Marc Claudius is a simple Roman soldier with a desire to become a great leader. Meeting the woman he is destined to love and protect changes that to a distant memory. Marc knows his Kushite noblewoman is more important than Rome. Their love will be tested, but Marc is willing to wait for the woman of his dreams, even if it takes two thousand years to gain her love once again.
Amina Banyon enjoys history especially the period where Rome and Egypt battled so fiercely. The first night Amina meets Marc she knows he’s no ordinary man. Her attraction to the student is beyond anything she has ever felt. Will Amina give Marc a chance to introduce her all the passion and love she has waited for, or will she fight the attraction?
Pulse, book 4 in the Mate Marks series, is a well-written tale about destiny and desire. Marc is a man of honor and discipline. His willingness to protect and love Amina goes way past the use of magic. The magic allows them to reconnect thousands of years later, but his love formed in the beginning is the foundation. Ms. Hill has created two fascinating characters in this well-plotted story. I love how she mixes history with the modern world to spin this tale, and look forward to reading more of her stories in the near future.
