there is not major crisis that Freddy has to overcome.  I loved the reason she has Sneed, her toy dragon.  I also had a good laugh at some of the antics of the Guardians and later when Freddy finds out a drink she was given gives her the same reaction as the tea she drinks while she is giving people their fortunes.

Rune is also from a race that had to adapt, but they have a history of taking Terrans as mates.  It was entertaining how Rune and Freddy get together, especially since Freddy already knew he was her mate. 

The glimpses received about the other Guardians are interesting, especially Ember and her brother, Rescue.  I really liked some of the names of the secondary characters in the story.  It will be fun to see some of their stories in the future of this series.

Running for his life, Zane’s old truck breaks down. Thankfully Butch stops to help Zane and even offers to take him home. Although Zane is bruised and swollen, Butch’s lover Randy thinks Zane is beautiful.

Three of a Kind is a heartwarming budding romance. The plot illustrates the kind of humanity anyone in trouble would hope to encounter. The characters are amusing, as well as creditable. Butch and Randy were happy to help and were always considerate of Zane’s needs.  

Zane is running from an abusive relationship, he has been badly beaten, but was able to drive from Texas to Arizona before he broke down. Zane knew he needed medical care, but was afraid his ex-boyfriend would find him and finish his attempt to kill Zane.

 

Butch and Randy live out in the middle of nowhere. Butch is an easy going construction worker and Randy is a dreamer who creates sculptures out of metal. All three are honorable men. Each man contributes to the household maintenance. Since Zane is the only one of them that can cook, he is a great asset to Butch and Randy.

Sean Michael has created an impressive as well as a cheerful saga that I very much enjoyed.
