John Anderson has no room to make errors in his life. Being an outlaw, John knows if he trusts the wrong person, he could find himself on the end of a hanging rope or incarcerated. However, encountering Will Connors makes John work towards a better life.

Will has his own troubles, and heartache to match. John reenters his life when Will needs him the most and their friendship grows into a relationship unlike any Will has ever experienced. Soon the men discover there is a happily-ever-after waiting at the End of the Trail.

Jane Elliot’s new western romance was a fantastic read. Will and John are both wonderful characters. Will knew John’s background but still found a way not to judge the man by his past, but by how he treated Will and those he loved. John’s past made him into the man he was, but it couldn’t destroy his heart. And the man truly had a beautiful heart. Even with all that Will was going through, he tried to keep him in good spirits and never made him feel less of a man. I was shocked by the condition he found him in when he returned, but was even more surprised at John’s ability to step in and become the friend and lover Will deserved.

The author did a wonderful job capturing the period, creating a beautiful and sometimes harsh setting, and creating characters that drew me into the story. I found End of the Trail to be a wonderfully written story and hope to read more from Ms. Elliot in the near future.
