Isabella grew up in a sheltered Catholic household, but knows she has fantasies that don’t quite gel with her upbringing.  After receiving some bad news, her roommate decides Isabella is going to have some fun.  Jacques sees Isabella at the gallery and is very intrigued by her, as she seems to have no fear of saying ‘no’ to him.

Paradise is the second book in the Masters of the Order series.  This story is about Jacques, Nico’s cousin, and Isabella enters his life at a time he starts to feel like there is nothing in his future.  Familiar characters sprinkle this story with a few new ones, such as Isabella’s family, her brothers in particular.

Isabella works at a cancer center and is familiar with Jacques’ name, but she refuses to let him run roughshod over her.  Jacques knows he should leave her alone as she has never been involved with BDSM.  As they spend time together, he realizes she is a natural submissive.  Their relationship has some very big bumps along the way, but they work things out.  I also loved Jacques’ nickname for Isabella as it showed exactly what he thought of her.

I had to laugh at Jacques’ friends in the Order, as well as Isabella’s oldest brother.  Some of the antics were so typical of brothers toward each other and an older brother’s protectiveness of a baby sister.  Readers should be aware that several incidents in the book are also tear-jerkers so keep tissues on hand.

I have to say I am really enjoying the Masters of the Order series.  The relationships between the Masters and the people they bring into their circle are interesting and very real.  Ms. Verne’s grasp of how BDSM lifestyles are and some of the consequences of losing control are very realistic.  This is a series to be read again and should be on every BDSM lover’s bookshelf.

Adin Tredeger is a newly turned vampire, no thanks to his overzealous vampire lover, Donte Fedelta. Now Adin must reconcile himself to living as one of the undead.

Deep Deliverance is the third book in the Deep series. The action is fascinating, blended with a touch of humor.  The characters are credible as well as engaging.

The series begins with Deep Desire; Professor of Literature, Dr. Adin Tredeger travels the world hunting for historical erotica. He is searching for a 500-year-old journal with erotic illustrations. Donte Fedelta is the author and the artist of the journal and he wants his property returned. Adin and Donte meet on an airplane flying back to America and the two men become lovers.

In Deep Deliverance Adin feels betrayed by Donte for the role he played in Adin’s mutation, Adin had no desire to be a vampire. The one thing Adin cherished more than his love for Donte was his humanity.

A newly turned vampire has many adjustments to make.  The biggest modification required was that Adin must feed from a human. In Adin’s mind, feeding on humans would make him a monster, especially if the human died during the feeding process. Adin blamed Donte for the lost of independence as well as his humanity.

Donte realizes he cannot restrict Adin’s freedom; Adin still thinks like a human instead of a vampire. Donte does his best to protect Adin from their enemies even when Adin declines to listen to Donte’s guidance.

Z. A. Maxfield has created a wonderful addition to this series. There were several times during the reading of Deep Deliverance I hoped someone would smack Adin because of his stubbornness, but Adin finally admitted that he was the cause of the predicaments he found himself embroiled in.

Vanessa knows she is a Seer, but then she finds out her father was a hunter.  Creighton is summoned by the Sources and what they tell him could change his relationship with Vanessa.

You Own Me is the second book in the Battle Scarred series.  The war among the Supers and the rogues is heating up and the news is not good.  Creighton is a tiger shifter who must find his true mate.  The problem is that Vanessa has not really learned how strong she is, which is a concern to the Sources and created the problem Creighton faces.

Vanessa’s brother turns out to be a rogue and creates some major problems for not just Vanessa and Creighton, but their friends as well.  Along the way, Vanessa discovers things about herself and how strong she really is.  Creighton, in the meantime, is thinking of willingly defying the Sources.

Vanessa and Creighton’s relationship has a lot of chemistry.  One thing readers should be aware is that their sexual relationship is a BDSM one and several scenes between the couple reflect that in the book. I loved the way they finally resolved their personal issue.

The end of the book gives an indication about the next romantic relationship.  The war between the Supers and rogues is heating up and is sure to have several surprises in the future.  I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.

Every Breath I Take

Recovering drug addict Troy Kendall is happy with his life thanks to his lover, Detective Mark McLennan. Troy and Mark are deeply in love and Troy wants his friends to be happy too. But recently Troy becomes aware of the danger two of his friends are embroiled in. Because their friends choose to keep silent about their troubles, Troy and Mark’s hands are legally tied.

Every Breath I Take is a combination of romance and suspense. Troy and Mark first met when Troy was hospitalized after a brutal beating; he fought with his roommate’s attacker. Mark was the detective assigned to the case. The attraction between Troy and Mark developed into a loving relationship.

The plot features various types of abuse endured by Troy, as well as their friends. Teresa works at a small diner where the two lovers stop for coffee on a daily basis. Almost every day, Teresa has new bruises that she claims are the results of accidents.

Troy’s former roommate Kevin is suffering from mental abuse. He has been convinced by family members that homosexuality can be cured through counseling. However, the real source of Kevin’s problems is loneliness.

J.P. Bowie has created an interesting story illustrating how abuse of the body affects the mind, or perhaps in some situations, mental abuse happens first. I found Every Breath I Take to be impressive as well as enjoyable.

Princess Penelope has been running from an evil queen for a while.  Now that she’s been captured, there is only one choice for freedom.  Penelope accepted a dangerous quest to the Andvarian source, even though it could mean death.  Also there was the problem of the sexy baritone man that she was chained to as a partner on the quest.  Sex with him was off the table, no matter how much he made Penelope burn.

Shane Masters is no ordinary man.  He’s willing to do anything necessary to go free, but also to sleep with Penelope, regardless of the hopeless circumstances.  Protecting Penelope comes naturally for Shane and he isn’t shy about letting her know how he feels.

Once Upon A Dragon is the second installment in the WTF Dragon series.  The story starts with lots of history in play and left me with questions.  By the end of the adventure, I was up to speed.  Penelope and Shane’s immediate attraction added excitement to the chaos going on around them.  I enjoyed how magic worked for and against the couple at the same time.  This story is definitely not predictable, and I think readers will appreciate the “outside the box” plot from Dawn Montgomery.

Wolf shifter Derek Williams is driving home after a run in the park with his dogs when a young wolf shifter bumps into Derek’s car. Derek takes the injured wolf home to his mate Brian O’Donogue for treatment. Derek and Brian soon learn that big trouble is right on the heels of the injured wolf. Arcas, leader of the Knights, is searching for an ancient scroll recovered from the ocean. Joining the four scrolls together will be a weapon that can destroy all shifters.

Shifting Moon is the tenth book in The Shifters series. The plot gives more insight of the history of the ancient war that is now part of this century. The decadences of the fae are humans with gifted abilities, these are the people connected to the knights and the group known as the agency who have vowed to protect the shifters from the radical knights.  The knight’s members have been brainwashed into seeking to cleanse the world of shifters by Arcas whose true motivation is to get revenge for an event that occurred centuries ago.

M.D. Grimm has created another intruding action filled addition to this series. I am looking forward to the permanent end of the fanatical knights.
