Zach’s instant attraction to Josef led to an unexpected encounter, and then a relationship delving into the BDSM world. Zach is a born submissive, and while Josef enjoyed the role Zach naturally put him in, he lacked training needed to avoid pitfalls. Now, a year later, Josef has come in search of his lover. He wants the relationship back, and is willing to prove his love to Zach. The question at hand is does Zach still want Josef?

I Heart That City: Razzle Dazzle is a story about the exploration of the BDSM world and how one act can cause tribulation, even in a loving relationship. Zach is strong and independent, but something in Josef calls to his submissive side. Josef is dominant, intense, confident but even with his nature, he’s not your average Master. Watching the two men trying to rediscover their connection is erotic and heart-wrenching at the same time. You know there’s love there and a desire to rekindle a flame, but there’s also a power play at hand. However, when everything was said and done you understood exactly what happened with the couple, and couldn’t help but be happy they finally laid all their cards out on the table. As always, Ms. Okati has written a story that keeps your mind in constant motion as much as your libido. I have to admit I am a bit savvier when it comes to asking for drinks, thanks to this book. If you enjoy Ms. Okati’s previous books, you are in for a treat.

Tyron Sebers didn’t know what hit him but when he was struck by a man on a bike, it knocked him for a loop. Eli Rains didn’t know what he hit until he saw the prettiest eyes coming from the man he’s been lusting after. Eli felt responsible for taking care of the hottest man in town. Tyron had a secret that could take away the very person that he had fallen in love with, Eli Rains, and he was not going to let this happen.

I liked this book because Ms. Blue brought the drama big time, in this short story, while these young men learn to trust and love one another. This book also is very detailed oriented and you find all the secrets, which will shock your socks off. I Heart That City: Naked Richmond will make you want to visit.

Stranded by an Antarctic blizzard, Brendan Aaronson, David Tucker and Jamie Hunter must find a way to tap down their fear and survive until they can fly out. It helps that the three scientists work well together and there is a connection between them. Brendan and Tuck have secret desires for each other and Jamie has lusted after both men from a distance. Attuned to the passionate glances Brendan and Tuck try to hide, Jamie takes charge by making his desires known. When the other two men follow his lead, they form a bond so strong that none of them can ignore it.

Polar Reaction is an emotionally stimulating love story. Brendan has lived in denial of his sexuality, never admitting that his year-long attraction for Tuck was more than a comfortable friendship. Tuck knows what he feels for Brendan but he is afraid of losing him, so Tuck did not approach Brendan in an intimate manner before now. With his focus on Brendan, Tuck is surprised to discover that he cares for Jamie, also. Jamie is sensitive of the struggles Brendan is going through and he realizes he cares for both men, so he does everything in his power to keep the three of them together. Claire Thompson has created a superb, well written tale that illustrates three men equal in a devoted and compassionate relationship. Polar Reaction is an impressive saga that I enjoyed immensely.

Jake (Dr. Jacob McCoy) and Dana have been friends for years, and lovers in the past. Jake has been in love with Dana for a while, but Dana keeps playing the field and her latest lover is Mason. One night when Jake goes over to check on Dana, he finds her and Mason in the backyard. Dana invites him to play with them and their threesome becomes a Friday night date each week.

Dana ends up pregnant and both Jake and Dana look forward to having this baby. Later, Dana ends up losing the baby, due to circumstances beyond her control. Dana withdraws and tries not to feel anything. Jake is hurt that she is shutting him out as he feels the loss, also. Jake and Dana nearly destroy their relationship in the aftermath.

Playing for Keeps is a good book. It is very emotional and requires keeping tissues handy. You can feel Jake’s turmoil about the ménage and then later about losing the baby. Dana’s emotions weren’t as clear to see. Some of the ménage scenes seemed to lack some heat, but it picked up with Jake and Dana’s reactions to each other. I also appreciated Ms. Walker’s personal blurb after the end explaining how the book evolved.

Krystal knew she wanted to be an actress at the tender age of four. Moving to California from Chicago seemed like the right move, but her current position isn’t the best to be in. Krystal is dumped by her boyfriend and no longer has a place to stay. Sam, her best friend’s brother, appears with the offer of assistance. The two are mutually attracted and commence to setting the sheets ablaze. However, a moment of miscommunication could destroy what they are building.

Krystal and Sam didn’t know where the brakes were in Wanting Sam. These two were like perpetual bunny rabbits, feeling the need to touch and be touched. Sam isn’t the average type of man Krystal would have been attracted to, and I’m happy she didn’t waste the time fighting the attraction. I found Wanting Sam enjoyable to read, and recommend it to those who enjoy interracial love stories.

Monte Farnsworth’s sporting goods store is having another slow day when delivery man Jeff Hardesty stops in front of Monte’s door with a package. Little did Monte know that the package was just a pretext used by Jeff, who is an undercover agent for Homeland Security. Jeff is surprised by the immediate attraction he has for Monte; getting up close and personal with a potential suspect is not good in a crime investigation.

Special Delivery is an absorbing plot of crime-fighting with a hint of danger and a budding romance. Deirdre O’Dare has created a fascinating good guy versus bad guy story that I greatly enjoyed.

Staying awake for dinner is hard enough, so it’s no wonder Nevada has no time to spend with her man. Now Lucian is mad at her, so Valentine’s Day was not turning out the way Nevada was hoping.

Quality time with Nevada was what Lucian craved, and she definitely needed to be taken care of. He’s tired of arguing with Nevada over her work schedule, so Lucian came up with an irresistible plan.

Short and simmering is my description of Snowfire: Party Favors. One moment I was fanning myself from the sultry scenes, and the next I was gasping from being left hanging. Selena Illyria piqued my interest in this couple, but I didn’t connect with them as much as I had hoped. Hopefully I get to find out what happens next. Lucian is a vampire who knows how to sweep a woman off her feet, and his is a story that must be shared.

Best friends for a year, Eli Walsh and Wolf Grant are as close as two guys can be without crossing that invisible line. Catch is: Eli wants to cross that line. When Grant’s landlord/long-time friend tells Eli that Grant spends his nights in a fetish club playing Dom to worshipping subs, Eli decides to take matters into his own hands. Submitting to Grant, however, ends up doing more than cementing in Eli what he already knew. Now he has to deal with the fallout and try to convince Grant that they stand a chance together.

Just Friends is a sexy but sweet romance between two best friends. Grant’s vulnerability is well-hidden beneath his Dom exterior, but Eli is determined to break down the barriers. The sex is hot and perfectly paced -- not too much, not too little. I especially like that Grant avoids kissing until the end. It’s not an uncommon stance for a Dom to take, and it fits him well. When he does kiss, though, the emotions are there, and the walls crumble with breathtaking speed.

This is my first book by Anne Thomas, but it sure won’t be my last.

After suffering unbearable tragedy Victoria West would have lost the will to live, if it wasn’t for her best friend Carmyn; the woman was there for her when she needed her most and Victoria won’t ever forget that. However, while she may have found a reason to live, Victoria seems to have given up on ever being happy again. Instead, she dedicates her life to fulfilling the fantasies of others. Thanks to a sizable insurance policy, she has the means to set up her very own Fantasy Mountain; where anything goes and with Victoria making deepest desires a reality, business is booming.

Victoria has money, power and fame but as much as she might hate to admit it, she couldn’t have done it all without Brett, her English attorney, or as she likes to call him, “Britt”. The chemistry between them from the start is palpable and both see no problem acting on it, just so long as Britt understands that he will never be allowed into her heart, ever.

Britt’s watched from the sidelines as men have come and gone from Victoria’s room. He was beginning to think that he couldn’t save Victoria from the life she was determined to lead. He had gone so far as to promise commitment to another, but Victoria was never far from his thoughts. When a lost soul turns up on her doorstep, Victoria has no choice but give them shelter. The effect this stranger has on Victoria makes Britt believe that not all hope is lost but he has to act fast.

Fantasy Mountain was an enjoyable read with very interesting characters. The author was successful in bringing out a range of emotions in me; I felt the pain Victoria has had to endure, the frustration Britt feels as he watches and the intense desire they have for each other. Their inability to communicate their true feelings drove me crazy at times but these characters are far from perfect so mistakes are inevitable.

There is a lot going on in this story and I feel the author may have packed too much drama into it. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, something or someone else would spring up to add to the pair’s woes. If it wasn’t a jealous ex of Britt’s, it was the unwanted attention of both men and women causing Victoria trouble. There always seemed to be something to get in the way of the story concluding. Also, Britt was a very possessive character and the author pushed me to my limits in accepting his behavior at times. That being said, if you like drama that just keeps on coming, I recommend Fantasy Mountain. There is an underlying plot that drove me to want to finish the story and see the characters find closure.

Immortal Luc Saint-Cyr has lived for thousands of years, which was more than enough time for him to hone his sexual skills, and learn the ways of pleasure and pain. While most immortals have given up on the notion of finding love, Luc still strives to find someone of his own. Suffering from a broken heart, Luc is depressed and beside himself in misery. Soon, hope comes in the form of a young feline Kin drummer, Izzorah “Rah” Ceeow. Rah supplies a freshness that Luc has never come across in his entire lifespan. The two men have more in common than they could imagine. That thread of similarity will either strengthen their bond or render them helpless to move forward in a committed relationship.

Kayelle Allen grabbed my attention with a previous book containing Luc’s character, and I’m ecstatic to revisit the characters that enticed me so long ago. Luc is a complex man, but simple at the same time. Complex, because of all the secrets he keeps, the levels he allows others to exist in his realm and his knowledge of sex. Simple, because if you strip away the power, the immortality, and the body to die for, Luc is a simple man with a deep desire for love and acceptance for whom he is and not what he possesses. To gain entry to a level where you are privy to his heart says something about the person who occupies the space and Rah is no ordinary Kin. Rah’s handicaps are not weaknesses. They have allowed him to sharpen his skills at perception and make Rah a better person. I truly believe out of all the lovers I’ve seen Luc with, Rah is the one sent by whatever God grants love and happiness. He’s Luc’s gift for the times over the thousands of years where Luc was suffering or lonely. I absolutely loved this first book of the Surrender Trilogy, and I can’t wait to see where Ms. Allen is going to take us next. Surrender Love is a fantastic book, so if you are new to Luc or are an old fan, you truly won’t be disappointed.

Keith O’Leary and Carl Bronson are living their dream as the male leads in cable’s hottest rated television drama. Their show, Forever Young, is racy, cutting edge and always pushing the envelope of what is allowed to be telecast across the airwaves. While both men might have started off straight, their attraction has drawn them ever closer, and they are now living together. Personally, their lives are going well. It’s professionally they were having problems; the constant push and pull to deny or confirm their homosexual relationship is making both Keith and Carl a little crazy. If they confess, their careers could be over after Forever Young is cancelled. If they deny, they will likely alienate their gay viewers and cause the show to be cancelled sooner.

Their problems only get worse when someone, likely from their show, feeds details and pictures of their private life to the tabloids. They don’t know who to trust. Do they listen to the producers and directors of their show and confirm their relationship or to their agents, who insist they deny at all costs? The ultimate question is whether they can chose between their budding careers and their love.

Playing Dirty is the second release in G.A. Hauser’s new and ongoing Action! series and this one takes up shortly after the previous book left off. Carl and Keith are just as fun, sexy and in love as ever. That doesn’t stop them from being bombarded from all sides to either confirm or deny their personal, intimate relationship. It doesn’t matter that their involvement is consensual and private. It’s the perception and fear that their relationship invokes in the wealthy business powerhouses of the film industry that is causing the threat to their careers and stress to their lives. The sad fact is that many couples, in the real world, struggle with similar difficulties, which makes this a tale individuals from all walks of life can relate to and commiserate with.

The secondary characters from Acting Naughty and other books by Ms. Hauser are nicely placed within the plot, giving the story a sense of continuity and familiarity. The character that really shines in this story is Charlotte, with her pushy, ‘I’m always right’ attitude. Even though she was more than a little annoying at times, I still couldn’t help but like her, as did Carl and Keith. What I would have liked was some kind of resolution of the homophobic hostilities between Keith and his family. I loved the ending of this tale and have great hopes of seeing more of Carl and Keith in upcoming releases.

Zoia Stavros, a private investigator for Eagles’ Investigations, hated anything that had to do with the wilderness and being in the creepy forest after nightfall. It figured that the man she was hired to locate lived in a log cabin in a clearing in the middle of the woods on a mountain in Colorado. The only thing this assignment had going for it was the view into the bedroom window and the fact that she was being paid a lot of money to find this man.

Kol Thorstein had blank spots in his memory from blackouts that have been plaguing him for a while. Moving into isolation in his family cabin high in the Rocky Mountains, he does his best to keep track of his symptoms. Unable to remember the information that would be most useful, he grows frustrated.

A scent coming through his open window on a breeze triggers Kols primal lust. Standing in front of that window to get the full scent he gives himself, much needed release, only to be interrupted by the perimeter alarm on his truck.

Kol and Zoia come together in mind numbing stranger heat, bonding instantly. Will this bond help them to figure out what’s going on with Kol? On the other hand, will Zoia’s secret of being a private investigator and not Photographer of Nocturnal animals be the downfall of their budding relationship?

The characters Kol and Zoia grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go. I was entranced in the story. If you love shape shifters and beautiful woman with big secrets, then you will love Night Prowlers by Layla Chase.

The bond between Cam and Amadeaha has grown stronger, but both like to be in control and it’s putting a strain on their relationship. While one of the Lehor brother’s is rescued, another is poisoned by the woman he loves. The Archangels find themselves needing help. Cliona is a Fairy outcast who is living with them. She happens to know the kind of poison used, and can heal the injured brother.

This Archangels series continues with the wars being waged between Heaven and Hell, where requesting assistance from the Elves and asking the Powers to choose sides, will come in to play regardless of likes and dislikes. Instead of getting back to protecting the humans on Earth, the Archangels find themselves fighting to save their lives and the lives of their children from the justice angels and demons alike. A powerful demon is seeking one child, Ariel, who will have greater powers than most of the angel warriors. Ariel is a toddler able to mind speak with her family and knows more than she is telling her parents, Appolion and Ana.

There are times when I laughed at the descriptions of the way the females are dressed, or the comments made by the groups in general. Even with the seriousness of being hunted, killed or changed into demons, they still find love amongst themselves and mate for life. Bear Lehor is attacked, and it will take the strong psychic connection between Cam and Bear and the help of their mother to bring him back from the dark void. Bear is invaded by a very strong demon and has to fight for control. He will need the help of the Fairies to extract it from his body completely.

Angelic Redemption is the continuing story about the Archangels fighting for one of their own, and others who come into their flock. The Lehor’s and Raphael’s parents getting involved proves that the loyalties are shifting. There is still the fact that the Council will have to be dealt with, since Jehel, the head member, still wants total control of everyone.

Stephani Hecht has my total attention with this series. When you read this book, it will keep your attention until the end. You continue to the next one knowing it will reveal more about their leader. The characters complement each other with their antics, love, and sarcastic comments. There was never a dull moment while reading, and I am looking forward to what will happen next.

Accessibility Beta by Kil Kenny (4 Nymphs)
JJ meets the stunning and gorgeous Tory, a senior salesman in the company they work. JJ has a one-night stand with Tory, which leads to Tory thinking there is more that could be had with the other man. But JJ battles with his own emotions and demons in this tense tale.
Accessibility Beta has a lot of back story on the jobs both JJ and Tory carry out. Whilst some may find this aspect intrusive to the relationship aspect; I found the detailing both well-researched and fascinating. Sometimes I did feel the author delved too much in the character’s location. JJ is a confusing character, and he takes his merry time to make up his mind in this story. However his emotions were portrayed realistically in my eyes. Tory is such a unique character and like JJ I was drawn to him. The erotic nature of this story was superb – it’s been a long while since I’ve truly enjoyed the erotic aspect of a story, and I think it has more to do with the meaning behind the scene itself, that made the overall enjoyment that much higher. Accessibility Beta is a great contribution to the anthology.

Just Business by James Buchanan (5 Nymphs)
Treat has been in a slump ever since his girlfriend left him. So when he meets Zeal by chance, the man leaves a lingering impression on him. But unable to make a move, Treat finds himself in the arms of another man (or so he thinks) – but his thoughts are never far from Zeal’s.
I don’t know who picked the stories for this anthology, but they picked another scorching one here. I don’t like to continually emphasise about the sexual aspect of a story, because a story should be so much more than the sex. But dear me, Just Business had me fanning myself, another superb erotic scene that had meaning and relevance. I have to admit the characters names made me giggle. It took me awhile to get my head around the names such as ‘Treat’ and ‘Zeal’ because it made my mind go to a sci-fi setting. The characters were excellent and the premise lovely and well-executed. There was a lot of passion and tension in this wonderful story. The sexiness these characters eluded, just makes me want to read more about them – and the great thing about the way this story is written, is it starts as a beginning, which can lead into more stories about Treat and Zeal. Or so one could only hope.

Wunderkind by Zoe Nichols (3.5 Nymphs)
Vincent is the CEO of a large textbook manufacture and a workaholic. He hires JD to help design a CD-ROM but both men fall into a lustful trap. Vincent makes it clear this is only a fling, but JD does the unexpected and falls for his boss. Whilst JD’s sexual life is getting complicated, his home life is getting worse. But will Vincent be there for him when the cards fall down?
Wunderkind took awhile to get into the story; I didn’t warm up to the characters immediately as they didn’t leap of the ‘pages’ for me. Though the good thing about this story is there is a lot of angst and heartache. I didn’t necessarily believe in Vincent’s and JD’s relationship in this story. The ending confused me, and it was just too neatly tied in the end.

When the Cat’s Away by CB Potts (3.5 Nymphs)
Brad has been propositioned by his boss; become his willing whore or lose his job. So Bradley does what he has to do. But when his boss becomes dangerous and violent, Morgan the janitor is on hand to save Bradley.
A very uncomfortable read describes When the Cat’s Away. There is a lot of humiliation that Bradley faces in this story, but the author handles it well. The story moves at a fast pace and there isn’t a word wasted. The ending was a surprise but it was also refreshing.

Fringe Benefits is a very good anthology, filled with steamy and original storytelling. All the stories held a unique out look at the anthologies theme at hand, and the author’s did a wonderful job complying that into their stories.

Living a life in a house of cards constructed of past moments with his first love has Preservationist Davis Andrews hoping they will find a way back into each other’s lives and arms. However, one phone call changes all of that. Jack Monroe has moved on, found a new love and has invited Davis to his wedding. With the help of his best friend, Deseree, Davis travels to Chicago with plans on getting back the only man he has ever loved. Unfortunately, it won’t be easy when the fiancé is successful, attractive and set on keeping Jack for himself. Then add a British playboy by the name of Alex Parker to the list of players, and it’s no wonder Davis will have to hope for a bit of Self Preservation for his heart, his mind, and if Alex has anything to do with it, his body.

Ethan Day knows how to put a reader on an emotional roller coaster ride and by the end of the book, have you not caring that you left your heart at the top of a loop. The characters are fantastic. Davis is sweet, funny, and handsome. Jack is talented and loving. Tadd, Jack’s fiancé, is everything you would hate for you ex to find in the next man, he’s bloody perfect. Then there is Alex, a man who runs from the word “commitment” faster than any sprinter I’ve ever seen on a track. Deseree is a peach, and Jack’s mom is the type of mom every gay man would wish for his own. Honestly, each character completes this story and brings it life. There were moments where I wanted to bundle Davis up and protect his heart, but I knew the road he traveled down was important and would be life-altering. The trip gave Davis exactly what he wanted but very little of what he expected. I’m looking forward to reading more of Mr. Day’s novels. The humor, setting and complexity of the relationships are entertaining and grasp your attention until the final sentence. If I’m fortunate, Mr. Day will have a short story about Deseree in the near future. One could only hope.

Meg Trainor is having fantasies of being dominated, not by one but two men. She longs to submit in the bedroom and she’s more than willing to accept punishment if she misbehaves. However, she doesn’t expect to find what she’s looking for any time soon, preferring to work in the library rather than letting someone get close enough to hurt her again. Even so, she never expected to be working on Christmas Eve. She knows there won’t be any customers but she promised her boss she’d help out and she’d do anything to get away from her best friend Lisa’s attempts at getting her laid – she’ll find her own fun, thank you very much.

Meg was prepared to spend the day writing down her Christmas wishes in her beloved journal but her plans went right out the window just as Brad Griffin walked in the door. It seems that as she was engrossed in her fantasies, a storm had set in and swept the men of her dreams straight into her life. Brad was passing on his way to a toy show with his brother Shane when their car broke down. What with the storm, none of them are going anywhere anytime soon. It seems that maybe this year, Santa finally thinks Meg’s been a good enough girl to get what she wants.

Mistletoe Studs delves into the world of BDSM with sweltering results. It is obvious from the moment they meet that Meg and Brad have serious chemistry so it’s only a matter of time before they act on it. Meg is new to this but her body is on fire at the thought of Brad and Shane; both men treat her with a great deal of care and affection. Throughout the story, the perspective switches between characters and after a while it is apparent that Meg and Brad are thinking the exact same thing; that they want something more than a one-time deal. Shane is happy to go along with fulfilling Meg’s fantasies and there are some very erotic ménage scenes. However, I feel that Shane’s story is still to come. The author successfully builds the tension and frustration at wanting to see these characters happy.

Daniel hates his life and after his father kicks him out of the house for being gay, he hates it even more. Without a home, he’s forced to crash on a worthless friend’s couch for weeks while he tries to figure out what he wants to do, now that he’s on his own. Depressed and unhappy, his life spirals out of control with drugs and alcohol. He’s not even certain about being gay until he meets Roderick, who teaches him that there are lots of bump-in-the-night things in the world that are far stranger than men loving men. Roderick has designs on Daniel, and as much as he wants the young mortal with him, he never takes the final step so they can be together.

DeVante is Roderick’s Sire and when he discovers the unhealthy condition Roderick has left Daniel in, he’s furious. Daniel’s scared, lonely, can’t sleep and is losing weight all because he’s living in a precarious limbo world caught between mortal and Vampire. His only hope is Roderick’s sire, who agrees to take him under his powerful tutorage, teaching him what he needs to know in order to survive in the cruel and savage world of Vampires.

DeVante’s Children is a dark and broody paranormal tale. In this new and intriguing story, the Vampires are few in number and always kill their victims when they feed. Unlike most Vampire tales currently on the market, there is little to like about SM Johnson’s deadly, self-centered and arrogant creatures, which I found surprising. Then there are those occasions when Roderick or DeVante would do something tender and caring, and I’d change my attitude toward them, at least for a while. Katarina, DeVante’s creator, is a dangerous and violent killer and frankly I would have loved to see her staked. I don’t know whether of not there is another release to follow but I, for one, would love to see what happens after Daniel makes his move from the world of mortal to Vampire.

Jada Michaels is tired of the constant stream of losers knocking on her door. She wants a real relationship that will bring her the marriage she always hoped would come her way. Patrick Kaye desires a woman who can look past his geek exterior and discover the prince hidden within. Patrick and Jade are the best of friends, and while Jada has never looked at him as anything but, Patrick is ready for her to open him up like a box of Lucky Charms to discover the secret treasure. Will Jada finally break the glass box she has Patrick trapped in called “friendship” or is he destined to nothing more than a platonic companion?

After reading Lucky Charms, I could see both characters’ side clearly. Patrick is a man who knows his worth and wants a woman to recognize it without glamour trappings to lure her to him. Ingrained with the concept of not settling at a young age, Jada still holds a firm belief in that way of thinking. I was pleased to see the extent Patrick was willing to go for Jada’s love and pleased that while Jada fought the attraction, she acknowledged where her heart lay without Patrick going “caveman” on her. Marie Rochelle, as always, has brought a delightful interracial relationship for our reading pleasure, and I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings to us next.

Deputy Joe Peterson is taking a break from his patrol rounds when he notices Kabe Varghese. Kabe is serving his parole living and working on a ranch with his relatives; even though Joe is part of law enforcement in Garfield County, he is watching Kabe for a totally different reason. Joe decides to ignore his attraction to Kabe until a woman falls off a cliff and Joe requires help from Kabe, who is also an experienced rock climber, to do search and recovery with him. The two of them alone in the wilderness, Joe cannot conceal the fact that he is gay, Mormon and desires Kabe, a big opposition in small town Utah.

Hard Fall is a multi-level thought inspiring story of coming to terms with yourself, faith, crime, drama and existing prejudice. Joe is a man who accepts that he is in-the-closet gay, yet he still has faith. Kabe found that Joe’s strength and outlook on life helped him be a better person. James Buchanan produced an excellent illustration of crimes and passion, interwoven with how “the righteous in their own minds” people utilize church rituals as tools to promote prejudice without giving consideration to the fact that their words and actions are in violation of teachings they are attempting to validate. This is a well written and persuasive story that I enjoyed immensely.

Screenwriter Calvin Trison is excited about his move from Iowa. He has a new job, and hopefully the opportunity to find love in San Diego. The move was just the boost Calvin’s life needed. Thanks to a burglar, Calvin gets a jumpstart on his search for Mr. Right.

Officer Larson Jenkins responds to the nine-one-one call and rescues Calvin. Injured and scared, Calvin tugs at Larson’s heartstrings and awakens a need for love and companionship he didn’t have time to focus on, but refused to turn his back on. Larson refuses to rush Calvin into a relationship, knowing that the anxiety and stress from his encounter could be what is drawing Calvin to him. He refuses to confuse love with Calvin just Feeling Safe in his arms.

Sonja Spenser’s Feeling Safe starts with a heart throbbing encounter with a burglar, and ends with two men finding the love they both deserve. Calvin is quiet, handsome, and kind. Larson is as honorable as any man who carries a badge and a gun should be. What a perfect setting for these two men to meet. Even with the protection of his gun, Larson seems a bit venerable when he sees the distress on Calvin’s face. The characters blend perfectly, in and out of the bedroom. Ms. Spenser adds just enough conflict to make the story interesting without it seeming as if they just fight love for the sake of fighting it. I also enjoyed the fact that she added a bit of police jargon to make the story have a real feel without making it so complicated that we need a police manual to get through the book. Feeling Safe is definitely a story I plan to read again in the near future.

Carson is a private detective, who had the misfortune of thinking that going to Africa with his boyfriend would help their relationship. When they get into an argument, Carson is stranded out in the middle of nowhere. Soon he is lost, attacked by cannibals and taken hostage by a group of mercenaries. Able to escape, Carson is once again trying to find his way back to Jawara City. Eventually he meets up with Jack MacKenzie, whose group of mercenaries is out to help the people of Jawara.

From the beginning the two men are attracted to each other, yet neither is willing to make a move. When they realize their feelings are getting stronger instead of going away, Jack and Carson decide to take things slowly, which is good since they are constantly up to their necks in trouble of one sort or the other.

The author, Alex Standish, tells the story of a fictional African country that could be taken straight out of today’s headlines and interweaves the romance of Jack and Carson smoothly into it. This action packed story will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what could possibly happen next. Ripple Effect is not to be missed.

Amiri and Graeme have been living together with Lani and Wiremu ever since Amiri’s niece and nephew turned up on their doorstep with nowhere else to go. Amiri’s relationship with his family has suffered a lot over the years so he decides to do all in his power to offer the children somewhere they can call home. He’s managed to protect them from the craziness of his and Graeme’s families while they were in his care, up until now, but with Christmas coming, Graeme’s got a surprise for him which means it’s time to let Lani and Wiremu see their roots and work out for themselves just where they figure in this family.

Sliding Down The Pohutukawa Root is an enjoyable read that focuses on the delicate relationships within families and the effect bad relationships can have on a person’s life. Set in New Zealand, I learnt a lot about the Maori culture and traditions without being overwhelmed by the language. The character of Lani, who is autistic, was sensitively portrayed. Although there are some sexual scenes, the love between Amiri and Graeme is most evident through their caring for the children and the importance of family to their wellbeing. The characters have to face bigotry and nastiness from other members of the family and, although I would like to know more about what has caused this negativity, the overlying message of this story is that you are going to come across horrible people in your lives and it’s how much power you give them over you that makes all the difference.

Ellen Mays is settled into the life she wants as a trauma nurse, until she gets a call from an old flame who wants to spend some time with her. When Shiraj asks her to accompany his band to Dubai, she is not sure what to expect. While they are out in the desert sightseeing, an offer they cannot refuse comes along, and it plunges them into an unexpected situation.

Shiraj Mansouri is an accomplished musician and wealthy businessman who has decided he needs more in his life, and that is Ellen. The trip abroad is more complicated than the band knows, thanks to the CIA, since Shiraj has been approached to be a Shadow Warrior. Now that he is having second thoughts about the dangers they will be facing, he becomes very protective of Ellen. He already knows that he loves her and wants her to realize that she also loves him too.

Silk Stealth: Shadow Warrior is a wonderful story that leaves you wanting to read more of the culture and bands described throughout the book. I was very impressed with the main characters and how they adapted so quickly to any problems that arose, which interfered with completing their mission. When the villain from the last book showed up to get his revenge on Shiraj’s parents, by doing harm to their son and his fiancé, it’s not what you expect to happen. Ms. Valdez has done a fantastic job of rekindling not only the lost love of Ellen and Shiraj, but of reuniting a group of friends who needed each other in high school. She also does a great job of giving the history of how the band acquired their status over the years. I was very impressed with the research done of the customs of the country they visited.

A great deal has happened on Quarn since the attack two years prior. Kine Raelne, along with Suaj qel Gwan his colleague and partner, have settled into a content relationship. They don’t get to fly as often as they would like, but they have plenty of work to do. Unforeseen news has left Dinun qel Noto worried, and feeling guilty about the possibility of taking his lover, Moon, away from life as he knows it, but there may be no other choice.

Just when the disruption from the first invasion has finally quieted down, a ship from Tuzax arrives. They bring an opportunity for all the major players to visit Tuzax. The question is can they trust the Tuzax government to take them between the two planets without any mishaps?

Bound to Fall is book three in the Encounters series. It was nice seeing how the years have treated Rael, Sauj, Dinun, and Moon. Moon seems to have grown a bit more and is more assertive. Rael has come to terms with the pain he has caused, but he wants to make amends for his crimes. Dinun’s news is more than he can handle alone, and while it makes him feel weak, it allows those who love him to prove the magnitude of their strength. In addition, Sauj gains the opportunity for some healing that he didn’t know he needed. Ms. Somerville has brought back the cast I love and introduced a few new members, who felt like part of the family. For those who have been following this saga you don’t want to miss this installment. Bound to Fall encompasses action, suspense, a few sensual scenes, and a plot within a plot that adds a bit of mystery with the Sci-Fi adventure.

Natalie Buchanan has been working non-stop for six weeks. It’s time to let her hair down and have some fun with the girls. Le Club d'Esclavage is the bondage club that she’s read about in the paper; the club that had her curious about submissive pleasures. What’s a girl to do? Run for your life! But before she can make a quick get-away, she hears a familiar voice and now there’s no turning back.

I liked this story because Ms. Cole has a way of making the reader think a quick exit might solve the problem, but the tables are turned and it’s best that you stay just to see the outcome. This short story, with its sex toys and dirty sex talk, and oh the bondage had me panting for the next book. Natalie found pure ecstasy At The Dungeon Master’s Hand, book one of Le Club d'Esclavage series.

Megan Washington is considered the perfect daughter, until one night when she enters the Le Club d’Esclavage, known strongly for BDSM. Megan sits with her friends until a powerful and masculine man catches her eye and then it’s like the Pointer Sister’s song said “FIRE”! This bold and sexy man by the name of Ransom Seager was burning up her insides with liquid hot magma! They shared a drink and she knew she had to have this vision, this hot and wonderful man making love to her before the night was over.

Megan’s night was just beginning when Ransom asked if she trust him, to let him give her the sweetest pleasure of her life. Ransom could see that Megan’s desire was to be a submissive. Troy his partner, would ensure this wish being fulfilled. Troy was the dominant in his and Ransom’s relationship but they wanted a third, who would bring joy and so much love to their hearts. They knew it was Megan. Ah, the spine-tingling, sweat popping sex will leave you wanting this book to never end.

I enjoyed this short story while wishing for more. There is much drama and tension that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Plus, there are surprise visits from friends. A Toy for Two, Book Two of Le' Club d'Esclavage Series, will leave you wanting all relationships to be this Hot!

Jessa, a Stepford Wife, has trained herself through out her 19-year marriage to be the perfect society wife. Belonging to all the right clubs, having all the right friends, and sitting on all the right charity boards. Being the perfect society wife came with the obligation of turning one’s head when her perfect society husband would find comfort and satisfaction in another woman’s bed.

Jessa’s world came crashing down when her husband of 19 years dropped the bombshell of all time. He was leaving her for his mistress and her kids. Jessa couldn’t carry pregnancies full term and after three miscarriages, she concluded that she would never be able to give her husband, Will, the family he so desired. So she let him go, realizing that it didn’t really bother her. Had she ever been in love with her husband?

In this realization, Jessa sets out on an adventure to find her true self. Can a society wife be made over into whom she truly was, even if she didn’t know it herself? Who would have known that a seedy bar named Phoenix Rising would hold those answers for her.

Connor, an ex-convict and bar owner had more guards around his emotions than Fort Knox. After the love of his life lied to him and got him put in prison, he swore off relationships for all time. The occasional romp in the office with a random girl from his bar was all he would ever commit.

His world was turned upside down when a prim and proper woman walked into his bar. His bartender hired her as a server and slowly his emotional guards began to fall. His primal instincts to protect and keep this woman close both confused an angered him. Who would have known that a prim and proper woman would be his downfall.

Phoenix Rising was written with extreme talent. The characters jumped off the page into my head with no-holds-barred. They would not let me go; I had to finish the book with no exceptions. The sex was hotter than hot; I believe I was reborn out of my own ashes multiple times during the whole read. This bar is my kind of place and I was tempted to go hunting it down. I recommend this read to everybody, and will recommend it for many years to come. Kaitlin Maitland is on my list of authors to watch out for; I am looking forward to her next great book.

Chloe Halliday has kept her artistic life at bay for a long time and her personal life even farther. Chloe feels like everyone is wearing a mask, but what gets her is that even she is wearing one. She has an artistic background to die for and Chloe is terrified to take step in that direction. Fear has always blocked her path, so a co-worker, that won’t take no for an answer, leads her to the internet where she can be herself and let her imagination take her whereever she wants to go. This is where she meets Max.

Max also wears a mask but conversations with him stir something deep within Chloe. She wants to pursue a relationship with him but a relationship would mean opening up her heart, something she dreads. She’s no good with open relationships, but she does want to experience true love and one day, children. James is the man that she meets at a coffee house and challenges her to be true to herself. James and Max don’t let Chloe know that they know each other, but they hope that the ending for them will be a happy one.

I liked this book because it is very detailed oriented and it lets you know exactly what each character is feeling so you go along for the ride. Ms. Novac challenges these strong characters to be honest with each other. With time and patience, they prove that they can work through anything. This story is full of surprises and family secrets that will leave you wanting more.

Gabe Layton comes home early to find his live-in lover of six years engaged in unsafe sex with a younger man. Outraged at the blatant act of his partner, Gabe leaves the apartment before violence could erupt. His first thought is to call his best friend of twenty years, Dean Bannon. Gabe has desired Dean for years, but never acted on it until Dean takes Gabe home to sober up. Gabe kissed his straight friend but instead of rejecting him, Dean responded and wanted more.

Positive Possibilities is a wonderful story of discovery for Gabe and Dean. Gabe is gay and even though he wanted Dean intimately; he accepted that they would never be more than friends. It took Dean years to realize he liked both men and women; information that he never shared with anyone. Shayla Kersten has created an impressive story of friendship growing into love. I enjoyed the reflections of Gabe and Dean as they explore their relationship and the bond they have always shared.

Lucy Cartwright works for Karmic Consultants. She helps ghosts pass over and specializes in those who are sexually frustrated. Her boss, Karma, figures these spirits seek out Lucy because she needs to get laid herself. When Jake Cox appears at her door, Lucy thinks Karma has sent her a hunky gigolo. Jake turns out to be a private investigator, trying to catch a mob bigwig. He’s hoping a recently deceased accountant will appear to Lucy. And he wants the dead guy to finger his boss.

Eliot Mellman is an unusual poltergeist with more power than Lucy has ever seen. And the goofy ghost has a thing for the medium.

Silly and irreverent, this story packs lots of laughs. I, like Lucy, want to know who pays for her services. It’s a lucrative business, we’re told. But logic has little to do with it. This is a terrifically funny tale with solid characters and an unusual plot. Fun!

SpaceForce Marines Commander Jeff Langley tries to treat all the men under him as equals, with no favorites. This is a hard task after years of forging friendships and close bonds but for the most part, Jeff has succeeded. The one person who can test Jeff’s ability is Colonel Rell ta Bakinee. When Rell is mortally wounded, Jeff doesn’t just wonder what will I do to save a soldier or even what must I do to save a friend. Jeff will have to ask and answer the ultimate question. What will I do to save the man I love?

Jenna Hilary Sinclair brings intergalactic love, war, and a race to save a life in Upside Down. Jeff and Rell are both strong, determined men who are capable of leading forces, but too nervous to own up to their feelings. I tell you; to think something could scare them had me shaking my head, because they had no qualms fighting an enemy. I wasn’t sure if either of them would have the guts to just say “I want you for myself”, and it was by chance that the opportunity was finally granted for their true feelings to become exposed. This is definitely a story that adds elements of lust, passion, and the heightened emotions that only combat can bring about. If you like your military hard-to-the-core but soft as teddy bears when it comes to the one they love, then you’ll enjoy reading Upside Down.

Nathaniel and his companion Robert are on their way to the Ohio territory, in search of a new life. Robert has strong feelings for Nathaniel but as the two men work closely together in their new home, it becomes apparent that Nathaniel just may not have enough room in his heart for another. The memories of their old life weighing heavy on his mind, Robert is called up to help the English in their negotiations with the Shawnee tribe by acting as translator. As he prepares to leave the man he loves dearly, Robert is torn by shocking news that could spell the end of his life with Nathaniel for good. When circumstances out of their control separate the two men, Robert meets Red Horse and begins to understand the conflict within Nathaniel’s heart.

Divided Hearts is a sequel that I believe provides closure to the loves and lives of the characters from Awakening, while introducing new and interesting characters who I would like to learn more about. I read its prequel with mixed emotions but I believe a lot of criticisms I had have been dealt with in this book. The writing runs smoothly and I found the detail of Shawnee life very interesting. Robert is a very likable character and I felt his heartache throughout. The plot was enjoyable and kept my interest. Although the author uses an innovative way to express the difficulties encountered with writing an historical romance, which I won’t spoil for the reader, I’m not sure it is all that successful as it felt, at times, as if I was being told what to think about what was going on in the story, instead of being left to make my own mind up. I was however, very happy with the outcome of this story and would definitely recommend losing yourself in this world.

Truth, Dare or Threeway (3.5 Nymphs)
Vanessa has worked for Nicholas and Benito for 2years and has had fantasies about both of them. Both have let her know of their interest, separately, but now both want her permanently. Nicholas came up with a plan that involves trapping the three of them in an elevator and playing a variation of “spin-the-bottle”. His version is “Truth, Dare or Threeway”. Nicholas and Benito use the game to feel Vanessa out about a ménage relationship. This was an interesting spin on a childhood game. This story was about seduction and sex without a lot of plot.

Rain and Kane lived together but Rain is also attracted to Costas, Kane’s best friend. She leaves Kane to try to figure out what she wants. Rain’s roommate is killed and several attempts are made on her life because she walked in on the killer. Kane and Costas come back into her life to protect her. Costas decides to take a page from Nicholas’ book and play a slightly different version of “spin the bottle” namely “Truth, Dare or Handcuffs”. While there are a few steamy sex scenes in this story, the storyline kept you on your toes as Kane and Costas tried to find the killer.

Truth, Dare, Or Handcuffs, Or Threeway is a fun book to read. I liked the variations and questions of these versions of “spin-the-bottle’. I had thoughts of coming up with my own version of the game after reading this. I did prefer the second one more because it was more along the lines of an actual story.

Kenneth Stokes’ life changes when his father Herbert tells him he was the product of a liaison between Dad and an 18-year-old cook. Kenneth’s mother had become depressed after several miscarriages and refused to participate in sex. The servant had initiated the relationship, for her own devious reasons. Mother has committed suicide, and Kenneth goes in search of the now 40-something Molly.

Molly is wily and evil and manages to haunt and taunt both members of the Stokes family. The relationship between Father and Son is strained and Herbert’s health deteriorates. It’s spooky and surreal, just like a paranormal tale should be.

Buried bones and disappearances add to the suspense. But the trunk never makes it to the basement and the final words are “to be continued.” I found no mention of a sequel on the publisher’s site.

So this is great as far as it goes, but I desperately want to read the conclusion.

While Mark Hanson has his skills as a secretary honed to perfection, he could use help with his people skills. Well, not with befriending women but with interacting with other gay men. How can a shy gay man make a connection with other men? Sometimes, all it takes is a simple bet and the belief of a good friend.

Cassandra Gold has written a story filled with humor and the awkwardness of a new relationship in Special Delivery. Mark doesn’t know he is truly a diamond among glass. The man is handsome, sweet and caring. Tim Callahan is the attractive deliveryman who doesn’t use his appearance as a tool to weld for personal gain. Watching these men dance around their attraction brought back tender moments when I would flirt with someone, hoping the feelings was mutual. Of course there is a host of supporting characters whom round out this story. The best friend that pushes you to follow your heart, the woman who thinks she’s God’s gift to men and the peanut gallery who seems to fall into step like a teenage girl with hopes that the popular chick will take pity and befriend her. I couldn’t help but to connect with Mark and Tim in this story. I enjoyed reading this story and look forward to picking up Ms. Gold’s next release.

After being given an ultimatum by her parents, Tori Banks decided she’d rather run away from her demanding Beverly Hills family than give into their demands. She’s never fit in with their lifestyle and growing up hasn’t been easy for her. Part of the problem is the recurring nightmares linked to killers, or so she thinks, until they come back again, years later in full force. When a friend asks Tori to speak with a police detective, he blasts her with his negative talk without giving her the benefit of the doubt and she blasts right back at him regarding his bad behavior towards her.

When Detective Guy Breauchard meets Tori, its love at first site and he doesn’t handle it well, especially since he brought a date with him, to question Tori. He gets a nasty attitude with her because he doesn’t believe she’s telling the truth, since it goes against everything he was taught at the academy. Because of her doubts, it kept him on his guard every time she tried to sabotage their time together and he would become very angry, not understanding why. One thing he was grateful for was that he would be protecting and supportive for her when the screams from the nightmares ended.

Linked is a great story about a heroine and hero who had so many bumps in the road that they were traveling down and the focus of the killers finding her that it was a little distracting. With two murderers traveling cross-country to get to her, killing “for her” as they put it, and linking with her so she can see every one of the murders. I found myself wanted to shake Tori because of her deep insecurities from childhood to young adult. It was very frustrating for me when she would deliberately start second guessing herself or Guy, who only wanted to protect and love her.

This story was centered on two main characters, but with a twist of a psychic connection that wasn’t a good one. Barbara Huffert did a fabulous job of describing the scenes well and kept me trying to figure out how long before the main three people involved would finally meet. As written, the book is a little too long for me, and I would have preferred to know a little more about why the two men were worshiping Tori, and why they communicated only with her.
