You know there’s love there and a desire to rekindle a flame, but there’s also a power play at hand. However, when everything was said and done you understood exactly what happened with the couple, and couldn’t help but be happy they finally laid all their cards out on the table. As always, Ms. Okati has written a story that keeps your mind in constant motion as much as your libido. I have to admit I am a bit savvier when it comes to asking for drinks, thanks to this book. If you enjoy Ms. Okati’s previous books, you are in for a treat.

Polar Reaction is an emotionally stimulating love story. Brendan has lived in denial of his sexuality, never admitting that his year-long attraction for Tuck was more than a comfortable friendship. Tuck knows what he feels for Brendan but he is afraid of losing him, so Tuck did not approach Brendan in an intimate manner before now. With his focus on Brendan, Tuck is surprised to discover that he cares for Jamie, also. Jamie is sensitive of the struggles Brendan is going through and he realizes he cares for both men, so he does everything in his power to keep the three of them together. Claire Thompson has created a superb, well written tale that illustrates three men equal in a devoted and compassionate relationship. Polar Reaction is an impressive saga that I enjoyed immensely.

One night when Jake goes over to check on Dana, he finds her and Mason in the backyard. Dana invites him to play with them and their threesome becomes a Friday night date each week.

Dana ends up pregnant and both Jake and Dana look forward to having this baby. Later, Dana ends up losing the baby, due to circumstances beyond her control. Dana withdraws and tries not to feel anything. Jake is hurt that she is shutting him out as he feels the loss, also. Jake and Dana nearly destroy their relationship in the aftermath.

Playing for Keeps is a good book. It is very emotional and requires keeping tissues handy. You can feel Jake’s turmoil about the ménage and then later about losing the baby. Dana’s emotions weren’t as clear to see. Some of the ménage scenes seemed to lack some heat, but it picked up with Jake and Dana’s reactions to each other. I also appreciated Ms. Walker’s personal blurb after the end explaining how the book evolved.

Krystal and Sam didn’t know where the brakes were in Wanting Sam. These two were like perpetual bunny rabbits, feeling the need to touch and be touched. Sam isn’t the average type of man Krystal would have been attracted to, and I’m happy she didn’t waste the time fighting the attraction. I found Wanting Sam enjoyable to read, and recommend it to those who enjoy interracial love stories.

Lucian is a vampire who knows how to sweep a woman off her feet, and his is a story that must be shared.

This is my first book by Anne Thomas, but it sure won’t be my last.

Britt’s watched from the sidelines as men have come and gone from Victoria’s room. He was beginning to think that he couldn’t save Victoria from the life she was determined to lead. He had gone so far as to promise commitment to another, but Victoria was never far from his thoughts. When a lost soul turns up on her doorstep, Victoria has no choice but give them shelter. The effect this stranger has on Victoria makes Britt believe that not all hope is lost but he has to act fast.

Fantasy Mountain was an enjoyable read with very interesting characters. The author was successful in bringing out a range of emotions in me; I felt the pain Victoria has had to endure, the frustration Britt feels as he watches and the intense desire they have for each other. Their inability to communicate their true feelings drove me crazy at times but these characters are far from perfect so mistakes are inevitable.

There is a lot going on in this story and I feel the author may have packed too much drama into it. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, something or someone else would spring up to add to the pair’s woes. If it wasn’t a jealous ex of Britt’s, it was the unwanted attention of both men and women causing Victoria trouble. There always seemed to be something to get in the way of the story concluding. Also, Britt was a very possessive character and the author pushed me to my limits in accepting his behavior at times. That being said, if you like drama that just keeps on coming, I recommend Fantasy Mountain. There is an underlying plot that drove me to want to finish the story and see the characters find closure.

Kayelle Allen grabbed my attention with a previous book containing Luc’s character, and I’m ecstatic to revisit the characters that enticed me so long ago. Luc is a complex man, but simple at the same time. Complex, because of all the secrets he keeps, the levels he allows others to exist in his realm and his knowledge of sex. Simple, because if you strip away the power, the immortality, and the body to die for, Luc is a simple man with a deep desire for love and acceptance for whom he is and not what he possesses. To gain entry to a level where you are privy to his heart says something about the person who occupies the space and Rah is no ordinary Kin. Rah’s handicaps are not weaknesses. They have allowed him to sharpen his skills at perception and make Rah a better person. I truly believe out of all the lovers I’ve seen Luc with, Rah is the one sent by whatever God grants love and happiness. He’s Luc’s gift for the times over the thousands of years where Luc was suffering or lonely. I absolutely loved this first book of the Surrender Trilogy, and I can’t wait to see where Ms. Allen is going to take us next. Surrender Love is a fantastic book, so if you are new to Luc or are an old fan, you truly won’t be disappointed.

Playing Dirty is the second release in G.A. Hauser’s new and ongoing Action! series and this one takes up shortly after the previous book left off. Carl and Keith are just as fun, sexy and in love as ever. That doesn’t stop them from being bombarded from all sides to either confirm or deny their personal, intimate relationship. It doesn’t matter that their involvement is consensual and private. It’s the perception and fear that their relationship invokes in the wealthy business powerhouses of the film industry that is causing the threat to their careers and stress to their lives. The sad fact is that many couples, in the real world, struggle with similar difficulties, which makes this a tale individuals from all walks of life can relate to and commiserate with.

The secondary characters from Acting Naughty and other books by Ms. Hauser are nicely placed within the plot, giving the story a sense of continuity and familiarity. The character that really shines in this story is Charlotte, with her pushy, ‘I’m always right’ attitude. Even though she was more than a little annoying at times, I still couldn’t help but like her, as did Carl and Keith. What I would have liked was some kind of resolution of the homophobic hostilities between Keith and his family. I loved the ending of this tale and have great hopes of seeing more of Carl and Keith in upcoming releases.

Moving into isolation in his family cabin high in the Rocky Mountains, he does his best to keep track of his symptoms. Unable to remember the information that would be most useful, he grows frustrated.

A scent coming through his open window on a breeze triggers Kols primal lust. Standing in front of that window to get the full scent he gives himself, much needed release, only to be interrupted by the perimeter alarm on his truck.

Kol and Zoia come together in mind numbing stranger heat, bonding instantly. Will this bond help them to figure out what’s going on with Kol? On the other hand, will Zoia’s secret of being a private investigator and not Photographer of Nocturnal animals be the downfall of their budding relationship?

The characters Kol and Zoia grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go. I was entranced in the story. If you love shape shifters and beautiful woman with big secrets, then you will love Night Prowlers by Layla Chase.

She happens to know the kind of poison used, and can heal the injured brother.

This Archangels series continues with the wars being waged between Heaven and Hell, where requesting assistance from the Elves and asking the Powers to choose sides, will come in to play regardless of likes and dislikes. Instead of getting back to protecting the humans on Earth, the Archangels find themselves fighting to save their lives and the lives of their children from the justice angels and demons alike. A powerful demon is seeking one child, Ariel, who will have greater powers than most of the angel warriors. Ariel is a toddler able to mind speak with her family and knows more than she is telling her parents, Appolion and Ana.

There are times when I laughed at the descriptions of the way the females are dressed, or the comments made by the groups in general. Even with the seriousness of being hunted, killed or changed into demons, they still find love amongst themselves and mate for life. Bear Lehor is attacked, and it will take the strong psychic connection between Cam and Bear and the help of their mother to bring him back from the dark void. Bear is invaded by a very strong demon and has to fight for control. He will need the help of the Fairies to extract it from his body completely.

Angelic Redemption is the continuing story about the Archangels fighting for one of their own, and others who come into their flock. The Lehor’s and Raphael’s parents getting involved proves that the loyalties are shifting. There is still the fact that the Council will have to be dealt with, since Jehel, the head member, still wants total control of everyone.

Stephani Hecht has my total attention with this series. When you read this book, it will keep your attention until the end. You continue to the next one knowing it will reveal more about their leader. The characters complement each other with their antics, love, and sarcastic comments. There was never a dull moment while reading, and I am looking forward to what will happen next.

Accessibility Beta by Kil Kenny (4 Nymphs)
JJ meets the stunning and gorgeous Tory, a senior salesman in the company they work. JJ has a one-night stand with Tory, which leads to Tory thinking there is more that could be had with the other man. But JJ battles with his own emotions and demons in this tense tale.
Accessibility Beta has a lot of back story on the jobs both JJ and Tory carry out. Whilst some may find this aspect intrusive to the relationship aspect; I found the detailing both well-researched and fascinating. Sometimes I did feel the author delved too much in the character’s location. JJ is a confusing character, and he takes his merry time to make up his mind in this story. However his emotions were portrayed realistically in my eyes. Tory is such a unique character and like JJ I was drawn to him. The erotic nature of this story was superb – it’s been a long while since I’ve truly enjoyed the erotic aspect of a story, and I think it has more to do with the meaning behind the scene itself, that made the overall enjoyment that much higher. Accessibility Beta is a great contribution to the anthology.

Just Business by James Buchanan (5 Nymphs)
Treat has been in a slump ever since his girlfriend left him. So when he meets Zeal by chance, the man leaves a lingering impression on him. But unable to make a move, Treat finds himself in the arms of another man (or so he thinks) – but his thoughts are never far from Zeal’s.
I don’t know who picked the stories for this anthology, but they picked another scorching one here. I don’t like to continually emphasise about the sexual aspect of a story, because a story should be so much more than the sex. But dear me, Just Business had me fanning myself, another superb erotic scene that had meaning and relevance. I have to admit the characters names made me giggle. It took me awhile to get my head around the names such as ‘Treat’ and ‘Zeal’ because it made my mind go to a sci-fi setting. The characters were excellent and the premise lovely and well-executed. There was a lot of passion and tension in this wonderful story. The sexiness these characters eluded, just makes me want to read more about them – and the great thing about the way this story is written, is it starts as a beginning, which can lead into more stories about Treat and Zeal. Or so one could only hope.

Wunderkind by Zoe Nichols (3.5 Nymphs)
Vincent is the CEO of a large textbook manufacture and a workaholic. He hires JD to help design a CD-ROM but both men fall into a lustful trap. Vincent makes it clear this is only a fling, but JD does the unexpected and falls for his boss. Whilst JD’s sexual life is getting complicated, his home life is getting worse. But will Vincent be there for him when the cards fall down?
Wunderkind took awhile to get into the story; I didn’t warm up to the characters immediately as they didn’t leap of the ‘pages’ for me. Though the good thing about this story is there is a lot of angst and heartache. I didn’t necessarily believe in Vincent’s and JD’s relationship in this story. The ending confused me, and it was just too neatly tied in the end.

When the Cat’s Away by CB Potts (3.5 Nymphs)
Brad has been propositioned by his boss; become his willing whore or lose his job. So Bradley does what he has to do. But when his boss becomes dangerous and violent, Morgan the janitor is on hand to save Bradley.
A very uncomfortable read describes When the Cat’s Away. There is a lot of humiliation that Bradley faces in this story, but the author handles it well. The story moves at a fast pace and there isn’t a word wasted. The ending was a surprise but it was also refreshing.

Fringe Benefits is a very good anthology, filled with steamy and original storytelling. All the stories held a unique out look at the anthologies theme at hand, and the author’s did a wonderful job complying that into their stories.

Then add a British playboy by the name of Alex Parker to the list of players, and it’s no wonder Davis will have to hope for a bit of Self Preservation for his heart, his mind, and if Alex has anything to do with it, his body.

Ethan Day knows how to put a reader on an emotional roller coaster ride and by the end of the book, have you not caring that you left your heart at the top of a loop. The characters are fantastic. Davis is sweet, funny, and handsome. Jack is talented and loving. Tadd, Jack’s fiancé, is everything you would hate for you ex to find in the next man, he’s bloody perfect. Then there is Alex, a man who runs from the word “commitment” faster than any sprinter I’ve ever seen on a track. Deseree is a peach, and Jack’s mom is the type of mom every gay man would wish for his own. Honestly, each character completes this story and brings it life. There were moments where I wanted to bundle Davis up and protect his heart, but I knew the road he traveled down was important and would be life-altering. The trip gave Davis exactly what he wanted but very little of what he expected. I’m looking forward to reading more of Mr. Day’s novels. The humor, setting and complexity of the relationships are entertaining and grasp your attention until the final sentence. If I’m fortunate, Mr. Day will have a short story about Deseree in the near future. One could only hope.

It is obvious from the moment they meet that Meg and Brad have serious chemistry so it’s only a matter of time before they act on it. Meg is new to this but her body is on fire at the thought of Brad and Shane; both men treat her with a great deal of care and affection. Throughout the story, the perspective switches between characters and after a while it is apparent that Meg and Brad are thinking the exact same thing; that they want something more than a one-time deal. Shane is happy to go along with fulfilling Meg’s fantasies and there are some very erotic ménage scenes. However, I feel that Shane’s story is still to come. The author successfully builds the tension and frustration at wanting to see these characters happy.

DeVante’s Children is a dark and broody paranormal tale. In this new and intriguing story, the Vampires are few in number and always kill their victims when they feed. Unlike most Vampire tales currently on the market, there is little to like about SM Johnson’s deadly, self-centered and arrogant creatures, which I found surprising. Then there are those occasions when Roderick or DeVante would do something tender and caring, and I’d change my attitude toward them, at least for a while. Katarina, DeVante’s creator, is a dangerous and violent killer and frankly I would have loved to see her staked. I don’t know whether of not there is another release to follow but I, for one, would love to see what happens after Daniel makes his move from the world of mortal to Vampire.

After reading Lucky Charms, I could see both characters’ side clearly. Patrick is a man who knows his worth and wants a woman to recognize it without glamour trappings to lure her to him. Ingrained with the concept of not settling at a young age, Jada still holds a firm belief in that way of thinking. I was pleased to see the extent Patrick was willing to go for Jada’s love and pleased that while Jada fought the attraction, she acknowledged where her heart lay without Patrick going “caveman” on her. Marie Rochelle, as always, has brought a delightful interracial relationship for our reading pleasure, and I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings to us next.

Hard Fall is a multi-level thought inspiring story of coming to terms with yourself, faith, crime, drama and existing prejudice. Joe is a man who accepts that he is in-the-closet gay, yet he still has faith. Kabe found that Joe’s strength and outlook on life helped him be a better person. James Buchanan produced an excellent illustration of crimes and passion, interwoven with how “the righteous in their own minds” people utilize church rituals as tools to promote prejudice without giving consideration to the fact that their words and actions are in violation of teachings they are attempting to validate. This is a well written and persuasive story that I enjoyed immensely.

Larson refuses to rush Calvin into a relationship, knowing that the anxiety and stress from his encounter could be what is drawing Calvin to him. He refuses to confuse love with Calvin just Feeling Safe in his arms.

Sonja Spenser’s Feeling Safe starts with a heart throbbing encounter with a burglar, and ends with two men finding the love they both deserve. Calvin is quiet, handsome, and kind. Larson is as honorable as any man who carries a badge and a gun should be. What a perfect setting for these two men to meet. Even with the protection of his gun, Larson seems a bit venerable when he sees the distress on Calvin’s face. The characters blend perfectly, in and out of the bedroom. Ms. Spenser adds just enough conflict to make the story interesting without it seeming as if they just fight love for the sake of fighting it. I also enjoyed the fact that she added a bit of police jargon to make the story have a real feel without making it so complicated that we need a police manual to get through the book. Feeling Safe is definitely a story I plan to read again in the near future.

This action packed story will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what could possibly happen next. Ripple Effect is not to be missed.

Sliding Down The Pohutukawa Root is an enjoyable read that focuses on the delicate relationships within families and the effect bad relationships can have on a person’s life. Set in New Zealand, I learnt a lot about the Maori culture and traditions without being overwhelmed by the language. The character of Lani, who is autistic, was sensitively portrayed. Although there are some sexual scenes, the love between Amiri and Graeme is most evident through their caring for the children and the importance of family to their wellbeing. The characters have to face bigotry and nastiness from other members of the family and, although I would like to know more about what has caused this negativity, the overlying message of this story is that you are going to come across horrible people in your lives and it’s how much power you give them over you that makes all the difference.

Now that he is having second thoughts about the dangers they will be facing, he becomes very protective of Ellen. He already knows that he loves her and wants her to realize that she also loves him too.

Silk Stealth: Shadow Warrior is a wonderful story that leaves you wanting to read more of the culture and bands described throughout the book. I was very impressed with the main characters and how they adapted so quickly to any problems that arose, which interfered with completing their mission. When the villain from the last book showed up to get his revenge on Shiraj’s parents, by doing harm to their son and his fiancé, it’s not what you expect to happen. Ms. Valdez has done a fantastic job of rekindling not only the lost love of Ellen and Shiraj, but of reuniting a group of friends who needed each other in high school. She also does a great job of giving the history of how the band acquired their status over the years. I was very impressed with the research done of the customs of the country they visited.

Rael has come to terms with the pain he has caused, but he wants to make amends for his crimes. Dinun’s news is more than he can handle alone, and while it makes him feel weak, it allows those who love him to prove the magnitude of their strength. In addition, Sauj gains the opportunity for some healing that he didn’t know he needed. Ms. Somerville has brought back the cast I love and introduced a few new members, who felt like part of the family. For those who have been following this saga you don’t want to miss this installment. Bound to Fall encompasses action, suspense, a few sensual scenes, and a plot within a plot that adds a bit of mystery with the Sci-Fi adventure.

Phoenix Rising was written with extreme talent. The characters jumped off the page into my head with no-holds-barred. They would not let me go; I had to finish the book with no exceptions. The sex was hotter than hot; I believe I was reborn out of my own ashes multiple times during the whole read. This bar is my kind of place and I was tempted to go hunting it down. I recommend this read to everybody, and will recommend it for many years to come. Kaitlin Maitland is on my list of authors to watch out for; I am looking forward to her next great book.

James and Max don’t let Chloe know that they know each other, but they hope that the ending for them will be a happy one.

I liked this book because it is very detailed oriented and it lets you know exactly what each character is feeling so you go along for the ride. Ms. Novac challenges these strong characters to be honest with each other. With time and patience, they prove that they can work through anything. This story is full of surprises and family secrets that will leave you wanting more.

I enjoyed the reflections of Gabe and Dean as they explore their relationship and the bond they have always shared.

Silly and irreverent, this story packs lots of laughs. I, like Lucy, want to know who pays for her services. It’s a lucrative business, we’re told. But logic has little to do with it. This is a terrifically funny tale with solid characters and an unusual plot. Fun!

I tell you; to think something could scare them had me shaking my head, because they had no qualms fighting an enemy. I wasn’t sure if either of them would have the guts to just say “I want you for myself”, and it was by chance that the opportunity was finally granted for their true feelings to become exposed. This is definitely a story that adds elements of lust, passion, and the heightened emotions that only combat can bring about. If you like your military hard-to-the-core but soft as teddy bears when it comes to the one they love, then you’ll enjoy reading Upside Down.

Divided Hearts is a sequel that I believe provides closure to the loves and lives of the characters from Awakening, while introducing new and interesting characters who I would like to learn more about. I read its prequel with mixed emotions but I believe a lot of criticisms I had have been dealt with in this book. The writing runs smoothly and I found the detail of Shawnee life very interesting. Robert is a very likable character and I felt his heartache throughout. The plot was enjoyable and kept my interest. Although the author uses an innovative way to express the difficulties encountered with writing an historical romance, which I won’t spoil for the reader, I’m not sure it is all that successful as it felt, at times, as if I was being told what to think about what was going on in the story, instead of being left to make my own mind up. I was however, very happy with the outcome of this story and would definitely recommend losing yourself in this world.

Nicholas and Benito use the game to feel Vanessa out about a ménage relationship. This was an interesting spin on a childhood game. This story was about seduction and sex without a lot of plot.

Rain and Kane lived together but Rain is also attracted to Costas, Kane’s best friend. She leaves Kane to try to figure out what she wants. Rain’s roommate is killed and several attempts are made on her life because she walked in on the killer. Kane and Costas come back into her life to protect her. Costas decides to take a page from Nicholas’ book and play a slightly different version of “spin the bottle” namely “Truth, Dare or Handcuffs”. While there are a few steamy sex scenes in this story, the storyline kept you on your toes as Kane and Costas tried to find the killer.

Truth, Dare, Or Handcuffs, Or Threeway is a fun book to read. I liked the variations and questions of these versions of “spin-the-bottle’. I had thoughts of coming up with my own version of the game after reading this. I did prefer the second one more because it was more along the lines of an actual story.
