Sleight of Hand is a beautiful story, with a stunning prose and exquisite imagery. The author’s previous works have not worked for me. But the blurb took me in an instance, and I can guarantee you this is one paranormal story, that will whet your appetite. Reading it at first glance you may find the genre heading in a more historical nature, with the language in general. However I find this all blends together to bring a better twist to a genre that needs some fresh ideas. The character of Marco is both mysterious and hot, whilst Edwin compliments him being the opposite. Ms. Strauss has done a phenomenal job with this story. Her language prevails in this story, and her keen eye for detailing just tops it off. A beautiful read indeed, with a book cover to match the strength of this story.

Zeshin is bright, but doesn’t know how to react to the new man who has become his master. He has conflicting feelings, and I have a feeling his evolution will leave both men gasping for breath. If you enjoyed the Through Neon Eyes series, then you know what to expect. You’ll definitely have to get use to the terminology used throughout the story, but it’s well worth a read.

What Matters Most is an emotional romance with touches of tenderness, bittersweetness, and terrifying memories all rolled into one. The characters are endearing, though I really found myself drawn to Josh’s mother Sarah. Her heartbreak over the events in Josh’s life left me tearing up more than once.

The love between Silas and Josh is sweet and real, and I’m glad they didn’t rush into it. The secrets they each held nearly destroyed them, but in the end, those same things drew them together.

If you’re looking for a satisfying, emotional romance with drama (but not enough that you start growing tired of it), then give What Matters Most a try.

I fall in love with David a little more with each installment of his story with Seth. David is a “glass half full” kind of man. No matter what happens, he knows that Seth is a gift and refuses to consider him a burden. Seth’s story just tugs at my heart with each new piece of information I learn about him. Most would not be sane after living in his shoes. However, his past only helps him appreciate David more and want to protect him. There was a few times where I truly wanted to put him squarely over my knee (and not just for the kink factor). Scars is a wonderful part of Ms. Freely’s touching series. She has created characters that will be hard to forget.

Channeling Morpheus: Rebirth is the final story in a wonderful vampire series by talented author Jordan Castillo Price. Wild Bill isn’t quite the kind of vampire one would envision, but his lifestyle fits him well. Michael is the perfect contrast to Wild Bill’s crass blatant personality, always willing to tangle with the vamp, in and out of bed. Whether they’re sparring verbally or rolling in the sheets, these two sizzle.

I admit I’m sad to see this series end. I’ve loved every book. Yet Ms. Price ended it perfectly. And I know that when I need a good, sexy read, I can always count on this series. This final book brings closure to a wild, sometimes fun, sometimes nerve-wracking, but always sexy ride. Kudos to Ms. Price for memorable characters and a wonderful series.

This series takes us to a time where participating in a gay relationship was a hanging offense, and the reputation of a woman was all that she truly owned. I love the fact that no matter how strong her characters are, they have true human weaknesses that they will have to acknowledge and then overcome. Anne is sweet with a warm personality and a quick wit. Freddy doesn’t allow his wealth to dictate how he treats others. He’s handsome but doesn’t seem to know just how alluring he actually is. Brett’s need of love and acceptance tugs at your heart and makes you want to wrap him in a healing embrace. When you put them together, there isn’t enough fire repellant paper to not feel the heat and flames from their love. I can only guess there are at the least two more stories for this series. Moreover, I plan to be one of the first to read the next story when it’s finally published. This is a fantastic read, which should not be missed.

Santa Please is a cute little festive story, with some light comedy. Whilst the banter between the characters was fun to read, I didn’t have much connection with them and ultimately, I couldn’t care for the characters. However this was a festive story to read during the holidays.

Theolyn Boese never ceases to amaze me when she writes stories for the Ta'e'sha Caesurae series. Shay is strong and fierce, beautiful and dangerous. She loves hard, and will protect her mates with her last drop of blood. Raerei lost his gentle side long ago when he worked as a gladiator. He is just as strong as his mate and makes concessions to ensure her happiness. Not one to share, Raerei will have to either accept Jaed'aden or cause a rift in their relationship. Jaed'aden remembers life prior to being captured, enslaved, and abused. His damaged spirit calls him to trust Shay and Raerei. There are wonderful new characters throughout the book and old favorites back for a quick visit. The relationships forged in The Ta'e'sha Caesurae 2: Crimson Shackles leads me to believe there will be an abundance of stories for this exciting series. I’m looking forward to seeing who will next get bitten by the love bug, and which species of woman is the most ferocious when it comes to protecting those she loves.

Talented author Evangeline Anderson has taken the time honored concept of a fairy godmother and turned it on its ear with her new and entertaining release, Wishful Thinking, Book 1 of The Swann Sister Chronicles. It’s a fun, and often light-hearted paranormal read that kept me reading faster and faster from beginning to end. This story is longer than many e-book releases, but that only gave Ms. Anderson plenty of opportunity to develop well-rounded and interesting characters and situations. The scenes revolving around Phil’s unfortunate wish gone awry and its disastrous aftermath often hand me chuckling aloud, and the dialogue here is priceless. It’s pretty obvious from the beginning that Phil and her jerk fiancé, Christian, aren’t meant to be together while Phil and Josh, on the other hand, are perfect together. When these long-term friends finally get together, it’s sweet, tender, hot and very erotic. Add in enchanting secondary character, especially her sisters and quirky half-fairy grandmother, and you have all the elements needed to the keep the story fast-paced and lively.

I look forward to the next release in this twisted fairy tale series with Cass’s birthday wish. Let the wishes begin!

Selah March’s Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is one of those great crossover books, easily appreciated by both readers of the gay genre as well as ghost stories. The story covers a period of about 36 hours, all of which will keep the reader wondering what will happen next. For those of you that like paranormal/haunting stories you will not want to miss this one.

Chris Morrow has established a voice of his own. Hell’s Reach is a fantastic story about a man and his journey that leads him to find this mysterious hole. The author’s vice rings out in this story with both its humorous and spiritual tone. The character of Walter was enticing, but it was the author’s language and imagery that won me over.

Basilisk Tales Book 1: Dark Descent by Riane Lasair takes us to a futuristic planet where the development of one group has caused the need for two worlds to exist. There is the Aergra world which is above ground, and the Undernegra, a below ground world created by those who no longer could live in Aergra. Fear had separated the people, and while the Undernegra could have perished and given up, they thrived and adapted to their new surroundings. While most believe that Aergra is far more advanced, only residents of Undernegra know if this is reality or fabrication. The two worlds will have to pull together when a mutual enemy means to destroy them all. The gifts of Undernegran empath Vee will come in handy to find the culprits. Teamed with Upperworlder scientists and security personnel, Vee didn’t know what to expect. What he found was a mate in their leader, Brand.

This well-written story has characters with a magnetism that entices you to read further and will have you hoping the story won’t end. Vee is sweet and innocent in some ways, but when the gloves come off; he proves that he truly knows how to handle himself. Brand is handsome and a man of command. He doesn’t know why he is so attracted to Vee, but he plans to discover all of his secrets. Definitely, a story worth reading, and I’m hoping Ms. Lasair will bring us a new chapter in Vee and Brand’s quest very soon.

The reader will enjoy the chemistry between the two men without feeling as though that is all they are getting. I would not have any trouble recommending this story to any reader of the genre.

Cody’s goal to belittle Li in the demon society is accomplished, but Cody discovers that revenge is not so sweet, leaving them both empty and broken.

Shattered Dreams is an excellent example of how misunderstandings can lead to the wrong conclusion. Cody had revealed some of his secrets to Li and thought Li had betrayed him to his brother because Cody was barely able to defend himself when he was attacked. Fear of rejection from Cody kept Li’s truth unspoken, which resulted in Cody leaving and Li bewildered by Cody’s departure. The amazing Mychael Black and Shayne Carmichael deliver the message that silence can be deadly to a relationship and it’s a thin line between love and hate. Shattered Dreams is an impressive and enjoyable story.

At the Sign of the Ancestors is a story of identity, discovery, honesty, sharing and acceptance. Kit’s ancestry has made him the man he is today and he wants Drew to understand that. Drew wants to accept Kit’s life and wishes Kit could be open about his sexuality but can’t comprehend the rich history and traditions behind Kit’s fighting. The characters are warm and likable, dialog flowing easy, but the plot seems laden down with the different themes being explored. The traditions of Muay Thai fighting seem well researched and beautifully described, but after such a good introduction to Kit, his family and ancestry, Drew seems to appear out of nowhere. Perhaps given more time to build up the relationship, reveal how they met and allow their feelings to deepen, the struggle Drew has with trying to accept Kit’s life would have had more impact. As it was, Drew’s change of heart wasn’t really explained in any depth. Despite this though, the style of writing was humorous and enjoyable to read.

I liked watching him interact with Claire and found A Gargoyle For The Hotel Gothica to be an enjoyable story to read. Ellie Moonwater has written a story that includes a bit of action, a touch of romance, a night of immense pleasure, and topped off with some Fae intervention.

What I really enjoyed about this tale was how the author voiced her characters. Eric was so reluctant for change that he came off as ungrateful and annoying. However that was his charm, the fact he annoyed me actually made me like him. Eric had a way to make everything into arguments but Steve was so patient and calm, I thought he deserved some sort of award. The author’s characters in A Touch of Spice are what this story so enjoyable, however the simplicity of the language, and the lack of originality in spicing up their relationship, made this just a comfortable read.

The manner in which Falcon asked Christine to be his and her reaction was comical and cute at the same time. I loved them together and now I am dying for more sexy Sleeper stories.

He promised himself he wouldn’t go down this path again, but when Matt comes to his place with words of apology and a need of his own in his eyes, all other thoughts fly out of his mind. The pair soon pick up where they left off before Matt’s disappearance, much to the chagrin of Dan’s roommates. However, Dan cannot quite get his head around the situation. Matt’s the same loving partner he was before hand, so why can’t Matt open up and share his secrets?

I was captured from the very start of Sleeping Bears Lie, the style of writing drawing me in immediately, intriguing me with little teases of what is to come. Written in Dan’s point of view the whole way through, I really felt as if Dan was speaking directly to me, telling me his story and it made me feel like I had to know the outcome; that I couldn’t stop until I knew exactly what was going on. I really was left guessing right until the end just what Matt’s story was and although the quality of the writing is maintained throughout, it wasn’t quite the satisfying ending I was hoping for. The accident that left Dan’s knee injured is touched upon, but never really explained in any detail. To me these are small quibbles. I was led through Dan’s mind and experienced the warring emotions as he did and thoroughly enjoyed it too.

Adrianna Dane has written a fantastic holiday book. The characters are a joy to read. Vance is heartbroken that his lover has left town without even a goodbye. Dillon is the strong silent type. He has pined for Vance since he laid eyes on him. Both handsome dynamic men deserve to find happiness in a loving relationship. I loved Dillon’s tenacity when he finally decided to go after Vance. Ms. Dane delivers a great love story while throwing in some suspense and action to give the book a wonderful balance. I’ve read a great deal of her books and I’ll have to admit The Messenger has become my favorite.

Fire for Ice was an enjoyable read. It was nice to read a different twist on the forbidden love story. I thought the use of the shared Phoenix and making it something to save both of the characters was a great idea. The sex was good but I was glad it was not the focal point of the story. Great job!

The Runaway has everything I love in a story. The angst of the situation is apparent immediately. The style of writing captured my interest as Miles and Dillon’s pain is revealed. I felt a connection to the characters, felt all the emotion they have been trying so hard to hide come flooding out; emotion that made me care deeply for them. After becoming so invested so quickly, I couldn’t help but feel the story ended quite abruptly. It was less a conclusion and more an interlude, leaving me uncertain as to the future of this couple, although after what the characters have gone through, there won’t be a quick fix. I was slightly confused at times by the supporting characters who are only ever mentioned in conversation by Dillon and Miles. They talk about their fathers and at times I couldn’t keep track of who was who but this didn’t detract from the enjoyment of witnessing the beginning of their healing.

No matter how many years passed between them, the couple’s love was true and lasting. Ms. Johnson has written a wonderful holiday romance that is sure to bring tears and smiles to readers who enjoy the genre.

Her family had been killed in a car wreck a year earlier. Now she has been raped and beaten by an uncle, interested in acquiring her fortune. William Masters is also a murderer and, for now at least, he has fled the country.

Jake is 24 and Devlin is 17 when they meet under these terrible circumstances. Yet their feelings smolder until they are reunited more than four years later. The sex is hot, hot, hot. The trauma of rape evidently did nothing to hinder Devlin’s performance or desire.

Barrett is an excellent writer and easily draws the reader into her plot. Yet the amount of coincidence here is a distraction for me. The emergency room doctor just happened to live next door to the victim years ago. Jake’s scheming ex-girlfriend, Janice, just happens to meet Devlin at the mall. And Janice’s mother just happens...

Devlin is extremely capable and self-sufficient at 22. Everybody has lots of money for last minute plane trips and Jake has lots of comp time he can take from his job. So while I enjoyed the book, much of it just didn’t ring true for me.

Jillian receives a call from her sister asking her go to her apartment to take care of their Mom’s cat because she is going out of town. Sabrina also tells her she will cancel the kidnapping but is unaware that plans have already been placed in motion. As a result, Jillian is now bound and gagged in a dungeon, learning to submit to the man of her dreams who has kidnapped her for Christmas.

Kidnapped for Christmas is very well written and kept the suspense of Jillian’s reactions upfront throughout. I liked that Ms. Anderson went over some of the safety issues regarding BDSM throughout the book and mentioned the danger of not knowing or having a safe word. I could not put this down until I finished it and had to keep fanning myself. .

If these problems weren’t enough, the villain Dessah’s after, and Sophie’s thug ex-boyfriend Brian, have found her and the three are on the run, often only hours ahead of their pursuers. Then there’s the little matter of Dessah’s past connection to drug dealer, Chak Enif. The chase is on to keep one important woman alive, but the question is whether they will survive, or will one of them pay the ultimate price to save the others?

In Alien Arms by author Etienne D’Artagnan has a number of dark undercurrents circulating throughout the plot, giving it the push it needed for our threesome of Dessah, Nevada and Sophie, to be together. What the story didn’t have was enough substance to give the reader a reason to care about what happened to its characters. This wasn’t helped by the use of a first person viewpoint which skipped from one person to the other with each chapter. The constant re-hashing at each viewpoint change was both annoying and distracting, and honestly, if the viewpoint wasn’t listed at the beginning of each chapter, I often wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference between Sophie and Dessah. My biggest disappointment was the unexpected twist involving Nevada that made such a rip in the established threesome plotline, that for me, the story was never able to recover completely. I’m happy to say that I was pleased with the final scene and the promises made between Dessah and Sophie.

Reaction Time has an interesting twist regarding the threats. Ms. Lynne’s description of Nikki’s emotions and turmoil made me feel I was going through this with her. Some parts weren’t always smooth, but you could always follow the storyline.
