Environmental Engineer Tyler McKay embraces being gay and leaves no room for second-guessing his desires. Meeting Charlie Reid throws Tyler’s senses into overdrive. The pure magnetism that rolls off Charlie draws Tyler to the wildlife artist. While Tyler doesn’t attempt to flaunt his sexuality, he doesn’t try to deny it. Charlie, on the other hand, is in deep denial over his inclinations. Will Charlie decide to accept his needs and the life he could have with Tyler, or will his fears cause him to lose the love of his life?

P. A. Brown has created yet another winner with Lynx Woods. Tyler and Charlie are both fascinating tops. Their careers and personalities kept the story interesting and made it hard to decide whom I enjoyed the most. I’ll admit I leaned more towards Tyler because of his sheer desire to have Charlie, and his ability to bounce back even when there seemed to be little hope. While I understood Charlie’s reactions, I couldn’t help but feel for the emotional turmoil Tyler went through in this tale. Lynx Woods combines lessons on second chances, friendship and self-acceptance with a breathtaking setting, well-written plot, and interesting supporting characters to make this one story you won’t want to put down. Previous and new readers to this fantastic author won’t be disappointed.

Maggie is tired of having to deal with crazed fans after her book signings and is seriously considering dropping her pen name and persona, Magda Torrene. One psychotic fan has gone too far, expecting her to be the character in her books. What she is working towards is only the PI business and not having a man in her life. That is until she meets and spends some time with Rick. Maggie is at the point in her life where she might finally be able to let go of her deceased husband and have a relationship with another man.

Private Investigator Rick Sloane is asked by his friend, and Maggie’s boss, to keep her safe while he is out of town. He is not sure about taking on the assignment until he discovers that Maggie handles herself well. She scores more points with him each time there is danger and he wants to know her better. He finds himself wanting to make theirs a partnership of investigating and book writing.

Just Peachy is a fantastic story, from a woman’s point of view, regarding law enforcement and men, in particular. I really enjoyed Maggie’s character, who became more realistic by her behavior regarding weight gain, binge eating and her determination for getting a job done. Throughout the book, the villain or villains never gave up on their goal and the obsession over one person….Magda.

Ms. Levigne writes of murder, budding romance, friendships and of finding new families. The secondary characters really added quite a bit to the story with their backgrounds and research help to Maggie. Surprisingly, there isn’t any hot sex scenes but Maggie and Rick had very naughty thoughts towards each other. I look forward to reading more from this author, who wowed me with this book.

To Heaven Resembled - Pepper Espinoza - 4 Nymphs
After growing up with a fireman for a father, Jakob Fox understands the sacrifice and courage required to perform in this dangerous field. The day Jakob lost his father left him with heartache, but he always takes a moment to thank firefighters when he sees them. What begins as a simple gesture of gratitude changes into an opportunity for friendship and more. The trouble is Jakob may not be able to commit to Firefighter Lance Stuart. However, if Lance has his way, he’s going to have the handsome Busker.

The Arsonist's Apprentice –India Harper – 4 Nymphs
Former arsonist turned insurance investigator Dylan Anderson understands fire. He remembers the rush of creating the destructive beauty of each of his fires, but refuses to return to that life. He meets Firefighter Josh Brooks, while investigating what is believed to be an arsonist’s handiwork. The men were on opposite sides of the spectrum at one time, a fact that Josh knows would be an issue with his family and friends. However, when all signs point to Josh as the culprit, will Josh go to jail or will he find an ally in the man who has taken over his senses?

Pepper Espinoza and India Harper both deliver well written, thought provoking stories in the Hearts Afire: November anthology. Both of the firefighters loves their job, but are still open-minded enough to understand the impact of their career on the men in their lives. I think Lance won me over just because he was able to prioritize what he deemed important and was willing to make sacrifices for love. The interaction between Dylan and Josh definitely turns up the heat in their story. A few of their scenes were sensual, raw, and exciting. For those who have read the monthly anthologies for Hearts Afire, you will definitely find this month’s release worthy of a read or two.

Ian Stanton has always been overly serious and responsible, doing what his now deceased father and his brother, the new Earl, wants. The need to be a good son and brother explains how Ian ends up with an unwanted commission in the Army and how he finds himself packed off to war. He’s done only one thing remotely irresponsible his entire life. Namely, the close relationship that developed between himself and Nicky, and he considers the physical aspect of their joining unholy and unnatural.

Five years after Ian last saw Nicky, he’s home, wounded in body and soul from his injuries during the war. He doesn’t feel he has any chance of having a family of his own, or any means to make a living, which means he’s dependent on his brother. Willing to help his brother out with their sister, he agrees to escort her to a twelve day long holiday gathering at the ancestral home of the Marquess of Carleigh, Nicky’s father. His plan is to stay as far away from Nicky as possible. Not only is the memory of what happened between them painful, but the thought of being pitied is more than he can stand.

Nicky has very different plans, and those include getting his lost love back in his life. Permanently. Now the only thing Nicky has to do is corner Ian, convince the stubborn man that what they have isn’t wrong and figure out a way they can be together, without shirking his duty to his father or his title.

An Improper Holiday is the newest release by multi-published author K.A. Mitchell. I rarely read historical books; they’re usually not my cup of tea, but then again, I’ve never read a book by this talented author that I didn’t enjoy, either. That being said, I’m glad I didn’t pass on this well written gay historical, and if you enjoy either genre, you shouldn’t either.

Ian is a product of the time and society in which he lives and he’s fearful of his desires and what others would do and say if they discovered his secret. Ms. Mitchell does a nice job with this, and expressing his feeling of pain and inadequacy after returning disabled from the war. Nicky is of higher social status and his life hasn’t changed much in the five years he and Ian have been apart. He doesn’t believe what he and Ian feel for each other is wrong and is determined to get their relationship back on track. The integration of information on the day-to-day activities was well done without being stuffy, giving a good understanding of life among the wealthy English upper-class.

Ian and Nicky’s characters are intriguing men caught in an untenable situation and while I like them both, Ian’s personality is much richer and deeper than that of his titled lover. The secondary characters, especially Ian’s sister, are essential to the plot, helping to propel the story along, and moving it into some unexpected directions. The twists and turns were few in number, but the big one near the end caught me totally by surprise, and frankly, I love that in a story. Read and enjoy!

Having his hopes for a normal life dashed at a young age, Jin Rayne is trying to make a new life in a new city. His attempt to stay clear of were-tribes comes crashing to a halt and the truth behind Jin’s abilities begins to surface. He’s too rare to avoid fate forever and Logan Church is his fate…. his future mate.

Logan Church will do anything for his pack, but refuses to be denied happiness or love, and Jin is the source of both. The men will encounter trials that will strengthen their resolve and create an anchor strong enough to support their love while creating a safe haven for those they love.

I’ll admit Mary Calmes’ cover for Change of Heart lured me in and made me take a moment to read the blurb for this story. While there is enough information to give you a glimpse of what is to come, you still aren’t prepared for the action and suspense in this story, or the pure attraction of Logan and Jin. There were moments where Jin truly had me pulling my hair out but when you learn of his past, you cannot help but feel for the younger man. There were a few times where I sat back in disbelief, but understood it took a while to trust those like him. His desire to hide his true abilities and nature were justifiable. Logan is a man of many talents. Watching his actions and reactions to the events around him showed his strength and depth of caring for Jin. The story draws you in from the first scene and never releases its hold until the final sentence. While I’m not sure if Ms. Calmes will have more stories, she definitely has created some fascinating supporting characters that I hope to read about in the future.

Conall MacInnes is the laird of his clan, who has the additional responsibility of protecting the Druids in his area. Conall had wanted to be one of them, but being the only son, he had to lead his people. His kidnapped sister is always on his mind, and when he helps Glenna get away from her father, he learns she knows of his sister. Once he takes her to his keep, he needs to enact his revenge against Glenna’s father for his treachery. Will Conall fail the three hundred year old prophecy and will his love for Glenna be the biggest interference……or not.

Glenna MacNeil needs to know what purpose she has in life, after being secluded in a filthy keep. She is told by Conall’s sister, who has been brought there against her will, of a dark man who will help her. Glenna eagerly jumps at the chance to escape but is not sure of what will happen to her later. What Glenna learns of her ability to control the magic from other Druids surprises her. They want to train her to be prepared for the coming prophecy, of which she will be apart.

Highland Mist is the first in the Druid Glen series, and this book is loaded with murder, magic, deceit and love. The villain starts right off doing his dirt work of deceiving and murdering of innocents. When you think all is lost, in rides Conall MacInnes, and let’s not forget Glenna’s unstable abilities, that complements the both of them. I enjoyed many of the secondary characters that added to the plot, and their points of views.

Ms. Grant has spun a very realistic tale of Scottish lore, and the magic of the Druids only adds to it. I felt the spiders crawling, in the dark cave along with Glenna, and applauded her for the courage she showed, when it was needed most. My joy and surprise at the way this story ended was great, but the villain is still around to cause mischief ! Oh well, I am awaiting the next book in this series to see where the magic takes us.

Rob first met Maddie when he and his sister went to Granier Falls for a wedding. Since then, they’ve burned up the phone lines getting to know each other better. On Friday, after weeks of talking long distance, Rob unexpectedly shows up on Maddie’s doorstep, ready to move their relationship to the next phase. He’s also looking for a weekend of wicked hot sex.

Maddie is all Rob ever wanted in a woman. She’s kind, caring thoughtful and stunning and for the first time in his adult life, Rob begins to believe that he’s found the woman meant for him. That is, until the curse from his past threatens to destroy his future, forcing him to reveal the-difficult-to-control-and-dangerous side of his nature. When his older sister is kidnapped and beaten, Rob must use all his inherent power, and the help of Maddie and a few new friends, to locate her before its too late. Can he find a way to save his sister and his love for Maddie or will a family curse keep him on the run?

Feel the Fire is the second release in the ongoing Granier Falls series by author Diana DeRicci and can easily stand-alone from the previous release.

The story starts at a nice pace and quickly picks up steam when Rob arrives on Maddie’s porch. From the moment these two get together the pages are lit with passion, desire and a palpable, bone-deep attraction neither can deny. Their relationship…and the sex, moves on at a good clip, at least until Maddie’s three older brothers appear on the scene, threatening Rob. I love this portion of the story and Ms. DeRicci does a nice job choreographing what almost happens. That goes double for the background information integration of why the brothers acted as they did and Maddie’s reaction.

The last portion, where the brothers, Rob and Maddie work together to locate and rescue Rob’s missing sister, is also nicely done as is the final scene with a lone ‘bad guy’ at the very end. Unfortunately, the middle left me a little flat. Gasp…there’s way too much sex. While the near continuous sex scenes were well written, it makes the story sex top-heavy and without much plot during these portions.

DB needs a change in assignments and assists Madam Yanya with a ghost stirring up trouble in the local cemetery. Truth be told, DB and Jesse are more concerned with discovering how he becomes corporeal than the terror he invokes. A Halloween adventure soon gives DB more than he could have hoped for and the couple optimism for more enjoyable sexual encounters.

Drew Zachary’s Ghost in the Graveyard is his current release for the Eye Spy series. DB and Jesse’s sexual energy still carries that sweet heat we’ve come to enjoy. The easy banter had me holding my side in laughter. Drew definitely has a style when it comes to spinning an interesting story. Between the mystery and the erotic scene, I honestly couldn’t tell you which I loved the most. And it’s always nice to get a few moments with Madam Yanya. I can’t help but wonder if Drew will grace us with a quick romance for her in the future. Those who enjoy this series won’t be disappointed.

Katherine Wolf has been in hiding her entire life because of a birthmark that could result in her being labeled a witch. But, when her family dies and her home is given to a knight, she is torn between risking her life by leaving or risking her heart to the handsome stranger, if she stays.

Calen, the Black, is determined to make the desolate castle he has been awarded by the king into his home, no matter what it takes. What he does not expect to find is the one woman destined for him.

In The Dark is a wonderfully compelling read that shows how inner turmoil and insecurities can be smothering enough to keep one from living life to its fullest. It is a heart-warming tale of beauty truly being in the eye of the beholder.

In The Dark explores the different ways individuals can view the same things. A sweet read of doubts and low self-confidence being conquered by love; a great story with just the right amount of heat for those cold nights.

Retired spy Mark Hardwicke has settled into domestic bliss with his lover Dr. Stephen Thorpe. The quiet life he anticipated is in danger of vanishing before his eyes when the request for one last mission is broached. Mark doesn’t want to lose his home but his sense of honor is standing squarely in the way. What will the former spy decide to do?

Josh Lanyon’s latest release Spy Something Wicked is the sequel to Spy Something Bloody. The story, told from Mark’s point of view, contains a great deal of internalization. This time around, Mark seemed to think more about his lover and their future together. There was one point where he didn’t know if he deserved the life he had with Stephen. It was sad to think that someone could feel undeserving of love and happiness. Thank goodness, he has a strong man who knows his true worth. This is definitely an interesting sequel and provides input on how the couple’s relationship has developed over the months.

Walking home because she got too tipsy at a party wouldn’t cause Isabelle alarm, under normal circumstances. Adding in the fact that it’s Halloween and her distant blood ties to Ichobod Crane makes this night about as far from normal as it can be.

Being abducted by one hot, headless man creeped Isabelle out at first. But then tremors of fright quickly turned into tremors of desire in Headless Horseman. Marteeka Karland puts an alluring spin on this legendary character that I didn’t see coming and I hated to see it end. Who wouldn’t lust after a man who doesn’t waste time on chit chat and takes as good as he gives? This is an excellent addition to the Jack-O-Lantern series.

Beautician Tameka Jones doesn’t miss her job as a psychologist and prefers dishing out advice in the setting of a salon. The clients are more receptive, there’s less chance of being sued, and the feel of hair through her fingers has always been more peaceful than that of an office setting. With the death of her beloved grandmother comes an opportunity to set her roots in a small town. Tameka’s quiet country surroundings alter, thanks to the attention of a local deputy and a stalker after her grandmother’s land.

Deputy Chadleigh Wilson didn’t know the meaning of family until he became a member of the Raven pack. Growing up in foster care did nothing to prepare him for the feelings Tameka stirs. Chad goes from lone wolf to mate in the flash of an eye and has no trouble in his new role. He knows his trouble lies in keeping his mate safe and getting Tameka to accept their bond. Will Chad and Tameka find the love they both deserve before it’s too late?

Zena Wynn’s True Mates series has become one of my favorite. The characters are always interesting and well developed, while the mountain setting stirs a longing for my country hometown. Not to mention smoking hot scenes filled with passion, love and enough heat to melt tar. True Mates: Tameka's Smile has a nice pace and begins with a scene that had me ready to speed down a secluded highway, in hopes of finding a sheriff with a few hours to spare. I’ll admit I highlighted that scene and plan to read it again in the future.

The character’s life stories draped over my senses and had me rooting for them. Tameka’s reasons for becoming a psychologist gave me respect for the woman. Her ability to attend school and gain the degrees needed were proof of her determination. Most people stay in a position, regardless of how much they hate it but Tameka understood that being happy with your career is more important than the money it can produce. I’ll definitely be taking a page out of her book in the coming months. Chad’s life of solitude pulled at my heartstrings. I started to question his status of lone wolf, citing a fear of being left alone or not having his love returned. Tameka’s love and friendship were definitely factors that he needed in his life. As usual, Ms. Wynn gives us a hint of a romance brewing for a future release. I found the story a pleasure to read and recommend it to those who enjoy I/R paranormal romance.

Yet underneath it all, each man fills the void in the other’s life. Marr is warm, caring, tender and strong, while Davan is resourceful, passionate, and filled with an adventuresome spirit that draws Marr like a moth to a flame. Over the years, Egan has been rejected more times than he can count, by the same woman. The dragon in him is bound and determined to claim its mate, regardless of what she says. Eventually, he knows Mireya has to say yes. Doesn’t she?

Mireya wants Egan; there is no doubt about it. However, she has her reasons for not succumbing to his charm and paralyzing good looks. When Egan changes his methods to wear her down, the walls Mireya erected around her heart fall like a house of cards.

Though I haven’t read the other books in the Dragon Kin series, I certainly will after the brief look I got into Egan’s chase of Mireya. That dragon melted my heart with the depth of his love for his soul mate and his determination to never give up. At the beginning, I just couldn’t help wondering if Mireya was a few sips short of a full glass for turning Egan away. Seeing how frustrated he was made for some mighty cute moments that only made me cheer for Egan more. Dragon Kin: Ferret You! is undoubtedly an adorable love story that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.

Humans are mutating into creatures thought to be legends only. Buck Shand is called to the site of a gruesome murder, which is the latest of several over the past few weeks. Buck uses his particular skill to try to identify the killer but ends up with few clues.

Dr. Lian Herrick is asked by the Captain to be part of the task force trying to identify the killer. Lian keeps herself under tight control as she is a succubus. As Buck and Lian work together, they end up bonding and now have a mental link that comes in handy as they bait a trap to catch the killer.

Demons are Forever is a realistic look at a world that is suddenly populated by werewolves, vampires, fairies and other supernatural or legendary species. The author was so descriptive that you could see what Buck was seeing in your mind. It was interesting how the relationship between Lian and Buck evolved and the fears they have because of what they are. I would have liked to learn more about Buck and what he really was because I felt the author only glossed over him. I recommend keeping ice-cubes on hand as you read the sex scenes between Lian and Buck. After reading the epilogue, there will be additional stories about some of the other characters in this book. I think this will be an interesting series as Ms. Hayworth expands on her society.

Five years after he was shot, FBI Agent Chase Nozick, is still hunting the dangerous thug who severely wounded him and killed his partner. Chase travels cross country to California where he’s dropped in the middle of a Special Task in LA and partnered with a LAPD officer he’s never met. He soon finds himself confronting mysterious religious practices out of his experience with a new partner, who’s a believer.

Despite their mutual attraction, both men are in the closet and must take care to not expose their sexual orientation to the officers they work with. Chase has more than just a killer to find. He must learn to deal with the pain from the past that’s ruining his life and decide if he and Enrique have any hope of continuing their relationship, once the case is over.

Personal Demons is the newest release by multi-published author James Buchanan. This one deals with several subjects I’m totally unfamilar with; the Santeria religion, mysterious worship services, possession, human sacrifice and strange deities. I truthfully expected the aforementioned portions of the plot to be distracting but in actuality, the author did a nice job integrating them smoothly into the story. What I did find disrupting to the flow was the vast number of non-English words within its pages.

I applaud the author for utilizing such unusual components in the development of this unique and intriguing mystery. Add in two interesting characters, in the form of Enrique and Chase, and you have all the things needed for a winning mystery. I love Chase’s ‘doubting thomas’ attitude, but I appreciated it more that he was willing to give the odd events going on around him a chance; that he didn’t make fun of his new partner or his beliefs just because he didn’t understand them. Enrique is the most unusual of the two and he’s an upbeat, happy guy, doing a dirty, nasty job. He’s also doesn’t seem to care that the people around him…the officers he works with know he’s gay. No, his big secret is his out of the mainstream deeply-felt religious beliefs and practices.

Chase is dedicated to bringing his dead partner’s killer to justice, but he’s become a lonely, depressed drunk while doing it. Having Enrirque come into his life is the only good thing he has going for him. Despite how close the two men become, neither ever says the L word, yet both acknowledges their mutual commitment to making their relationship work long distance. And did I forget to mention the blistering hot sex? I think I did. Good reading.

Caleb thought that he would be building a new life in L.A. with his actor boyfriend; only things don’t quite turn out that way. After getting drunk and falling asleep on some stranger's couch, Caleb meets the men who is going to change his life in more ways than one.

Scott and Chris have been on-again and off-again for years. That the two love each other is well known by both their family and friends so when Caleb starts spending too much time with the guys, everyone begins to worry about what’s going on and who will end up getting hurt.

The Strongest Shape is the first book of author Tessa Cárdena’s that I have read and I am sure it will not be my last. Her characters are highly entertaining and totally different from each other in personality, yet add just what is needed to make this threesome a strong committed partnership. The insecurities that Caleb must deal with as a result of an unexpected break up, as well as the feelings he is starting to have for Scott and Chris, are clear for the reader to see and understand. It is also evident that Scott and Chris are deeply devoted to each other and don’t take the addition of Caleb into their relationship lightly. The author also does an amazing job expressing the feelings of those around the men once they find out that they are now a threesome. Whether it is acceptance or disapproval, the emotions come across believable. From beginning to end, this was one story that I enjoyed and would highly recommend.

Detective Jasmeene LeCourt had been chosen to pose as a stripper to catch a murderer. With her skills, stunning looks and half human blood, she is perfect for this job. He is exactly the kind of man who gets under her skin, in more ways than one.

As a player, Roarke Dimitru has no time for women on a long term basis but something about Jasmeene is drawing him in deeper than he cares to admit. Once this case was over, Roarke figured he would sleep with her and get her out of his system. However, as the dangerous case intensifies, so does the undeniable attraction between them.

The past plays a big part in Jasmeene and Roarke’s relationship, even though neither of them realized this at first. Both had experienced heartbreak and been changed because of it. At certain points, I perceived Roarke’s actions as cold and aloof. Then I peeked into his heart and I understood his reasons. Jasmeene has more spirit than Roarke expected and I enjoyed watching her shock him every so often. The suspense and the sexual tension will definitely grab the readers. Nadia Aidan did a wonderful job in Undercovers, so I’m definitely going to read the other stories in this anthology, Caught In The Middle.

Holly feels she’s a disappointment to her family. Her magic doesn’t work right, she can’t fly straight, and everyone in the Fae world makes fun of her. She can’t even get a job because she’s such a klutz. All she wants is to enjoy life, but knows that’s not going to happen in her restrictive world. Holly definitely doesn’t want to marry Bern, the jerk, and doesn’t care that he’s a prince. She wants out of Fae and needs to find a way through a portal to the human world.

Dominic hasn’t seen his family since the death of his twin. He’s alone and friendless until he rescues an emotionally and physically wounded werewolf, Jay, who changes his life. The two become inseparable lovers, and despite the differences between were and vampire, they make a life together.

What the men want more than anything else is to find a woman to love them both and make them into a committed threesome. When they met Holly, Dominic and Jay know they’ve found the woman meant for them. Before their new relationship can develop further, Holly’s forced back to Fae, and the men are in a fight for their survival. If the lovers can’t figure out what’s going on, and who’s behind it, they could all end up dead.

The Misfits is the fourth release in Ms. Elsborg’s Trueblood series and I hope it won’t be her last. While it might be helpful to read the books in order, The Misfits can stand alone without the benefit of the others.

As with all the books in this intriguing series, she’s created three likable characters that fit together seamlessly, even if at times the edges get a little ragged. Dominic and Jay are great together and adding Holly to the mix works well. All three have either personal or family issues to resolve before they can make it as a threesome and at times, it doesn’t look like it will ever work out. In fact, there are huge portions of the plot where Holly is on her own…dealing with her own problems. I would have liked to see more togetherness of Dominic, Jay and Holly and fewer scenes from the viewpoint of the various ‘bad guys’ involved in the plot.

There’s a nice integration of characters, good flow, and the sex is blistering hot. This is the first release in the series that brought Fae into the plot, and I liked this arc twist. Ms. Elsborg did a great job with Holly. She was a klutz, yet determined to succeed and to take control of her life and the same goes for Jay. He went from damaged and unsure of himself to fighting for what was right. I look forward to the next release.

Bryn Morgan’s short life has been anything but peaceful. Moving from an abusive family life to the terror of prison was hard for the young man to undergo. Now, Bryn has returned to his hometown, seeking work among people who see him as little more than trash. His options look bleak, until he turns to the one man who always seemed to make him see a brighter side of life, Reverend Ian Kenyon.

Ian’s existence hasn’t been as shaky as Bryn’s, but he is battling his own hurts and loss. With the death of his wife and newborn son came a decrease in Ian’s faith. He has lived in darkness for so long, but hiring Bryn will change that for Ian. The men will learn to live, love and trust again. Over time, they will learn the meaning of the words forgiveness and friendship.

Moving past hurt, regardless of the caliber, can be a hard road to travel. Jan Irving’s The Hired Man takes us such a journey. Bryn has endured physical and emotional pain that has crippled his ability to see the good he possesses. Ian has emotional scars hindering him from finding joy. I love the slow build of their friendship, attraction and finally loving relationship. While there is plenty going on to keep the story moving, I never felt rushed to see them finally give in to their desires. Ms. Irving delivers yet another riveting story filled will brilliantly written characters, a strong plot and a breathtaking setting. Pick up a copy - you won’t be disappointed.

Lady Victoria Ashford decides to write for an underground sex paper after she finds and reads her brother’s copies. She ends up being blackmailed about her writing. She is also in love with her brother’s friend, Matthew Corwin, but her mother is being blackmailed by a Colonel and is insisting Victoria wed him.

Matthew is a known rake; when Victoria overhears him make arrangements to try a new girl at a bordello he frequents, she makes arrangements to take the girl’s place. To keep her identity hidden, she makes Matthew promise he will not remove her mask. Needless to say, Matthew is not happy when he later learns her identity.

Her Dark Master is a love story about what happens between two people when one doesn’t realize that they do love the other person. This story is filled with several twists and situations that get out of hand when Victoria tries to handle them herself. She is determined to live life on her own terms, as much as possible, within the society of Regency England. The scenes with Victoria and Matthew will have you going for ice cubes. I will be reading this one again even though I rarely read historical romances.

Sloan’s father has finally reached the point where he no longer knows how to handle his son’s problems. Hoping a new start in a new city will be what Sloan needs, he sends him off to live in New York with the son of an old teammate.

Cole has enough problems of his own and the last thing he wants is a roommate. Already presented with the done deal, Cole has no choice but to open his door to Sloan. But that’s all he’s doing.

After reading several of Mickie B. Ashling’s books, it is quite apparent that this author has no problem inserting tough social problems into the core of her stories. While previous stories have handled issues like bigotry and hate crimes, Cutting Cords deals with issues that are more personal in nature.

Unable to cope with the death of his mother or living in the shadow of his younger brother, Sloan has turned to prescription drugs, as well as cutting. The pain and suffering Sloan goes through while trying to deal with his problems is so realistically portrayed that it is sure to pull at the heartstrings of many readers. Cole’s problems are no less tragic as he has to come to terms with his approaching blindness but also overwhelming family obligations.

Cutting Cords is, by no means, an easy read. Both Sloan and Cole have serious issues to cope with and are unwilling to share their secrets with anyone, for fear of being ridiculed. While it is easy for the reader to see that these two need each other, it is not that easy for the characters and therefore a battle of wills always ensues. However, as these two come to terms with their problems and learn to trust themselves and each other, they soon learn that the love they have is one worth fighting for.

Sam Kostas has had writer’s block for nearly a year. He just can’t get anything on the page that makes any sense. Deciding a change of scenery might help, he buys a large Victorian home in a small coastal town in Rhode Island. Unfortunately, moving doesn’t help; he still can’t write and he has a deadline looming. Then one day everything changes when a small but determined man, Will Adler, shows up on his porch claiming the house belongs to him. The strange and unexplainable thing that makes Sam crazy is that as soon as Will comes into his life, he can write again. A scream fest, mud bath and sprained ankle later and Sam can’t stop thinking about the annoyingly crazy bakery owner. Does he like Will? No. Can he stop thinking about Will? No. Does he love Will? Maybe. The question is whether the house will draw them together or drive them apart.

Private Property is another fun and fast-paced story by talented writing duo Beagle and West. I love Will. He’s quirky, sweet, determined to get what he wants, a little annoying and a great baker with a big heart. Sam’s closed off, reclusive, a little mean-spirited and so sarcastic, his words could flay the flesh from Will’s bones. These two guys come from vastly different places in life that on the surface it’s difficult to believe the authors can ever get together. Yet, they do and realistically. Both men deny through most of the book that they’re gay; yet long before Will and Sam acknowledge their feelings, it’s obvious to Sam’s friend, Grant, who tries to push them together.

There are a few inconsistencies in the story that I had problems with. The first being that both men were inexperienced with gay sex, yet when they finally got around to physical intimacy, it went off with a bang (no pun intended), and without a hint of apprehension. The other thing that bothered me was Sam’s attitude. He was young, yet he often acted far older than his age, even elderly in his aversion to anything technology-related. For a writer who needed to get his words down on the page…and do research, this portion of his personality didn’t make sense.

Even so, the story is a quick and enjoyable read.

Greek vampire Julian Kristados’ world revolves around the happiness and wellbeing of his lover, Jason Summerfield. When a stalker becomes consumed with Jason, Julian wants to know who they are and how to stop them. Jason knows if anyone can protect him, it’s Julian but with a mad man out for blood, Julian may not be able to keep the evil away.

Blood Curse is the second story in Mychael Black’s Blood & Fire series. Jason and Julian have used their time wisely. Their connection is stronger and their desire to remain a couple is evident. Jason’s thoughts on their plans for the future didn’t surprise me. Their passion produced thoughts of scorched satin sheets, melted chocolate and eternity. Mr. Black adds suspense and our first glimpse of a budding attraction to this installment, which kept the story moving along at a steady pace. For those who enjoy musicians and Greek vampires, pick up a copy and enjoy.

Sidra is the reincarnation of Isaac Newton, who had created a stone that gives life to dead people. At Newton’s death, his children thought he had cursed them to die after several hundred years.

Van and two of his brothers have been looking for the Alchemist to try to reverse the curse. After meeting Sidra, Van is not sure she is the one, though events soon make it clear she is.

The heartache and insecurity of the characters in Love’s Alchemy will resonate with all who read this book. The author pulls you into the story with the emotional ups and downs as Van and Sidra try to come to grips with their attraction to each other. This book will require tissues to be available while reading some of the exchanges between Van and Sidra. The story pulls you back and forth between Newton and Sidra as well as some of the other siblings. Sometimes the back and forth between Sidra and Newton seemed to jar the story for me because it would jump without any kind of warning. While the premise of this story is good, I sometimes felt lost as I read it and I could not really get a grasp of the characters.

The line between a decision that leads to a life of fortune and an existence riddled with adversity isn’t black and white but painted brilliant Shades of Gray. To FBI Agent Miller Sutton, there is no such gray area, or that was his view until he met Danny Butler.

Miller sees the criminal as no more than a means to an end. Putting Danny in danger to capture drug lord Roberto Hinestroza is the only thing he deems as important. However, over the course of a few weeks, the two men will learn truths about themselves, change their perceptions about what is important in life and finally, learn the power of love.

Shades of Gray is a brilliantly written story by Brooke McKinley. With a solidly developed storyline and a fantastic cast of characters, this tale will take over your senses. I couldn’t decide which of the main characters I liked the most. Both men had a great deal of self-discovery during the story. I think Danny beat Miller out by a smidgen because after I read about his past and everything he endured. The emotional depth of the characters left me spellbound during portions of this story. Brooke has a way of writing the characters emotions explicitly, leaving me no choice but to feel the grief and happiness as if it were my own. Shades of Gray has messages on acceptance, forgiveness and the importance of personal growth throughout the story. There is a healthy dose of action, suspense and a few sensual scenes filled with enough heat to fog up your windows. Between the handsome agent, crazy hit man and misunderstood criminal, I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book. I recommend Shades of Gray to those who enjoy the genre.

Gideon is certain he’s found his heart’s desire…the sub he’s been looking for. He sweeps the beautiful young man off his feet, carrying him into a life of love, tenderness, his personal kink and more luxury than he can imagine.

What Gideon doesn’t know is that his lover, his beloved Tybalt, is the last remaining member of the ruling clan from Tybalt’s home planet, or that the young man’s life is in danger. When the past comes calling, the lives of Tybalt, Gideon and everyone else at The Velvet Glove is endangered. The question is who is live and who will die.

Velvet Blade is another well-written and plotted look at the intriguing men who live, work and play in the best BDSM club in the galaxy, The Velvet Glove. This latest release introduces two new members to the Glove family, Gideon and sweet Tybalt, two dissimilar men you’re guaranteed to like.

As always, there’s lots of blistering hot sex and the BDSM lifestyle is at the forefront of the newest tale by talented author Sean Michael. He’s created interesting men who give each other exactly what the other needs, with a kink they both love. It also paints a vivid picture of what happens when a dangerous past, thought long put to rest, comes back more violent than ever. While I enjoyed the entire story, the portion that deals with the attack on The Velvet Glove, the injury of its inhabitants and the aftermath are where Mr. Michael excelled. The descriptions are powerful, the emotions intense, and the love and support of those involved…perfect. I, for one, am anxious to see where he goes with the next release in The Velvet Glove world. Don’t make us wait too long, Mr. Michael.

Jayla shut down her need for love the day her family was murdered. In the eight years since the event, Jayla has grown as a woman. Strong, determined and fearless, she is ready to face anything, including those she believes is responsible for the massacre.

Kane believes he is accountable for the pain Jayla has endured. Unable to protect her and her family that fateful day, Kane has made it his mission to become her protector. Over the years, he has watched Jayla become a confident woman. When their roles reverse, Kane discovers just how resourceful Jayla is and in return, Jayla discovers love once again.

Jayla’s plight in Lionsbane isn’t unfamiliar but the delivery is purely a Marteeka Karland original. She continues the Frozen Earth series with a young woman trying to relearn the meaning of trust and love and a man who feels guilty over a past wrong that was solely out of his hands. Kane is the kind of hero that never gets old to an avid reader. Loving, protective and passionate are just a few of his qualities. Jayla knew it was time to break out of her shell and take a hold of her life. I loved her sheer determination to emerge from her protective shield as a woman in ever since of the word. This eloquently written story draws you into the couple’s world and I can only hope Ms. Karland has more in store for the Frozen Earth series.

Bull riding is the one thing that Spencer Cole lives for and he is damned good at it. Carving a name for himself in the rodeo circuit hadn’t been easy, but it had certainly been worth it. One bad ride brings Spencer face to face with the harsh possibility of never riding again. Now he is forced to accept assistance from the one woman who gives him the same rush he gets from bull riding. Yes, he wants to be in her bed but not as a patient.

Working as a photographer for her father, Rebecca Rankin has always longed to move on to bigger and better things. Covering the rodeo and spending time with her sexy cowboy, Spencer, was what got her through her small town life. This year their relationship changes when Rebecca nurses Spencer back to health, mentally and physically. Now it’s up to her to convince Spencer that life changes might not be as bad as he thinks.

Jamie Craig is a master at painting a vivid picture of the evolution of a couple’s relationship, and I enjoyed watching the story unfold in Cowboy Blues. Rebecca and Spencer bring the heat, starting from the first moment they meet. Their card game was one of my favorite scenes. I also appreciated the stroll down memory lane to the times before Rebecca and Spencer could actually be considered friends because I saw how they grew as individuals and felt how much impact they would have on the other. It was sweet watching them discover new things about the other, outside the bedroom. Spencer’s tragic accident left me feeling badly not just for him, but also for Rebecca. The reality of taking care of someone isn’t always romantic, but she took it in stride, which made for some mighty erotic moments. If you love new beginnings and hot cowboys, then there is no way you can skip this impressive story.

Kayla Smith is the oldest of the Smith triplets and a woman who likes control. She’s watched her two sisters find love and Kayla’s ready to have a man of her own. The most likely candidate for the job is widower James Feldon.

James is still healing from the damage done by his deceased wife. His primary goals center on his children and father. James is just as attracted to Kayla but needed some pint-size intervention to take his blinders off completely. James notices things in Kayla that increase his love and respect in the beautiful woman. Kayla respects what a strong capable father James is and how he puts his family first. Has Kayla finally found that perfect mate?

Her Every Fantasy is the last story of the Smith Sisters Trilogy. I have to admit, this was my favorite of the three. Kayla looked at James, complete with four children, and decided to accept the entire package and take love as it came. I loved her determination and ability to allow his children in her heart without a second glance. Children are such a precious gift and this story illustrates that so well. James is a fantastic father, thanks to his ability to cater to his children’s needs and deep devotion to their happiness. The romance between the two was spontaneous and filled with wonder. The first date had me smiling and applauding the man for thinking outside of the box. Stephanie Morris has created a wonderful interracial romance that I’m sure will bring smiles, tears, and laughter to those fortunate enough to read it. Buy a copy and enjoy!

Keely McKay wants to open her own physical therapy rehabilitation clinic in town and she wants to get started without any help or interference from her large, overbearing family. That mean keeping a secret and while difficult, it’s not impossible. The problem staring her in the face is one she didn’t anticipate. She needs a certified historical restoration expert to oversee the project and the only person available turns out to be Jack, her brother’s friend but her worst nightmare.

Jack loves restoring great old buildings…saving architectural gems from the wrecking ball. He’s striving to rebuild his business after a nasty partnership break-up and he believes a certain potential project is just what he needs to get back on top. When he realizes his single status is causing him problems with the selection committee, he comes up with the scheme of a fake engagement. The deal is that if Keely with pose as his fiancé, he’ll manage her restoration. It seems like a win-win plan for them both; a few weeks of pretending and then its back to their old lives apart. These two might be advisories most of the time, but in the bedroom they’re hot. If they’re not careful, by the end of their charade instead of being happy together, they might wind up miserable apart.

All Jacked Up is the eighth release in Lorelei James’ Rough Rider Western romance series. It’s not imperative that the books be read in order, but it would give the reader a greater understanding of the complexity and depth of the relationships of the various characters, both old and new.

Ms. James has once again given her readers a story of family, love, commitment and dedication but this time our heroine is the lone McKay female, wild child Keely, and I couldn’t be happier. In fact, I’m thrilled, since I’ve been hoping for a book revolving around this spunky young woman for some time. Take it from me, the wait was worth it.

Keely has changed and matured a great deal since her introduction in the series and seeing her plan and execute the future she’d worked hard for is a pleasure. She’s finally grown into a woman striving to find her place in a family filled with overbearing Alpha males, and it isn’t easy, but she managed through grit and determination. It isn’t any easier trying to have a personal life and when she gets involved with Jack, her brothers are none too happy. The premise of a fake engagement might not be a new concept, but Ms. James handled it with skill and flair. The characters of Keely and Jack are rich and nicely developed, the plot fast moving, the sex blistering hot and the situations well thought out and realistic. And the dialogue is great…and so funny it had me laughing out loud.

I can safely say that All Jacked Up is now my new favorite in a series filled with keeper books. Read and enjoy…again and again. I will.

Alejandro Moreno is young but he’s not one to forget his responsibilities. With the death of his father, Alejo takes up the reigns as the provider and protector of his family.

Fane is a fairy who has his own responsibilities, one of which is the garden Alejo maintains. While he is lonely, Fane won’t take substandard company. He needs a person of a certain caliber and Alejo more than fits that bill, even if he is human.

Jan Irving’s The Summer Gardener is a superbly written story encompassing a fairy’s garden and the handsome young human charged to care for it. The couple’s dynamics builds from bantering to a relationship built on a strong foundation of love and trust. The kindness housed in Alejo’s strong body is what first draws Fane to him, and me to this story. Alejo’s selflessness and determination makes him a character you won’t soon forget.

Ms. Irving adds some light humor and passionate moments that are sure to keep you spellbound. The supporting cast appearances add just the right amount of laughter and tension to keep the story flowing and interesting. The Summer Gardener was a pleasure to read and I recommend it to those who have a fetish for prickly faeries.

The war with the dark wizards continues and numerous members of both sides have fallen in the vicious magical fighting. Things turn dire for the Alliance when two dark wizards somehow manage to capture vampire, Orlando. Knowing Orlando can’t survive long without the blood of his lover makes Alain and their friends desperate to find him before its too late.

In need of help, Jean and others seek the assistance of the oldest and wisest vampire in the city of Paris, vampire master Christopher Lombard and for the first time in centuries, he comes out of his self-imposed seclusion. Finding a partner in the leader of the Alliance, Christopher joins the fight against the dark forces bent on the destruction of the members of the paranormal community and all humans.

Things are falling apart in the dark wizard stronghold and their leader, Serrier, is more dangerous and erratic with each passing day. Eric, who’s been on the side of the dark wizards, takes a chance at redemption with a decision that could affect them all. Does he and his lover, Vincent, help the tortured Orlando escape before it’s too late or does he let him die?

Reparation in Blood is the fourth and last installment of Ariel Tachna’s Partnership in Blood series and it takes up immediately where the previous release left off. The books in this series build on each other, so it is vital that they be read in order to understand the dark wizards, the battle, and the wildly different dynamics between the numerous wizard/vampire pairings. If you love paranormal tales, then give this outstanding series a try.

All the books in this series are well-written, and the plot flows easily from one to another. The world-building continues to be exceptional, the characters interesting, and the partnerships between wizards and vampires exciting and sexy. Ms. Tachna has done a wonderful job expanding the relationships of the couples we’ve come to know and love and despite the multitude of characters, their integration into the plot is seamless.

Not surprisingly, there’s lots of action between the two groups of wizards in this series-ending book. The overall plot is fast-paced, and it only moves faster as it nears the final battle. There were a few twists and turns which I didn’t expect (and which will remain hidden here), but in the context of the story arc, they make perfect sense.

Another thing I enjoyed was Ms. Tachna’s ending. Instead of finishing the book at the culmination of the battle, she gave us page after page of wind-down. We get to see the characters return to their normal lives, to rebuild, and move on. It definitely gives a good sense of closure to a world and group of people many have come to love.

Samantha never knew she could love a woman as much as she does Eve. Unlike Eve, Sam has experience with men but has found true happiness and satisfaction with the woman who shares her bed. However, when Eve introduces sex toys to the relationship, Sam can’t help the desires that resurface. Eve isn’t hurt by Sam’s need but hates to see her lover unfulfilled so decides to invite the one man Eve knows will step in when the women need him most.

Roman has considered Eve his best friend since childhood. He’s glad she has found happiness with Sam and would do absolutely anything to keep her happy, regardless of the cost to him. When he receives a telephone call from his closest friend and her lover requesting something that he had only ever dreamt of, he can’t believe his ears. He knows the dangers of accepting the offer but lust and arousal win out over logic and the trio set a date to meet up. Eve and Sam are more than a little surprised Roman said yes but now that things have been set in motion, Roman isn’t the only one dealing with conflicting emotions.

One word best describes the relationship between Sam, Eve and Roman in Open Proposal – complicated. With such intense, long suppressed feelings hanging heavy in the air whenever they are together, I couldn’t see this ending without someone getting really hurt. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The passion among the trio was absolutely sweltering and it was wonderful to witness the characters’ worlds only truly being complete when they finally open up and are honest with one another. I have read little with F/F couplings and although I did thoroughly enjoy reading about Sam and Eve’s relationship, I did find it difficult to keep track of who was doing what to whom. I thought the introduction of a male character would help but I still found it hard picturing what was being described. Although this detracted a little from my enjoyment, the strength of character and plot far outweighed this and the intensity of the emotions sizzling between three likable characters makes me recommend this to all fans of the genre.

Welshwoman Terrwyn possesses skills not exactly befitting a woman of her time. Her skill with a bow and her dreams of the future can’t help her brother, though, when the English king’s army calls. Terrwyn sets off to find him and, while posing as a man in the army ranks, ends up shackled together with an English knight. Forced into the company of her sworn enemy, she finds Sir James Frost may know how to find her brother, but he also holds much more: the key to her heart.

Sir James Frost trusts no one, save the king. He especially doesn’t trust the person he’s chained to, but the Welsh maiden Terrwyn inadvertently works her way into his heart, and soon James is torn between duty to the Crown, and the promise of true love.

Knight Dreams is a sweet, riveting tale of medieval romance between two who should be enemies: a Welsh woman and an English knight. Terrwyn is feisty and definitely not a wilting flower of a maiden. She’s strong and determined, and she carries a sense of honor about her worthy of any knight. James, despite not trusting her, is endearing in his love and care for her, and his willingness to fight for her.

This is my first book from C. C. Wiley, but if Knight Dreams is any indication, it won’t be the last. I love the time period, and Wiley did a wonderful job in bringing out the best (and at times, the worst) of love and war in the Middle Ages.

William of Marlowe has obeyed his father all his life, until it came time to marry but Elizabeth was not the choice by his father. After his father told him she had married another, his bitterness was great, because they had promised to hold out. That only lead to years of loneliness for him; even after his wife had died, leaving him to raise his daughter alone.

Elizabeth’s marriage to Mauger was not her choice - she was lead to believe by her father that William didn’t want her. She and William have known each other since childhood, and expected marriage to each other without any interference. Knowing that Mauger had mistresses in the keep, Elizabeth is happy to be relieved of servicing him now that she had given him an heir and a spare.

This story starts off with secrets, deceit, and loyalty. Siren Song moves at a fast pace, and before I knew what happen, their lives changed. There is definitely more than one plot going on here, with one vicious villain, who’s determined to take out anyone who would interfere with his goals. I was very impressed with William’s ability to suppress his emotions for another man’s wife and still be around her.

Ms. Gellis has given quite a bit of history surrounding the characters, making each scene more realistic. I was not surprised at the behavior of the King of England, who seemed to be at odds with all his subjects; thank goodness for the Queen. This is the first book in the Royal Dynasty series, and I am looking forward to reading more about Raymond and Alys.
