To the Victor Goes The Spoils is a fascinating story of shifters and their mating rituals. Amanda avoids the pampered lifestyle of the Pride by joining the armed forces and moving up the ranks to become a member of the Special Forces. However her training is no match for shifters Kam Victor and his friend Regan Nardeau. Nia K. Foxx produced a tantalizing plot that is action packed, amusing and sensual with a touch of kink. I very much enjoyed this exciting saga.

Started reading and could not get past the first two dozen pages. The story starts out rather good using shfters that aren't that common. But when AJ gets to the cabin and encounters the two bears, who we find out are also shifters, the story goes south rather quickly.
In the cabin that AJ has rented for some deserved R&R a pair of bear shfiters has taken an interest in her, since the male to fem ratio is about ten to one according to one of the locals. After assaulting AJ, they squabble between themselves as to has the right to mate her.
When AJ objects, they fall back on 'shifter law' invoking "the right of victor', a death match between the two suitors.
Be mindful of this, AJ has had no say in any of this. She'd rather be left alone, but these local shifters, who act more like Neanderthals and find nothing wrong with clubbing women like baby seals to drag off to their cave.
AJ, not wanting to see blood spilled on her behalf, tries to find an alternative to the "Right of the victor" death match.
Apparently there is an alternative, but as they move to the bed to explore this alternative AJ asks:
“Uh…hello. I think the lady in question gets a voice here, or don‟t I matter?”
“Of course you do, but know that either way, your answer will have the same result,” Kam informed her.
In other words, AJ is going to get screwed and tattooed whether she wants to or not.
This is where I stopped reading. Sorry, but rape is rape. If the woman is unwilling, as AJ protestations make clear from the moment she knows what Yogi and BooBoo are up to, then whatever happens after is rape.
This perpetuates the myth that "no really means yes" misogynistic thugs have used to justify rapes of women since history began.
Up to this point in the book, the writing is good, tight and rather snappy. One technical beef I had which would have been solved with a modicum of research is that after 8 years in the military, especially after a tour in Special Forces, an officer had been have attained a rank above Second Lieutenant, which is the bottom rank in the officer's corps.
