The story opens with James Justin and his boyfriend Bram Lord attending a dinner party together at the home of James’ boss.  This is a big step for James, who is publicly announcing, without words, that he is gay to his co-workers.  Bram, who has never hidden his sexuality, is proud of his lover and fully intend to show Jamie just how much later.

Roughhousing is the sequel to A Bit of Rough.  I would advise readers to start with the first book to fully appreciate the sequel.  In A Bit of Rough, Jamie goes to an Atlantic biker bar cruising for a one-night stand.  This is not Jamie’s usual drinking establishment.  However, on this Friday night Jamie had decided to do something daring.  Jamie meets Bram, they have sex in the alley and Jamie’s one night stand turns into a budding relationship.  Jamie and Bram share several common interests, which works in their favor.

Jamie is a junior architect on his way up the corporate ladder.  Bram owns a successful construction company.  Both men enjoy intense intimacy as often as possible.  The conflict Jamie and Bram must resolve is finding the middle ground for a long term relationship.  Jamie is haunted by past rejections; he has learned to rely only on himself. Jamie has issues with trust and is constantly jumping to the wrong conclusions regarding Bram.  Jamie views Bram’s suggestions as attempts to control Jamie’s life.  Bram is a take charge, possessive caregiver, who loves with his whole heart.

The endearing character flaws showcase Jamie and Bram’s humanity.  The exquisite intimacy scenes demonstrate two intellectually equal men who are very much in love, giving pleasure to each other without thought of their own satisfaction first.  Laura Baumbach has a talent for creating magnificent stories even the non-fans of BDSM will thoroughly enjoy.
