Ed is expecting nothing more for his forty-ninth birthday than a stiff drink and hopefully, a round of anonymous sex in the back room of Yancy's Crossings. However, Ed’s plan for the evening changes when two young men, Ryan and Kyle, desire to spend a night of lovemaking with Ed.

May Day is a well constructed short story with an interesting storyline. The characters exhibit realistic emotions. At his age, Ed feels that Ryan and Kyle were altogether out of his league. Ed would be hard-pressed to keep up with just one of them. Kyle is brash as well as the spokesman for Ryan who is quiet and more emotionally in need of an empathetic lover. Ed loved kissing and both Kyle and Ryan are great kissers. Bryl R. Tyne has created an enjoyable saga with a hint of a future together for the three men.
