Alien Salvation

Lindsey and her parents went into hiding once her sister became the Kalquorian Empress. They are barely surviving after the nuclear holocaust when Bacoj, Japohn and Vax crash on the planet.

Alien Salvation is the fourth book in the Clans of Kalquor series and picks up several months after the leaders on Earth decided to explode nuclear bombs as Earth was invaded.  The survivors are barely hanging on.  The author is very descriptive about what is going on as people try to survive.

Lindsey approaches the Kalquorians to make a trade for food because she and her parents are barely surviving.  After a deal is struck, Lindsey gets to know them and the four decide to become a clan.  Because of who Lindsey is, the men make a decision that could have some extreme consequences.

The author did a good job showing the emotional impact that decision had on the whole family.  I had to laugh about Empress Jessica’s reactions when she found out about it, as it seems she has quite a temper.  While there were some secondary characters, the story revolved around Lindsey, Bacoj, Japohn and Vax, as well as Lindsey’s parents.  I loved the mother’s reactions about the deference she was given as Jessica’s mother.

I really enjoy reading this series and will be reading it again, as well as the next book.  This book has been revised and re-released after being published before by a different publisher.  The purchase link is for Amazon as the book is not available through the publisher in the United States, but is available through them outside.

Delaney is having dreams again about Jaden, her stepbrother.  Jaden and others are on their way to ask her to help them become human.  What will Delaney give to love Jaden for the rest of her life?

Carnal Sacrifice is an extremely hot story that has a very different legend about how vampires become human.  It involves a very carnal sexual sacrifice where the lady could lose her life during the ceremony.  The problem is that Jaden’s mother, Val, is against it and has a grudge against Delaney.

In an Incan temple where Delaney and Jaden take shelter, Jaden talks with Delaney about what she will go through with five vampires taking her in every possible way.  In addition, she will be representing all the Incan women that were sacrificed in the old days to the god of the temple.  She also learns that there are a lot of vampires waiting to be human, instead of losing themselves to their internal demon when they turn around a thousand years old.

Be prepared for some extremely hot and sexy scenes with various combinations of positions and bondage. I loved the descriptions of the men, and then the women vampires that helped Delaney prepare for the actual ceremony.  There are lots of spiritual aspects to the ceremony.

In the meantime, Val is doing her best to stop the ceremony.  Other characters in the story help Delaney, but she also learns a lot about the history of the women that were sacrificed in the past.  I loved the way the story ended.

There are a few things that some readers may not like because it would probably be taboo, such as Delaney and Jaden being step-siblings due to Val’s marriage to Delaney’s father.  The idea of having sex with five men on an alter, in addition to being restrained, may also be a trigger for some.  I will be reading this story again.  Carnal Sacrifice is an intense love story between two people that want a life together.

Pack’s Broken Heart

Owen has to move and find another pack, but is asked by his cousin’s pack to help a neighboring pack when their sheriff, and later their Alpha, is murdered.  Suzanne also goes to help the sheriff’s office as a deputy.  Once there, the two are attracted to Tom, another deputy.

Pack’s Broken Heart is the second book in the Western Wolves series and picks up a few months after Pack Rescue ends.  Pack’s Broken Heart also gives an in-depth look at how a pack operates, what some of the responsibilities are for an alpha and what can happen when a pack’s leadership is depleted.  I liked this book as it also shows Owen in a different light and how he evolves into a leader, even as he wants nothing to do with a leadership role.

Suzanne and Owen butt heads a lot even though they are attracted to each other.  They get together during a pack run along with Tom. The three have a lot of chemistry together and I liked the way the relationship evolves between the three and how the men come to accept their relationship even though they have never been attracted to men in the past.  The author did a good job in dealing with some of issues.

The various secondary characters are interesting and I was surprised by who the culprits were.  The author did a good job building the suspense as there were some twists.  The handling of one problem was an interesting resolution and I can see more stories coming from that particular thread.

I am looking forward to more in this series.  While readers can read Pack’s Broken Heart by itself, I recommend the series be read in order.

Publisher’s Note: Previously published elsewhere under the title Breakdown of a Pack.

The Rylon brothers are tired of waiting for Mustang.  Mustang is afraid of losing her ranch to them, even though she loves the three of them.  Mustang also has to get over feeling that she is wrong to love them all.

The third installment of The Service Club series, Operation Mustang, had me laughing at the interaction of the brothers and Mustang.  Diek and Gunner are SEALs, while Lucky is the ranch’s vet.  The author also continues the threat from Melissa’s Rights into this story.  The reaction of the men was priceless once they realized someone had gotten past them and that someone was after Mustang. I was a little surprised at the ending though, as I thought this thread would continue for a little longer.

I liked that the author took pains to show that men can respect a strong woman that knows herself and that they weren’t afraid of women that stood their ground.  The chemistry between the four will scorch the pages.

The Service Club is made up of men that make their living in public service of some type.  I was surprised by the relationships that all the members seem to have.  All of them are extremely protective of the women each group of men end up claiming.

This series should be read in order to get a better understanding of some of the dynamics between the members.  I will be reading this series again, and I am waiting to read more about some of the members that appeared in this book.

Evelyn is asked by Trevellyan, Merrick and Vaughan to help them determine whether Trevellyan’s cousin, Aurelia, is okay, since they haven’t heard from her since she started her new job.  Evelyn gets help from some of her friends, once they determine that Aurelia and others are basically slave labor.

The first book in the Freedom be Damned series, Enslaved, has a story that is all too true today.  There are scams that target those that have had trouble finding jobs and end up being desperate.  This particular one had an interesting twist to it.

Trevellyan, Merrick and Vaughan are a threesome, but they like to share an occasional woman and all three fall for Evelyn.  The heat factor between the four is hot.  I had to laugh at some of the antics the three men did amongst themselves, as well as once they added Evelyn to the mix.

The friends that Evelyn has are some interesting characters and we will be sure to see them in a future book.  The things they do to help the men were interesting and showed how technology is used to combat scams. I am looking forward to seeing how this particular scam is ultimately resolved.

Athena only let her father have his way when he threatens to disown her and keep her from seeing her mother if she refuses to sign the contract for her training.  She goes with the trainer, Barik, whom her father has hired to teach her the Elecian women’s customs in regards to what is expected of them once they marry.

In Training is a very intense BDSM, multi-partner book that showcases a society whose marriages revolve around structured sexual mores.  The history and the evolution of women are given and you understand why they did this.  Athena questions this and wants to be more than a ‘sexual slave’.  Barik and his two friends are very adamant about her training, but they are also surprised at Athena’s reaction to it.

I was still a little surprised by the ending, though there were clues about where Athena’s and Barik’s relationship was headed.  Be aware that the sex scenes are very intense and some of them are hardcore BDSM, as well.  This is one I will be reading again.

Zoe has been raised with wealth and uses it to get her mates.  She ends up rescuing seventeen more clones, or blenders.

The seventh installment of the Four Ever More series shows how some people think of the clones.  In Take Me Hard, the three men were captured and placed in a collection, with the collector stating he was going to look for, and capture, the other clone sets.

This particular set is lions.  We learn a little more about the clones than we first learned about in Come to Me.  Different types of clones/blenders are introduced in this story, which has an interesting bearing on Zoe’s world.  The differences between these clones and the Lion set is very clear legally.  It was interesting that the others were all considered property and had to be bought to ensure they became free.

Each book in the series introduces different planetary worlds and their customs.  This book intrigued me because Zoe was actually tera-forming a planet her parents had given her.  The detail the author gives lets you see the planet in your mind and you can envision it growing as more people colonize it.  So far this happens to be my favorite.

While you can read the books in this series by themselves, you will get much more enjoyment if you read them all.

Raeda stopped on the planet Kenvin to get fuel for her ship, never dreaming she would be knocked out and put up for sale.  Dorn, Taro, and Renner receive a message that she is there and they are not happy that they weren’t informed before she was taken to auction.

The sixth installment of the Four Ever More series, Take Me Now, brings us to a world that has an extreme shortage of women.  Any unattached woman is taken to auction to become the wife of one of the men on the planet.  I liked how Raeda is trying to change the way the women are auctioned off because it makes sense if you have to have this kind of society.

I did have to laugh at how quickly the auctioneers changed their tune when they realized Raeda belonged to the wolf lawmen.  I was surprised about how Raeda actually got to the auction, as it was unexpected.

Each book in this series has an interesting twist to each of the clone sets.  The way the author has created such a variety of worlds and clones is interesting to read about.  I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Nisa has been raised by priests who found her after her parents were killed.  Prio, Raz, and Watt are the new law-enforcers for the planet.  Once the men see Nisa, they agree to the rules the priests lay down before they will get their bride.

The eighth book of the Four Ever More series, Take Me Fast, is about another set of clones that find each other.  The author created another interesting world. The priests that raised Nisa also let us get a look at some prejudices against the clones since their particular abbey was affected by them.  I also had to laugh at some of the priests as they had a great sense of humor at times.

The scenario that resulted in Nisa meeting her men was cute.  The description of some of the looks Nisa received is so true regardless of how women dress, even in official capacities.  It was also nice to see that gender had no role in officiating weddings.

There are still more matched clones sets that will be showing up in this series and I am looking forward to seeing, not only what they are, but how they meet.

Ingrid is blackmailed by her boss to attend the meeting at Falstaff Manor.  She is accompanied by another agent from the League for the Preservation of Humanity, unaware she has also been targeted for assassination.  Prince Adrian realizes she is his mate and also part of a prophecy that has been foretold regarding the paranormal community.

The fourth book in The Hellfire Club series, Protégé is slightly different than the others, as we learn more about the League for the Preservation of Humanity and some of the other paranormal races.  Ingrid feels very out-of-place, even though Adrian tries to make her feel very comfortable.  One thing that comes out in this series is that part of the tests for the Royal Mates is how they handle the sexual aspect of the club.  The author also explained more about the handmaidens, as well.

Some of the characters from the other books make an appearance, as there is a very strict ritual, as well as rules for conduct, among this group.  There is also a noticeable caste system within all members.  I found it interesting that the money bid on the handmaidens actually goes to them so that if they leave Falstaff Manor, they can do as they please.  Of course, there is the clash of cultures, as humans have to learn to adapt to the dominance of the Royals.

I actually liked this story the best in this series and am looking forward to reading about the rest of the Royals and the Counsel of Seven as the battle for survival begins.

Sophia is finally going to marry Ian. Thinking she is just going to be in the background while Ian continues his relationship with Derek, she learns that both men want her as their wife in a triad relationship.

At Love’s Command is the fourth installment of Ms. Kane’s Brothers In Arms series and finally resolves a subplot from the previous books.  I was a little surprised by that as I could see where this particular thread could be woven throughout the entire series.  Be aware that Sophia’s father beat her and her brother raped her, so be prepared as you read. I could understand both Ian’s and Derek’s reaction when they found out.

The emotions that go through this book are intense as Sophia and Derek try to come to terms with the relationship that Ian wants between all of them.  I liked the way the author showed the emotions and misgivings that the two had about each other.  As the story progresses, we see more of the relationships with the secondary characters as they help with a crisis that evolves after some revelations and threats.

The author has an understanding of the PTSD issues that soldiers experience.  I liked the way she handled some of the nightmares, though that solution might not work for a lot of soldiers.  She slowly reveals a bit of each characters background of their military service.  I am enjoying the twists that come with each story.

Candace decides she wants to be tied up for her and Ryan’s anniversary, but knows that Richard along with his wife, Fallon, will have to teach him.  What follows starts a chain of events that both men have to learn to like.

Four of Hearts is a story about friends slowly gravitating toward a polyamorous relationship.  In the fourth installment of the Lothario series, the reader takes an interesting and intense journey as Fallon, Candace, Ryan and Richard learn to let go and explore their feelings for each other.  The angst that the four go through as they struggle to finally define their relationship is so true.  I loved the ceremony at the end of the book so much that I actually started to cry. The description by the author made you think you were actually there watching.

There is a subplot that is carried throughout each book, but still isn’t quite resolved by the end of this one.  I’m hoping that the next book will be about Drew and Bree, as well as resolving the mystery of who is trying to ruin Ryan and Richard.  We know who wants to buy the Lothario, but it is very unclear if he is actually behind everything, which keeps the reader on their toes. I still like the concept that the author created with the ship’s theme.  This comes through very well in each story.  Each book adds to your knowledge of what is on the ship that is available to passengers and crew alike.

I recommend that you read the entire series if you want to get the full effect of Ryan and Candace’s relationship as well as Richard and Fallon’s relationship.

Marta returns to Savage Valley after the publisher of her book folds.  She meets Sam, Phil and Mel while there and wonders why she is attracted to all three brothers.

Taste of Pride is the second book in The Pride of Savage Valley, Colorado series about the lion-shifters series.  The common theme of NormCorp trying to get a foothold in Savage Valley sees more businesses being approached to sell and family dynamics almost sees a family torn apart, as well as a community.  More about the shifter society and legend are revealed in this book, as well.

The author did a good job showing how misunderstandings and jealousies within families can cause estrangements and how it can keep families apart.  I did like the way she showed how siblings can overcome feelings and seek to work together for the betterment of the family.

Some of the secondary characters in this story are fun loving.  There are some very serious moments as well and the reader will enjoy some of the quirkiness of some of the personalities you meet.  I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the shifter families in future books.

After years of managing her sister’s career, Michelle decides the time has come to take care of herself.  She meets three handsome doctors in Savage Valley that decide she is theirs.

The second book in the Rugged Savage Valley, Colorado series, Rugged Return, is just as intense as the rest of the two concurrent series about Savage Valley.  When siblings work together and one is extremely spoiled, jealousies and resentment is sure to follow.  Michelle’s sister is a singer who is extremely manipulative and I know people just like her.  As resentment on both parts comes to a head, Elias, Thomas and Franklin do their best to help Michelle realize she comes first to them.

As Michelle struggles to understand her feelings for the three brothers, NormCorp plans to shatter the peace of the town by forcing Savage Valley to sell the land for development of a resort.  The struggle that communities have trying to hold on their way of life, in light of developments, is not new and the author reflects on some of the more sordid practices we sometimes hear about.

The relationship that Michelle has with Elias, Thomas, and Franklin is intense.  The fact that there are people she can talk to, other than the brothers, bring characters from the lion-shifter series in as secondary characters, making it a must to read both series concurrently.  I am waiting with baited breath to see if Michelle’s sister shows up in a future story as I wait for the next story about the bear-shifters.

For the Love of Anna

Title:  For the Love of Anna

Anna is running for her life after mobsters beat her up and tried to take her, in lieu of her father’s debt.  Once she arrives at the Triple C ranch, she meets Wyatt, Charlie and Ben.

For the Love of Anna is the first book in The Town of Pearl series.  There is a lot of angst on Anna’s part because she had to be the adult in the family after her mom got sick and died.  The realization that you have been betrayed by a family member would be devastating, for most people.  It sort of sets you adrift and keeps you questioning your worth.  This comes through very clearly in the story.

Anna’s friendship with her friend, Stacy, very clearly gives Anna someone to confide in and use as a sounding board, which is what she needs.  The way the author showed how Anna, Wyatt, Charlie and Ben learned about each other is wonderful because it shows a transformation taking place within Anna.  The scenes between Anna and the men, as a group or individually, burn up the pages so keep plenty of ice or fans on hand.

The secondary characters, which include the men’s cousins, add a lot to the story and I would like to learn more about Stacy and her relationship.  I am looking forward to reading the next book and will be reading this one again.

The world is in love with pop icon Cyprus Reid.  Her siren’s voice and graceful beauty keeps her in the spotlight with her five male escorts. Cyprus’ fans are clueless about her true identity and the horrors in her past.   Each performance brings Cyprus closer to completing her coven and taking back all that was stolen from her.  After all these years Cyprus will get revenge on those who wronged her and nothing will stop her.

For months, Jason Giles has been following his instincts and it’s about to pay off.   Posing as head of hotel security has allowed him the perfect opportunity to get close to his target, Cyprus.  Regardless of her beauty and talent, Jason knows Cyprus is a cold- blooded killer and he intends to expose her.   After infiltrating Cyprus’ coven, Jason is more confused than ever.  His discoveries cause him uneasy feelings about completing his assignment.  Jason’s attraction to Cyprus and the bond with her coven changes everything.

Cyprus and her associates are not fond of humans.  Considering the damage humans caused their family, I can’t say I blame them.  Even though Cyprus is a powerful being, she’s still a woman who wants things any average woman would want.  Having that dream ripped away could have destroyed her, but it didn’t.  At first, I admit I sided with Jason.  Jason isn’t as smart as he thinks because Cyprus knows he’s really there to spy, not to protect her.  After obtaining more information about who hired him to bring down Cyprus, Jason isn’t sure he is protecting the right person.  Not only does he help to see that justice is served, Jason helps Cyprus complete her coven.  Jason also gains unexpected information about himself.  The story ends with a tragedy that’s really a happy ending.  Cyprus and her coven are able to disappear from the spotlight and return to the life they were meant to have.

The Coven is a mysterious read with several layers that I enjoyed watching unfold.  Each revelation brings a different question and makes me curious about each member of Cyprus’ coven.  The men are all so different, yet their union works.  I think readers will be even more curious about Cyprus, just as I am.  I was surprised by some of her attributes, I have to admit.  Timing is everything and Stephanie Burke has excellent timing when building suspense in her scenes.  There is plenty of action and sexual encounters to keep you on the edge of your seat and curious for more.

When Anna was a firefighter, she was burned after a falling in a burning building.  Blake, Ryder and Tucker are looking for her, not realizing she is at Blake’s aunt’s house.

Healing in Paradise is the tenth book in the Paradise series.  While each adds some history about the town and its shifters, this particular story line is dealing with siblings finding their way back home after an internal struggle with two factions in the community.  The author shows a lot of insight into the guilt and struggles siblings have when they are separated at an age that they remember, but don’t know where their siblings are. There are definitely some abandonment issues that all seem to have.

I actually enjoyed this story a bit more than some of the previous ones because I felt the author created a more realistic feel to Anna’s life.   I also had to laugh at the picture Ms. Xander created about Blake’s aunt as I actually have an aunt that is fairly eccentric.  One point toward the end did mar the story as Anna was confused for her twin, though the four were actually going through the mating process.   I am looking forward to reading about the fourth sister in the future.

Since Bree started working at the Red Light Lingerie, she has fantasized about her boss, Max. Max asks Bree to stay and model some new lingerie that a friend has designed. What happens once morning arrives?

Ms. Evans created a very sexy story that will keep your heart pounding. Lust, Lace & Lingerie is steamy to the core. The angst Max has about being attracted to Bree is tinged with guilt over what happened to his late wife. The author portrayed Max’s emotions so clearly.

As the book progressed, you are introduced to Max’s friend, who helped him seduce Bree, and Garrett’s wife, Karen. This book was a little different from other ménage stories, because this was about couples that swing. The questions that Bree had are probably what all of us might ask about our job and relationship. The author brought you into the story emotionally as well as keeping your heart going. This should be on every BDSM and ménage lover’s bookshelf to be read again.

Xefir, Artur, and Naedar arrive on Worrik looking for their mate. Reesha has gone on vacation because she needs to recharge by being alone. Reesha doesn’t know when her mates may find her so she unaware that the men have arrived. During a storm, the men stop to help due to the damage to her house.

Take Me On is the fifth book in the Four Ever More series and had an added twist this time. While there was not as much drama and suspense in this story, the fact that the clones, or blenders, are shape-shifters made for an interesting take about the clones. The race that contributed the dragon genes were looking at this set as an experiment to see how they turned out. I was left wondering whether the children would have the dominant dragon genes.

Each book in this series can be read alone, though I think the reader will get more information about the clone sets if they read the books in order, as interesting tidbits show up unexpectedly.

She was once known as the Duchess of Wyre, when she held the Queen’s highest confidence and used her scientific expertise and technological inventions to keep the Queen’s royal heart beating. But afraid her inventions would be used to commit terrible atrocities, Charlotte arranged, with the help of the infamous assassin, Lord Sigmund Regret, to fake her own death and then ran for her life.

She spent the next seven years hiding in the Americus colony, trying to stay under the radar of the Queen’s bounty hunters. Her life is further complicated by her relationship with Lord Regret, who’s kept alive by her nanotechnology and Sheriff Gilead Masters. Both men want her and neither wants to share.

Her life spirals out of control when the Americus planetary colony declares its independence and hunters arrive to take Charlotte back to the Queen. Tired of hiding and living without the luxuries she grew up with, she sends a pointed message to the Queen and court. Leave her alone or suffer the consequences. Now, in addition to trying to outrun the Queen’s anger, she needs to keep her men alive and make sure they don’t kill each other.

Lady Doctor Wyre is the first release in Joely Sue Burkhart’s new series A Jane Austen Space Opera and it’s the first book by this author I’ve had the pleasure of reading. I’m totally impressed with the extensive and complicated world-building in this quasi-steampunk, alternative history, sci-fi/futuristic gem. I know. It’s hard to believe but Ms. Burkhart managed to create a story that easily fits into all of these genres without a problem, because there are elements of all blended seamlessly into the cohesive whole.

I can’t say enough good things about the originality of her characters or the depth of their personalities. There’s nothing bland or predictable about any of them. They’re all interesting and intriguing, making you want to know more about their history and what makes them tick. While there’s a great deal of action and political wrangling going on in this story as Charlotte, Lord Regret and Gilead try to survive, there’s also a good deal of high emotions – desire, passion and blistering hot sex. These two men are as different as different can be, making for some interesting encounters. Lady Doctor Wyre is a good mix of all these components, making for a fast paced and well balanced read.

I don’t know when to expect the next release in this new and intriguing series, but you can bet I’ll be watching for it. Read and enjoy!!
