No hope, no escape and no future, these are the certainties of life in the penal colonies. Two of the residents have found a little bit of solace through their love, Drayce Eth, a DNA creation and Crispen Wills, a human born in the prison.

Combustible is part of the Pandemonia series. The theme is all of Earth becomes a prison system, controlled by scientific researchers who experiment on humans. In this episode, Crispen becomes a tool to be used against Drayce. However, Crispen and Drayce joined together to fight the Nucleate rather than submit.

The series, taken as a whole, is gloomy; Pandemonia is a prison for the political prisoners, whose only crime was that they dissatisfied a scientist’s attempt to de-humanize them into becoming an obedient pet.

Because of the dismal setting, the characters simply exist, devoid of any growth. The premise of the plot is forebodingly out of the ordinary, but I am not a fan of bleak storylines without any possibility of justice or positive expectations.
