Twice the Cowboy (4.5 Nymphs)

Jess Graff has participated in the El Paso International Rodeo for four years and has never come across a cowboy like Manuel Santos Fuentes. Smooth fluid lines and the grace of a dancer, Manuel stirs desires in Jess from the first glance.

Manuel knew he wanted Jess in his bed, and was prepared to take the ride of his life. He sets the ball in motion with a few subtle hints at a local bar. Jess watches him compete the next day and is enthralled. When Manuel is injured in the El Paso de la Muerte, Jess takes him back to his hotel for a bit of R&R. It’s clear from the time they enter the room that rest is the furthest thing from either cowboy’s mind.

From family feuds to a road trip to Mexico, Twice the Cowboy is a fantastic read. Manuel is drop dead gorgeous, but wants to be loved for his inner beauty, not his outer charms. Jess is the take-charge type of man who will never leave a friend stranded. The two lovers work together to regain Menuel’s prized possession and cement their new found feelings of love. The sex gives new definition to the phrase “rode hard and put away wet”.

Twice the Ride (4.5 Nymphs)

Jess and Manuel have decided to give their relationship a try. Jess now has a new dilemma: getting Manuel to move in with him. Manuel has never loved someone the way he does Jess, but has a major hang-up with leaving even a mere toothbrush in his lover’s home.

Jess has to pry the news that Manuel’s mother is getting married out of him. What should be a simple trip to the rodeo turns into a version of Guess who’s Coming to Dinner in Twice the Ride. Manuel’s mother is one momma you don’t want to play with. She has a fierce love for her son, and while his sexual orientation is a concern, it soon becomes overshadowed by the knowledge of the mutual love of Jess and Manuel. Ramon, Manuel’s step-father, proves you should always watch the quiet man on the sidelines. And José, the jealous uncle, is back with a vengeance and attempts to disrupt the family gathering.

Twice the Ride is a story of love, support, and acceptance. The characters find themselves facing the hard realities of life. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and was caught between laughter over antics and fanning to abide the heat. I’ll admit the sex was hotter the second time around. Twice the Ride is a marvelous sequel to Twice the Cowboy.

Twice the Cowboy, Twice the Ride is the first book by James Buchanan that I have had the privilege to read and review. I’m positive it won’t be the last. You watch as Manuel and Jess both grow and nurture each other through the series, learn to overcome obstacles and put old fears to rest. They even find acceptance where they thought none may be given. All the while, you are delivered with bits of humor and sex hot enough to scorch your eyebrows. James Buchanan has delivered a series you don’t want to miss.
