Once Upon A Dragon

Author:  Dawn Montgomery

Princess Penelope has been running from an evil queen for a while.  Now that she’s been captured, there is only one choice for freedom.  Penelope accepted a dangerous quest to the Andvarian source, even though it could mean death.  Also there was the problem of the sexy baritone man that she was chained to as a partner on the quest.  Sex with him was off the table, no matter how much he made Penelope burn.

Shane Masters is no ordinary man.  He’s willing to do anything necessary to go free, but also to sleep with Penelope, regardless of the hopeless circumstances.  Protecting Penelope comes naturally for Shane and he isn’t shy about letting her know how he feels.

Once Upon A Dragon is the second installment in the WTF Dragon series.  The story starts with lots of history in play and left me with questions.  By the end of the adventure, I was up to speed.  Penelope and Shane’s immediate attraction added excitement to the chaos going on around them.  I enjoyed how magic worked for and against the couple at the same time.  This story is definitely not predictable, and I think readers will appreciate the “outside the box” plot from Dawn Montgomery.

Saviours of Oestend

Title: Saviours of Oestend
Author: Marie Sexton
Publisher: Total-E-Bound Publishing

Genre: {M/M} Cowboy Dark Fantasy Sequel

Dante Pane had tried to give up on life when he was forced to leave his home at the BarChi. However, the wraiths plaguing all of Oestend did not kill him. Instead, his new home was cursed with dead animals, unnatural weather and voices riding the wind.

Saviours of Oestend is the intriguing sequel to Song of Oestend. Like the first book, this story continues the complex plot that illustrates how the first settlers of Oestend created an imbalance of the lands, as well as destroying the native people. The current ranch owners are paying the price for their thoughtless forefathers. There are three amongst them that inherited the magic of the old ones. By joining their magic together, the spirits are finally appeased. The characters are convincing. Dante has been forced into a sexuality closet, which makes him a bitter man. He is jealous of the happiness Deacon has found in an openly gay relationship with Aren. Cami is not what she appears to be and is a mystery to everyone, yet she is the only one who can reach the heart and soul of Dante. The plot gives a detailed history of the land and the characters. Intimacies between the various couples are illustrated. There is even a six-way sexual ritual highlighted.

Saviours of Oestend is a fascinating and exceedingly enjoyable saga. However, you must read Song of Oestend first in order to truly understand the thorough plot.

Officer Blake Astor’s philosophy was simple when it came to arresting hookers, sex in exchange for letting them go, except when it came to Io Spencer. Blake could not resist the incredible sex with Io, nor could Blake’s patrol partner, Ronnie Kemp, resist joining into the sexual feast Io’s temping body offered.

Sin Row is a dark fantasy set in a future world that mirrors today’s world. Optimism has been replaced by the need for survival. Criminals possess more powerful weapons than the police. Corruption, violence and other illegal activities are business as usual. Blake was mentally conditioned to his existence after men had used him, abused him and betrayed him. Ronnie’s cold-hearted emotions do not extend beyond his sex drive; he could care less about using a person, including Blake, to obtain sexual release and Blake was Ronnie’s work partner for five years. Io’s profession is the end product of growing up in foster care.

Scarlet Blackwell’s Sin Row features the dregs of humanity trapped in the slum part of a city, along with a glimmer of romance between Blake and Io. Sin Row is an impressive, as well as enjoyable saga highlighting the tough life of a prostitute.

Butting heads with Appraxia, one of the Gods of Chaos, costs Silas Ritchie everything and he’s been living on the streets or in shelters for the past two years, trying to survive. When Dante offers him a job and Rayne negotiates him another chance with Appraxia, Silas is willing to do whatever it takes to reclaim his life.

When told to watch over Silas, Bryn expects to be working with a drunken hobo, but even with his badly shaking hands and ragged clothes, its obvious Silas isn’t a bum. Bryn is instantly enthralled by the small man but convincing Silas to let him help isn’t easy. Can Silas find love, redemption and reclaim his life and ability to paint, or will he spend the rest of his life on the streets alone?

Devil’s Playground is book three in Gabrielle Evan’s Gods of Chaos series and because of the returning characters from Devil Did Grin, I recommend they be read in order. Past his month of redemption, Silas is still a proud, kindhearted man…one Rayne and Dante want to help. Since these two are sprinkled prominently throughout the story, it’s important to read their book first.

You have to like Silas. Ms. Evan has given him a warm and charming personality and a well developed background. Then there’s hunky Bryn. You’d never imagine this hardworking and tenderhearted man would have so many unexpected secrets in his life (watch out for the plot twists). The emotional connection between Silas and Bryn is intense from the start and it only grows stronger the longer they’re together. And let’s not forget the sex. When they finally allow their relationship to turn physical, these two are sizzling hot together. But Silas and Bryn also enjoy each other company, so you’ve also got some fun, bantering dialogue, mixed into this smooth flowing, well plotted story.

There are several other secondary characters to watch for. Aiden, Bryn’s brother who pops in and out, as well as a villain, and even one or more of the troublemaking chaos gods who make intermittent appearances. Look for Devil’s Auction coming next.

Precious Blood

Title: Precious Blood
Authors: A. J. Llewellyn & D. J. Manly

Max is still working to bring down Jimmy McGill when he discovers the charismatic and dangerous vampire is someone from his past. This time, he’s set himself up as a phony prophet with his own church and is using his deluded converts as blood sacrifices.

Jimmy’s plans include destroying Max and part of that involves playing with his mind, which means they have a personal connection. Except because of what happened in their past, Max is unable to remember his early life as a human…his life before being turned is a blank and if he’s to destroy Jimmy, he must remember.

All Max wants is to be left alone to enjoy his vineyard with Blue at his side but that can’t happen until Jimmy and his minions are destroyed. As the fight draws closer, important figures from the French Revolution come out of hiding and Max gathers his forces for the battle against Jimmy’s immense army. Can Max and the House of Driscoll survive?

Precious Blood is the second release in the House of Driscoll trilogy and begins almost immediately after the first left off and because of the continuing storyline, they should be read in order.

The writing by this talented writing duo is top notch and they’ve given us a plot and relationships that are just as complicated as before. Some of the plot threads previously left dangling have been tied up, but now that the story is focused on finding and eliminating crazy Jimmy, we’ve been given new and deeper mysteries to consider. There are also new and important characters from the French Revolution introduced that I didn’t expect.

The description of the world in which the trilogy takes place is vividly detailed and I am thrilled with the personal background information on Max we finally got. It explained so well why he felt and acted the way he did because despite liking him, I found him rather cold and unfeeling until the later part of the story. Blue has changed a great deal since his initial introduction. I find him more intriguing the deeper into the story we get. He’s so in love with Max that it’s sad and I want this part of the plot to work out. Then there’s Galien. I really disliked him before and don’t like him much more this time, but there are some interesting and unexpected twists with him.

There’s just so much going on. The authors have really outdone themselves in the storytelling, character development and details of this intricate and well written story. I can’t wait to see what they do to wrap everything up in the last release. Enjoy.

Advisory: This book contains some graphic violence and blood play. May not be suitable for the more sensitive reader.

Affairs of Dragons

The village tradition is to sacrifice a virgin to the dragon who lives in the mountain. Seduced into a compromising position by a traveling juggler, Jonndre the Potter becomes the next offering to the dragon. Always before, Patch would send the virgin sacrifices off to start their new lives. However, when Patch glimpses Jon, beaten and tethered to the rock outside his cave, Patch decides to keep Jon as his mate.

Affairs of Dragons is the first book in the Dragon's Mate series. The plot is well written with riveting action, violence instigated by greedy culprits, a smidgen of humor, spiritual healing expressed through love, along with a small quantity of sensual intimacy. The unfolding background mystery is well paced. The characters are creditable. Jon is an honorable man who lives in loneliness, as well as fear because of his sexuality. Fully expecting to die at the hands of the dragon, Jon is surprised when Patch nursed him back to health instead. Jon is immediately attracted to the beauty of Patch; both in man form and dragon form. Jon has no problem communicating his observations of Patch’s endowments. Nevertheless Jon feels he is not good enough to be in Patch’s exalted present.

Patch is also lonely. He finds Jon’s polite demeanor to be alluring. Jon and Patch have well-suited compassionate personalities. The storyline highlights the homophobic mind-set of villagers controlled by the priest. The plot illustrates civilization’s true abomination is ignorance, as well as the refusal to amend consistently restricted philosophies. The gifted Lena Austin has produced an outstanding and enormously pleasurable saga. I look forward to the next exciting episode.

Hunter will have to tell his husband the truth before Sylver decides that two can plan the cheating game. Will he be able to stop his beloved before it’s too late?

The Werewolf In Red is the sequel to Thunderball and Mimi Riser definitely knows how to make each story more interesting and captivating than the last. We meet a few new fascinating characters, while getting a glimpse of how Sylver and Hunter first met. There is no downtime in this book. From the first line, it was fast speed ahead. The storyline moves effortlessly from one encounter to the next, building the anticipation of what will happen next with each new event.

The sex is definitely hot and raw and Sylver’s quick wit kept me laughing. To add some spice, Ms. Riser throws in action, suspense and a budding relationship that I can’t wait to see flourish. Those who’ve loved Sylver and Hunter stories in the past will be happy they bought The Werewolf In Red.

Clay Chiles is the leader of the Border Patrol’s Paranormal Operations Unit. He understands the importance of that role and refuses to allow anything to stand in his way. Clay has begun to think of those he commands as family and while he loves seeing them find love and lasting relationships, he cannot help but to feel a bit jealous of their freedom to admit their inclinations.

Elf Arondel Wanderer comes from a long line of royals. His mission - to help with the efforts to stop the evasion - seems simple until he encounters Clay. Clay is the man Aron has waited his lifetime for. While his mind tells him not to rush Clay, his heart and body longs to make the man his soul-mate.

Will Aron lose Clay before he’s had the chance to woo him, or will they gain the happiness they both long to obtain?

Deirdre O'Dare’s latest installment in the Thin Green Line series, Runes Of Revelation, brings us a romance that I thought I would have to wait months to finally read. Aron and Clay make a magnificent couple. Each is powerful, respected and aching to finally find love. Ms. O’Dare keeps it simple with these two. No elaborate conflict scenes or misconstrued events but a straightforward alliance as both team members and lovers. There is some action and suspense in the story, but I never had to wonder what was going on with this couple. It was refreshing to see two lovers just get it and understand that they belonged together.

Runes Of Revelation ends on a note that sets the stage for future tales. With so many elves and unmatched team members I can only guess where this is headed.

Those who have enjoyed past stories in this series will be happy they purchased Runes Of Revelation.

Trent Edwards has made a promise to himself to find his brother and bring him home, dead or alive. Reports of his sighting lead Trent to rent a house in a mountain community, where he meets Martin Longhouse. Martin is immediately attracted to Trent and wants to help him find his brother. Both men have a few secrets they aren’t willing to share. While Trent being an officer isn’t a deal breaker, Martin’s secret could be too much for the officer to accept.

Will Trent find his brother? Will he leave Martin when the truth is revealed?

Carolina Valdez takes us to a small community where things that go bump in the night have learned to coexist. Trent is a good man who places nothing above his family. He knows something has happened to his brother and only wants the truth to come out. Martin’s solitude existence is tested when Trent hits the scene. He knows that their connection makes him feel things he never thought possible. While it scares him a bit, being without Trent frightens him more. They definitely heat up the pages. The residents of this small community are an eclectic bunch adding a nice variety to the story.

There was something that happened to Trent that left me baffled. If Ms. Valdez decides to give us a sequel maybe I’ll understand how Trent ended up in need of Martin’s service.

Overall, I thought the story was well written. The characters reeled me in and the setting was magnificent.

Acon has accepted the task of securing a grotesque monster and delivering her to his brothers. Because of his Mountain God status, Acon wasn’t expecting to be affected by the gorgon. After laying eyes on his beautiful opponent, the only thing Acon wanted to secure was a place in her bed.

What Kyma wants most is the one thing she has never experienced firsthand - love. Loneliness and regret are the only emotions this daughter of Medusa feels until a mysterious giant offers her pleasure.

Things get interesting when the hunter realizes he’s at the mercy of the hunted. Kyma flips the entire situation on Acon and this causes a misunderstanding with Acon and his brothers. Obstacles crop up for the couple but fortunately, they are no match for fate. As cliché as it sounds, Acon is a perfect match for Kyma. He sees the beauty in her that few others see. Forever is a long time when you’re immortal and even longer when you’re facing it alone, as Kyma was. There was a moment or two when Cynthia Sax made me feel Kyma’s pain as it oozed from the pages. Gargoyle: Hard as Stone is a passionate read that puts life into perspective by breaking it down to the simplest form. At the end of the day, love is all that matters.

Border Patrol Officer Manuel Ortiz kept his ability to shape-shift into a red-tailed hawk a well guarded secret. He refuses to allow family or co-workers close enough to know about his abilities. The thought of ostracism frightens him.

Border Patrol Agent Alex Macalister is used to keeping his own secrets and those of the members of the Paranormal Operations Unit. They operate under a “don’t ask, don’t tell” rule but all the agents know how to keep the other’s council, which allows them to work well together. Alex is sure that being teamed with Manuel has something to do with abilities he doesn’t want advertised. Is it enough to make him want to keep Manuel as a partner? If Alex can get over his loner ways, he might find out that being teamed with Manuel could have him soaring on Wings of Love.

Deirdre O'Dare The Thin Green Line series is back with another interesting tale. We are once again on the border between Arizona, New Mexico and Mexico, where the illegal activity is increasing. Shape-shifters team up with aliens in this installment, giving the border patrol agents an adventure they wouldn’t soon forget and creating an interesting story for those of us who enjoy dark-fantasy.

The combination of action, suspense and a budding relationship between Manuel and Alex kept the story flowing from beginning to end. Alex isn’t a complicated character; he’s just a man who enjoys his own company. He grew up sheltered in one aspect when it comes to learning about his abilities and understanding how to use them. His way of performing his job may seem strange to others, but Manuel figures out how to go with the flow.

Manuel lacked the opportunity to share his abilities with a trusted loved one and Alex filled that void. He learned to enjoy his gift even more over time. Finally having someone who “gets it” made him a stronger man. It was nice to see some of his and Alex’s defenses melt in the wake of the other.

The cameo appearances add to the story without distracting us from our main characters. I found Wings of Love a well written read that touches on the subjects of the importance of friendship, faith, and trust.

House of Driscoll

Title: House of Driscoll
Author(s): A. J. Llewellyn & D. J. Manly

Genre: [M/M] Dark Fantasy, Vampire,

All of France is in an uproar and revolution is brewing during the period when wealthy aristocrat Max Driscoll gets sexually involved with Galien, a stable hand and when the young man is arrested and facing death on the guillotine, Max turns him into a vampire. It doesn’t take long for Max to realize that his new fledgling isn’t the man he thought and the two part company. It doesn’t matter that nearly three hundred years have passed or that the two vampires live thousands of miles apart, Max can’t shake the now rogue vampire who’s willing to do just about anything to get his attention.

Now serving as the vampire council’s ‘cleaner’, Max is forced to travel to New York in order to confront Galien, when a series of murders in the gay community threatens to expose the existence of the vampire world. He vows to take care of the problem—Galien, but discovers on arrival that he’s not the vampire on the gruesome killing spree. It’s Blue, a beautiful young man recently turned by Galien and left untrained by his creator. Can Max discover the cause of Blue’s homicidal rage and turn him into a suitable partner and a worthy member of House Driscoll, or will he be forced to carry out the counsels’ edict? Death.

House of Driscoll is the first release in a new dark fantasy/vampire series. It starts during the bleak and frightening days of the French Revolution and progresses rapidly to present day France.

There’s a lot going on in this story and the relationships between the vampires are complicated, but once the set-up portion is complete, the characters, their relationships and the plot focus straightens out, making it easier to follow. The characters are numerous and the roles they play vary in overall plot importance but they’re all interesting, each with their own distinctive personality twists. The authors did a nice job building these vampires into unique individuals, some of whom I liked and others I disliked. Max believes in justice and fairness, but doesn’t know how to open his heart to love, and despite his cold-fish attitude, I liked him. Galien is a 300 hundred year old manipulative, spoiled brat, who is obsessed with Max—him I disliked, a lot. Blue is a bit of a puzzle. He’s kind, sensitive, caring and after what Galien did to him, capable of rage and murder, yet I found him a sympathetic character. Katherine is passionate, loyal to Max, fun-loving and a bit quirky and mysterious.

The conflict and confrontation between Max and Galien is the central theme and the authors did a seamless job sucking Blue and Katherine into their dispute. Emotions run high throughout the book, quickly changing from anger to sex and then to threats of death, all within a short span of pages, keeping the pace fast and action filled. Add in disposing of several bodies, a kidnapping, a group of human religious fanatics and a vampire who believes he’s the second coming of Jesus and you have all the components for an attention grabbing story.

My only complaint, aside from wanting Galien dead, is the abrupt ending that leaves the reader hanging with a—To Be Continued. When I saw those dreaded words, my jaw dropped and I sucked all the air out of the room with my gasp of “You’ve got to be kidding me!”

Blue understands pack law and his position as an Omega leaves little room for privileges or the ability to escape certain sadistic Betas. His loyalty and respect for the Alpha, Rafe, keeps him in the pack but it will be his feelings for the latest member, Gabriel, that will make him fight for more than the status quo.

Gabriel is Rafe’s newest pet. He has an overwhelming attraction to Blue and soon discovers the feelings are mutual. Blue knows the only way to gain Gabriel and the respect of his pack is to move up in rank by a show of strength. Is he prepared to battle a Beta and stand his ground or is he doomed to live a life as their special chew toy?

Louisa Gough’s The Alpha's Pet takes us into the inner workings of a pack and allows us to watch Blue begin to identify his strengths as he plans for a better life. After Gabriel came on the scene, he took off the veil the Betas maliciously placed over Blue’s eyes. There is so much he never saw in himself until Gabriel more than willingly pointed it out. Rafe is a fair leader who only wants the best for his pack. The few times he interacts with Blue, I could see the care he has for the younger man and understood fully why Blue was so loyal.

There is one scene where shifting is involved that completely took over my senses. I could feel the anticipation of the pack members, as well as the barely controlled energy of everyone present. The story is a great quick read. Pick up a copy and enjoy.

Maxie Briscoe: Werewolf

Title: Maxie Briscoe: Werewolf
Author: Melissa Bradley
Publisher: Amber QuillPublisher

Maxie Briscoe walks a fine line between man and beast, never truly being free. Very few people know what she is and that’s how Maxie intends things to stay. She cannot bear the thought of someone close to her finding out the truth; to see the look of horror in a loved one’s eyes and know they think her a monster is too much for her to take. She thought she could keep her distance, keep control of her life while those around her carried on, blissfully unaware of her sacrifice. Her delicate balancing act comes crashing down the night her friend and neighbor Mary is murdered.

Maxie’s heightened lupine senses are working overtime as she tries to come to terms with her loss and deal with Mary’s grieving family all the while trying to figure out how something like this could happen right under her nose. When Damien and Noah enter her life, just when things turn crazy, she struggles to keep a grip. She’s never met another werewolf, let alone two incredibly hot male werewolves, who seriously bring out the alpha female in her. She’s kidding herself if she thinks she can keep them at bay for long. The thought of truly letting her beast out to play without fear is just too tempting and before long, all three of them have the scars to prove it. Maxie never knew it could be so explosive to really let go, but she better not push the voice of reason away for too long as these guys know more than they are letting on. Maxie may find it difficult letting others into her life but she needs to learn to trust her new lovers fast – her life may depend on it.

Maxie Briscoe: Werewolf is a thrilling story of murder and suspense, with werewolf mythology and shape-shifter sex aplenty. Maxie is a very strong character and I connected with her immediately. She is stubborn and harsh at times; qualities that can turn me off if overdone but with Maxie it is completely understandable. The author laid her bare from the start; showing Maxie’s vulnerabilities and just why she acts the way she does. She isn’t selfish and doesn’t abuse her power, no matter how much her beast begs her to. Her mundane human life plays off well against her werewolf life and the sacrifices she has to make to be able to even have a human life in the first place is an endearing character trait.

The strongest element of this book is the plot. The author does a fantastic job building Maxie’s world and I felt able to walk among it with ease. The mystery surrounding Mary’s murder and the subsequent race to catch the killer is compelling. The introduction of Damien and Noah was more than welcome, as I really felt Maxie’s frustration at having to hold back with human lovers. Although a little heavy on the erotic element at times, the author mostly manages to keep a nice balance between plot and sex. Putting these three werewolves together made for some very hot and steamy scenes, which were a pleasure to read.

Kyler Withers has been plagued by nightmares of his time spent teaching in South America and the tragedy that occurred there. These dreams also trigger his memory of a past life as a mage. Known as Etherwolf, he served as a knight for an evil spirit, known as the Darkness. Now the only thing helping Kyler keep his humanity is the memories of the love he had for a powerful mage artist named Sorin.

Dark Designs is a complex story delving into the religious psyche of humanity. The story exhibits the wars between the faithful, who are capable of love and believe in a powerful spiritual being, versus the darkness that feeds on human fears and evils. Etherwolf was a mage who embraced the darkness; he took pleasure in killing without remorse until he met Sorin. Their sharing of magic brought about changes in Etherwolf. Reborn as Kyler, he realizes the monster he was and resists becoming that being again. Sorin was a mage of the light; they aid humans and kill only when justified. Also reborn, including the love he felt for the dark mage, Sorin is now searching for him, in hopes of them being reunited in body as well as love.

With so many characters, along with their former names and current names, it is a little hard to keep track. However, Luisa Prieto delivers a clear outline of good and evil characteristics that mirror Celtic beliefs, in addition to biblical teachings. Dark Designs is a well written attention-grabbing dark saga, yet still enjoyable once the enigmatic storyline unfurls.

Jesse and Gabriel will have to team up with the ice mage Lazarus and Gabriel’s nemesis Semoriel, if they hope to discover who is behind the recent activities. Four will come together, but three will combine forces and nothing will ever be the same.

Sanctified is the second story in the Spirits of Abaddon series. I had serious doubts that Jesse and Gabriel’s relationship could throw me for a loop but Mychael Black proved me unequivocally wrong in my quick assessment. I wasn’t prepared for the alterations to their relationship, but I was happy with the end result.

Jesse is learning acceptance and evolving every step of the way. He has stepped past being a participant to become a key player in the impending battle. Gabriel has surprised me with his level of patience. Even when the situation sways in a direction he is less than willing to consider, he hasn’t blown his cool and taken everything in stride. It proves that Jesse’s well being is more important than him having his way and I truly like that about his character.

The setting has changed to Gabriel’s home world and while we don’t get an enormous amount of background, it’s enough to set the stage. Action, suspense, duplicity and sensually written erotic scenes are all awaiting you in Sanctified.

Twilight is a mystical time, where wondrous things can happen. Lakota Native Cade Montana is a horse whisperer who manages a small spread in Wyoming. His love of animals has always created a peace in Cade.

Dr. Lee Donaldson remembers vividly the first time they met and his instant attraction to Cade’s strength and ability to tame wild horses. Over time, the men become friends and lovers.

Cade’s introduction into his new abilities makes him sadly aware that there is no room in his life for Lee. The penalty of revealing the truth to an outsider is death and Cade would rather break Lee’s heart than to cause his demise. While Cade plans to keep his distance, Fate has other ideas and won’t allow the lovers to suffer forever.

Carolina Valdez takes us to the picturesque Mountain Valley, Wyoming for a delightful story about love and acceptance. Lee is a good man with a heart filled with love for Cade and the animals he works with. Cade understands horses, and working on the ranch, he knows the dangers of predatory animals first hand. It was hard to side with either man during some of their conflict, because both had valid points. While I could understand Cade’s fear of telling Lee and reluctance to continue with their relationship, I was unsure if being alone was the right decision. Fortunately, part of Cade understood that sometimes you just have to trust the one you love.

Twilight is a well-written story, which encompasses a sound plot, brilliant setting, and fantastic characters that pull you into the thick of things. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and believe those who read this genres will be elated they bought the book.

Theirs is a bond that spans the length of time…

First-year Border Patrol officers Rhys Davis and Liam Malone are part of a triad of best friends. Their small unit, formed since the second grade, has strengthened over time. The hidden desire Rhys and Liam harbor to be more than just simple friends has always been close to the surface for both men. The feelings that pull Rhys and Liam are too complex and coupled with memories of a shared past have the men considering their relationship was destined to be more.

Their first assignment has them on the trail of a Soul-Eater. Do those visions contain the knowledge needed to defeat the being? Will the friendship survive this new level of intimacy?

Deirdre O'Dare’s new release Beyond the Shadows takes us into New Mexico, near the Arizona border. I’ve always loved the brilliant hues of that area and could imagine the breathing Southwest backdrop. This was the perfect area for the story. The magnitude of destruction and havoc promised this would be a spectacular battle, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Rhys and Liam’s bond was established and made taking the next step in their relationship believable and unrushed. Their friendship has a great balance and I could see moments where they drew strength from one another. Their connection was so pure, untainted by lust or desire, and supported by an undying love. Rhys and Liam’s emotions spilled out on every page and I knew there was no way the Soul-Eater could win against their love and devotion to protect not only each other, but those in the Soul-Eater’s path.

Beyond the Shadows has a well-developed plot and mixes dark fantasy with action and suspense to create a fascinating story. I would recommend it to those who enjoy paranormal gay erotica, with a touch of chills and thrills.

Dr. Noemi Gastineau knows Rex and Rion complete her and is ready to build a future with them. Unfortunately, she finds herself trapped in a remote location with no way to return to her lovers. She is unable to feed her succubus and Azrael, the Angel of Death, has orders to end her existence. Will Noemi find a way back to her men before Azrael is able to inflict his lethal blow?

Belinda McBride’s Heaven is the third story in the Bad Angels series. We travel to a few continents in this latest installment, and Ms. McBride transitions to each new location effortlessly. Noemi coped well with all the revelations about her past, and her succubus and angel alter egos. Centuries of abuse, neglect, and loneliness took their toll on Noemi. And while most would have wallowed in pity, Noemi made each experience add strength to her determination and character. Wanting to share her life with Rion and Rex and missing her two lovers was a natural reaction, once you remember the true origin of both men. They make a fantastic ménage and create sizzling sensual scenes in the bedroom.

The ending leads me to believe there is either more to come in the series or there will be a spinoff soon to follow. If you enjoy paranormal romances with action, suspense and passionate erotic encounters, then you don’t want to miss Heaven.
