Because he can read
the thoughts of everyone around him, Aiden Marshall never felt like he fits in,
not even among the member of the Power Up gym. He’s a dependable part of the
team and when he’s assigned to retrieve an important book, is convinced he can
accomplish the task. Then the job’s messed up by Gavin Caldwell, an accountant,
out to prove he’s able to do field work.
Gavin’s just the type
of guy Aidan likes and when they’re both assigned to get back the book, going
undercover as lovers at a dangerous kink party, they get close…very, very close.
Aidan learns things about Gavin he never imagined and learns things about
himself he didn’t know, including how much he cares for the younger man. That
means when their cover is blown, he’s willing to do just about anything to keep
Gavin safe.
Flight of Fancy is the newest release in Marie Harte’s Power Up! series. FYI-It’s possible to read this as a standalone
but due to the recurring characters, I recommend the books be read in order.
Gavin and Aidan are
interesting men and I like how we learned more of their personal history as the
story progressed. Both men have problems to deal with and the author handles
them nicely. I actually appreciate that Ms. Harte had both dealing with issues,
making them a little more emotionally equal.
I like how Ms. Harte
developed their relationship and since they had to prepare for the mission in
an intimate fashion, it happened very quickly. They’re very hot together and
the BDSM aspect of the story is well done…convincing…and works well within the
story line. The kink-club part of the plot is interesting, the secondary
characters vile and easy to dislike and the atmosphere well-described and
dangerous. There’s enough pain, fear and tension for the retrieval assignment to
work, but I felt details about the book they were to retrieve is lacking. It
bothered me that I didn’t know why the book is so important. Watch for the next
release, Silver Tongue, coming soon.
