It was supposed to be his day off. The rodeo clown had paid his dues and shouldn’t have to work the Fourth of July but still Dillon finds himself working the barrel in a sweaty, smelly arena. A lesser man would question his sanity but Dillon knows exactly why he’s willing to give up his free time – a certain cowboy named Coke. Coke’s a good man who has won Dillon’s heart completely. Dillon would do anything for Coke and luckily for Dillon, Coke is more than willing to make it worth his while.

Cowboy Christmas: A Roughstock Short has instantly likable characters, made all the more believable with the vivid Rodeo setting. The descriptive prose really added to the heat between Dillon and Coke and in a short amount of time the reader is given an insight into what makes these characters tick. You can tell when reading this that the main characters as well as all the background characters mentioned in passing are stars of their own stories and this did start to get a little distracting for someone new to the author’s cowboys but I am sure that a reader more aware of the author’s work will absolutely love this short addition.

Nolan Daniels reports to Dr. Mark Harrison at the nursing home to schedule his community service hours he is required to perform. Nolan is attracted to Mark and decides to flirt; however, Mark rejects Nolan’s attempt at seduction. What Nolan does not know is that Mark’s rejection is because of business ethics rather than lack of interest. By the time Nolan’s service hours are completed, Mark reveals his intentions to Nolan in a very seductive manner, leaving Nolan with no doubts that the desirability is mutual.

Alternative Treatment is a poignant and very enjoyable romance. Both men have some heavy emotional baggage they are dealing with in their life, yet they bring balance to each other’s lives and form a relationship of contentment in the love they share for each other as well as love for their similar occupational ambitions. Claire Thompson has created a well written, heartwarming story with realistic characters to which readers can relate.

After two years of immersing herself in work as she grieves for her late husband, Jillian is determined to get her life back in order. She goes out and with the help of a friendly sales assistant, finds the perfect outfit at just the right price for the night out she has planned. With her wardrobe addition complete, she spends the day being pampered at the local spa that had been recommended to her by a friend, culminating with the most erotic massage of her life.

As soon as she set eyes on the gorgeous masseur, Daniel, she knew she was in trouble and the man more than lived up to her friend’s gushing; his touch setting her skin on fire and fanning the flames of other fires in the process - just what she needs to get herself ready for the night ahead. Now if only she could get her hands on Daniel…

The Masseur is a short story that was a pleasure to read. The development of Jillian’s character was done well and I enjoyed peeking into her life. The writing was simplistic at times but humorous and easy to read nonetheless. The pace didn’t feel rushed and the scenes between Jillian and Daniel were very erotic. The Masseur is just how I like my short stories, thrusting me into the love lives of likable characters for a moment in time and leaving me panting for more.

Noah Wiltson returns home to his apartment after making an appearance at his father’s presidential candidacy rally to find a man standing in the shadows, waiting to kill him. Noah is not surprised to learn that his father wants him dead; however, the unseen killer gives Noah an escape plan as well as security cover to help him stay alive. A few months after Noah arrives at a safe location, he meets Cain Packert, a man Noah is attracted to but his instincts tell him Cain can be dangerous. At the present Noah must discover if Cain is his savior or his enemy.

Death Or Life is a thriller where the dark personality hiding beneath the pleasant illusion can be deadly. The extremely talented T.A. Chase builds the suspense from the beginning to the end of this intriguing saga, adding a romantic interest interwoven with the decadent part of this well written and exciting plot. I truly enjoyed this enthralling story.

Hunting rogue werewolves, as an agent for the elite Argenti organization, has been Darren Summer’s job for fifteen years. At least until recently, when the leader of his Argenti family nearly killed him and thrust Darren into the arms of powerful pack Alpha, Aden Richter. Neither man can deny the overwhelming passion they feel for the other, but that doesn’t make everyday life any easier for Darren. He’s an ex-Argenti hunter and his new pack doesn’t like him and wants him gone.

When a ‘friend’ contacts him, Darren learns that there’s a major pack power struggle on the horizon and Aden and his wolves are directly in the line of fire in the pending conflict. What does that mean for Darren? What is his place in the pack, and will Aden’s wolves accept him as something other than the Alpha’s bedmate? As the tension and danger, inside and outside the pack, mounts Darren must prove himself worthy to stand by Aden’s side in the vicious battle to stop an unstable wolf bent on revenge.

On The Ragged Edge of the World is the sequel to Calendar Boys October: A Trick Of Silver by author Jamie Craig. While this well written tale is enjoyable as a stand-alone release, a much better understanding of the characters and the ongoing storyline will occur if read in the order written.

I’m not much of a gusher, but I’d be less than honest if I didn’t admit upfront that I truly enjoyed this werewolf paranormal tale. What’s not to like? It has everything needed to make a story great…intriguing primary characters, a well-paced and constructed plot, conflict, death, betrayal, deceit, outright lies, pack unrest, a couple of good fights, in and out of wolf form and earth-shattering sex between two men who can’t get enough of each other. I admit that I liked these two guys when they were first introduced as adversaries in A Trick of Silver, but I love them as a couple, watching as they struggle to work through their internal and external pack problems. Add in several great secondary characters that play vital roles and a couple of out-of-control, crazy werewolves bent on taking over and you have a story meant to take up residence in your keeper file.

This well written book is one I didn’t want to end, even while I wanted to know how the two talented authors who make up the Jamie Craig writing team were going to do just that. Ladies, this reader would love to see another release showing how Darren, Aden and the packs cope with the mess left behind by Oliver and Paul. Hint….Hint!

Aimee McAllister is a thirty-five year old virgin with a lot of responsibility on her plate. Over the years, she has put her own life on hold more than once, but she accepts this without bitterness. As an author, Aimee’s lack of sexual experience hinders her from taking her writing to the next level, so Aimee decides to take steps to rectify this situation with something unorthodox.

For years, Darius has been matching people successfully through Executive Decisions. When Aimee walks into his office, Darius is stumped for the first time in his life. Sure, she asked for a weekend of raw sex with two men but Darius sensed that she needed more than that, and he wanted to make sure she got it. Sending Yusuf, his business partner, was the only logical choice Darius could come up with. There was no man more perfect for this special job than Yusuf. As much as Darius felt this was the right thing to do, why couldn’t he get his heart to agree with his head?

Aimee is nervous and confused but that doesn’t last long, once she meets Yusuf. When Yusuf lays eyes on Aimee, he realizes that Darius didn’t make a mistake by sending him on this weekend trip. Darius pops in on the couple and adds an entirely different twist that changes all their lives forever.

A weekend of research turns into romance for three in Executive Decisions: Research Only. Aimee, Darius, and Yusuf all pulled at my heart strings, but for different reasons. If I had to choose between the men as a mate for Aimee, I would never have been able to pick just one. Together, they made the perfect man for Aimee and I was genuinely happy about that. Aimee had devoted so much of herself to her family out of love that I nearly wept when these two men showed her the kind of love that she was missing. Their story brings hope to the multitude of women who have missed out on life because of reality getting in the way, and I am praying Marteeka Karland continues this fantastic series with a follow-up story.

Taylor Jax has been warding off Shane Griffin’s advances for a long time. Sure, she’s attracted to him. Who wouldn’t be? He is one fine example of the male form and in the time she’s gotten to know him as a customer in her store, he seems a great guy too. He’s just too young for Taylor and she fears that if she gives in to him, he’ll get bored with her eventually. She can’t risk her heart getting broken but her concerns don’t stop her fantasies; fantasies her friends are trying very hard to help make a reality.

After a game of Truth or Dare, Taylor finds herself in an adult store with a list of goodies to purchase in order to make her fantasies come true. Does Taylor have it in her to let go of her worries and seduce the secret man of her dreams? Shane has faith that it will only be a matter of time before Taylor sees how perfect they are for each other and when she finally caves in, he’s going to be more than ready to step up to the plate.

One Tasty Night is the sequel to Mistletoe Studs and focuses the attention on Shane’s pursuit of his dream woman, while his brother Brad’s escapades with Meg having been the subject of the previous book. Ever since Shane mentioned his feelings for the older woman Taylor in the first book, I was intrigued and so was excited to see a sequel had been written. I wasn’t disappointed as the anticipation, eroticism and satisfaction was all there. The chemistry between Taylor and Shane was well written as I could easily believe that they had known each other for a while and that the mutual attraction had been bubbling away nicely the whole time. The “interruption” of characters from the first book during the pair’s first date was nice and added to Taylor and Shane’s building frustration. When they do finally get to explore their feelings – phew – it’s going to be One Tasty Night that might just make both of them realize how much they’ve been missing.

Growing up with a religious zealot for a father wasn’t easy, which explained why Craig Robertson left home after the discovery of his underage gay affair. He moved to London, changed his name and got on with his life, becoming a small-time actor and model. His life changes for the second time, when an old neighbor notifies him that his estranged father has disappeared. Lucky for Craig, his new lover, Paul Maloney, is a private detective and he agrees to accompany him to his hometown to help in the search.

Going home is difficult, dredging up painful memories of an abusive childhood after the sudden disappearance of his mother when he was six. As the search progresses, they learn that his long-ago lover, Michael, has been missing since the day they were discovered. It’s clear there are gaps in Craig’s memory, leading him to suspect that there’s something in his past he doesn’t want to remember.

When Craig confesses to Paul his fear that Michael is dead and that he’s responsible, Paul refuses to believe his lover is a murderer. As Craig’s hunt for the truth turns to obsession, the lovers new and fragile relationship begins to fall apart, leaving him to search on his own. Alone and being stalked, Craig must face the terrors of his past, and hope he can survive to have a future.

The Bones of Summer by Anne Brooke is a complicated and intriguing tale of a man struggling to cope with his life in the aftermath of a painful and difficult childhood, lived with a cold, hard and uncaring religiously fanatical father. On first impression, this complex story might appear to be overwhelmed with fear, pain and angst and while that’s partly true, it’s not the whole truth. It’s also the story of Craig and Paul, finding each other, and the passion, love, desire and friendship that builds between them, despite their individual painful pasts, hidden secrets and lies.

Emotions run high throughout the story and both men break down in tears on more than one occasion or verbally clash, saying hateful, vicious things to each other. Other times the sex is hot and passionate. In truth, they are often at odds, despite how they feel for one another and the search for Craig’s father and his fear of what might have happened only strain an already fragile relationship. So, while at heart The Bones of Summer is a story of Craig and Paul, the fuel that propels the story forward, and causes most of their problems, is Craig’s father, his missing ex-lover and his fear of what he might have done that summer, seven years ago.

The father in this tale is a true ‘bay guy’. A fanatic so certain that what he thinks justifies his actions. I have to admit that Ms. Brooke caught me off guard when his disappearance turned into a stalking of his estranged son. Take it from me. This man is crazy, but makes a great villain, perfect for hating.

It’s not all doom and gloom though. Craig has periods where a wicked sense of humor pokes through, and he says something that makes me chuckle. This is particularly true when he spouts his self-created Gay Rules. He’s also, deep down, an optimist man who hopes for a happy and successful future.

Kelly Kendall wears many hats but he tries to keep securely under his hat the fact that he is the author of Doorways. He’s not ashamed of his book, he just prefers his anonymity and solitude above all else. That’s destined to change when a bet with his houseboy, Will, goes south and Kelly has to pay the price of writing a satirized version entitled Windows. What he didn’t count on was it being read by Jae-sun Fields.

Tabloid reporter Jae-sun Fields is out for blood when he reads Windows. The coming-of-age novel was part of his pinnacle to his own coming out, and he cannot believe a man corrupted what he deems a sacred piece of literature. In fact, he truly believes the culprit is a woman and is ready to out her, by any means necessary.

Soon Jae learns she is truly a he and he has multiple identities to go with his severe case of OCD. But there is still more to learn and when Kelly discovers Jae is snooping, it cuts him to the quick. There is still a great deal to learn about Kelly. Will Jae keep his confidence or will he teach Kelly a lesson about mistrust?

Z.A. Maxfield’s ePistols At Dawn takes us into a cyberworld battle that changes into a real world love affair. Jae is not your average Korean man. His stature alone is heads over the competition but his sharp mind is what will keep you in his company. His conviction over the story and not having a book that touched his life proves he’s a man you wouldn’t want to wage war against. Kelly has more quirks than most could endure, but his wit, giving nature and warmth made him a man Jae wanted to get to know. The men are as opposite as they are alike. While their physical make up is as different as night and day, their love of literature and brilliance seemed parallel. Watching Jae not only embrace Kelly and his quirks without reservation had me smiling. He could have decided the author was too much trouble but Jae saw the true prize covered by insecurities, waiting to be claimed and loved.

Z.A. Maxfield brings the subject of debilitating medical issues such as OCD into this story, along with ethics that some in the reporting field seem to overlook, to the forefront in ePistols At Dawn. However, it’s the subjects of unconditional love, learning to trust, and recognizing true friends as well as embracing friendship that seemed to draw me into this story. I found the story balanced and between the comical conversations and steamy scenes between Kelly and Jae, I couldn’t put this book down. This is definitely a credit to the author’s vast literary works. Readers of the genre will not be disappointed!

Musician Adrian is looking for a new bodyguard after the last one had the nerve to steal from him. The negative effect his fame is having on other people is starting to get Adrian down and he doesn’t hold out much hope for the potential protectors lining up for an interview. He certainly wasn’t expecting the gorgeous, down-to-earth Duke to walk through the door and show him a small glimmer of hope. Somewhat shy and nervous but more than willing to reach out and grab what he wants from life, Duke intrigues Adrian. Add to this the reaction Duke is stirring within Adrian’s body and it looks like this is going to be one thorough interview.

The premise of Adrian looking for some substance in a materialistic culture caught my attention, as did Duke’s longing for someone in the public eye but I wish these were explored further in Audition. The introduction was well written, the two characters revealing themselves in the setting of an interview was nicely done. However, the steady pace that was set early on seemed pushed to the wayside to indulge in a somewhat unsatisfying sex scene that occurred too soon, before the foundations of the characters were set in stone and unfortunately the eroticism suffered because of this. A very good start with a lot of promise but unfortunately the quality suffered towards the end.

Lady Jane Roseblood is a notorious adventuress in Victorian England and sex at the top of her list of things to do. She’s read the Eastern Arts of the Bed Chamber at a young age, and knows about the esoteric sect who practices orgies. But if there is a mystery to be solved, you can expect to see Lady Jane there working on the case and she keeps her own council. Now, she’s faced with trying to find out why her two friends, Lord Faversham, and Sylvia Cottingly disappeared while on an Egyptian dig. She meets the Detective Inspector Stoker at the British Museum by accident, on a visit to an old friend. They instantly become partners in solving the mysterious burglary cases of several wealthy homes in London.

Lady Jane and the Egyptian Curse is not a story you would expect from the English society. I was quite surprised the more I read about Lady Jane’s adventures, and the fact that her father never even tried to stop her, but financed her independence instead. She is a little too bold with her life by having sex, with males or females whenever it pleased her, and it was very interesting how she lifts the curse. This young lady is a nymphomaniac and never seems to be satisfied for long. The inspector is devoted to his job, and did a wonderful job of solving his cases.

Ms. Le Brocq has done a fantastic job of telling about ancient Egyptian times, and what could happen to someone if one they are not respectful of other cultures. I can only hope that she writes more about Lady Jane and Inspector Stoker’s, whether working together, or apart.

Master Ian isn’t into the public scenes offered at fetish clubs, but one look at sub Kale Daniels, a favorite among the Onyx club crowd, and Ian wants to know Kale. Kale is no ordinary submissive and needs a special kind of Master who will understand his desires and needs and turn them into reality. Has Master Ian found his new submissive, or will Kale decide he just wants the play?

Mychael Black and Shayne Carmichael’s Onyx takes us into the world of BDSM and the first meeting of Ian and Kale. The scenes are intense between the men. Ian shows his skills as a Master and his caring nature as a man. Kale is smart, handsome and his response leave Ian’s eyeteeth aching for more. The authors have a way of creating a story filled with stimuli while balancing it with messages about trust and respect. The characters personalities pop and make them feel like old friends while their fears whispered to me through their actions and conversations. Most think of Masters as strong individuals with honed control, but understanding Ian’s worries made him more appealing to me. I’m looking forward to seeing where Ian and Kale’s adventure takes them.

Kale Daniels never thought he would find someone who saw past his disability. He wanted a man with the ability to understand his kinks and help him safely explore them; one he could call friend, lover and Master. He found that in Master Ian and a great deal more. Kale found love.

Ian knows there is more to Kale than his lack of sight. He books a private playroom at a new club and decides to let Kale feel what he can’t see. Will Ian give Kale what he’s been hoping for?

Mychael Black’s The Next Step takes us back into the lives of Master Ian and Kale, the characters from Onyx. The couple has spent six months getting to know each other, and their actions and reactions allow you to feel their close bond. Ian loves Kale’s trust; Kale loves Ian’s ability to treat him as a man and not an invalid. They have a balanced relationship regardless of the fact that Kale is no ordinary sub. The Next Step has a few wonderful messages on trust, love, consideration, and safe play mixed in with some very spicy scenes. The settings add a wonderful dimension to the story, allowing you to focus on the interaction between Kale and Ian. The story is definitely worth a read or two, and I recommend it to those who have a gay BDSM fetish.

Never Leave Me (4.5 Nymphs)
Reaver started hunting demons at the young age of sixteen, and he can’t tolerate helplessness in others; people who will not fight for themselves. When he comes upon a girl that killed two demons and she is shocked into speechless, he wants nothing to do with her. This girl is able to invade Reaver’s dreams, learning everything about him, and showing him what kind of person she is. Now that he has taken her where she can get help, he feels as if he’s finished his job, allowing him to get on with his lonely life. These two characters develop a hot sexual relationship on their travels together, and bond more than he thought could happen to him.

Duty & the Beast (4.5 Nymphs)
In denial of her Werewolf heritage, Sofie, a police officer, continues to say that she is human and that she doesn’t believe in the paranormal. She is working on a case about a vampire murder and calls in a consultant, who is an Elf. Sofie is determined to keep their relationship a working one, and eventually has to acknowledge her true feelings. Finn is an irresistible elf, and draws sexual attention from all. When he meets Sofie, and finds that she only wants to work on a case with him, he was disappointed.

Unholy Trinity (4.5 Nymphs)
This is a story about what can happen to you when you put your trust in others and are betrayed most of the time. Paige is having a hard time trusting anyone, thanks to her Mother’s years of betrayals. Now she has Jamie as a best friend, and not a boyfriend, but he’s in love with her. While on an archeological dig, Paige encounters a Vampire, Rafael, who happens to be Jamie’s boss. Rafael goes too far with Paige as they are having sex, and in his crazed state of mind rips out her throat. These three become lovers and after their emotions go from being angry to acceptance, they find a budding bond that will last forever.

Maneater (4.5 Nymphs)
It’s really hard being a siren, along with being able to change into a six-foot eagle with a human head, and she has the dating skills of a praying mantis by eating the men after sex. Chloe manages to get away from her mother and aunts and heads to Las Vegas, to live her own life, away from them. While checking into her hotel, she sees Alexius, whose parents were a human and a God. He’s being paid to follow Chloe, and to keep her occupied until he turns her over to be part of a harem. The outcome of this story is not what I expected, but even better.

Sundown International (Collection) is just a fascinating as the previous books written by Cat Marsters that I’ve read. All four stories are beautifully written with a lot of mystery, steaming sex, and murders. I was pleased with all of the history that was given, telling me the background of each character. I want to say here that I really enjoyed every moment reading Ms. Marsters books, and I’m anxiously awaiting the publication of the next one.

When Loren signed on with OTR truck driver training, they didn’t explain the hazard of becoming stranded in the middle of nowhere. However, sometimes being left behind can lead to blessings or in Loren’s case, the leather-clad man of his dreams.

Bad Dawg is a member of the Prairie Dawgs, and fresh out of heartbreak hotel. His past love interest had other ideas for where he would play hide-the-salami. He may be a vegan when it comes to consumption but when it comes to carnal desires, BD wants nothing but Grade A meat to fulfill those needs. Moreover, if he hasn’t missed his guess, Loren has a prize just aching for BD to unwrap.

The men hit it off nicely, and believe this is just a one-night stand. Are they right or has BD finally found his mate?

Lena Austin dresses romance up in leather and places it firmly on a '69 Shovelhead in Bad Dawg. I could feel the vibrations coursing through my body, and if the adult toy industry could manufacture it, Duracell would have to create a stronger battery. Loren is a man who knows his own mind. Seeing BD and his motorcycle gave him hope to fulfill a few fantasies. BD notices something in Loren, besides the surprise behind zipper number one, and wants to take the time to get to know him. I knew from their first moments of eye contact that every good intention to be neighborly would fly out of the window. The attraction was molten hot, and wouldn’t wait for them to get to know each other. Bad Dawg definitely brings us some erotic moments that would incite bathroom renovations, but it also delivers a message about love, hope, acceptance, and lending a helping hand. I loved BD’s giving spirit and his openness. He was just the type of man Loren deserved. From the way the story ended, I can only hope we will see BD and Loren in the near future.

Kiya White Cloud left his home in South Dakota to attend college in California. Hoping to mix a little pleasure with business, he doesn’t always make the right choices until he meets one of the sexy teaching assistants in his bio class. Although getting his degree is important to Kiya, he also hopes to find a strong lasting relationship.

Brian knows that dating a student is against school policy but where Kiya is concerned, he just can’t help himself. As a faewolf however, Brian has more important things to worry about. He is hoping to find out how to save the clans from extinction. Unfortunately, this has cut him off from his pack and Brian fears becoming a lone wolf.

The authors do a wonderful job portraying a cocky, insecure young man trying to find his way in the world. Kiya's struggle to break from an abusive ex, his insecurity in starting a new relationship and the deep love he feels for Brian are evident to the reader. With the character Brian, the authors give the reader a completely new look into the world of werewolves. His struggle to save the clans not only leaves him cut off from his pack, but also makes him an outsider with the humans around him, something the authors portray in such a way that it helps pull the reader right into the story.

Faewolf, the first book in a series by these two authors, is an exceptionally good story. Authors D.M. Atkins and Chris Taylor take a theme millions of readers are familiar with and turns it around with the introduction of faewolves - creatures who are part fae and part wolf. Their story of two young men, each searching for something, will take the reader on an interesting journey. Readers should be forewarned however, that there are scenes of dubious consent and sex in shifter form.

That is until Warren comes into the clearing for her, and it has her facing the decisions she made a century ago.

An expert huntsman, Warren Cutter decides that he has had enough of living from moment to moment and tracks down Elana in the woods. This is after turning down many women over the thirty years of his life. He wants to show her that he’s loved her for a long time while hunting her and that they can be happy together. All he can do is wait for her to choose what will be their future.

Seasons Of Fantasy: Spring Maiden is a short story telling of a maiden running away from her future. Here we have a young lady of importance not wanting to change her way of life by a forced marriage. This leads to a change in Elana’s lifestyle that is not expected by her, or the lonely life she lives. I am very proud of the fact that Warren is able to overcome his instincts to kill and show Elana that she is able to make choices that will affect them both. Ms. Dionne did a fantastic job of telling of enchantment, and the magic of love.

Don’t Look Back

Peter Killian is the curator at Constantine House in Los Angeles. When he wakes up in the hospital, he hurts all over and doesn’t have any recollection of what happened the night before or who he is. He certainly doesn’t remember stealing a tenth century Chinese mural even though the police, in the form of handsome Detective Mike Griffin, have accused him of doing just that. Then he learns that several other pieces of expensive art have disappeared over the previous few months. Of one thing Peter’s certain; he would never steal from the museum. He also can’t explain the attraction he feels for a man who wants him behind bars and why does that same man play such a prominent part in his dreams? Vivid, erotic dreams filled with hot, sweaty sex.

Don’t Look Back is the latest release by talented, multi-published author Josh Lanyon. It begins in true attention-catching Lanyon fashion with Peter in pain and stumbling toward the house, his hands covered in his own blood. After reading this opening scene, there isn’t any way that you don’t want to read further to find out what’s going on, with not only Peter and his amnesia but the theft, as well.

As is usual for Mr. Lanyon, he’s created a gripping story filled with intriguing characters, interesting interpersonal connections and a pace that keeps you moving anxiously from page to page. I freely admit I loved the amnesia angle of the story and how Peter slowly recovered bits and pieces of his memory. The sad part was the realization of how few friends he had and how regimented and lonely his life appeared to be. Then there’s the initial uncertainly of his relationship to Mike, and his unsettled long-term association with his married friend, Cole. All of these things make Don’t Look Back a thoroughly enjoyable read.

There might not be any murders in this tightly written novella, but there are plenty of other things to keep you guessing on what’s going to happen next: intrigue, self-discovery, betrayal, deceit, love, passion, desire, and several unsuccessful attempts on Peter’s life. Oh, and let’s not forget Peter’s unexpected termination from a job he loves.

In my opinion, the only thing that would have made this story better, would have been if I knew more about Mike, the outwardly stiff and unforgiving detective. I missed not knowing what he was feeling and thinking, and for me that information would have rounded out the plot into near perfection.

Calvin and Adam are spending all their time together living and loving, as they struggle to get the ranch ready for the coming influx of hunters intent of bagging a wild boar during one of Calvin’s hunting tours. They’re also working on a plan that would bring unsettled or disturbed veterans to the Texas ranch, allowing them the peace and quiet needed to heal from the problems they’ve brought home from overseas. Since it worked for Adam, they figure it would work for other men as well, and they’re determined to do all they can to help.

They have more than just the ranch and their recovery plans to deal with; there’s also their ever-changing and growing personal relationship. Then there’s Adam’s father, Billy. When he drops in at the ranch unexpectedly, he’s unhappy to find that his old friend, Calvin has become his twenty-one year-old son’s lover.

Recovery Ranch by CB Potts is the sequel to the shorter Spurs and Saddle release Recovery. This relationship is a true May/December romance, there being twenty-eight years between seasoned Calvin and the much younger and less experienced Adam. Ms. Potts does a nice job describing this gentle tale of love, growing and learning, as well as showing the mutual uncertainly of whether their love will last. Adam is afraid Calvin won’t want him for the long haul, and Calvin is afraid Adam will tire of him, finding love with someone closer to his own age.

The tale is set in the Texas backcountry and most of the time Calvin and Adam have only each other for companionship. That these two dissimilar men enjoy spending so much time together, should have been a telling sign that their relationship was rock solid. My favorite parts of the story were the boar hunting scenes, whether with Calvin and Adam alone, or those that included the troubled veterans. These scenes truly show the ability of the men to love and work together successfully, and Ms. Potts is spot-on in her heartfelt writing.

I’d love to know what Adam wrote to his mother, and I hope to find out in a future release featuring these two intriguing men.

Stacy is investigating her friend’s death even though she has been ordered off the case by her captain. She was one of six women who died after taking a new “drug” that is hitting the club scene, four of whom had been seen at the Coven.

Jason and Vincent are trying to find out who is using their club as a distribution point and do not want to have the police investigating, especially when they find out that the “drug’ is actually a mix of three different vampire’s blood mixed with silver.

Deadly Crimson is an intense suspense story, with half the book intense sex between Stacy, Jason and Vincent. Throw in two sexy wizards, Vampires and a club scene and you get the wonderful world that Ms. Michaels has created in this book. I kept having to go for ice after reading the different sex scenes but she does a wonderful job of keeping you on your toes during the investigation. You don’t get a clue who the bad guy is until close to the end of the book.

Warden Jensen Black has no explanation of why or how several of the international cyber-criminals housed in the newly renovated Alcatraz prison facility have died, all in gruesome and bloody ways, so he seeks out the investigatory help of a parapsychologist recommended by his boss. The help he gets is sexy green-eyed Brian Phipps, a man whose size and good looks pushes all his buttons. Jensen never planned to fall for the quiet and gentle man but his heart refuses to be denied. Before they can fully explore their growing feelings, the ghosts come knocking, putting Brian in ever-increasing danger, and making both men wonder if they will get off the island alive.

Ghosts of Alcatraz is the newest release by multi-published author Carol Lynne. Once again, she’s created a well-written and plotted story that kept my interest from beginning to end. This one had the unexpected twists of a newly renovated and reopened ultimate prison on the infamous and dangerous Alcatraz Island. From a historical viewpoint, I’ve always been fascinated by the prison, so finding a story that combined both it and a few marauding ghosts, immediately made it a must read for me.

Ms. Lynne has packed a lot of story into this novella length release. You’ll find a great plot, believable characters, gruesome murders, panicked prisoners, out of control vengeful spirits and an intense and growing love between Jensen and Brian. This intriguing story is equally weighted in the romance versus suspense components, which in this particular case is understandable. After all, the deadly ghosts and the re-opened prison are the reasons for Jensen and Brian to find each other, and it’s what propels the story forward.

I liked these two men and I have to admit to being surprised at Jensen’s ready admission that he needed a parapsychologist to solve his problem and stop the killings. It’s just not a reaction you’d expect from a no-nonsense, ex-military man, who happens to be a prison warden. On the other hand, I expected the reluctance of his boss and friend, Fisher, to remove everyone from the rock, despite the deaths and continued danger. (It has to be a buck-passing bureaucracy, bury you head in the sand kind of thing.) I don’t really want to reveal too many story details, so all I can say is, give this ghost story a try, you won’t be sorry you did.

I understand that there’s going to be a sequel in the future, featuring Fisher, and tentatively titled The Claiming of Patrick Donnelly. I for one can’t wait to see what Ms. Lynne does next.

Not to mention Michael has issues with the Hell Cops style of bringing criminals to justice. Photojournalist James Sparks is having some trouble in paradise with his lover Detective Ben Moran. Moran wants James to stop taking risks and James wants Moran to trust in his abilities. An assignment to the exotic Storm Palace seems like the perfect remedy to escaping his troubles, until James witnesses a murder. Moran discovers there is more to the death and believes that James has yet again immersed in danger. Will Moran solve the case and save his lover, or will James finally met his demise?

Hell Cop 2 is a fantastic sequel with all of our favorite characters back and ready for action. They’ve all had time to develop their relationships and hone their skills to become better police officers. They’re still as tough and reliable as ever, but now love has factored into play and Hell have no fury like a Hell Cop in love! All of the stories depict a murder mystery. The settings are perfect for each story, blending elements to create vivid scenes that draw you into the story. Some of the characters abilities have evolved while others share those we didn’t witness in the first installment. Their capacity for loving their partners has blossomed, adding a romantic element. If any one story grabbed my attention, it was Trust Me. Jay touched my heart when I witnessed some of the demons from his past finally laid to rest and I found myself misty over a long awaited conversation. The anthology has humor, heart-wrenching moments, erotically stimulating play, and suspenseful episodes that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I’m falling in love with the residents of Parmas City.

Demon hunter Salter is having difficulty getting a lead on a really vicious demon known as the Tail, so he locates Tony, a mild-mannered demon who gathers information. Salter and Tony both prefer to work alone. However, the hunt requires the skills that they each have power over. During their pursuit of the Tail, Salter and Tony develop an attraction for each other that is not only a surprise to them, but satisfying too.

Chasing Tail is an intriguing and humorous story. Lorne Rodman has created an impressive short story with very sensual love scenes, in addition to amusing interaction between the characters. I greatly enjoyed this saga.

The Zinah Anleeh is going back to his home country of Den to negotiate a treaty for the King and Queen. Anleeh has worked hard to control himself and to leave his “beast” behind.

Siara volunteered to accompany Anleeh to Den so she can document Den’s culture for the library at the Temple. Anleeh is not pleased about this because Siara will have to learn some harsh lessons if they are to survive their visit to Den. Siara has to learn to be completely obedient to Anleeh. Without it, they both may be attacked and possibly not survive.

Savage is a wonderful second story about the Zinahs. Ms. Dubois creates a beautiful but barbaric society with her words. This journey brings both Siara and Anleeh closer together and the sex between them requires cold showers as Siara learns about her role in Den. Siara slowly sheds her reserve to become a fitting mate to Anleeh. I resented being interrupted while reading, as I did not want to put this book down. The ending was a very pleasant surprise. I am holding my breath for the rest of this series.

Leo Deets is a fair man who doesn’t play games when it comes to a man’s livelihood. When he sees Koffe Collins, he can’t help but offer the man a job. Being fired for poor work is one thing, but as a show of power is something entirely different. Their attraction is mutual and as their friendship grows, the resentment of Koffe’s former employer gains momentum. Koffe knows Leo is hiding a secret, and Leo is unsure of how Koffe will react, but one thing is sure – Leo has no desire to have a life without Koffe being a part of it.

Brenda Bryce’s Koffe with Cream takes us to a small town where one wrong word could make it difficult to put food on the table. Koffe never expected to be in his current predicament, and refused to look a gift horse in the mouth. Leo felt their mutual attraction and rejected rushing Koffe into a sexual relationship. The two interact well, with very few awkward moments. Their conversations are relaxed and their chemistry builds steadily to volcanic proportions. I would have loved to discover the fate of their naissance and feel that would have been a special bonus for this story. Overall, I found Koffe with Cream to be entertaining. The tale has elements of humor, suspense, romance, and is a wonderful story about second chances, finding true love and most importantly, unequivocal trust and acceptance.

When Boaz “Bo” McKenzie’s parents die tragically, he finds himself the newly appointed head of his family ranch. His bible-verse-spouting Nana Dori gives him no peace of mind and insists he run after his Alzheimer suffering Grandpa as Nana swears Boaz is the only one who can keep him in line.

Boaz’s siblings and cousins all conveniently disappear when it comes time for work. Boaz has slaved for so long keeping the ranch running that he has no life other than sun-up, sun-down chores and chasing after Grandpa. Until the night he decides to catch a little filly of his own to take his mind off his troubles.

Sommer St. Claire is a divorce attorney from California taking a vacation at a dude ranch in Texas. She’s always been prim and proper but has a wild side that has haunted her, begging to be explored, for years.

A bet with a friend places Sommer directly in the arms of Boaz McKenzie, the one man who can unleash her daring side and coax enough courage and abandonment from her prim soul to explore all her fantasies.

Can Boaz lasso the woman he has literally branded as his own and convince her to stay for the long haul or will she forget about him after returning to California?

I found Restrain Me a wonderful exploration of human sexuality and love. It shows that we can explore our darkest fantasies and still respect one another in the process. Boaz and Sommer find out that with the right person, one’s limits can be stretched, tested and blown apart to open another world of deep, dark desires.

I loved the way the intensity of their encounters built to a fabulous crescendo. From now on when I see a cowboy or divorce lawyer, I will think of Boaz and Sommer and wonder what dark inhibitions run beneath. A sizzling hot read indeed!
