During the reign of Henry VIII and his bid to free England from the church’s political rule, the abbey where James Hallbeck served as a monk was destroyed. With his life in ruins, James returns to his older brother’s home. Forced back into the genteel world, James meets a nobleman named Richard. Even with obstacles, James and Richard find love and pleasure with each other.
Reconstruction is a story of coming to terms with life changes. As the second surviving son, James has lived a sheltered life at the abbey, then after four years back in society; James has the opportunity to join an abbey in France, but the thoughts of leaving Richard causes a change of heart. Richard is a kind and loving man who will do anything for James, even at the risk of his own happiness. GS Wiley has created an interesting and enjoyable romance set in the turbulent times of England’s severance from the Pope.
