Atticus Maxwell has lived for centuries, alone and miserable, waiting and hoping to someday meet the woman meant to be his other half…and he’s just about given up hope of finding her. Things change when he unexpectedly decides to take a shuttle to a nearly resort and he meets an intriguing woman, Lissa, who changes his life. The crash of their bus sends it rolling down a slippery mountain slope, leaving them the only survivors. It also gives Atticus a purpose for the first time in years; save the fascinating woman who has captured his attention and given him hope.
Lissa takes the shuttle up the mountain to attend a conference in hopes of finding a job. It’s on the bus that she meets a gorgeous man who sets all her psychic abilities on high alert, and makes her heart beat in triple time. Instead of a job, what she gets is a bruised and battered body after she survives the crash of their bus, and when she wakes, finds herself in the arms of the attractive stranger. But the truly amazing revelation is that her rescuer is a vampire enforcer and he needs her blood in order to heal not only himself, but Lissa as well.
Atticus is all that you could want in a romantic lead; wise, mysterious, intriguing, handsome and sexy as sin. Add in his endearing protective qualities and you have the type of hero any woman could easily fall in love with. Lissa is the woman who Atticus has waited centuries for, and she makes the perfect counterpoint to the darkness that rules his life and his soul. Her ready acceptance of his dark, brooding nature only endears her to him more. Their love is fresh, new and enduring, and strong enough to last through eternity.
One and Only is the first book in Ms. D’Arc’s Brotherhood of Blood trilogy, but it’s just the beginning of several interconnected books that follow characters who are introduced in this well-written, sexy paranormal romance. After reading this fast-paced novella, I can’t wait to get my hands on the remaining books in this large series arc. Watch for the next book by this talented author with the release of Rare Vintage, and get acquainted with more of Ms. D’Arc’s great secondary characters
This book has been previously released with another publisher under the same title, and has been substantially revised and expanded.
