Life is good for Lance. His lover Magnus proposed and has taken a job at Stockholm University, so their little family of three will soon be starting a new life in a country far different from the one he grew up in. Lance is ready for the challenge and anxious to move forward to the next stage of his life. He isn’t as thrilled with the cold and dark winter days in Sweden. Still they’re together, but all isn’t perfect in their life and a threat to their relationship and Magnus’ job must be dealt with. Will their love be strong enough to stand up to the threats from the outside world? Can what started under the mistletoe last a lifetime?

The Mistletoe Experiment is the final release in the trilogy, Mistletoe Science, by Serena Yates and since it takes up shortly after the last release left off, I recommend the books be read in order.

Lance and Magnus are going forward with their life together and while the flow of this novella isn’t fast, it moves along at a steady, believable pace. The transition from one scene to the next is smooth and the descriptions of their new home in Sweden – during the depths of winter – and Lance’s reaction to the cold is particularly well done. I’ve liked this fun and quirky couple since the first release, Mistletoe Phenomenon, and as I’ve followed the growth of their relationship, that hasn’t changed. Their devotion and love is just as intense and their sex life is still sizzling hot.

That doesn’t mean all is without problems and Ms. Yates did a nice job interjecting unrest into their lives and Magnus’ job to keep the plot interesting in the midst of an intercontinental change of lifestyle. I also appreciated how well she integrated young Jakob into the plot, allowing him to play an important part, instead of using him for fluff background. The trilogy has come to an end, but this series has earned a place in my keeper file to be read again in the future. Enjoy!

A plus-sized fetish model with blue-streaked hair and a love of tattoos, Indigo Hartley is not afraid of the extraordinary. She has worked her way out of the country life, into the city and right into the oncoming path of the dominant chef Banner Faust. Granted, lying naked on a table and draped in Japanese delicacies isn’t an everyday occurrence for Indigo and it doesn’t help that having the world renowned chef so close is causing her to find it very difficult to remain still but luckily for Indigo, Banner has seen something he wants to taste – and we’re not talking about the sushi.

Banner can’t believe his eyes when the beautiful, extroverted and so obviously submissive Indigo walks into his life. Oh, she knows how to hide her true self from the outside world, but Banner can see the need to please and be loved just radiating from the vixen. He wants three days to prove how good it could be between them and he takes great pleasure in watching her process his request while trying to be professional in a room full of people eating off of her. As Banner’s guidance allows Indigo to go on a much needed inner journey of discovery, with sweltering results, the Dom realizes his own life is in need of change.

The complex characters in Wrapped Around Your Finger intrigued me. Indigo’s exploration of her submissive side is just beginning and at times, she feels like Banner is trying to mould her into someone she’s not. This really struck a nerve with me and I wish Indigo’s struggle between being able to let go and staying faithful to her own personality had been further explored. At times, there were implications that there was something wrong with her for wanting to use things like make-up and clothes to build a wall of protection against the world. I think Banner just wanted to show her that she didn’t need to hide when she was with him but it was still a little uncomfortable to read. It’s like he was stripping away everything that made her who she was in the first place. Perhaps this was the point of their relationship but I got quite attached to Indigo and at times, Banner’s will over her became too intense, as if I was losing the independent woman I had first met. Banner is tender and patient; the sex between him and his girl is erotic and his character develops nicely but I couldn’t help but hold my uncertainty towards his power over Indigo against him. I put myself in Indigo’s place and wanted to rebel against everything Banner said and did and I doubt that was the author’s intention.

Landon, a mercenary, has a bad feeling about this mission to kidnap Kirith Martinelli from his tropical island home. Kidnapping the brother of a mob boss was madness. Landon’s team crept into the house; suddenly everything had all gone terribly wrong. Landon is held in captivity, with no possibility of escape until Kirith offers Landon something Landon has never had before, freedom.

Taken is a well written compelling dark thriller. The plot is well paced with plenty of sinister action, as well as emotional trauma. The intimate scenes are sensual. The intricate plot features a psychotic killer with an unpredictably perverse motive. The characters are believable, in addition to presenting a psychological puzzle. Raised by his two malicious older brothers, Landon suffers from low self-esteem. Compassion and love are foreign concepts to him. Nonetheless, he has integrity, as well as mercy. For years Landon has put aside the money he made, striving for the day he would have enough to escape his abusive siblings’ power over him. Landon was forced to be a mercenary and feels guilty because of his bloodstained past. He first became aware of his own sexuality after accepting Kirith’s proposal. What started out as just sex developed into a love affair.

Considered mob aristocracy by birth, Kirith is knowledgeable plus realistically capable of being dangerous. Yet he chose a legal career, instead of his family’s profession. What Kirith truly desires is to be loved for himself, not his family connections and wealth. Constantly surrounded by armed guards for protection, his home is more like a prison. Kirith is cautious of most people, nevertheless he is capable of exhibiting true affection for a few of his family members. J.C. Owens has created an impressive and fascinating happy ever after saga that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Rafe has always wanted casual relationships, so he doesn’t know why he wants Anna so much. Anna has been protected all her life but is attracted to Rafe, despite her brother’s dismissal of him.

Black Surrender is an intensely emotional book, not only because of Anna and Rafe’s relationship, but the twists and turns within the Black Jag society. The third installment of the Black Jag series continues the fight to save the laws and traditions that were found. The infighting between the different factions is reminiscent of some things going on within our own world.

After Rafe and Anna are kidnapped, they realize they are mated, though it is a surprise to both of them. There is some rebellion on Anna’s part as she does not really want to live within some of the restrictions that are coming to light. Reading some of the laws and traditions, I can relate very well to Anna, as I too never went the traditional routine. The author did a great job keeping my interest as I stayed up late to finish reading.

Be aware that you should read this series in order, as you will need to know the background that brings the factions to a head. I am looking forward to the next book to see how things get resolved.

At an early age, Steve Ewing had been taught that reputation was everything. He rarely had an opportunity to be anything other than the conservative banker in the small town of Claremont. When Steve is offered his own personal fireworks show from a hot little number, he jumps at the chance to walk on the wild side. The heated encounter makes Steve realize that the woman in his arms is his perfect match sexually. After slipping away in the dark, Steve realizes that he’d tasted heaven with the wrong woman.

Mandy Franklin knew men didn’t view her as a sensual creature. The men in town seemed to be more impressed by her basketball and cop skills than her feminine wiles. Never in a million years would Mandy have guessed that sweet and sexy Steve could show her such pleasure. Why would he pick someone as ordinary as her, when he could have any woman in town?

After having a taste of each other, Steve and Mandy realize they want to take things to the next level. The bedroom knows no limits, as far as the couple is concerned. But real life and family interference places seeds of doubt in Steve’s mind. Mandy quickly reminds Steve that he knew what he was getting into from day one.

Steve shocked me with his concerns about Mandy and for a moment, I was very disappointed in him. Although his honesty certainly deserved some respect. At this moment, I realized the depth of his feelings. In the bedroom, Steve might have dominated Mandy, but it was refreshing to see her stand up for herself and not apologize for who she was. She was a good cop, and I enjoyed seeing her in action. The unexpected element of danger always seems to put life into perspective and it definitely did with these two. Seeing them realize what was really important made my heart soar. There is one happy surprise in particular that I thought was the perfect cherry on top for this happily ever after story. Prisoner of Desire is the third book of the Apprehension series, but I hope not the last. Claremont County seems to be filled with good, down-to-Earth characters that have more layers than an onion and I look forward to getting to the core of each and every one of them.

Chef Luc Tessier and his English fiancé, Daniel Sheridan, are finally getting married in front of five hundred guests. If…if Luc can get his lover to stop obsessing over every little detail before they both go crazy. Daniel’s strangest idea is the worst for Luc and his libido – no sex for the six days prior to the wedding. How’s the hot-blooded Frenchman supposed to survive until his wedding night without going insane, especially when his best man pays a male stripper, hired for his bachelor party, to have sex with him?

Daniel’s dealing with Luc’s best man, who hates him, is annoyed with Luc’s constant need for sex and knows his parents hate him for being gay. He’s on the ragged edge of a breakdown and is so nervous, he needs to be sedated to walk down the aisle. If these two lovers can survive their Friday, the thirteenth wedding day, it’ll be a miracle.

The Last Supper is the final release in Scarlet Blackwell’s trilogy, Table for Two, and it takes up shortly after where the last release left off, making it important to read the books in order for maximum understanding. I’ve enjoyed all the books in this fast paced, fun series and I have to admit, I’m sorry to see it come to an end. It’s earned a place in my keeper file and I’ll definitely be re-reading them again in the future.

There’s nothing slow about the pace of The Last Supper. Its attention grabbing from the first page and it keeps the reader’s interest as it races through to the very last page. In between, it’s filled with great dialogue, interesting and well rounded characters, an obnoxious best man, sizzling hot sex, a few pre-wedding meltdowns and enough funny situations to keep the reader chuckling. Yes, everything that could go wrong with the wedding preparations just about does go wrong, but that only adds to the book’s overall charm. I’ve liked Luc and Daniel since they were introduced in Just Desserts and if anything, I like them even more here at the end. Read and enjoy!

He was her mate and the love of her life but Ash had foolishly thought she could carry on without Jadyn; safe in the knowledge that her actions had saved both of their lives. How wrong she had been. It was ten years ago that she had left him waiting; ten years since she had fled to the other side of the country in a futile attempt to put him out of sight and mind, all because their packs couldn’t accept their love. Their lives had been threatened and Ash spent what seemed like an eternity hoping and praying her lover had escaped the wolves so thirsty for blood. Now he stands before her, in all his gorgeous sculpted glory, and her heart can’t take it any more. One look at the pain reflected in his eyes tells her that although he may have escaped with his life, his heart had taken a beating maybe not even she could heal.

If Only For Tonight was a very enjoyable read, with bursts of passion, excitement and drama. I love a star-crossed romance and this one didn’t disappoint. I am very impressed with how well the author evoked such emotion out of me in a relatively short space of time. I believed in Ash and Jadyn’s love completely and was desperate for them to overcome their hardships. I didn’t want to comprehend having to turn your back on the love of your life, in order to keep them safe. The pain seemed to bleed from the pages as two wonderfully strong, complex characters were finally reunited. The conflict between the apprehension of opening their hearts again after 10 years of longing and overwhelming need to be together was very engaging. I enjoyed the werewolf aspect but although there were hints of the animal in them, it took a back seat to the very human romance element in my opinion. Jadyn’s final reunion with his mate was very satisfying but for me, the one question of whatever happened to the danger threatening their relationship 10 years ago is left unanswered. This did not detract from the enjoyment I felt at getting to share in the love lives of two very passionate werewolves.

The village tradition is to sacrifice a virgin to the dragon who lives in the mountain. Seduced into a compromising position by a traveling juggler, Jonndre the Potter becomes the next offering to the dragon. Always before, Patch would send the virgin sacrifices off to start their new lives. However, when Patch glimpses Jon, beaten and tethered to the rock outside his cave, Patch decides to keep Jon as his mate.

Affairs of Dragons is the first book in the Dragon's Mate series. The plot is well written with riveting action, violence instigated by greedy culprits, a smidgen of humor, spiritual healing expressed through love, along with a small quantity of sensual intimacy. The unfolding background mystery is well paced. The characters are creditable. Jon is an honorable man who lives in loneliness, as well as fear because of his sexuality. Fully expecting to die at the hands of the dragon, Jon is surprised when Patch nursed him back to health instead. Jon is immediately attracted to the beauty of Patch; both in man form and dragon form. Jon has no problem communicating his observations of Patch’s endowments. Nevertheless Jon feels he is not good enough to be in Patch’s exalted present.

Patch is also lonely. He finds Jon’s polite demeanor to be alluring. Jon and Patch have well-suited compassionate personalities. The storyline highlights the homophobic mind-set of villagers controlled by the priest. The plot illustrates civilization’s true abomination is ignorance, as well as the refusal to amend consistently restricted philosophies. The gifted Lena Austin has produced an outstanding and enormously pleasurable saga. I look forward to the next exciting episode.

Selena decides to get a drink to celebrate her divorce from her abusive husband. James spots her and talks her into going to a hotel room with him, with the caveat that she follow his directions.

In the third book in the Bondage Ranch series, the author deserves kudos for giving an extremely good tip for anyone out on a date with someone they don’t know well. James had Selena call a friend with his name, locations where they were, and when she would call her friend to check in or to call police if she did not.

Moving On is a great read about a woman taking back control of her life and trying new things. Selena decides to find out if her ‘date’ with James was because of him or if she really enjoys being a submissive in the bedroom and goes to the Bondage Ranch. Once there, she and James reconnect and their chemistry is scorching.

Moving On has an interesting murder mystery woven in that involves James’ job. The author stresses the confidentiality that revolves around the BDSM lifestyle, which can definitely hinder an investigation within the life. I think Ms. van Yssel did a good job balancing this fact in the story. This book can be read as a standalone book, though you will enjoy it more if you read the first two in order. I hope she continues this series as I am enjoying it and will be reading the whole series again.

Cheryl wants free of the abusive man who’s held her captive for three years and is using her as his sex slave. She longs to leave him for good and one Sunday morning, it finally happens. After repeated warnings about an electrical short, her keeper loses his temper and begins to assault Cheryl, causing her to react when he least expects it. It becomes her opportunity for freedom and she takes advantage of it. Now she knows she needs to change more than just her physical appearance. Cheryl finds the help she needs in a place she never expected -- a modern day Underground Railroad for abused women.

Along the way on her trip to freedom, Cheryl meets people at each depot stop. They show her what love really is by caring for her but she’s confused because she can’t remember what being loved is like. What she finds is a true friend that teaches her about where home is and Cheryl begins to learn to trust others. She is willing to protect any child in danger, even if she doesn’t know them.

Criminal Investigator Taylor Hughes lives a boring life while working for the police department. One day he receives a call from his aunt, who pleads for his help in making sure a young lady gets home and he gives in. Little does he know that she is the same person he’s looking for regarding a murder case. So he agrees to help and he feels a certain amount of attachment after seeing her picture for the first time.

Sunday Awakening is a touching heartbreaking story of how a young lady survives years of captivity and abuse by more than one person. It left me with a bitter taste in my mouth at how adults take advantage of children for their own pleasures. KevaD did a fantastic job with plotting out this story of suspense, murder, learning trust and finding the true meaning of home.

I didn’t know whether to be shocked or appalled when I learned Cheryl’s history, but must say that she showed great courage throughout the entire book. Taylor got a wakeup call regarding his personal life and he knew he needed the changes. Then when you add his helping Cheryl find her way home, the ending could have gone so many different ways. Because of his background and Cheryl’s story, he is able to complete his promise to his aunt with helping Cheryl get home. This is a story that ended better than I could have hoped for. Read and enjoy!

The war with the Gavenelians is going poorly and the Confederation is losing almost as many ships as they’re destroying. Captain Sasha Dmitrov contacts mysterious space pirate and engineer Harry, in hopes he’ll come up with anything that’ll give them an advantage over the murderous aliens. He expects to be told to jump out an air lock, not offered the opportunity to visit Harry on his planetoid, the secluded Nicodemus Vector.

Harry is not what Sasha expected. He’s an Andromedite empath who Sasha has little ability to shield his emotions from. Together they must find a way to defeat their mutual enemy but while doing so, they discover an attraction he never expected. But Sasha has a war to fight and must eventually leave. If he survives the war, should he return to Harry and if he does, will he be welcomed or turned away?

Something About Harry is the latest release by co-authors Bennett & Tachna and it follows along in the world of Hot Cargo and Healing in his Wings, with some of the same characters interspersed throughout. I would recommend the books be read in order.

I’ve always been a fan of sci-fi books and was intrigued when I came across Hot Cargo, opening up this imaginative futuristic world built by these two talented authors. When I learned of the release of Something About Harry, I was thrilled to get another look into this interesting galaxy in the midst of war. The authors did an excellent job expressing the direness of the conflict and how desperate Sasha is to find an answer to the ongoing deaths of his fellow spacers. Yet, they manage to weave in a growing love story and do it with creativity and flair, mixing it with fun and a little hot interspecies sex. Harry and Sasha are emotionally attuned, yet physically different enough that being intimate could have been a challenge but these authors got them together romantically, sensually and most importantly…believably. Good work. Read and enjoy!

Professor Nathan Troy’s romantic getaway is not what he had planned. Finally arriving at Lake Tahoe from Los Angeles, Nathan is cold, tired and minus a boyfriend. Making his way to the cabin, Nate discovers a naked stranger sleeping in his bed. An accidental double-booking is the perpetrator. Nate and Kyle Harper, in the interest of peace, decided they could share the cabin. The next day, the mutually attracted men decided that sharing a bed would be an even better idea.

Two Man Advantage is a wonderful romance with realistic emotional dilemmas. The plot is well paced. The characters are credible. Nate is an intelligent, as well as, considerate man. He has long been in denial, regarding his relationship with his now ex-boyfriend. Nate realized he loved a figment of his imagination, rather than the actual boyfriend who broke up with him at the last minute through a text message. Meeting Kyle, Nate experienced little regret over his recent break up. Sensing the emergence of love for Kyle, Nate encourages him to reflect on a new career direction. Nate’s fondest wish is to have a true loving partnership.

Kyle is easygoing who enjoys harmless teasing. He was a star hockey player until a career-ending injury shattered his dreams. Due to his career, Kyle’s sexual episodes have been restricted to one night stands. Upon meeting Nate, Kyle recognizes that they share several common interests. Realizing he had fallen in love with Nate, Kyle looks forward to a long term relationship. Riley Shane's Two Man Advantage is an impressive, very enjoyable saga.

Derek is looking forward to his final year of high school. As a member of the school’s wrestling team, he knows this is their year to make it to the state championship. What he doesn’t expect is to meet someone like Scott.

Scott is the new kid in school, something he knows all too much about. Not happy about this latest move, Scott expects this to be the year from hell. Then he meets Derek and not only does he find a new friend but soon, the young athlete begins to mean a whole lot more.

Wrestling with Desire by D.H. Starr is a first rate coming-of-age story. Right from the beginning, you can see the connection forming between the main characters, Derek and Scott. Both young men are in their senior year of high school. That each is gay, in the closet and developing feelings for the other means they will soon be facing more than their fair share of issues. All the insecurities they struggle with will take the reader back to their own years in high school. It is also easy to understand the conflict Scott has with his family, particularly his father, and Derek’s inability to grasp what Scott is going through.

These two pulled me into their story from the beginning. Their relationship is not an easy one and more than once I found myself close to tears. After reading Wrestling with Desire, I decided to check out the writer’s web site and was glad to see that this is the first story in a trilogy. I can’t wait to see what the author will throw at them next and can only hope that they will continue to find their happily ever after.

Aubrey Reynolds is a dedicated man, always putting his family, job and pack before his own wants and desires. As the next Alpha in his father’s pack, he’s expected to mate and carry on the family name; except he has a problem. The visiting werewolf from New Mexico…a male werewolf is his new mate and Aubrey never planned on telling anyone he’s gay.

Leaving his brothers is difficult but Matt Mahihkan knows attending college in Atlanta is the right thing to do. When he arrives and discovers Aubrey’s his mate, he’s distressed to learn their relationship must be kept secret, instead of openly acknowledged. Can Matt remain patient until Aubrey’s ready to publicly claim him? When a rogue werewolf makes trouble, Aubrey’s forced to make a decision. Will be choose Matt and love or his pack and unhappiness?

I’ve never met a J. L. Langley book I didn’t like, which holds true for With Abandon, the great new addition to her keeper series, With or Without. Since there are numerous returning characters, I’d recommend the books be read in order for greatest plot understanding.

Matt’s a great character and I’ve loved him since his introduction in With Caution. He’s sweet, caring loving and just plain funny…and with his severe color blindness, his clothing selection choices leads to frequent chuckles. Aubrey’s personality is, at least on the surface, just the opposite. He’s tight lipped, tense, all business and too easily willing to hurt Matt’s feelings, making it a little difficult to like him for big portions of the story. Yet, those traits are his personality and Ms. Langley did a great job expressing his reasoning and determination to do what he thinks is best.

From the first page, the story grabs your attention, progressing at a nice pace. It doesn’t barrel along like a freight train, but has a nice ebb and flow that works well with its rich, complicated plot. The personalities of the characters are well rounded and the large supporting cast is nicely integrated into Matt and Aubrey’s life, tying all the loose ends together nicely.

A villain’s hiding in the wings. He’s an unexpected twist I didn’t see coming that leads to a dramatic ending that pulls in even more previous characters. Way to go Ms. Langley. If you love a well written werewolf series, this is one you have to try. You won’t be sorry you did.

Veterinarian Dae Anderson is attempting to move on with his life, after an awful final breakup with his boyfriend, Jack. Dae has problems letting Jack go, even though Jack has always been a stone around Dae’s neck. Injured in an accident, Dae’s secret is unintentionally revealed to his vet assistant, Sean. However, Dae’s dual life does not deter Sean’s love for Dae.

A Change of Heart has a well-written plot with excitement, in addition to sensual intimate scenes. The characters are believable. Dae is a successful, compassionate veterinarian with an established clinic. Dae and Jack had a tumultuous relationship that ended when Dae had finally had enough of Jack’s unfaithful behavior. Four months after their separation, Dae is still adjusting to living alone. Jack has a superficial manipulative mentality that turns vicious when he is deprived of something. Jack uses Dae’s apartment as his safe house when his recent lovers get fed up and discards him. Jack enjoys his kept man status, in addition to depending on his looks to attract lovers willing to support him.

Sean is just the opposite of Jack. He is kind, as well as hard working. Sean has secretly been in love with Dae for four years. When things go terribly wrong at the clinic, Sean unwaveringly declines to leave Dae. Kiernan Kelly has created a fantastic, exceptionally gratifying short story that I enjoyed immensely.

Change in Attitude is the sequel to Change of Heart. The well-written plot has action and suspense, as well as revelations. The characters are believable as well as exceptionally engaging. Dae is an honorable man, deeply in love with his mate Sean. Dae has not had contact with any of his family for twenty years. Dae’s first instinct was to ignore the letter. However, his wolf demanded justice. Knowing the possible danger for his human mate, Dae tries to convince Sean to stay in their Florida home.

Sean is a compassionate, loving man, as well as Dae’s veterinary assistant. Being human, Sean fears that his love is not enough for Dae, especially since Sean cannot share running in wolf form. Returning to his birth home in Wyoming, Dae soon realizes that there is more to the pack Alpha’s motives than merely protecting the pack’s identity. The sociopathic Alpha is on a mission to systematically obliterate Dae’s family, one member at a time. Kiernan Kelly has created an impressive and enjoyable saga

As a retired Drill Sergeant, Gordon’s used to giving orders and when he feels the need to spend time with a sub, he heads down to The Hammer. During a welcome back party for Oliver, Marcus and Billy introduce him to Frank, an intriguing ex-cop who’s done investigative work for several members in the past.

Frank likes the guys at the Hammer but the kinky stuff makes him uncomfortable, so he avoids the club during its active hours. His life changes in a flash when he meets Gordon and he suddenly finds himself with a partner who cares about him for more than just sex. But Frank doesn’t believe he’s like one of those little subs and isn’t certain a top like Gordon will hang around with him long term.

Push is Sean Michael’s latest look into the lives of the men who frequent the BDSM club, The Hammer, and it’s a nice addition to this series. I really enjoyed the unusual manner in which this book began -- with Gordon knowing Frank was the sub for him and Frank, just as surely, not having a clue he’s a sub.

They start off as friends and lovers and slowly move into a more intense physical relationship as Gordon pushes Frank, trying to help him deal with the emotional baggage, stress and pain he’s kept walled up inside for years. Frank pushes back just as strong, not believing he needs help…that he’s not a weak little sub needing a top taking care of him. They fight, argue and disagree but always come back to each other. They’re strong-willed, intense and passionate men and Mr. Michael does a good job slowly changing their relationship into the ‘kinky’ one Frank enjoys but denies being into.

Like any good Dom, Gordon gives Frank what he needs and that includes the time to recognize he didn’t have to be strong all the time and just because he loved and leaned on another person…it didn’t make him weak. It just gave Frank what he needed to be healthy and happy. If one thing holds true, it’s that Frank definitely isn’t a typical ‘sub’, which is probably why I like him so much, just like I’m fond of Jeremy from Forged. Read and enjoy!
