Present Day, Jesse Shigeta returns home after being away at college. Jesse is anxious to share his news with his friend Tomo, who is really the ghost of Kiyoshi. Jesse has the ability to see past the normal plane of reality and he is the only one who can see Kiyoshi. A gifted musical student, Jesse has been accepted at Ryuhei Nakamura’s school in Tokyo. Finding a way to transport the ghost, Jesse intends to unite Kiyoshi with Ryuhei but after meeting Ryuhei, Jesse decided that he wanted the vampire for himself. Learning of Jesse’s betrayal, Kiyoshi becomes enraged with jealousy, destroying Ryuhei’s penthouse and almost killing Jesse. Jesse also becomes jealous when Ryuhei, who has been mourning the lost of Kiyoshi, leaves him. Jesse seeks out the ghost hunters to destroy Kiyoshi’s ghost, hoping that Ryuhei will return his love.
Lost Souls is Book Three in the Blood Brothers series. The extraordinary Barbara Sheridan and Anne Cain takes the readers on Kiyoshi’s journey, from his mortal life and love, to his renewal of brotherly bonds with Liu and his immortal love with Ryuhei. Despite the chaos they endured through the centuries, the bond of love remained strong. Lost Souls is fascinating and has an emotional plot with incredible characters that were no longer part of the mortal world but preserved their mortal hearts. I enjoyed the Blood Brothers series immensely.
