Reena (Red) is the leader of the Resistance and has two men after her. Cade is a bounty hunter hired to bring her in by the government and Blade is a black ops assassin assigned to kill her.  Both men realize they can’t go through with their assignments, once they get to know her.

Book five in the Outlaw Lovers series, Resistance, gives the readers a lot of information about the women who are fighting to get their rights back after the Claiming Law went into effect.  There is also a surprising twist toward the end that may have a lot of bearing in the next book about the last Outlaw brother.

This has to be my favorite of the series so far.  Suspense and betrayal abound, along with the very intense chemistry between Cade, Reena, and Blade.  All three learn about themselves, and each other, as they are trapped by a blizzard in a cabin, but misunderstandings soon follow as trust doesn’t come easy to any of them.

Readers learn more about the worst strain of the virus and its effect on women. Reena is also infected, but this knowledge has been kept very quite within the resistance, which makes it a very big surprise to both Cade and Blade, and explains some of her later actions.

Some of the situations they all got involved in were funny, but others were extremely life-threatening.  Secondary characters were introduced during some of these scenarios that helped with the misunderstandings, even if some were unintentional.

Based on some of the references towards the end, I am looking forward to reading about Matt, the last Outlaw brother.  Based on this story, I am sure it will be heart-pounding, and yes, the books need to be read in order.

Tyler has finally been rescued as a prisoner along with his friend Hunter.  When he finds out Laurie has been claimed by his family’s enemies, he and Hunter vow they will get her away from them. What they don’t realize is that Laurie is a member of the Resistance.

The fourth book in the Outlaw Lovers series, Tyler’s Woman, takes the reader on a journey of betrayal, secrecy and suspense.  When Laurie is told Tyler is presumed dead, she joins the Resistance to fight for women’s rights that have been taken away.  The author also gives more information about what happens to women who refuse to be claimed and it is not a pretty picture.  We also learn about a few of the more virulent forms of the virus that the women have.

There are several subplots going on in this story, one about the Resistance and one about trying to bring down the Outlaw enemies.  Several groups are involved in various enterprises that come to a head toward the end of this story.

With the exception of a few, all the secondary characters have shown up in the previous books.  Some turn out to be good friends but there is a lot of betrayal, including one incident involving family.   Relationships are also strained as more is learned about the torture that the prisoners endured if they were captured by a certain prison warden, which includes rape of the male prisoners.

Before the war and advent of the virus, Laurie and Tyler had been together, though Hunter was always around because he was dating Tyler’s sister before she died. The chemistry between Tyler, Laurie and Hunter is scorching. The author did a good job of showing the conflict between the three as Laurie learns about Tyler’s and Hunter’s relationship and how it came about. 

I am looking forward to the next book about the last Outlaw brother.  Readers do need to read this series in order to get the full picture of what is going on.

Colter’s Revenge

Colter wants revenge for the way he perceives Ashley walked away from him during the war, not knowing that her owner was playing sadistic games with both of them.  Ashley wants the cure for one version of the virus and a way to save her daughter.

The third book in the Outlaw Lovers series, Colter’s Revenge, gives more information about the society as they know it after the unleashing of the virus.   One thing disturbed me and made me think about what could happen in China with their one-child policy and that was the practice of selling girls to families that wanted a wife for their sons.  The author created a scenario where the sex of a child could be chosen and girls were the prize babies. So much of these stories could very much become reality.

Ashley and Colter have great chemistry that leads to some very steamy scenes between them and later, Colter’s partner and brother. I did have to laugh at some of the scenes between the two, as they spent some time trying to figure out payback scenarios and then followed through with them. 

Several new secondary characters showed up who definitely did not have anyone’s best interest at heart.  Several were plainly very sadistic and other characters were very likable.  As things progressed, one character ended up having a surprising twist and will probably have a big bearing in the next book.  Readers do need to read the series in order to get the full impact of this new world.

Callie is one of the rare women who are not affected by the virus that killed a lot of women.  She has been in a laboratory, but escaped and is hiding out in the house she and Luke had planned to live in after they were married.  Luke finds her there after he is shot and goes to the house to heal.

The Claiming is the second book in the Outlaw Lovers series and has a lot of suspense.  It also brings almost all the secondary characters back.  More is learned about the Claiming Law in this book as well as the man who invented the virus.  The author threw in a few twists regarding the labs and I hope some of them are resolved in future stories.

Callie and Luke have a lot of chemistry, but Luke knows, unless they want to be on the run, Callie needs to be claimed by himself and his brothers in order to keep her safe.  What could have been a bad experience for Callie was beautifully written by the author. 

The author threw in a surprising end to this story, something I did not see coming.  Additional surprises will have consequences in the future, and I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series.

A virus is killing women and the few survivors have to take a daily shot to survive the new disease. Cate is hiding because she doesn’t want to be claimed under the new Claiming Law that was enacted, due to shortage of women.  Jude finds her after returning home from war.

The first book in the Outlaw Lovers series, Jude Outlaw, starts with Cate trying to escape after Jude finds her.  The two have some heavy chemistry, but she doesn’t want to be anyone’s wife if it means having to have more than one husband.  What scares her is the provision that allows others to file a claim within a certain time period after the initial claim is filed.

The author created a very interesting scenario where terrorists decided women needed to be submissive to men.  Once the virus was released, women basically became chattel again and women went into hiding to try to avoid being claimed.  There are so many possibilities that crossed my mind, in light of new diseases making appearances today, about how many could be manmade.   

There are several secondary characters that are not very likable as part of the subplot in the storyline that also effect Jude’s brothers. There are is a lot of love and betrayal within this book, but there are also some interesting scenes between Jude and Cate.  The ending is interesting as it can set up a very bad scenario in the future.
