An international jewel smuggler only known as “The Broker” is the target of several international law enforcement agencies. Emma Parris is a lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and is working undercover as a jewel thief.
She makes contact with The Broker’s driver, Gerard McIver, unaware that he is a MI-6 undercover officer.
The sparks fly between them, even though both are leading a double life. Both are worrying about having to arrest the other once “The Broker” is in custody.
Under Cover of Night is a fun suspense story. The antics up Emma’s sleeve and Gerard’s reaction to them are good for a laugh. Their chemistry bothers both of them because they feel they may be stepping over the line. The identity of “The Broker” was surprising.
