FBI Special Agent Aaron Pearce is good at his job so when the Detroit office sends out a distress call for help, Agent Pearce is assigned to the case. Good Samaritan Mark Beecher stumbles onto a terrorist group planning a major attack and calls the FBI but before the Detroit agents can arrest the culprits, they get away. When Pearce arrives at the office to escort Mark to a safe house, the plans go terribly wrong. There is a terrorist spy in the agency; Pearce and Mark’s escape route is cut off and Pearce is not familiar with Detroit. Luckily, Mark is smart as well as quick-thinking; they make their way to an absent friend’s loft to stay until Mark is to give testimony. Finally having some time to talk, Pearce and Mark discover a mutual attraction that almost becomes fatal when Pearce loses focus and the protector is soon in need of protection.
Hank Edwards’ Holed Up is a well-written, fast-paced exhilarating FBI thriller. Pearce has a sharp mind with good instincts, in addition to being able to swing into high alert mode at a moment’s notice. Mark is a perfect match for Pearce with his common-sense survival attitude. Together, they took me through intense action episodes interwoven with a dash of humor along with very sensuous love scenes. Holed Up is an incredible story that I enjoyed immensely.
