Research is essential for college professor Wesley, not only
for the class he teaches, it is also essential for the book he is writing. However, someone has hired Jack to stop the
progress of Wesley’s research. Fortunately for Wesley, Jack chose not to follow
through with the job he was hired to do.
Charming Monsters is a dark short story. The plot is
an unforeseen psychological mystery. The standard line between good and evil is
distorted to the point that the reader cannot immediately identify the monster.
Wesley and Jack are both obsessed with fear, pain and brutal murders. The story
exhibits rape, as well as torture. Overall, I enjoyed the building suspense
illustrated.
