Noble and Pascal are wolf guards who have been assigned the task of keeping the vampire leader of the Maxis tribe, Ceres, safe at all costs. Noble is well suited to the job of personal guard. He’s older and comes from a long line of wolf warriors who have served several tribal leaders in the past. Pascal, on the other hand, is much younger and, though as well trained, comes from a much lower class so he almost declines the honor. While they have performed their duty with total professionalism, the last year serving the beautiful Ceres has been difficult on both men. The desire they both feel for their mistress is much more than passing lust…it borders on obsession.
For a while, things don’t look good for our hunky wolves when they discover that a potential sire for Ceres’ children is expected to arrive. He’s nothing like expected, and it’s all they can do to keep from insulting the arrogant male vampire, when what they really want to do is rip him to sheds. It’s only after Ceres has him thrown off the property that Noble and Pascal discover that their mistress returns their feelings. The three are soon embroiled in a passionate affair, but what will they do when their romance causes trade sanctions for the Maxis tribe?
Carnal Obsession is the latest release in Ms. Hill’s ongoing Carnal 2 series. Noble and Pascal are both well rounded wolves, giving me a good feel for their personalities and what drives them. I can’t say the same for Ceres. The passion between all three is blistering hot, but I had problems with it taking so long for them to get together. Communication always helps, and there is little between the men and Ceres, aside from official stuff. I thought the scenes with her arrogant suitor were particularly good, as were the reactions of Noble and Pascal.
