Nanette can do things with fire and ends up volunteering for the Volunteer Project.  She is sent to a Guardian world to be the one to do repairs when there are disasters.  Rand also has a like power and can’t get the new person out of his mind.

The latest story in the Terran Times Second Wave series, Molten, picks up on the same world from Mandate.  There are different disasters that seem to be regular occurrences on the planet, so Nanette is assigned to be the one to repair things on the planet, whether it be with stone or metal.

Nanette and Rand meet again at a festival, but even though they have great chemistry, Rand puts his foot in his mouth.  It is only after another disaster that they finally get together, where they heat things up literally and figuratively.

The other Guardians make appearances, along with some delightful young ladies.  I had to laugh at Rand’s mother’s reaction to something Nanette did when they were first introduced. 

I am looking forward to seeing what the next book in this series holds, and wonder if it will be about the last Guardian on this particular planet.
