Bran is a soon-to-be-retired Coast Guard Officer. Due to the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, Bran never publicly acknowledged his longtime lover, something he will always regret. Bran promised himself that he would never again deny the person he loves, so why is he falling for a straight man?

Steve is a wanderer, or at least he was until he landed in Hawaii. The young veterinarian has been searching for Mrs. Right since ending his last long term relationship. He hopes that now that he’s finally found a place to call home his quest for Mrs. Right will soon come to an end. But what about Bran?

Sea Change was a very good, easy-going romance that I hated to see end. The author took their time building the various relationships in this story, which allowed me to get to know the characters. Because they took this time, it was easy to see how strongly Bran and Steve belonged together, as well as understood the issues that made them reluctant to take the final step from friend to lover.

There is also a touch of mystery woven in the story as the men and their friends try to discover what or who is injuring local sea life. When the mystery touches on Bran’s past, it only draws him and Steve closer together.

If you are looking for something that is actually a romance story, then give Sea Change by Chris Quinton a try.
